Match 1: Bengala & Robin vs Cholo & Ramstein
Arena Mexico, 02/28/2012

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:08
Rating: eh
Notes: Ref is Bestia Negra.

1: Pairs are Bengala/Ramstein, Robin/Cholo, which are both equal and ok. Bengala quickly beats Ramstein on the second pass thru, and Robin finishes off Cholo. Lots of booing for the técnico win.

2: Bengala quickly runs thru Ramstein. Cholo chops around Robin for a bit, Robin flips, Cholo knocks him down with a shoulderblock again. Robin does the kip up bit, Cholo swipes and misses, and Robin headscissors him out. Robin dos his fake dive pose, and Ramstein dropkicks him right out. Bengala in, with planchas, but stopped with a spinebuster. Cholo off the ropes, splash for three. Cholo lifts Robin up for a Ramstein powerbomb, and that's the fall.

3: Ramstein bites Robin's hand. He doesn’t look hungry. Two man faceslam for Robin. Bengala held and hit. Double boot for him. Robin kicked questionably low. Ramstein tosses Robin into a Cholo – shoulderblock? I don't know what that was. Cholo grows and stomps Bengala for a bit. Ramstein tosses Bengala, and Bengala faceslams Cholo this time. Bengala this everyone, and Robin comes in to help kick. Superkick and dropkick for Ramstein as Bengala kicks Cholo out. Everyone migrates to their corner, then Robin and Cholo end up in. Chest slap fight goes the rudo way. Robin tables back, sets Cholo on the ropes, 'rana – no, Cholo blocks it and hands him. Ramstein clears on Bengala and adds the dropkick to the head. Bengala tries to make the save, Cholo catches him and puts hi in the Chololock. That's it.

Match 2: Astral, Fantasy, Pequeño Halcón vs Demus 3:16, Pequeño Nitro, Pierrothito
Arena Mexico, 02/28/2012

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:10
Rating: good
Notes: Referee is Bestia Negra, who has to count at the técnicos to get them to go their corner. They just really want to wrestle Demus.

1: Halcón and Demus start with mat wrestling, which includes biting the hand while holding it a wristlock if you're Demus. Halcón comes back with an armdrag. Demus gets up, walks around, does the crane pose for no particular reason. Back to the wristlock, and some wristlock armdrags. Halcón gets his own arm holds. Demus' arms look huge as he applies a half crab to Halcón. Halcón gets his own leg hold, but the even exchange ends with Demus throwing Halcón out of the ring on an armdrag. Demus does his new strut to tag in Pierrothito. Pierrothito and Fantasy are surprisingly even on the mat. Chop fight. Sound seems to be out of sync here, may just be a problem on my end. Again, the rudo ends up the better, sending Fantasy out of the ring with a headscissors. Nitro and Astral are last, with Astral slapping Nitro in the back a lot. Much like Ramstein, Astral is now wearing a shirt to hide his upper body, but for quite opposite reasons. Astral and Mini Nitro seem on different pages at the end, exchanging dropkicks oddly. That event turns out to not to be the end, Astral comes back in so Nitro can get in a backcracker and continue the dominance. Demus takes over, dropping Astral with his over the shoulders powerslam. Tag to Pierrothito, stomping and slapping around Astral. Whip, his off the shoulder inverted powerslam doesn’t go great, but he does kick Astral out. Pierrothito celebrates. Halcón in with a dropkick - nope, misses, and Pierrothito elbow drops him. Tag to Nitro, who slaps Halcón down. I don't know what the rudos are up to here, but it's working. Fireman’s drop, off the ropes, stepping over, off the ropes again, double stomp. Tag to Demus. Rudos keeping the fresh man in. Slap for Halcón gets a big reaction from the crowd. Whip, back, clothesline ducked under, fireman's side drop. Dropkick sends Halcón out. Fantasma in, he misses a dropkick Demus slaps him too, and Pierrothito comes in without a tag. Chop. Whip, Pierrothito fireman’s drop, Demus holds Nitro’s arm and walks him to the ropes – quebrada one two, no, they didn’t want to cover there after all. Demus brings Fantasy over, Pierrothito tope rope splash one two three.

