04/01: Skayde vs Mistico, IWRG, FSE, Accion

In the main event of a show at Arena El Cortijo on Saturday (03/31), Mistico beat Skayde for his mask. Skayde was revealed to be Jorge Rivera Serrano. This is Mistico’s third mask win, all since beating Black Warrior last September.

This match and Skayde’s mask loss came as a surprise – there was no known build up, this isn’t Skayde’s home arena, and this is not a arena of any note. In the days leading up to it, there was an ongoing discussion on box y lucha’s foro wondering if it might be a typo, a fraud, or some other bit of confusion, but the match did take place as advertised. It is highly unlikely that it was taped.

Skayde’s competed as Jorge Rivera on a few of the Toryumon Mexico shows. He did not wrestle on the last one, though according to nuclear jackelope on DVDMB, Skayde was running the locker room for that show. nuclear jackalope’s post indicates this is likely Skayde’s choice and there’s something going on here that we haven’t been made aware of yet. (Health issue? That’d be my guess.)

IWRG (THU) 03/29 Arena Naucalpan
1) Puma King b Golem
2) Bacteria & Kid Tiger b Narcosatanico I & Narcosatanico II
3) Black Terry, Fantasma de la Ópera, Supremo Jr. b Esfinge, Fabian el Gitano, Solar I
4) Masada, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura b Felino, Kai, Yamato
5) Bestia Salvaje, Hijo de Cien Caras, Máscara Año 2000 b Dos Caras Jr., El Hijo del Solitario, Negro Navarro

Main event tecnico team fell apart, with Solitario accidentally getting hit by his teammates, and opting to hit back for real. That didn’t help. Okumura cheated to win the semimain.

CMLL on FSE

These are the matches that aired
03/25 Coliseo: Jeque, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura b Metro, Stuka Jr., Tony Rivera
03/25 Coliseo: Damián 666, Halloween, Mr. Águila b Leono, Máscara Sagrada, Mictlan

HOWEVER, it was a 0:30 show. Sometime before 10 AM today*, they changed the schedule, adding a 30 more to Italian Soccer (which has a late night replay) and just ripping it out of CMLL lucha (which does NOT have a late night replay.)

CMLL must’ve known this in advance, because there was a lot more surgical editing than usual. Instead of just skipping segments like usual (like in the recaps I’ve been putting up, actually), they re-did the show to make it fit better. The stand up intro was cut completely, most of “En Casa De Black Warrior” was cut, and the commercial bumpers were mostly gone. As a result, they were able to air all of the opener (no breaks between falls, all in one long segment) and the third fall of the main event.

This is much improved over the old way of doing it. I’d prefer a timeslot (or timeslots) where no editing is done, but if it has to a be a half hour, this is good.

Accion

CMLL: Universo vs Marco! Universo gets a fail with a camel clutch. Universo gets a plancha, Marco does Air Italia. Cien Caras argues with a ref about something (Dr. Morales talks about a foul – we don’t see it) and Marco small packages Universo for the win – with the ropes, with Rey helping him hold onto the ropes. Not so clean, though I suppose that’s the best you can hope for with Universo.

AAA: Hellbrothers vs Mesias/Cuervo/Ozz (no location listed). We get entrances. Mesias is looking like a normal guy – no visible burn marks, at any rate. He heals good. Cibernetico puts his hands on Konnan’s wheelchair, and Konnan sprays him in the face with some white powder. Mesias spears Cibernetico into a table, though Ciebrentico falls down short and he doesn’t really go thru it, just into it. Some point later, Pepe Casas awards Cibernetico the match.

03/04: Ultimo Dragon @ Coliseo, Accion

UDG (SUN) 03/04 Arena Coliseo [Mostro_K-Bron @ Satanico’s Mansion]
1) Bryan Lee, Kazuchika Okada, Toshiya Matsuzaki b Arkangel, Daisuke Hanakoa, Negro Navarro
2) Mima Shimoda & Sahori b La Nazi & Rosa Negra
3) Shocker b Chad Malenko [NWA IJH, torneo, qf]
4) Hirooki Goto b Veneno [NWA IJH, torneo, qf]
5) Alex Koslov b Pierroth Jr. [NWA IJH, qf, torneo]
6) Ultimo Dragon DDQ Tajiri [NWA IJH, torneo, qf]
7) Brazo de Oro, La Mascara, Loco Max b Hajime Ohara, Hiromi Horiguchi, Okumura
8) Shocker b Alex Koslov [NWA IJH, torneo, sf]
9) Hirooki Goto b Shocker [NWA IJH, torneo, final]

In their match, Tajiri blew mist at Dragon when he went for a top rope ‘rana, Dragon faked a foul, and the ref decided that was enough of that. This gave Goto a bye to the final, and while Shocker gave him a hard fight, Goto beat him to take the title. Goto becomes the 18th champion, and the first after a 22 year hiatus. I have no idea what (or WHO) is going with this belt.

