Recapped: 07/30/2013

Infierno en el Ring highlights include shots from their video interviews on Televisa Deportes. New guy asks fans who they think will lose. A lot of people seem to think Shocker's going to lose.

48 days until the Anniversary show.

CMLL Cartela: Sunday @ Arena Coliseo – Místico, Mascara Dorada, Valiente vs Averno, Mephisto and Ephesto.

Match 1: La Máscara ©, Stuka Jr., Titán vs Ephesto, Mephisto ©, Niebla Roja
Arena Mexico, 07/19/2013

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:37
Rating: ok
Notes: Mephisto is in his Jason gear. Ephesto has a new t-shirt! Bestia Negra is referee.

1: Pairs are Stuka/Ephesto,, Mascara/Mephisto, and Titan/Roja, with the last two blending into each other and Titan and Roja not in much on their own. Stuka tosses Titan to the top rope for a Spanish fly, but Niebla Roja blocks it and turns him into a full nelson. Ephesto shoulderbreaks Stuka near the corner, and Niebla Roja adds his full nelson face slam on top (so Titan splashes Stuka in the process.) Rudos cover both, and that's enough for the fall.

2: Mascara's thrown into the barricade just as the whistle blows. Titan gets the same, and Stuka takes a questionably low shot from Niebla Roja. Roja goes after Stuka's mask but doesn't get anywhere. Ephesto does better untying Mascara's mask. Mephisto helps out, distracting the ref, then taking Ephesto's face untying. Crowd is especially appalled when Niebla Roja joins in and almost get the mask off. Mascara is hung upside and dropkicked. Titan takes the flapjack kick, and Niebla Roja actually covers for a two count. Stuka gets in a monkey flip on Roja, but Ephesto kicks him down. Stuka flips himself out on a corner whip, Mascara comes in and steps in the corner, and out of the corner to move out of a laughable Ephesto charge. This is not a big show level of intensity. Mascara clears out the técnicos by himself, then slide out so Titan can springboard dropkick Ephesto. Titan jumps off Ephesto's back into a tope con giro on the outside, Máscara slams Ephesto for a Stuka's splash, and Mascara beats Mephisto.

3: Stuka showcase with Ephesto includes a push off headscissors off the apron. Mephisto slides out rather than face Mascara. Titan's backflip handwalk headscissors has a peculiar crowd shot in the middle of it. Mascara/Mephisto chop fight to set up Mascara's stripping, and a headscissors. Mascara slide out on Ephesto to set up Ephesto's dive, and Stuka is right on top of him with an Asai moonsault (or they're some editing). Niebla Roja tosses Stuka. Titan springboard in to a plancha Mephisto, and quickly huracanrana him – but only two. Titan and Mephisto have a brief moment of awkwardness, then Mephisto crotches Titan climbs the ropes. Mephisto crucifix powerbomb reversed into a Titan huracanrana does not look great, and the resulting is broken up by a Ephesto elbow drop. Time for everyone to do a move and break up another. Ephesto submission, Stuka superplex. Niebla Roja doesn't get anything before he's flipped to the ramp side apron, and some how they set up a stacked up superplex in the middle of the ropes. Titan springboard splashes Niebla Roja, everyone kicked out. Three rudo powerbomb on Mascara, though referee won't count until the other rudo stop touching the pin. Tecnicos break it up. Armdrags around, Titan with a tope con giro on Niebla Roja, Stuka with a tope to Ephesto, Mascara and Mephisto in, Mascara casadora, Mephisto gets away from the campana. Mephisto charges, Máscara puts him on top, Mephisto jabs him, hooks the arm,s looks around and drops Mephisto with a middle rope Devil's Wings. One two three.

Rudos have nothing particular to say.

CMLL Cartela: Tuesday @ Arena Mexico - Rey Escorpion, Dragon Rojo, Pólvora vs Euforia, Gran Guerrero, Niebla Roja

Match 2: Shocker vs MáximoRushBrazo de PlataBlue PantherNegro CasasRey BucaneroMr. ÁguilaAvernoRey Escorpión in a cage match and for the hair and for the mask
Arena Mexico, 07/19/2013

  1. Rush escapes (4:08)

  2. Rey Bucanero escapes (5:38)
  3. Blue Panther escapes (6:31)
  4. Negro Casas escapes (6:49)
  5. Averno escapes (7:57)
  6. Super Porky escapes (8:55)
  7. Máximo escapes (9:47)
  8. Rey Escorpion escapes (11:35)
  9. Shocker Dos Caras Clutch Mr. Aguila (0:59 segment, 13:32 total)

Loser: Mr. Aguila
Match Time: 13:32
Rating: eh
Notes: Entrances (because there's no hurry here.) They're using the side video boards on the entrance set to show images of the luchadors (or flames, earlier) and they've never done that before. Escorpion enters first, and kicks Porky as he comes in. They're really pushing the Infierno bit, which seems to give Averno home field advantage. Averno actually speed up when he gets near the ring to save Escorpion. Same for Panther, probably going to be the same for everyone until someone dives in. Shocker is wearing his mask again, though he dramatically unmasks on the stage. Mije walks out with Mr. Aguila, who's very careful about the steps and does not have his hair up. Negro Casas's photo seems 10 years old at least. Rush gets last entrance, and Negro decides to just wait to greet him on the stage. Rush angrily charges into a kick, but gets up and superkicks Negro. Rush rams Negro into the outside of the cage a couple times, throws him in and the cage door is locked.