Astral back in but beat into the corner. Corner whip, Pierrothito charging clothesline is not quite on aim, but Demus comes in with a better one. Astral whipped out, Nitro kicks him back to the corner, Demus wheelbarrow lift, Nitro adds the frontcracker while – Pierrothito tries to add a flying bulldog? It's not really clear, Pierrothito just realize jumps over the people. Good enough for the pin anyway.

2: Rudos still in control. Demus pulls Halcón’s arms around the top rope and bites his chest for a while. Demus is some sort of cannibal. Demus clothesline misses, and Halcón headscissors him out. Not quite a beatdown after all Nitro dropkicks Halcón out, then walks around waiting. Astral gets him with a springboard plancha. Nitro running shoulderblock, running back elbow. Running clothesline misses, and Astral dropkicks him out. Pierrothito slaps Astral around. Corner whip, Astral flips out over Pierrothito. Pierrothito rolls him into the ropes anyway, drop toe hold/dropkick to the side. Fantasy in, which upsets Pierrothito greatly. Fantasy flipping run, superkick to Pierrothito. Fantasy off the ropes, monkey flip, Fantasy nearly lands on his feet, Pierrothito back , his own casadora cradle one two NO. Pierrothito hops on Fantasy’s shoulders – and Astral knocks him off with a plancha. Halcón with a turning springboard splash, Astral pulls him off to go chase something off screen, but Fantasy covers himself. One two three. That's veteran leadership! Pierrothito must be captain, because referee doesn't bother counting out anyone else. He does way for the técnicos to come back, but they're too busy backing off the other rudos.

3: Fantasy flipping run. Not his strong suit, but he tries. Fantasy follows with a springboard plancha, which I'm not sure if Nitro is supposed to be hit or not. He's hit, but he's hit while he's laying on the ground (ducking out of the way unsuccessfully? Who knows.) Fantasy gets it back on track with a walk up the ropes spinning armdrag. Nitro out, fake dive. Pierrothito and Halcón in. Slap fight is not a good strategy for Halcón. Corner whip, reversed, Pierrothito kips up and out over Halcón, Pierrothito charges, Halcón kicks him away, Halcón flips over Pierrothito back, Pierrothito misses a clothesline and Halcón comes back with a headscissors. Halcón dive fake too. Demus and Astral are left, Demus again showing off his karate poses. Demus slaps Astral. Clothesline misses. Whip, reversed, Astral over, under, clothesline misses, Astral back with a springboard 'rana. Chop to the chest. Whip, double duck down spot, Demus spears Astral on the post and goes crazy with slaps. Rudos come in to pull Demus off – but Demus kicks Nitro away and almost punches Pierrothito. Nitro gets up and kicks Demus, but Demus don't care. Demus poses. Pierrothito tells Nitro to focus. Astral whipped to them, backdrop to the ramp, but Astral lands on his feet. Halcón starts running, stops, and then is boosted into a dropkick on the rudos. I guess he held up because Nitro was way in the wrong place - that happens a lot here. Demus gets Halcón with a running dropkick, poses, and spots Astral – coming back in with a running the ropes headscissors. Demus out, astral headstand of the apron into – a powerbomb. Demus had him ready, or he didn't get much on the 'rana. Halcón trips Pierrothito up into the ropes, Fantasy goes for the moonsault, but Pierrothito pulls himself out off the way just in time. Pierrothito back in with the slingshot senton. Nitro with an armbreaker Pierrothito submits Fantasy – win for the rudos.

Match 3: Fuego, Mr. Cacao, Pegasso vs Arkángel de la Muerte, Nitro, Skándalo
Arena Mexico, 02/28/2012

  1. Tuareg

  2. técnicos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:45
Rating: ok
Notes: técnicos are waiting on the ramp for the rudos. They'll be waiting forever, for the Tuareg come thru the crowd to attack them. Arkangel sits back and waits for his partners to do bring Cacao to him. Referee is Terror Chino.

