Match 1: Diamante, Fuego, Sangre Azteca © vs Misterioso Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Yoshihashi
Arena Mexico, 12/06/2011
rudos
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:45
Rating: okay
Notes: The arena is totally dark, which makes it tougher to point out how empty it looks. Still sounds pretty empty. You can barely see the people in the front row on some shots, but it gets dark real quick. The guys on the apron, particularly in the rudo corner, are in shadow. Referee is Terror Chino
1: Pairs are Sangre Azteca/Okumura, Diamante/Yoshihashi, Fuego/Misterioso. Sangre Azteca appears to be trying this week. Diamante armdrags Yoshihashi, and he slides right into Yoshihashi. Never stop being Yoshihashi, Yoshihashi. Misterioso has all the tassels in the world. He slaps down Fuego on one chest slap, but Fuego is quickly back bending under a clothesline. Fuego escapes hiptoss misses a clothesline, and runs right into the Gori Special. He rolls out, but the rudos storm the ring from there. Double kick spot sets up Yoshihashi's flipping neckbreaker. They're plugging the Twitter account on this show to – must've been a mandate. At least there's an onscreen graphic, no announcer mention. Yoshihashi is flipped to the apron on a corner charge, but Sangre Azteca still runs into a quebradora. Misterioso Michinoku Driver-ers Sangre, and Yoshihashi adds the senton con giro. Sangre' captain, so that's it.
2: Mostly a continuation of the rudo beatdown before, though the emphasis is more on loud chops than moves. Fuego is awkwardly double front suplexed/tossed to the ramp to set him up for later. Diamante ducks a weak double clothesline and sunset flips Misterio. Misterioso rolls back to his feet in time (and then some) to take a Fuego running springboard dropkick. Diamante and Fuego lift Yoshihashi up and hold him in position for Patadas Aztecas, Sangre's low blow dropkick. Fuego finishes Yoshihashi with one of his steadily increasing array of weird submissions. Sangre returns the favor, dropping Okumura in position for Diamante's finish. Sangre chases after Misterioso in the crowd, which doesn't quite work when there's no lights. They both just disappear. The doctor comes in to check on Diamante, who's holding his right elbow in pain. Both arms slapped the mat on impact, and Diamante was hurt even while covering. Announcers are sympathetic.
3: Diamante continues on, though the injury is clearly affected him. Fuego gets a showcase first, then Diamante seems okay on his. Rudos threaten to walk out instead of facing Sangre; he's not that bad! Sangre tries to be fiery face, gets caught with a clothesline and stomped by everyone. Japanese are tricked into kicking each other and Sangre gets a flash 'rana on Misterioso, but Yoshihashi break it up. Everyone in for sunset flip spots. Yoshihashi manages to kick Sangre Azteca out, and the 3 on 2 is all the rudos need. Instant German suplex by Okumaru on Fuego, with Misterioso and Yoshihashi pulling out a two man back suplex on Diamante to finish him. That's different. Sangre Azteca comes back just a moment to late to break up the pins, only to realize that Terror Chino only counted on pin and is now counting the other. Sangre kind of slowly pokes at the pin too late. Alas.
Arkangel's students show us a “cazadora con rana”. Casadora spelled with an 's', I thought. That's the casadora cradle I always call, anyway.
Match 2: La Comandante & Zeuxis © vs Lluvia & Luna Mágica for the REINA tag team championship
Arena Mexico, 12/06/2011
técnicas
Winner: técnicas (2-1)
Match Time: 13:09
Rating: fine!
Notes: Joined right after the belt photo. Graphics still refuse to spell Zeuxis with a Z. Referee is Bestia Negra. Announcers are way louder than the fans – even considering the size of crowd, they've messed up the sound levels here.
