AAA Heroes Inmortales: 2015-10-04

Recapped: 10/04/2015

What happened: A show long storyline had Myzteziz annoy La Sociedad enough that they ended up laying him out with a guitar by the end of the show. He wanted to be on his own and appears to be – Alberto & Rey made no attempt to save him.

Alberto retained the heavyweight title over Johnny Mundo when Mundo was spotted using that same guitar by Hijo del Tirantes. Mundo had slapped Tirantes moments earlier, and Tirantes played it fair after that as he usually does, disqualifying Mundo. The rudos beat up Mundo and second Psycho Clown, Rey made the save, Myzteziz attacked him, La Sociedad attacked Myzteziz and eventually Alberto and Rey ran everyone out. Alberto thanked his hometown fans after the match.

what

Pentagon Jr. & Joe Lider’s ten month zero defense tag team title reign came to an end earlier in the night. Angelico & Jack Evans won the championships for the second time when Jack pinned Steve Pain (the only rudo not wearing Perros del Mal gear.) Pentagon Jr. might have won the match and kept the title earlier except for Myzteziz running into break up a pin. Myzteziz seemed to attack all three teams and there was no rhyme or reason to his attack.

Myzteziz also did not get along with Hijo del Fantasma and Texano Jr. in their trios match against Rey Mysterio Jr., Psycho Clown and the debuting Garza Jr. (Hijo del Ninja doing Hector Garza spots.) The rudos kept it together enough to get the win – Myzteziz beating Garza – but it apparently was a fakeout to set up the attack later.

a bit familiar

One Perros del Mal member did win on the night: Taya kept the Reina de Reinas championship by making her first defense. She pinned the debuting Lady Maravilla with her northern lights suplex/double stomp combination. Lady Shani was the other surprise wrestler in a surprisingly strong match.

Not all the debuting luchadors lost. Taurus, a new Minotaur-iish creature, shockingly won this year’s Copa Pena. He threw out half the field, eliminating La Parka last to win. Not much is known about Taurus but he appears to be – like Garza Jr., Shani and Maravilla – a Mexican luchador give a new/bigger role rather than any of the rumors foreigners or outside big names.

NEW HERO

What was good? Most of the show. The three way tag was the best match on the show, with the women’s match also being a standout. Most everything was good, though the main event had the combination of the usual AAA main event tropes and a clear desire not to beat either man. The LU Alberto/Mundo matches were better than this one, but you got the impression this wasn’t the last one in AAA.

There were no real problems with the iPPV once you got it running. (I think it went out for 2 seconds for me, it was fine when I refreshed.) Getting it running was the tough part. An issue with Paypal slowly processing payments was preventing people from being authorized to watch the show. Some people had to wait for a half hour before they were able to get in, some people never seemed to be able to get in.

Where can I watch it? If you can get them to take your money, the VOD is already up on http://internetvluchalibreaaa.com/. The show should start to air on AAA’s TV show starting on 10/17 (one week later than expected, as Monterrey was cut into two shows.)

recap – was 11 pages. I need help. No one should read this and I need to apologize to the English language, which I have murdered.

Just a couple general thoughts: the look of the show was good, but the production of this show was not very good. It took them about seven matches to get something simple like the microphone levels right, it really should’ve taken them about two minutes and there’s no reason for there to be a buzzing noise for two matches. I lost track of how many spots were completely missed. They always could find the action on the replay, which means they had enough cameras and the cameramen themselves were getting the right shots, but whoever was choosing between the shots was making the wrong choice time after time. This is not a new thing for AAA – it’s an old trademark – but it’s something they have not been doing on TV late, which really stuck when I saw it here. This all points towards this being a Televisa issue and not an AAA one, but it made the PPV less enjoyable to watch than it probably was live.

Also, I understand the importance of tradition and continuity, but at some point you’ve got to put more emphasis on the best show for the fans. I’m thrilled Arturo Rivera is out of the hospital and appears to be doing better, but he was in no vocal shape to be out at the announce both for four hours. One match would’ve been fine. I want to say the same about Octagon, but this was a very casual fan dominated audience, and he was still a star to this crew because they smartly had him work a minute and get out.

There are TEN gifs next, but they’re smaller than usual. Your computer still may explode.

AAA Rey de Reyes (03/18/2011)

taped @ Plaza de Toros Monumental Aguascalientes, 03/18/2011

professionalism

I’ve got links to the TV versions of the two matches that have aired, but the PPVs are complete. WarriorX2000 has them up, though they may be in his PPV section.

Gran Apache, Mari Apache, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Hijo de Tirantes, Mini Histeria, Sexy Star, Yuriko: Told the Apache/Tirantes story well, everyone else played their part. Tirantes took the loss but still made the eventually singles match meaningful.

Jack Evans, Joe Lider, La Parka, Nicho el Millionario vs Billy el Malo, Cibernético, Escoria, Nygma: Usually bit of slight of hand to allow Cibernetico to wrestle about 1 minute of a 19 minute match. Not sure if Parka is actually the guy in better shape in the feud (doubtful) or if Cibernetico’s just decided the best thing for this feud is for him to not have to sell much (likely). The whole bit with the fire was reckless but unsurprising.

Dr. Wagner Jr., Monster Clown, Murder Clown, Psycho Clown vs Damián 666, el Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Halloween, Super Crazy: Again, the same hardcore match they’ve been doing nearly weekly, with a few ‘special’ spots for shock value. (Shocked the cameraman, who missed the table being on fire right in front of him.) If this is end for Perro Jr. for now, he goes out with a clean (as they go here) win over Dr. Wagner; they were clearly building both Wagner/Perro and Perros/Clowns (for the masks) for future matches, and at least one of those is now off.

Zorro vs Charly Manson for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship: Horrid. Back at Guerra de Titanes, I was confused as to why they didn’t let Dr. Wagner and Zorro have any semblance of a match without constant interference. They had much less interference (at least during most of the match) and let these two guys work. These two were just very bad at it. Charly tried, but there’s only so much Charly can do. Zorro – I have no idea what the actual deal with Zorro here was, but he performed a lot like a guy in no condition to perform. The Mr. Aguila/Rey Bucanero match had a crowd that came in only caring about Tirantes and the two guys weren’t good enough to get them when Tirantes left. This crowd was totally willing to get into Zorro & Charly, and that crowd was quiet by midway thru.

Tiger wins

Electroshock vs Heavy Metal: announced as a bull terrier match, but it turned out to just be a three falls match. And a three falls match where the first two falls were relatively pointless, so who knows. I think they had a lot of ideas, but did not do the best job of putting them together in a coherent manner (Like: Pepe Casas gets bumped at the end – and then it changes absolutely nothing.) There was a story they were telling with the guitars, but sometimes it was a lethal match ender, and sometimes it was just a bit at the start of matches. This was okay, but didn’t feel like the best match in the series. Seemed like this should’ve built to Metal & Electroshock teaming up from here on out, but Metal might have driven himself out of that spot.

Extreme Tiger vs El Mesías, LA Park, Carlito for the Rey de Reyes Tournament: Piero is pretty patient in starting his countout. The big bump was not big by Mesias crowd brawling standards, but the brawl was good enough to make up for it, and they gave Carlito and Extreme Tiger enough time to get the crowd to start paying attention to them and not the fight they just saw. Tiger’s win was marginalized by Wagner walking out to the ring and essentially cutting his promo for him – TIger at least needed to say a few words, and it was a lot better when they just cut that off in the TV version. Still, if they wanted Tiger to come off as an AAA star, he should’ve beat an AAA star, rather than just a guy passing thru.
