Match 1: Hombre Bala Jr. & Super Halcon Jr. vs Rayo Tapatío I & Rayo Tapatío II in a masks vs mask match
Arena Mexico, 01/01/2012

  1. Rayo Tapatíos

  2. Halcón & Bala
  3. Halcón & Bala

Winner: Hombre Bala Jr. & Super Halcón Jr.
Match Time: 18:27
Rating: good for what it was
Notes: Tapatios jump the técnicos on the stage. Técnicos have a dark green/blue, yellow thing going. Ref is Maya.

1: Halcón is tossed into the ring by one Rayo, then tossed out as they dropkick Bala. Halcón bought back in and kicked. JCR says the Tapatios have been EdM champs for 15 years. Not sure when the last defense was, but okay. Técnicos masks are both ripped up already. Rudos look at the crowd, mostly cheering anthem, before kicking Bala in the back. They do mange to get a few boos for slowing down. Halcón back in, kicked around. Halcón mange to runs thru a dope toe hold, or Rayo II (I think) was just a bit late on a drop down. It works out okay anyway, drop toe hold and kick to the face. Rudos take turns slapping Bala. Halcón comes back too soon, but Maya backs him off until the rudos are doing kicking around Bala. Halcón manages to backdrop Rayo I to the apron and chops down Rayo II. Boos. Announcers are shocked the fans are cheering for the rudos, like they always do. Rayo I still manages to toss Halcón into a Rayo II missile dropkick (in theory – in reality, they picked the best and most generous camera angle possible here.) Submissions around to take the fist fall.

2: Técnicos are too hurt to come in right away. Bala goes against both rudos. This does not work well. Bala's held up on the ropes for a low blow dropkick, sending him to the apron. Halcón is sat on the second rope for a hard clothesline by Rayo I, then Rayo II dropkicks him in the backside, sending Halcón hard into the corner. Miguel's going over the rare lucha pars matches prior. Bala is crotched in the ropes and dropkicked. Halcón held off the apron and dropkicked to the floor. This about 7 minutes of total Rayo dominated. Rayo I is slow to return, so Bala gets in a few shots on Rayo II before he takes care of the situation himself. Rayo I over to help slap. Bala set up in the tree of woe, and Dos adds a dropkick. Halcón back in but accomplishing little. Corner whip, Rayo I flipped to the apron, Halcón back elbows him off, and II is whipped back to Bala for a missile dropkick. Halcón top rope moonsault, both cover, one, two three.

Rayo I kicks Halcón out. Backdrop, running stomp for Bala. Same step over armbar as the first fall, and he's done.

Rayo I charges Halcón, Halcón takedown for two. Halcón fires up, waits, Rayo I charges again, and Halcón puts him down again. Rayo I rolls out. Maya is buy holding Halcón back, so he doesn't see Rayo II come in, though Halcón might. Halcón charges Rayo II, Rayo II takes him down, step over armbar. Halcón gives!

Not a huge reaction. Rayos celebrate big. Bala argues. May examines the Rayos, notices their wristbands are different, and disqualifies the Rayos. It's not especially clear how Maya knew which wristband was in, but OK. Crowd is louder booing the overturn. Rayos threaten to walk out.

3: Tapatios are back, and a clip seems likely. Rayo I and Bala have a chest slap fight. Bala sunset flip for two. Bala small package one two NO. Rayo I charges Bala, Bala flips him to the apron, Bala slaps him down. Rayo lays on the ramp, so Bala just backs up, runs, and leaps over the top rope for a big splash. Fun! Bala rolls back in, wand walks into Rayo II's missile dropkick. One two NO. Rayo small package one two NO. Rayo II puts on a standing step over neck crack, Halcón breaks that up. Halcón tries to pick up Rayo II, Rayo II small package, one two NO. Halcón has his dad's hair, that's for sure. Rayo II takedown, front bridge, one two NO. Both slow up, Rayo II slaps Halcón down, one two NO. Halcón yells at the ref, then gets up and points at the crowd. He's tried. Corner whip, Rayo II charge in, Halcón gets an elbow up, middle rope blockbuster one Rayo I breaks it up. Small package one two NO. Tirabuzón by Rayo I, Bala breaks that up. Rayo I slaps Bala, who backs off, but Halcón get in a kick and a fireman's drop. Halcón to the second rope, moonsault crushes Rayo's head. Halcón says he's going for another. Distracted by the crowd, but now going all the way up – and eating feet on the moonsault. Rayo I covers, one two Bala breaks it up. Bala dropkick Rayo I out, runs, and throws his body into a tope. Rayo II up – plancha onto Bala. Halcón tope con giro just gets there. Bala back in, with Rayo I, plancha, Rayo rolls thru, Halcón breaks it up. Halcón poses, still getting boos. Both rudos on Rayo I with stomps. Whip, boost into a Bala tope is a great idea, but the timing isn't there. Bala slipped a bit. Rayo II breaks up the pin, but the técnicos are on him with chops. Casadora frontcracker, Bala kicking Rayo II backwards into a wheel barrow suplex, nice idea, one two Rayo I breaks it up. Bala's smacked out of the ring. Rayo's wave for support. Or air. Whip, Halcón boosted into a powerbombed, held upside down for a dropkick, and Rayo II yells. Rayo I powerbombs Halcón again, then goes for a leg lock, but Halcón rolls him up. Rayo II takes a circuitous route to breaking it up, so Halcón gets the one two three.

