Match 1: Leono & Robin vs Apocalipsis & Ramstein
Arena Mexico, 10/29/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:16
Rating: below average
Notes: Referee is Bestia Negra.
1: Leono and Apocalispis start, with Ramstein running into break holds just to keep himself occupied. Apocalipsis does the same thing with Robin and Ramstein in. Rudos eventually just take over the fall. Announcers go crazy for the leg split spot. Rudos are in no hurry to win the fall, stretching it out (to make up for the opening cycles not going that long.) They get around to it on the third time thru. I have no idea what Ramstein's finish is supposed to be.
2: Even Ramstein's new outfit can't hide how fat he's getting. Rudos beatdown lasts for a couple minutes until the blow the rebound hiptoss spot. No one knows what to do, they settle on clothesline him out out, then the rudos standing around so Leono can hit him like scheduled. Leono's quebredora on Ramstein is challenging. Tecnicos win soon after.
3: Robin's day goes much smoother in his showcase. Leono armdrags and headscissors Apocalipsis a lot, then dumps Ramstein for Robin's tope con giro. Apocalipsis last a bit longer, but there's no reason why.
Match 2: Aéreo, Bam Bam, Último Dragoncito vs Pequeño Nitro, Pequeño Olímpico, Pequeño Warrior
Arena Mexico, 10/29/2013
Winner: técnicos
Match Time: 13:05
Rating: ok
Notes: Referee is Tirantes, who's confusing me by wearing black suspenders over a black shirt. Warrior is wearing his Psicosis mask just to remind us of how often he loses apuesta matches and how dumb it is to care about any of this, I'm fairly certain. He's a deep thinker.
1: Pairs are Aereo/Olimpico, Dragoncito/Nitro, Bam Bam/Warrior. Tirantes is totally cool in letting Warrior wrestler in the Psicosis mask because who cares. He quickly dropkick Bam Bam out as things pick up at the end of the exchange, then slow right back down when Olímpico gets involved. Warrior gives Aereo the powerbomb into th corner, so that's his idea and not Shockercito. Tirantes finally gets around to yelling at Warrior for his mask at the end of the fall.
2: Nitro has a nice double stomp on Aereo. Corner charges for Bam Bam, then Dragoncito – only Tirantes has been counting all along and calls for the excessive double teaming DQ. It's a 10 count this time, and not a good finish. Rudos immediately beat up the técnicos.
3: Tecnicos get in control because as if they got the comeback last fall (because that clearly wasn't the finish they wanted.) Bam Bam manages to go thru his hole showcase without saluting the crowd, a big step for him. Bam Bam comes back for a second time and gets attacked by all the rudos, then there's a whip where the rudo don't have any idea what to with Bam Bam when he stops. Aereo and Warrior come in, Warrior this Aereo, grabs him, and holds him upside down . Nitro eventually realize he's meant to come in and dropkick Aereo, and Warrior has to hold Aereo up for a while (which seems like a big strain). That was not well planned. Rudos get the rebound hiptoss on Aereo, all go to pose, and Aereo powerbombs Nitro off the ropes for a three count. That was dumb. Olímpico faceslams Aero to beat him. Warrior puts Dragoncito in a time killing hold, but Bam Bam breaks that up. Olímpico huracanrana on Bam Bam, Bam rolls thru and holds on for three.
Match 3: Fuego, Pegasso, Sagrado vs Boby Zavala, Sangre Azteca, Virus
Arena Mexico, 10/29/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 8:28
Rating: below average/ok
Notes: Referee is Bestia Negra.
1: Pairs are Sagrado/Sangre, Fuego/Zavala and Pegasso/Virus. Sagrado and Sangre aren't as smooth as normal. Pegasso is an odd pick to go last but gets in lots of armdrags. Sangre takes him out, Sagrado takes him out, Zavala takes him out, and Fuego takes Bobby out. Bobby stops the run by dropkicking Fuego in the knee, Sangre adds a low blow dropkick, and Fuego is finished. Rudos try to finish Pegasso with a powerbomb, Pegasso turns it around with a huracanrana and that's a surprise 3.
2: Rudos isolate and work over Pegasso to start the fall, making tags and stopping Pegasso from doing the same. Sangre has a close all after a kick to the backside, and clears off the técnicos apron after subduing Pegasso. Flapjack gets two, because Sagrado breaks it up – and then just stays in, rendering all what we just aw completely pointless. Rudos work over Sagrado and Fuego in turn. Fuego takes another Sangre low blow dropkick, then gets pulled into a crossface by Virus. Fuego won't give, Virus rolls him over for his cradle, and Fuego gets his feet on the ropes. Virus attacks the other técnicos and holds Fuego just close enough to make a tag anyway. Sagrado comes in, gets attacked from behind and stomped right out. This a match without a good grasp on highs and lows. Rudos all stomp Pegasso, and there's a moment where it seems like they might do two straight matches with excessive violence disqualified. That seems plausible on this how. Técnicos figure out attacking in mass actually woks, and clear the ring without much trouble. Pegasso goes for a dive, rudos trip him up, Sagrado and Fuego tope Sangre and Zavala. Virus and Pegasso into finish it, Pegasso headscissors cradle for two. Pegasso casita one two NO. Pegasso battles to a waistlock, Virus obvious mule kicks him for a foul, and that's the match.
