Noti CMLL (more or less): highlights of the press conference to set up the anniversary show. I enjoy how they leave in the parts where they all demand it just to be a singles match and nothing else when it's something else. Also, for some reason, this is shot from half way up the ceiling.
Announcers are Magadan, Riano (back!) and Miguel. They push the videochats on Televisa Deportes, as if they were required to by the network. (They were!) Hijo del Fantasma joins the announcers as this week's guest. The new guy is out in the lobby interviewing fans. They preview the matches. This is the longest open in forever.
Match 1: Rey Cometa vs Ephesto in a lightning match
Arena Mexico, 08/02/2013
Winner: Ephesto
Match Time: 5:00
Rating: good
Notes: Referee is Terror Chino.
Cometa gets the best of opening armbars and armdrags. Ephesto responds by faking a handshake and slapping Cometa into the corner. Corner clothesline. Choke around the ropes. Cometa reveres a corner whip, but runs into a boot to the face. Ephesto flips him out with a clothesline and gets a two count. Cometa fights back by getting his knees up on a plash and adds a standing moonsault, but only two. Cometa headscissors Ephesto out and follows with a strong tope. Replay of that. Cometa sets up to run the buckles, but Ephesto slaps him on the way up. Ephesto starts co climb up, but Cometa cuts him off with a cutter over the ropes. Ephesto back to the floor, Cometa lands the Brillo Cometa (and lands on his feet!) Cometa back in first, and suplexing Ephesto in to join him. Still two. Cometa quebradora, two count. Ephesto slaps Comet,a scoops up, and drops him with the shoulderbreaker. Ephesto and Terror Chino say something to each other before Ephesto covers, one two no! Ephesto with a hair pull angelito. Cometa gives, but argues with the referee after. He should – as Fantasma points out, the hairpull should make the hold illegal.
Upcoming lineups: 08/11 in Arena Coliseo – Marco Corleone, La Sombra, Máximo vs Mephisto, Volador, Ephesto
Match 2: Máscara Dorada, Super Porky, Titán vs Namajague, Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
Arena Mexico, 08/02/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:12
Rating: ok
Notes: Monito is with Super Porky. Namajague wears his mask to the ring. Referee is Terror Chino.
1: Titan & Namajague start slow, speed up to an even exchange at the end. Mascara Dorada, who has a crazy outfit on, springboards in to face Okumura. They don't get far. Taichi and Porky fool around, mostly involving Porky moving little and Taichi falling down. Taichi goes out of a belly bump, Porky teases dive, and Titan actually springboard moonsaults onto Taichi. Técnicos rap it up.
2: Shaky the camera every time someone hits the mat is so annoying. Titan gives Namajague a springboard DDT on the apron, which looks great an hilarious with Namajague's bump. Dorada flips off Okumura's back and springboard headscissors him out. Taichi pulls off the Rush corner slap on Porky, but actually only succeeds in turning around the match when Titan springboard dropkick Porky by mistake. (Porky's attempt to take a bump there was not so good.) Namajague knocks down Dorada with a back elbow, and quickly finishes him with a frog splash. Magadan calls him “Nakamura”, professional. Okumura brainbusters Titan, then steps him up for Taichi, but Taichi has to take of his pants first. Walking knee smash to the face looks a little stronger than Sunday.
3: Taichi kicks Porky, who gets up and squashes him in the corner anyway. Rudos come back with more kicks. Okumura & Namajague liven up the action on Dorada, with a wheelbarrow faceslam/suplex back to back. Namajague goes for Titan's mask. Crowd chants loudly for Porky as he stands in the ring to help. He gets slapped around. This match has really slowed down. Porky grabs the ropes on the whip, splashes Okumura, and starts the comeback. Titan springboard dropkick, Mascara floating headscissors (no ropes)!, Pokry planchas Namajague from the apron, and Monito adds his splash. Dorada headscissors Okumura out, crowd hot, Dorada springboard moonsault onto him. Titan and Taichi in, conversation, Titanics, done.
Taichi (and Namajague) attack Titan after the fall. Referee separates them. Taichi walks away, but Titan gets up and goes after him. They brawl out on the ramp, with the técnicos helping out and chopping Namajague when he gets involved.
Tecnicos post match promo doesn't even mention the Taichi attack. They do hype the anniversary show.

Match 3: La Sombra, Marco Corleone, Rush vs Averno, Mephisto, Volador Jr.
Arena Mexico, 08/02/2013
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 5:39
Rating: angle more than match
Notes: Rush has permanently switched to the Chris Benoit/Our Lady Peace song, it seems. Rudos are all wearing baseball jerseys. Volador & Mephisto have catchers masks, Mephisto has a chest protector, and Averno & Volador have bats. Volador charges the ring and tries to hit Sombra with the bat, but Rush and Tirantes stop that. Rudos just hit Rush with the bats instead (though very safely.)
1: Tirantes immediately calls the DQ! I have it as two seconds, that may be long. Rudos are upset for a second, then go back to beating up the técnicos. Volador likes nothing better than to hit the bat on the mat so it goes right past the guy he's trying to hit. (Replays tend to expose this.)
2: Volador works on Sombra's mask, then has Averno and Mephisto hold Sombra on the floor for a Sombra tope con giro. Replay of that, and back to see Rush suplexing Averno. Volador breaks th pin up with a kick to the head, and the rudos three man powerbomb Rush. No pin there. Women cheer for the return of Marco, but he doesn’t get accomplish much before he's grabbed (low) from behind. Rudos stomp down Sombra and hold him for a Volador superkick. Lazy whip, and Sombra sneaks in headscissors on Volador. Averno kicks Sombra out, but Rush (boos) comes in to face him. They're in no hurry, but why be in one when Rush back suplexes and sentons Averno easily. Mephisto helps out, gets dropkicked. Marco comes in to ignore Averno’s chops and punch him out. Rush tope con giros both rudos, then stands them back up for an Aero Italiano to the floor. Sombra and Volador in, Volador flipping run, Sombra slides past him, Volador clothesline misses, Volador shoves Tirantes on purpose then fouls Sombra. Sombra bends over a pin, but reaches up and grabs Volador's mask off, then rolls him up. Tirantes recovers, and isn't even looking at the pin when he counts three.
Volador complains to Tirantes, but Tirantes is not in a listening mood. Sombra is still on the mat from the foul when Volador gets the microphone to complain. Volador says Sombra's been gifted yet another win, but there will be no gifts on 09/13. Sombra has a different opinion on what'll happen on that day, but Volador cuts him off and stands on his bad ankle. Avernos creams at Sombra, and Volador pulls off Sombra's mask. Marco and Rush are long gone; Fantasma just complains about it from the apron.
Lots of replays and talking; they're filling more time than usual. More replays to end it.