1: Lluvia and Zeuxis start on The Mat. This is better than it sounds, both being more aggressive about trying to finish and not just doing the usual moves for the moves sake. After Lluvia escapes a cross armbreaker by getting a foot on the ropes, they both run with a clothesline and don’t go down. They both try dropkick at the same time, that doesn’t look so good. Simple rebound armdrag sends Zeuxis out. Lluvia poses, is booed. Comandante and Luna try for something more difficult too, to mixed levels of success. Big tornado DDT by Luna end those two. First two back in, Lluvia getting an armdrag only for Zeuxis to kick her right in the face. Zeuxis grabs Lluvia, tries to get her up a couple times, and finally gets a Michinoku Driver like for two. Lluvia slips thru the ropes on a corner charge and push of headscissors Zeuxis to the center to the ring. Casadora bulldog sends Zeuxis out. Comandante chases Lluvia, but Luna drops her with a missile dropkick. Técnicas put on holds for the win.
2: Luna cartwheel, Luna gets kicked. You'd she'd learn. This also leads right to the beatdown. Title belts are very shiny. Double slow hiptoss for Lluvia, and a two woman casadora legdrop. Lluvia just gets rammed into, and caught in the ropes for a dropkick to the backside. Zeuxis tries for a sort of apron swing kick to the face, which doesn’t seem to work well. Lluvia draped off the top rope for a middle rope splash by Comandante. That would seem to be more than enough, but rudas keep going. Comandante adds a giant swing, and Zeuxis headed up – tornillo moonsault! Announcers go crazy. Perfect time to break that out, and it lands very well. Comandante holds up Lluvia for Zeuxis' front cracker, and Comandante adds her own middle rope splash for the pin.
3: Rudas have been attacking the técnicas between falls. Comandante spears Lluvia good. Rudas send both técnicas out with kicks. Lluvia comes in and goes after Comandante, but gets thrown around by her hair. Luna thrown around by her hair, but fights back and throws Zeuxis around Comandante misses a clothesline on both tecnicas, and they send her in the corner via by a dropkick. Técnicos throw Comandante around by her hair too. Luna sets up Lluvia for a push of headscissors on Zeuxis. Comandante tries to sneak in a splash but misses. Luna gets the armdrag/headscissors spot on both rudas, and tecnicas dropkick rudas out. This seems like a poor idea. Luna teases for a dive, stops when the rudas bail. Lluvia helped to the top rope instead – plancha on both. She helps the rudas up, luna carefully goes to the top, and lands her plancha too. Lluvia helps Luna way from the rudas, and they both rest on the apron. Slow twenty count, giving time for a replay. Luna in, and Zeuxis in with a missile dropkick. Zeuxis drags Luna over, and Comandante goes all the way up. Comandante says this is it – it probably is – and misses the top rope splash. Luna misses a running senton on Comandante but we pretend she didn't, and Lluvia submits Zeuxis to an inverted rana. That's it.
New champs get their belts. Zeuxis shakes their hands. Comandante refuses.
Match 3: Dragón Rojo Jr., Rey Escorpion, Terrible © vs Ángel de Oro, Jushin Lyger © , Valiente
Arena Mexico, 12/06/2011
rudos
Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:37
Rating: OK
Notes: Referee is Terror Chino.
1: Pairs are Valiente/Escorpion,
Bucanero calls him “Escorpion Dorado”. So I'm not the last to still have that. Valiente is still in Mr. Valiente form. It looks like he and Escorpion are going to break off quick, after an armdrag, but Valiente, but stays in at the last second and gets jumped from behind for it. Dragon Rojo and Escorpion give Valiente an odd double boot – Dragon Rojo is doing a side kick while Escorpion adds a normal big boot. Hard corner clothesline for Angel de Oro. Dragon Rojo goes after Lyger's mask. Boost dropkick spot on Angel de Oro doesn’t go great, but Escorpion still gets a half crab out of it. I'm assuming Dragon Rojo's submission is his new trademark one.
2: Escorpion/Dragon sunset flip/dropkick spot on Valiente is well timed. Karla starts talking about the lineup change in TRT, and then is not sure if she's allowed to talk about it. You can do that on this show, it's totally okay. Angel de Oro is kicked questionably low, but flips Terrible on a corner charge, Valiente rips him to the floor, Oro headscissors Dragon Rojo, Lyger gets in his apron tope con giro on Terrible and the other técnicos finish it up.