Stellar Moments
La Llave: Ultimo Dragoncito grounded octopus on Pequeño Olímpico
El Triunfo: Eléctrico straight jacket cavernaria
Lo Doloroso: Goya Kong sit down powerbomb on Seductora
La Plancha: Stuka Jr. plancha on Felino
El Tecnico: Mascara Dorada roll up on Niebla Roja
Match 4: Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Dragón Rojo Jr., Pólvora, Rey Escorpión
Arena Mexico, 10/29/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:17
Rating: good
Notes: Atlantis' name is on one of the tombstones, which kind of seems mean. Referee is Bestia Negra.
1: After showing the entrances, they jump to the rudos having jumped the técnicos in the ring. I dunno. Corner clotheslines for Delta. Boot, and sunset flip reversed into a dropkick on Maya. No Atlantis in, rudos toss Delta into a Pólvora dropkick instead. Atlantis makes the tag now, and he's sentoned by Dragon Rojo and Pólvora before Escorpion submits him.
2: Atlantis is hung over the top rope for Escorpion's usual axhandle. Maya takes a backdrop. Double boot to Maya sends him out. Dragon Rojo half nelson cradles Delta for a near fall. Rudos slowly give Atlantis the rebound hiptoss, he lands on his feet, they knock him down, and Escorpion runs into his usual monkey flip tot eh floor. Other técnicos beat other rudos. Atlantis chases Rey Escorpion around and around.
3: Rey Escorpion keeps running, so Delta and Dragon Rojo start instead. Announcers promoting Marco Corleone appearances is so cheesy. Delta looks like an old schools action figure and bends with the same lack of fluidity. Very stiff springboard clothesline to end their exchange. Escorpion elects to stay in with Atlantis, and just takes monkey flips all over the place. Escorpion finally escapes after a dropkick. Maya shows off his armdrags and headscissors with Pólvora, and surprise everyone (cameras included) with a tope on Pólvora. Delta pulls of a ringpost tope con giro on Dragon Rojo. Escorpion takes a big bump upon seeing Atlantis, so he's pretty well doomed. Armdrag, quebradora, casadora cradle, three.
Match 5: La Sombra, Máscara Dorada, Super Porky vs Morphosis, Mr. Águila, Volador Jr.
Arena Mexico, 10/29/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:37
Rating: below average/ok
Notes: Mije is out with Morphosis. Aguila has a lot of crazy outfits. Sombra can't let Volador walk to the ring in peace, and they face off in the aisle. Well, Sombra faces off, Volador pays him no mind while shaking hands with the people. Sombra backs up to the ring. Crowd chants for Volador and boos Sombra. Referee is Tirantes.
1: After that, match starts with Porky/Morphosis fat comedy. Morphosis into crane poses today. Moving on, Aguila and Sombra as a set up to the return of the dangerous Volador surprise dropkick to the back of head. Invasors beat up the técnicos from there. Sombra takes his required trip into the barricade. Volador turns to slam Porky and covers him for three, though the announcers are sure it was only 2. It's tough to see, because the camera and Porky blocks off Tirantes. Aguila beats Dorada in one move.
2: Slowest ever swinging gate bomb on Dorada. Invasors are really not taking this out first gear tonight. Dorada takes his backdrop to the apron. Volador corner superkicks Sombra. Catapult hold so Aguila can get in his legdrop. Porky is scared by all three rudos attacking him, though their attack is pretty pathetic. Double dropkick meets porky splash. Dorada gets picks off Morphosis, the only one left standing, with a floating headscissors. Volador tries a sunset flip on Porky that doesn't work, Aguila distracts to prevent the sit and tries a sunset flip himself, Volador goes to break it up but Sombra trips him up. Porky lands the sit, Dorada takes care of Morphosis to end the fall.
3: Porky does Porky stuff with Morphosis. Volador refuses to face Sombra and sends Mije in. Sombra shoves down Mije, and Volador gets the fans to chant at him. Sombra angrily lifts Mije up a, and tosses him all the way to the floor on Volador, who tosses Mije into the crowd! Dorada has a spectacular flipping run, but gets in all of one armdrag before Aguila parts. Volador waved in, Sombra into face him. Evasion, Volador headscissors, Sombra pops up and corner clotheslines him, Volador pops up and superkicks him in in the corner. They end up on the outside while replays an Mije are shown and Volador comes on top with the Asai moonsault. Other four in, rudos lined themselves up up for the multiple splashes, Dorada splashing and splashing and splashing and probably could go on forever if Porky didn't stop him. Porky splash, Dorada sits on top, and three count.
Announcers wrap up.