1: Tuareg clear out everyone but Cacao. Arkangel headbutts him out, and follows him out there. Nitro works over Pegasso in the ring while the others brawl outside. Rudos come back in, and Pegasso gets beat up some more. He does sneak in an armdrag on Arkangel, but the other two grab him. Whip, Nitro trips him on the bottom rope, Skándalo adds a sit, and Arkangel drops an elbow. Other técnicos are back in their corner. Pegasso low blow dropkicked to the ramp. Fuego tries, and gets slapped. Tuareg leapfrog, dropkick, neck snap, dropkick to the face combo goes well. Fuego is stood back up to take one more kick to the face. Cacao gets Nitro with his jumping leg, but then is face to face with Arkangel. Everyone else has cleared out, and they go back and forth. Arkangel flips Cacao to the apron, Cacao slaps him away , top rope plancha, Arkangel rolls thru one two no. Arkangel shoulderblocks Cacao, Cacao dropkicks him out, Tuareg run him out. Técnicos in, going for their finishes but takedown and defeated by the Tuareg.

2: Rudos double clothesline fails, knocking Arkangel out. Cacao is soon out after him with a tope con giro. Fuego puts Skándalo in his Fuegolock. Bizarrely, Nitro submits Pegasso at the same time. Nitro stands Pegasso up and shoves him out for good measure. We're left with Nitro and Fuego, Fuego gets a 'rana, one two three. Pegasso came back in to cover, so maybe he wasn't actually beat? They reacted like he was. Técnicos bring Cacao back into celebrate.

3: Pegasso gets in one armdrag on Nitro, then just gets dropkicked by the other two. Other técnicos come in, miss dropkicks, and are chopped around in the corners for a bit. This is a naked tag team tournament preview. Técnicos are whipped at each other, but Fuego jumps over the leapfrog and the fight is on. Cacao has to wait for Fuego to stop slapping Skándalo. Rudos whipped into each other (and jumping at each other in the process.) Técnicos grab the legs – the star! Pegasso and Nitro back in, Pegasso 'rana in the middle one two NO. Rudos were breaking free of the hold at one. Pegasso headscissors Nitro right back out, and follows with a slingshot tope con giro. Arkangel shoulderblocks Cacao, but Cacao drop toe holds him, holds him down, and rips up Arkangel's mask for the camera. Ref tries to get involved, can't break it up. Skándalo tries, and just moves out of eh way of a Fuego dropkick. Whip, clothesline misses, Fuego over the back armdrag to send him out. Fuego laps to he apron, but Skándalo pulls him down from there and stomps him. Arkangel in, but into Cacao's leg lariat. Another one, this one an enziguri, casita one two NO. Cacao looks like he's going to pick up Arkangel, but goes for his mask again. Shoulderblock, off the ropes, Arkangel tries the jumping elbow drop but no one's home. Cacao kneelift, cradle one two three. OK.

Cacao, on a microphone we can barely hear, challenges Arkangel. Skándalo and Arkangel answer back, with Arkangel doing the Ultimo Guerrero promo (laying on the mat, challenging back.) Fight breaks back out, with Skándalo nailing Fuego with a good headbutt.

Bobby Bonales ad. They probably don't need to keep airing these.

Match 4: Black Warrior ©, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca vs Morphosis ©, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis
Arena Mexico, 02/28/2012

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:57
Rating: técnicos (2-1)
Notes: Ref is Tiger Hispano. Mije is with the rudos.

1: Cascading relays leading to Warrior and Morphosis. Other rudos get involved, other técnicos end them out, then chase them down with a quebradora. Warrior dope toe holds Morphosis, forces him to turn over, puts on a wristlock, then covers for the pin.

