Announcer intro is at the top of the show! They may actually know all the matches which are airing tonight (though they zoom in on JCR and mention the lightning match late, suggesting maybe that was added later. Estrellita is guest announcer.
Match 1: Ángel de Oro vs Misterioso Jr. in a lightning match
Arena Mexico, 09/20/2013
Winner: Angel de Oro
Match Time: 6:35
Rating: below average/ok
Notes: Referee is Terror Chino.
Crowd noise is either really turned down or non-existent. It's odd how they use shots of the clock to cover up edits. There's nothing much worth writing down for the first 90 seconds, then one kick to the back of the head is treated like death. It is in fact not death. Oro rallies back with a headscissors and a tope, hurries back in, and the cameras just catch up to him on this second tope. JCR assures the other annoucners that we didn't see a replay. They go back in, and immediately Misterioso rolls thru a pin because there's no such thing as momentum in lucha libre I guess. At least in this match. Pinfall turn taking, no one getting into the near falls except the luchadors. Fox Sports is putting up the graphic for the match multiple times during the match. That's generally something they should do more off – if you tune in during the second fall of a match, you should still be able to easily learn who's in it – but it's odd to do it three times in a four minute match so far. Oro gets in his outside in moonsault for his third dive. Angel de Oro gets up on the apron for Angel do Oro sequence #1, but Misterioso avoids the moonsault because it's his turn for a pinfall. Crowd is slightly whistling, but I've really turned on this one. Misterioso La Rosa, one two NO. Gori Special, Angel de Oro dramatic collapse, Misterioso lays on top for – two and half. Angel de Oro catches him in a cradle while he's complaining, but can't get three. Casadora cradle reversal back and forth lead to Misterioso in the mecedora for the submission. Angel de Oro gets up to celebrate, but collapses grabbing his back because of Misterioso's work, which is by far the best part of this one.
Match 2: Diamante Azul, Super Porky ©, Titán vs Pierroth, Pólvora, Rey Escorpión ©
Arena Mexico, 09/20/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:59
Rating: ok
Notes: Entrances kills a little time. Pierroth gets no TV time, at least shown here. Porky goes fright after the Revolucionarios, ducking Polvora's clothesline and running over Escorpion. Porky with closed fist punches to Escorpion's mask head, who has no idea what's going but would like to retreat. Porky knocks him into the ring. Referee is Babe Richard. Comandnate is with the rudos.
1: Everyone else lets Porky and Escorpion bet, and Porky chokes Escorpion in the corner before punching him out. JCR is pushing this a s Porky going back to his 80s rudo ways. Porky posts Escorpion and stomps him as he begs off. One more headbutt since Escorpion on his way. Everyone else has helpfully been on pause and waits for them to get back to their corners. Pierroth struggles to body slam Diamante Azul. Fox gets bored and cuts away from part of this, but not nearly enough. Titan immediately gets in the handwalk on the first Pólvora armdrag, but Pólvora shoves him off. They battle to a standoff. Escorpion is all happy to come in before he realizes he's trapped with Super Porky. Other rudos help and clear out the técnicos. Double suplex on Pólvora, Escorpion top rope legdrop, three count.
2: Rudos beatdown the técnicos, with Escorpion stomping Porky hard in the corner. Titan is thrown out of the crowd into Polvora's feet on the ramp, a pretty spectacular spot which gets no audible reaction down. That suggests they're doing something with the crowd noise. They are loudly chanting for Porky at points, which I guess could mean the sound engineer is really good. Or I don't know what's happening. Porky moves out of the way of a corner charge and walks around to start the comeback. Titan headscissors Pólvora under the ropes, when he stops awkwardly. Titan kicks down Pólvora, then goes over Polvora's shoulders to headscissors him to the floor. Pólvora seemed uncomfortable with that one. Azul and Pierroth have their usual trouble with quebradora before Azul lands a tope on Pierroth. Porky and Escorpion are left, Escorpion tries a waistlock and gets back elbowed, then falls down hard after running into Porky's stomach. Porky splash for the pin.
3: Pólvora nearly slips and falls down in shock at Titan handwalking in to Titanics. They finish up with a Titan diving headscissors from the apron. Escorpion runs. Azul and Pierroth happen. Escorpion spears the post on Porky, setting up others getting involved. Pólvora hits the ropes a Titan dives thru him, then pulls him in the center for a Pólvora Driver. Pólvora decided to pose on the middle rope instead of following up, and Titan pops back up to dropkick him out. Out. Pierroth attacks Titan and knocks him out of the ring in an awkward looking moment. Azul misses a dropkick on a non moving Pierroth, Pierroth lamely spears the post, and both Azul and Titan walk out to the ramp. Azul tope con giro one way, Titan tope con giro into other way. They take turns as to not cross in to each other. Inside, Escorpion manages to slam Porky land lands a senton, but then just keeps stomping and kicking him. Babe Richard is really quick to warn, and immediately calls the DQ after a shove.
Match 3: Averno, Último Guerrero, Volador Jr. © vs Atlantis, Blue Panther, La Sombra ©
Arena Mexico, 09/20/2013
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:54
Rating: ok
Notes: Fight starts while Volador is busy posing. No opening whistle. Referee is Tirantes.
1: Usually rivalry, with Volador walking slightly away from Sombra as the other two pairs choke each other. Sombra gives slow chase, and is thrown over the barricade. Candidate Volador meets and greets with the front row while the other guys choke and yank masks and such. Rudos come together to work over Averno, with Volador and Averno doing the rebound double faceslam to set up a kick to the face. Senton de la Muerte on Atlantis. Volador unties Sombra mask while UG submits Atlantis, then lets go of Sombra enough to back up and run in for the Volador Spiral.
2: Atlantis gets in a quebradora on Atlantis, but the rudos stop him from more. Two man powerbomb by Averno and Volador on Sombra. Rudos pull Panther on the apron for a Volador dropkick, which goes fine, only that leaves Sombra unguarded and able to pull Volador into a Brillante Driver. One two three. Crowd still booing. Rudos very confused about the finish.
3: Atlantis and UG compete for reactions, then UG slaps UG down and celebrates. Atlantis makes the comeback, UG takes the knee bump out, and they kind of brawl out there, with UG missing a big boot and crotching himself on the barricade. Panther and Averno slap each other in the chest, and then in the face. Panther gets in a DDT that does not look right at all, but part of it's the way DDTs are taken here. Panther headscissors Averno out and follows him with a tope. Volador and Sombra last, Sombra flipping run, ducking the super and reverse springboard back spring headscissors sends Volador to the ropes. Volador is very slow getting up. Sombra charges him, and charges right into a superkick. Volador celebrates, then covers for two. Volador takes his time, gets flipped to the apron, swing kicks Sombra back, and springboards into a Sombra dropkick. One two NO. Sombra climbs up, but Volador shoves him out of the ring. Volador to the apron, Sombra tries to sweep him, Volador evade and kicks him in the head, then apron headscissors him into the barricade. Other four make their way in, Averno sets up Atlantis on the top rope and UG pulls off the Guerrero Special after a moment for one pin. Averno puts on a kneebar on Panther to submit him.
Announcers mention we're only waiting for a date for Ultimo Guerrero & Atlantis. We may be only waiting for a while.
