Match 1: Fuego, Rey Cometa, Stuka Jr. © vs Namajague, Puma King ©, Shigeo Okumura
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

  1. técnicos

  2. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:52
Rating: good
Notes: Joined with the rudos already beating up the técnicos, especially Puma on Cometa. Referee is Bestia Negra. Monito is with the técnicos.

1: Puma unties Cometa's mask, then flips him with a clothesline. Puma gets on top and throws punches with both hands. Everyone else seems to have returned to their corner., thought the técnicos are not in great shape. Puma flapjack, and then a heel kick to a seated Cometa. Whip, Puma tosses Cometa up, Cometa flips off his shoulder onto his knees, under Puma's clothesline, and flips around into an armdrag. Puma immediately bails, but Cometa jumps off the apron after him and takes him out with a diving headscissors. Namajague in but missing a dropkick. Stuka slaps Okumura down, then tags in his partner. Double flapjack to the masked Japanese, two man pumphandle powerbomb, double crab. Okumura breaks it up before a submission is called (can it be?) and gives Stuka a quebradora. Chops for Fuego, and the brainbuster is enough to take Fuego out – but Comet breaks it up with a kick. Cometa looks at Fuego and Okumura as they roll out, and Puma sneaks in behind him. They face off, and Puma knocks Cometa's gum out with a knife edge chop. Cometa spits him off the ropes, torito, Puma rolls thru, rolls Cometa to his feet, pulls of Rey's mask blatantly (Rey's face blurred), then tries an inside cradle anyway. I don't know he puma thinks that's going to work right in front of the ref, and it does not. Referee raises Stuka's hand.

Puma argues, then throws Cometa out and whips him into the barricade. Namajague and Okumura ward off the other técnicos (who are not in such a hurry to get involved.) Replays.

2: Cometa crawls and tags in Fuego, but he's overwhelmed by Okumaru. Corner clotheslines and such. Stuka tags in, but is back elbowed down immediately. Namajague takes over and headbutts Stuka. Loud double chop. Rudo fans ask for one more., but don't get it. Corner whip, corner clothesline, now the double chop. Namajague is very proud of himself, and the rudo fans are thrilled with him. Whip, Stuka over, into a back elbow. Namajague rolls Stuka to his feet, whip, backdrop. Stuka tags Fuego back in, but Okumura smacks Fuego from behind. Wheelbarrow faceslam combination by Fiebre Amarillo. Fuego tries to tag out, but Namajague drags him back. Fuego slaps Namajague down, Namajague does the multiple kip up bit (!), spins around, and pokes Fuego in the eyes. I'm going to miss this one. Fuego tags in Cometa, just as Puma is is finally tagging in. Puma demands a timeout. They circle. Cometa is still hurt, and grabbing his chest as Puma kicks him in the leg. Chop. By Puma. Corner whip, rebound out into a Puma superkick. Puma looks confident. Replay of the superkick. Whip, Cometa back with a headscissors. Cometa off the ropes, handspring meets a Puma dropkick – not timed/distracted right, and Puma connects with Cometa's knee, not his chest. Cometa holds his right knee a bit, with the rudo get together. Double clothesline sends Puma into the ropes, and Fuego and Stuka dropkick them. Referee lets it go. Puma takes a quebradora, and Cometa rips up Puma's mask! Namajague breaks that up and slaps Cometa thru the ropes. Stuka walks in, and Namajague armbars and kicks him. Corner whip, Namajague runs in, Stuka moves, Namajague takes a weird spear bump into the corner post. Stuka slams Okumura, goes up – and goes out with the dead man's plancha onto Namajague, flattening him. Monito splashes Okumura (!), Okumura throws him off, Fuego springboard dropkicks Okumura out, then goes out with his tope. Cometa and Puma left, Cometa flipping in the corner off a missile dropkick. Puma knocks the spit out of Cometa again with a chop. Corner whip, reversed, Cometa charges into Puma's superkick and Puma tacks on the frontcracker. One two NO! Both slow up. Puma strikes first, lifting Cometa up and tossing him near the corner. Puma climbs up, but Cometa is nearly as fast, swing kick Puma and slapping him. Both climb up, Cometa slips then climbs all the way up, Puma pushes him, Cometa flips off, Puma almost looses his balance in the process, Puma leaps off into a powerbomb. Cometa casita one two three.