Rayo II quickly drops Halcón with an atomic drop bomb and submits him.

It's Bala and Rayo II for it all. Crowd starts Rayo chant. Bala off the ropes, Rayo II dropkicks him in the knee, then slowly crawls on top. One two NO. Bala leans up, Rayo clotheslines him down one two NO. Rayo has a hand on Bala's head to hold it down, not that it worked. Rayo II complains about the count. Bala clothesline misses, Rayo II small package one two NO. Bala charges, misses, Rayo II inside cradle, one two NO. Rayo II sits up to complain, Bala quickly crucifixes him one two THREE. Loud reaction this time,

Técnicos celebrate big, Halcón even kicking the bottom rope in happiness. It takes about 10 seconds for the cheers to catch up. After replays, the Rayo's names are announced. Rayo I's son helps take off his mask. It's weird that two guys from Neza ended up with a Tapatío gimmick. Rayo II gives his mask to Bala, Rayo I to Halcón. Everyone poses in the corners, and the técnicos get booed.

Match 2: Rush vs Terrible for the CMLL World Heavyweight Championship
Arena Mexico, 01/01/2012

  1. Rush cross armbreaker (3:22)

  2. Terrible cavernaria (1:48)
  3. Terrible air raid crash (11:37)

Match Time: 16:47

Notes: Ref is Maya. Terrible is wearing the Doble T trunks. Averno is Terrible's second, and Metro – not Dragon Lee – is Rush's. Dragon Lee and Bucanero are both in GDL, no idea where Tiger is (or if it'd matter.)

1: Mat wrestling between Rush and Terrible is only useful for noticing the boos for Rush. His armbar and chinlock does not get him afar. Neither does Terrible's wristlock. Cradles back and forth for two. JCR says Ultimo Guerrero defended this title 17 times, and Universo defended it 19 times. Rush's jumping snap mare sets up a boot to send Terrible to the ropes. Rush charges again, Terrible flips him to the apron and slaps him hard. Crowd wants one more. Terrible pauses, tries to post Rush, but is slapped away. Rush up top, plancha, Terrible into an armdrag, Rush holds onto the arm and rolls around to a kneeling armbar. Rush rolls again – cross armbreaker, and Terrible gives. Rush takes his time letting go.

2: Terrible is still working on his arm. He charges, Rush barely trips him up, Rush misses the senton, and Terrible kicks him in the back. Averno asks the crowd if they want to. Terrible's right shoulder is still bugging him. Whip, clothesline misses, Rush back with a headscissors. Terrible out, Rush crushes him with a tope, and Terrible goes flying into the second row. Maya counts everyone out as Averno helps retrieve Terrible from the seats. Rush in, and yelling at Terrible to get back in. Rush runs for more, but Terrible is in and clipping him. Cavernaria! Rush gives up quickly. Terrible makes sure to keep it on for a few extra seconds. Terrible's arm still hurts when he gets it raised.

3: Terrible corner clotheslines Rush. Corner whip the other way, Rush charges, no one home, and Rush superkicks Terrible. Stomps, and kicks to the back. Rush punches and slaps Terrible in the chest. Whip, clothesline misses, Terrible dropkicks him out. Terrible backs up, charges, tope con giro connects. Both back in. Weak chant for Terrible, which annoys Rush greatly. Kick to the ribs. Terrible stands up Rush and slaps him. Whip, reversed, Rush overhead belly to belly suplex. Senton, one two NO. Rush argues the count. Rush picks up Terrible, northern lights suplex, one two NO. Rush has to dig deep into his list of moves here. Terrible tried to whip Rush, Rush reverses, Rush catches Terrible, then drops him on his stomach. Crossface, the arm isn't exactly locked. Terrible more trapped then hurting, and slowly slides Rush to the ropes. Averno helped a tiny bit there, push then rope in, but Maya missed it. Maya used up all his noticing power in the first match. Rush kicks Terrible around. Choke on the ropes. Whip, powerslam, Rush off the ropes, over, double stomp – misses, Terrible inside cradle one two NO. Crowd though that might be it. Terrible kicks Rush as he gets up. Clothesline hammers Rush to the ropes. Whip, reversed, Terrible grabs the ropes, then charges away – clothesline caught into a back suplex by Rush. Rush off the ropes, senton – comes up empty. Terrible needs a plan, but he starts to go off the ropes and then just stops. Not a plan! Terrible rests in the corner, waiting for Rush to get up. Dropkick flattens the tecnico. Terrible covers now, one two NO. Terrible kicks Rush, suplex – no, Rush small package one two NO. Both men tired. Crowd sounds that way. Terrible scoops and slams Rush. Terrible goes up – Rush cuts him off with a slap. Superplex! Rush adds the double stomp, and pins with one knee one two NO. Rush can't quite believe it. Crowd is really dead, but rallies a bit with a Terrible chant. Rush fireman's drops Terrible, stomps him a bit, and says he's heading up.