Máximo is the first dope to try to climb out. Escorpion fights him on the ropes and pulls him down, so Rush actually gets to be the guy to climbs over. Rush tells the crowd off, and climbs on his own, though Negro's waiting to brawl with him on the top rope. Rush fights off Negro, but takes Tormenta Bucanero. Porky squashes Bucanero in turn. Averno, Shocker and Escorpion all senton Porky, and Panther tries to cover for a pin for some reason. Negro and Rush brawl to distract us from that. Máximo gets in a boost dropkick on Escorpion and early kisses Averno before Escorpion makes the save. This is a dance lines situation – guys are standing next to the ropes doing nothing while the other guys do spots. Rush dropkicks Negro in the corner and gets into a chop fight with Shocker. Shocker wins via headbutts, only to get superkicked anyway. I don’t think Mr. Aguila has moved out of the corner since he came in, but he does stomp and very weakly forearm Shocker when he ends up near. Release whistle is at 3:02, which is pretty close for this crew.

People go up, people get pulled down. Averno almost takes Maximo's skirt off. Rush corner clotheslines Negro, sets up for another dropkick to the face, and instead just runs up the ropes and climbs out. Rush is very proud of Rush, and poses and taunts the fans with his genius.

Shocker and Rey Bucanero climb on top of the cage and dumbly decide to fight each other instead of both just leaving. They both end up back in, Shocker being crotched on the ropes by Averno. Porky splashes his son and runs into Aguila, who is still just hanging out in the corner. Panther climbs up and looks around for someone to pull him down, which they do. Meanwhile, Averno tosses Bucanero for a flying sit, but he just latches onto the cage and climbs over.

Panther clotheslines Negro, DDTs Averno, gets halfway over, can't get his leg over, and makes it. Escorpion tries grabbing Panther over the cage and thru the cage, and it doesn't quite work.

Negro Casas breaks free next, kicking away Escorpion and Shocker and blowing kisses from the top of the cage. Máximo tries to go at the same time, but the gets caught.

Mr. Aguila, who appears to be conscious, throws some bad slaps to Porky in the corner. Máximo gets in offense on Escorpion and Averno, setting up his dead for a middle rope splash – but he only gets Escorpion. Máximo weakly misses a dropkick on Averno, Averno tries to step off Porky and escapes, slips and climbs out anyway, kicking Shocker away in the process.

Porky attempts to climb out, but is too slow and is caught by Escorpion. Aguila tries to climb (!!!) and gets plucked off by Shocker. They're down to Escorpion, Porky, Máximo, Shocker and Aguila. Máximo rushes up on the ropes to kiss Escorpion, causing him to fall, then uses his shoulder to lift Porky high enough to climb over the top. Crowd is happy.

Porky stays on the cage and tries to help his son, but Shocker's got him. Porky could leave, but he stays and punches shocker away, Máximo climbs up more – and Escorpion grabs him. Máximo elbows Escorpion, and gets away. Father and son hug and celebrate on the floor.

Shocker tiers to climb, but gets caught by the other two. Escorpion and Shocker slip off, and Shocker pulls Aguila off the ropes. Aguila throws a bad looking heel kick, and gets Escorpion by mistake. Shocker throws Aguila down by his hair (which also looks weird) and starts to climb. Mije has stayed ringside, huh. Rudos grab onto Shocker and climbs up with him, then ram Shocker into the stage of the cage. That cage gives a bit. Shocker's dropped to the mat, rudos high ten (or attempt to), Aguila jumps off or an elbow drop, but Escorpion jumps and turns 180 to grab onto to the cage. Escorpion climbs out immediately, leaving Aguila and Shocker to finish it.

Shocker climbs out right away, but of course course that doesn't count. Aguila, looking awake for the first time all match, climbs up after to bring Shocker back. Shocker and Aguila hang on the cage until they're ordered to come back. Shocker is still hanging on the cage when the whistle blows again.

Shocker chops Aguila, and Aguila doesn’t really sell it. Aguila throws a sloppy slap. Shocker suplex Aguila one, twice, three times, and covers one two no. Aguila looks at the crowd, fixes his pants, grabs Aguila, and out on his normal Dos Caras Clutch, which doesn't look as good as usual. One two three.

Shocker does not seem like a man happy about winning a cage match and keeping his hair at first, but he does remember he's supposed to celebrate after a few seconds. Aguila starts to go after him, but Shocker struts and dances away. Shocker does all sorts of wacky dances and gets in a shot on Aguila. Shocker cuts off part of Aguila's hair. Boos are loudly heard here; it was more a positive reaction after the match ended. Shocker takes some hair, goes out to glad hand the fans, and they're already taking down the cage as Aguila is getting his head shaved. Aguila is not really reacting. Shocker thanks his family and the fans for support.