Monito splashes Okumura from the apron for good measure. Cometa's mask is very ripped up. Cometa asks for the microphone and actually gets to talk! Puma struggles to his feet as Cometa says Puma always wins by cheating, but Cometa beat him clean in the center of the ring. Cometa wins, right in Arena Mexico, a mask vs mask match. Puma yells at everyone to be quiet, and then accepts the match.

Anniversary Show Promo #1: Rey Cometa vs Puma King

CMLL Cartela: Sunday @ Arena Coliseo. Negro's clip includes a shot of him with his title belt...

Match 2: Máscara Dorada vs Black Warrior in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Mascara Dorada
Match Time: 2:40
Notes: As with all matches, they're obviously joined in progress with a fake whistle. Referee is Edgar.

Warrior blows up Dorada with his tope about 10 seconds in. Replay, and cut to Warrior missing a corner charge to set up a Dorada top rope moonsault. It looks good. This is still silly. Warrior blocks a casadora cradle for two. Battle over casitas go Warrior's way, but Dorada kicks out at 2.5. There have been four spots in this match, and they've shown replays of three. Dorada fireman's escape armdrag leads right into Warrior's drop toe hold and 619. Warrior lazy hipblock takedown is turned into a headscissors armbar submission for Dorada. Graphic lists Mascara Dorada as the overall winner, which seems a bit premature.

Match 3: Terrible vs Mr. Águila in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Terrible
Match Time: 4:13
Notes: Ref is Pompin.

Aguila is too fast for Terrible, but Terrible's fist catches up with Aguila's face and that slows him down a bit. Corner clothesline for two. Clip. Aguila kicks Terrible in the head and dropkicks him out to set up his running slingshot tornillo. Terrible still makes in first and kicks Aguila as he comes thru the ropes. Terrible suplexes Aguila for two. Sort of Michinoku Driver, sort of slipping body slam for two. Terrible powerbomb is sort of turned into an Aguila faceslam, but Terrible is up without pause to take an Aguila clothesline for two. I dunno. Double clothesline spot looks lame, then Terrible just bulldozes Aguila with another for two. Terrible connects on a corner clothesline, misses another. Aguila kicks him, slams him, moonsault lands on knees. Aguila covers one two NO. This seems like along match, and it's not. Terrible stops a corner charge and dropkicks Aguila – for three? Huh. Aguila did take a big bump on the dropkick, but it was a dropkick.

Match 4: Rush vs Rey Bucanero in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Rush
Match Time: 2:40
Notes
: Referee is Bestia Negra.

Rush immediately baits Bucanero not a chop fight, then a contest to knock each other with a clothesline. Bucanero drops down on Rush's, misses his own, blocks Rush's kick, and they go head to head again. Bucanero shoves, Rush dropkick him and stomps. Crowd boos as Rush kicks the ropes. Stomps. Knees and punches. Whip, Rush checks Rey on a belly to belly suplex and dropkicks him in the head. More boos, more poses. Bucanero flips Rush to the apron when he charges, punches him to the floor, then avalanches him with a slingshot tope con giro. Both back in, Bucanero trying to figure up. Rush clothesline caught into the Tormenta Bucanero. One two NO. Announcers vaguely aware a match is going on. Bucanero slams Rush, and slowly climbs up. Rush catches up to him, slaps him, and superplexes him off the top rope. Senton, one two three. Rush walks off immediately to his usual reaction.

Match 5: Atlantis vs Negro Casas in a CMLL Universal eightfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Atlantis
Match Time: 2:28
Notes: Negro has laid out Atlantis on the outside before the match starts. Referee is Terror Chino.