There was an opener that the reviewer didn’t catch. La Mascara beat Ohara to win that match, so they might still be feuding, once every four months. I’m not completely sure which Pierroth that was, but I’m going with the name they’ve been using. Next big DF show for this group is May 12th, I believe – it doesn’t matter enough to go back and check.

ACCION

CMLL: Mistico vs Perro, what else? Mistico got busted one and his mask ripped apart in here, but railed to get in a dive and a La Mistica. Not as much shown of this match as I thought there might

AAA: Joe Lider, Crazy Boy, Psicosis vs Black Buffalo, Spider Nate Webb, Josh Raymond – Tim’s totally right, Josh Raymond gets wheel kicked in the face and that’s the end of Josh Raymond. Chessman helped drag Psicosis onto Black Buffalo for the pin, so there was likely some wackiness we didn’t otherwise see.

01/28: AAA TV, Nicho, IWRG, Accion

AAA TV (THU) 01/25 Gimnasio Agustin Millian Results
1) Pegasso, Super Fly, Terry 2000 b Policeman, Sepulturero, Toxico
2) Mascarita Divina, Mascarita Sagrada, Octagoncito b Jerrito Estrada, Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Charly Manson
3) Crazy Boy, Joe Lider b Alan, Decnnis [AAA TAG, 1st]
4) Juventued Guerrera, Psicosis II b May Flowers, Pimpinela Escarlata [AAA TAG, 1st]
5) Alberije, El Elegido, Laredo Kid, Oriental b Abismo Negro, Antifaz del Norte, Histeria, Mr. Niebla
6) Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico b Cuervo, Escoria, Ozz

Mascaraita Sagrada was hurt badly off an impact to the back of his head. According to AAA’s report, he lost consciousness and went into convulsions. He’s hospitalized and apparently conscious and they’re checking for a spinal fracture.

No mystery tag team, unless Juvi & Psi II are a mystery to you. triplea.com does not note any breakup angle.

In the semimain, Abismo tried to throw fire at Elegido, but Oriental bumped him, Elegido pinned him, and Hijo de Tirantes fast counted him.

The Dark Family had some help in the main event, from Head Hunter I and someone they don’t make clear – Espiritu? After the match, Pres. Roldan came out and talked about the AAA/Hell Brothers alliance again.

Super Luchas posted their interview with Nicho, from last week’s magazines. Highlights include
– he was kidnapped for extortion money, and was framed for the non-existent crime by a retired police offer and a newspaper writer.
– WWE let go of him because they couldn’t get a hold of him during that time; they were going to reintroduce him as Psicosis in ECW
– He’s hoping to get another tryout with WWE in 2008, thanks to Rey Misterio
– CMLL stripped him and Familia de Tijuana of the trios titles because CMLL thought they were going to bolt with them (since they’re Mexican Nationals titles, that’s legal and been done.) Nicho wanted to bring his belt home one night to show off to his family, CMLL didn’t like that idea and suspected him of jumping.
– He’s planning to work in CMLL in March, but doesn’t want to be stuck working for one promotion, and will remain an independent. He’s friendly with Konnan and gotten feelers from TNA, but both AAA and TNA would want to control his dates, and that’s not what he wants right now.

IWRG (THU) 01/25 Arena Naucalpan Results
1) Vampiro Metálico b Celestial
2) Truama I, Truama II b Antaris, Puma King
3) Black Stone, Camorra, Macho II b Bacteria, Halcon Salvaje, Kid Tiger
4) Cerebro Negro, Esfinge, Freelance b Avisman, Black Terry, Shigeo Okumura
5) Nitro, Olímpico, Último Guerrero b Dos Caras Jr., Negro Casas, Negro Navarro

Negro Casas and Negro Navarro couldn’t get along as a team, which is a blatant excuse for a singles match next week. I’m okay with that.