2: Sangre and Sagrado get to do less mat work and more of their offense the second time around, and Morphosis get to have some offense at all. Warrior still spears him, but overdone finish #1 kicks in – phantom leg lock meets roll up for three. Sangre goes after Mije between falls and pays for it.

3: Full scare beatdown breaks out here, with Mije getting in kicks on Sangre Azteca. Sangre Azteca really should have his own mascot, but that's never going to happen. Sangre takes the Vangelis spear. Warrior stops Sagrado on the run to start the comeback, which is awful slow one. Warrior, as he's done of late, slides out and trips the rudo off the apron rather than do his dive. Sagrado slams Okumura the wrong way, so Sangre's low blow dropkick is a just a top rope frog splash. Sagrado confusedly puts on a kneebar from underneath on Vangelis to finish him.

Match 5: Atlantis, Delta, Guerrero Maya Jr. vs Rey Bucanero, Terrible, Tiger
Arena Mexico, 02/28/2012

  1. Atlantida

  2. TRT
  3. TRT

Winner: TRT
Match Time: 11:18
Rating: ok
Notes: Guerreros have their belts and do their team entrance. Terrible does finger guns! I often get Terrible and Joakim Noah confused. Comandante is with TRT, who attack the tenicso after they get the ring. Referee is Bestia Negra.

1: Brawling beatdown. Bucanero takes Delta to the announce desks so his announcing friends can talk about him. Maya gets the spit knocked out of him. Rudo in no hurry, content to walk around and hit people. Thigh kick for Atlantis. Delta dumped over the top rope, and Atlantis kicks thru it. Thigh kick for Maya. Delta grabs the ropes on a whip, then ducks a double clothesline (oops) and boots Maya into a 'rana on Tiger. Delta scoops up Bucanero in a reinera, and that's the sneak win.

Terrible is still fine on the outside. Maya comes after him, but Comandante grabs Maya and Terrible hits him. Terrible grabs Maya, Comandante loads up for a punch – but kisses Maya instead! Maya is disgusted. Rey Bucanero finds a girl's lap to hide in.

2: TRT somehow are back in control. Guess that kiss threw everything off. Clotheslines for Atlantis. Catapult/superkick spot doesn't go quite right, Atlantis bends down under it by mistake. Bucanero straightens everything out for his rolling senton. Whip, three man powerbomb on Delta, up fore the pressing powerbombs, and Tiger slides under to land this backcracker. That'll do it. Maya flipped into a faceslam, and submitted for the fall.

3: Flying sit for Atlantis. Maya slapped around and backdropped. Atlantis turns a corner whip into a quebradora on Terrible, and the other técnicos rush in for the attack. Maya is a big fan of running topes today. Lots of revenge brawling, including Delta going after Tiger's mask. Bucanero takes a big backdrop from Maya. Double backdrop for Tiger, and kicked around by the técnicos. Maya & Delta ct as a tag team, with Atlantis doing a bit or surprising. Atlantis is lid out on hie chest. Terrible chops Everyone down, but Atlantis gets him with forearms and Terrible drunkenly stumbles around as they pound him. Terrible hangs out of the ring form the bottom rope, but Maya pulls him back in. Delta goes after Comandante but spars her. Maya whips Terrible into a quebradora and Delta adds a springboard dropkick. High tens all around. Técnicos celebrate. Terrible comes back in, Atlantis 'rana on him – no, Terrible Clash! Técnicos are cut off from breaking it up, including May taking a big powerbomb bump on his own, Bucanero standing nearby.

Bucanero pounds Delta in the head a lot. His mask is already untied, and Tiger works on the other two. Microphone is still not good, but Terrible clearly wants a chance at the titles. Bucanero talks too. Atlantis get sup and goes after Terrible. Terrible stops him and pulls his mask. Tiger fights Maya until he gets it off. It takes Bucanero the most effort, and Delta mask has barely been hanging on for a while. Bucanero gets it, and gives him a low blow stomp while he's at it.
