CMLL on Fox Sports (Mexico) #370 (09/07/2013)
Recapped: 09/28/2013

Anniversary promo.

Recap of Block A, including the battle royal. Battle royal includes eliminations (Dorada manages to get thrown into a big dive, Averno does something dumb that gets him beat.) Matches get about 30 seconds. Rush submits Terrible. Mascara submits Dorada. Rey Escorpion shakes Averno's hand and pulls him into the cradle piledriver to advance. Mistica on Pólvora on something without Pólvora highlights. Mascara blocks the Rush Driver, but still loses to a suplex and a senton. Rey Escorpion escapes La Mistica and puts Místico down with his piledriver. Rey Escorpion gets in the corner dropkick on Rush, but Rush survives and drops Escorpion with his own piledriver to win the block.

Normal intro, with Roberto, Tiger and JCR. It's edited to take out the mention of Diamante Azul participating, though they still refer to “cuatro” técnicos and Okumura is not listed. Tiger is picking Mephisto, never go with what Tiger picks.

Again, only the eliminations are shown from the battle royal. This one is clearly edited after the fact.

Match 2: Dragón Rojo Jr. vs Titán in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: Dragon Rojo
Match Time: 3:37
Notes: A Titan showcase, though not all of it goes well with Dragon Rojo (who gets very tired very quickly.) Titan getting in all of his big spots is a big telegraph, and Rojo moves out of the way (sort of) on the handspring moonsault to set up the Dragon Bomb for the win.

Match 3: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs Shigeo Okumura in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: Hiroshi Tanahashi
Match Time: 2:18
Notes: Very obvious editing early. Tanahashi worked as a técnico, which was very odd given the rest of the tournament. Diamante Azul was not mentioned, or his mention was edited out. Okumura got in the Michinoku Driver so Tanahashi could kick out of it, then Tanahashi waved by the missile dropkick and got his own near fall. Dragon suplex blocked, German suplex ends it.

Match 4: La Sombra vs Mephisto in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: Sombra
Match Time: 4:27
Notes: Quick back and forth match – pretty much move turn taking – with guys kicking out of each other's near top moves. Sombra survives the valagueza, Mephisto survives the rope flip moonsault. Sombra middle rope springboard huracanrana almost goes badly wrong, and they're doing exhausted bits 3 minuets in. Sombra kicks out of the middle rope super Devil's Wings, which is a bit too much for a match like this. Double moonsault ends it.

Match 5: Virus vs Valiente in a Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: Valiente
Match Time: 3:00
Notes: Virus takes the Valiente armdrag to the floor and then the bullet tope, so this is already the best first round match. Virus tries to turn an armdrag into his usual cradle, Valiente escapes, Virus still gets in his backdrop and dropkick to the head. A painful looking Gori bomb wins it for Virus.

Blurb: maybe the best first round match, but still only 3 minutes.

Match 6: Dragón Rojo Jr. vs Hiroshi Tanahashi in a CMLL Universal Championship quarterfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: Tanahashi
Match Time: 3:49
Notes: Tanahashi attacks Dragon Rojo from behind, knocks his sombrero, then makes a point of stomping it. I think he might be a rudo. Tanahashi is all over Dragon Rojo early, Rojo reverse a headscissors into a faceslam, Rojo gets a run including a dive, Tanahashi cuts him off with a counter dropkick, Rojo sneaks in one cradle, Tanahashi randomly attacks Rojo's knee and submits him to a cloverleaf.

Match 7: La Sombra vs Virus in a CMLL Universal Championship quarterfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: La Sombra
Match Time: 3:08
Notes: Announcers note Virus teamed with Sombra in Brillante's second match in CMLL. Virus takes it to Sombra and is treated like an equal (though everyone seems to be.) Sombra turns it around to headscissors him out and follow with a tope con giro. Sombra escapes Virus' favorite cradle, then drops him with the Brillante Bomb.

Match 8: Hiroshi Tanahashi vs La Sombra in a CMLL Universal semifinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/30/2013

Winner: Tanahashi
Match Time: 5:40
Notes: They face off in the aisle, with Sombra headscissors Tanahashi and Tanahashi taking it terribly. Fine start. Sombra stomps him low as the whistle blows. Referee is Babe Richard

Sombra throws Tanahashi in and strips off his own shirt. Tanahashi begs off, then , walks into kicks. They have an awkward strike exchange, which ends up in chops. Sombra tries a kick, Tanahashi catches and dragon screws the leg. Stomps. Tanahashi stops to pose. Tanahashi slams Sombra and goes up – middle rope senton giro connects but only for two. Tanahashi argues the count. Tanahashi is walking oddly, his back clearly bugging him. Corner whip, corner splash, air guitar. Sombra gets in his own clothesline and air guitar. Clothesline sends Tanahashi out. Sombra goes for a tope, nailing Tanahashi in the head just as he gets up. Multiple replays of the dive. Both slow up in the ring. Sombra up first, but back to the chop fight. Tanahashi awkwardly sidesteps a dropkick and lands the Sling Blade for two. Replay of that. Tanahashi runs into a powerslam, double moonsault connects, two. Sombra dumps Tanahashi in the corner and goes up – then goes back down because Volador is out at ringside. Sombra confronts him, and then Babe Richard orders Volador to the back. Tanahashi gets in a kick as Sombra comeback, and drops him with a Hooligan Crash. Volador's still out there watching, and encourages Tanahashi on as he goes up. High Fly Flow, and that's it. Crowd is less than thrilled.

Replays take precedent over Volador and Sombra talking. Sombra is very sad about losing. More replays to close it out