Negro throws Atlantis into the post, comes into break the count, and throws Atlantis on the apron for more. Atlantis scoots in while Negro is arguing with the ref, so Negro just puts on a chinlock. Snap mare and forearm choke for two. Negro tries again for another two count. Atlantis rolls out to get his breath while Negro argues with the ref. Negro comes out and rams Atlantis back first into the barricade. Twice! Back in. Negro kicks Atlantis in the chest a few times. Whip, reversed, and Atlantis gets in a quebradora. A second, casadora cradle, three. Wow, didn't take a lot. Negro is very unhappy.

CMLL Cartela: Tuesday at Arena Mexico.

Match 6: Máscara Dorada vs Terrible in a CMLL Universal tournament quarterfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Terrible
Match Time: 3257-3501
Notes: Referee is Tirantes.

Dorada evades Terrible, takes a flip to the apron, and comes back in with an ugly springboard headscissors. Not sure who's fault that was. Dorada gets a lot of air on a fast tope con giro to the floor. Dorada in first, Terrible after him. Dorada, tossed up, down with a 'rana, Terrible rolls thru one two NO. Terrible clotheslines Dorada, then chops and slaps him around. Whip, Dorada with his torito one two NO. Crowd shot clip here, obviously. Dorada springboard headscissors goes a lot better. He tries for a second, Terrible blocks it, sit down powerbomb one two three.

Match 7: Rush vs Atlantis in a CMLL Universal tournament quarterfinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Rush
Match Time: 2:41
Notes: Referee is Pompin.

Crowd boos as Rush kicks around Atlantis. Whip, Rush elbow smash. Kick. Dropkick! Crowd boos. Rush slaps and punches Atlantis. Chop. Whip, reversed, Atlantis charges in, and monkey flips Rush. Rush doesn’t get too far on that. Dropkick sends Rush out. Atlantis urns, and topes Rush on the outside. Replays. Rush gets up quick enough to clothesline and gut punch Atlantis on the outside. Rush comes in first, but Atlantis blocks a turnbuckle smash and slaps Rush away. Atlantis up top, planchas him, then gives him a couple quebradoras. One two NO. Atlantis 'rana, Rush rolls thru one two three. That was out of nowhere.

Match 8: Terrible vs Rush in a CMLL Universal tournament semifinal match
Arena Mexico, 08/17/2012

Winner: Terrible
Match Time: 2:38
Notes: These two are fighting before Babe Richard (every ref is working tonight!) can get to the ring. Terrible must've sprinted in after Atlantis left.

Terrible gets the better of the fight and kicks Rush on the mat. Cover for two, the director switching away from the pin before the kickout. Terrible punches Rush in the head and bites him. Set in the ropes for a chop and an left hand punch. Crowd booing Terrible a little bit more. Terrible sneaks around Rush by his head. Whip, reversed, Evasion, Rush dropkicks Terrible into the ropes and kicks him out. No dive, Rush drops to the floor and stomps Terrible around. Chop. Terrible thrown back in. Replay of the bit last month, with Terrible smacking Rush with the glass portrait thanks a Tiger distraction. Terrible and Rush alp each other in the chest and the face, neither moving, but Rush winning with a kick. Whip, Rush charge in, Terrible kicks him, Rush superkicks Terrible. Rush poses to more boos. Terrible may be out, but Rush picks him up. Double underhook, Terrible blocks it, blocks it, and lifts Terrible into the air Raid Crash. One two three! Terrible is smart.

Terrible challenges Rush to a hair vs hair match. Rush accepts, then goes on the attack. Rush trips up Terrible, kicks him down, and double stomps. Rey Bucanero runs in for the save, but whiffs on a chair shot and throws it away. Referee actually gets send it out of the ring as Rush pounds Terrible. Terrible goes the crowd gets a chair, and smacks Rush in the back with it. Just gets up form that one, but not form the one to the head. Bucanero smacks Rush in the leg with the chair for good measure, then carries around Terrible on his shoulders. Loud Buca chant form the rudo fans.

Anniversary Promo #2 (this time with both matches but still a lot of Mistico) and they're done.