IWRG (THU) 02/01 Arena Naucalpan Results
2) Trauma I, Trauma II vs Bactiera, Golem
3) Fabian el Gitano, Freelance, Kid Tiger vs Black Terry, Black Stone, Black Jaguar
4) Volador Jr., Suicida, Esfinge vs Veneno, Camorra, Nitro
5) Negro Casas vs Negro Navarro

Accion:

CMLL: Dos Caras Jr., Rey Bucnaero, Mistico vs Terrible, Halloween, Perro Aguayo Jr. – Dos murdered Halloween on the apron sunset flip powerbomb. About as violent as I’ve seen that look. Halloween was stretchered out. Mistico was wearing pink, which is odd. Rey was getting the best of Perro, so Perro just had enough off that and fouled him.

AAA: Super Porky, Gronda, Intocable vs Scorpio Jr., Alan Stone, Zumbido – this is from last taping, with the Oriental injury angle we don’t see. Scorpio’s bleeding as we start the clips, of course. There’s nothing quite like trying to see Intocable and Gronda work a partner whip and hunable to decide who’s actually getting whipped. Looks like every Guapo/Porky match ever, and then Chris and Hator came in to attack after the pin, but we don’t see much of that.

01/21: Accion, Tijuana, Misterioso II

The big news on Accion is they got a new graphics package. And also matches – neither got as much time as usual.

CMLL: Wagner/Shocker/Univeros vs Park/Ultimo/Atlantis. Universo did his plancha, Wagner did his ramp dive, taking out the Guerreros. This left Park and Shocker in. They set up a spot where Shocker went for a spear, Park moves, and referee Babe Richard takes it, except that Babe wasn’t really lined up behind Park – Shocker had to slightly turn to make it work, and it didn’t look accidental at all. He should’ve got DQed for that, but Park makes a show of getting fouled.

AAA: Park/Octagon/Intocable vs Cibernetico/Chessman/Charly from Puebla. Parka’s big comeback move is punching people in the face. They still seem to be working this the same way as always, despite the Hell Brothers semingly being good guys by now. Parka blatantly fouled Cibernetico (it was Copetes who called for the DQ) and that’s all we see.

Friday night in Tijuana Super Muneco won the mask of Coco Negro. His name is Gustavo Martinez, from Mexico City, but he’s more specifically a random person put under a Coco mask to partner with Coco Rojo and help build the Coco/Muenco feud. [YucaRod on Box Y Lucha, Abraham A. Domínguez Ramirez on el Halcon]

El Halcon also has a reprint of a local article – Misterioso II talks about a fight he got in with a fan. (This is the video in comments, right?) Fan threw a beer, Misterioso was angry, Misterioso wanted to throw a beer back at the fan, couldn’t get one, and so he just slapped him. He now realizes that was not the way to go, but something had to be done, and he feels there’s a segment of fans who don’t respect them.

Ricky Marvin, and partner Kotaro Suzuki, won NOAH’s GHC Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championship.

01/13: Accion

CMLL: Perros vs tecnicos from Arena Mexico. Lots of Perros highlights. Perro’s filming Hector with a camera when Wagner launches off the ramp onto Wagner, and then that starts the comebacks. Garza pulls the mask and ditches it, and Perro pins him for the win.

AAA: Parka, Gronda, Octagon vs Cibernetico, Chessman, Charly Manson from the last taping of ’06. Seems like the same match they were doing before the Hellbrothers became tecnicos, except the Hell Brothers are actually going to win before the Sect runs out and beats them up.

Did La Parka Jr. get suspended on TV? I’m not quite following the thread on Box Y Lucha, but it sounds like he got suspended for “one week” (one episode of TV, or it’s long been over since this episode was taped weeks ago.)

My TiVo is acting very strange today, so it may be a while before I can get to reviews and/or recover from the pain of it not taping the season premiere of 24. Yay for pirated video on the internet.

01/07: Accion

CMLL.com is under the impression that Averno accepted a challenge for a mask match, and not a title match. They would know, but we’re probably still a ways from having it.

Mictlan is listed as working next Sunday, so…[throws up hands].

Accion highlights

CMLL: Mistico vs Averno. All the usual spots, plus Avenro got to work his tope con giro in. They gave these clips a lot of time, and there were a lot of highlights to show.

AAA: The Relevos AAA atomicos match which led off GdT, but that they didn’t actually show. I guess they showed it this week? (Well, obviously, or it wouldn’t be here.) This set of clips got a lot of time too – I guess Accion was running short this week. Seemed like as good as these things are. Gran Apache ends up shoving Billy Boy into Fabi Apache, and Fabi goes flying to the floor. That never helps a relationship. Also, they lose.