3: Escorpion checks out the card girl. Valiente stands up to Terrible, and Terrible strikes him down. Terrible stands up Valiente, and licks his mask! That's gross. Terrible chops Valiente, then does a dance. Valiente finally stops Terrible's madness with a backdrop escape armdrag and a hard slap to the chest. One more, as requested by Lyger. Valiente takes advantage or rudo by bumping for a push off headscissors, and then a dive. Dragon rushes in, drop toe hold, double stomp to the back! Liger rushes in and shoves him. Clothesline misses, headscissors sends Dragon Rojo out. Escorpion kicks down Lyger, and Angel de Oro Springboard into to headscissors him. Flipping run, Escorpion’s clothesline misses, and Angel de Oro headscissors him out. Inside out moonsault to take out Escorpion. Valiente slaps Dragon one good. Corner whip, Dragon Rojo evades, and Valiente spar the spot. Dragon Rojo tope con giro connects. Stomp, rope shaking Lyger in with Terrible. Terrible misses a dropkick, Lyger chop, whip, reversed, Lyger duck a clothesline, spinning behind into a crucifix cradle, one two three.
Técnicos celebrate big, and then Lyger celebrates with the fans.
feature: Tigre Hispano's family hangs mask ornaments on the tree. They have a Sin Cara mask, but we won't tell anyone. The ornaments are very well done.
Match 4: La Máscara vs Mephisto for the NWA World Middleweight Championship
Arena Mexico, 12/06/2011
Mephisto crab (3:09)
Winner: La Mascara
Match Time: 19:32
Rating: okay
Notes: Mascara wears the belt to the ring. Brazo de Oro is his second, Kahoz is his son's second. Rambo is commissioner. Referee is Tigre Hispano.
1: Lockup, Mascara walks Mephisto into the ropes, break. Lockup, Mephisto holds Mascara down. Mephisto tries to get in a cross armbreaker, but Mascara blocks and rolls him over for a cradle for two. They go back and forth once again, crawl back towards the center of the ring, and reach a stale mate. Both up and circling. Mascara holds down Mephisto in a headscissors. Ephesto gets free, Máscara rolls him over for a quick bridging pin. Loud Mascara chants followed by loud booing. Máscara tripped up and thrown down. Monkey flip spot leaves them both on the mat in wristlock. Both reach for bodyscissors, Mephisto gets it, and turns it over into a crab. Mascara gives!
2: Mascara starts the fall on the mat and hurting. Whip, drop toe hold, off the ropes, kick to the chest. Mephisto in no hurry. Whip is revered, Mascara with a quebradora con giro (no knee, all boos). Armdrag, Mephisto sent to the ropes, evasion, Máscara starts running, spinning armdrag sends Mephisto spinning out. TOPE, the impact is harder to see because of the lighting, and Mephisto kind of falls into the darkness. Mephisto thrown back in. Máscara with a springboard sunset flip, Mephisto rolls thru one two NO. Mephisto shot in the topes, back with a 'rana, Máscara rolls thru one two three.
3: Kanoz and Brazo de Oro are arguing, but Rambo gets them to back off. Evasions pots in the ring lead to a Mascara headscissors. Mascara flipped to the apron, but coming back with a shoulder and a flying headscissors. Mephisto out, Máscara after with a slingshot tope con giro, landing right on Mephisto's head. Replays. Mascara sunset flip for two. Mascara 'rana for two. Mascara casadora into a campana – no, Mephisto escapes just as the fans are starting to boo. Mephisto flips Mascara to the apron and tries a springboard dropkick to send him out, but slips on the springboard and has to improvise a kick. Fans let him know. Asai moonsault lands well. Replays. Mephisto in first, and caught on a swing kick. Top rope plancha. Drop toe hold, casita, one two no. Mephisto misses a charge, Mascara waistlock cradle one two NO. Both slow up. Crowd is making a lot of noise, but this match isn't that compelling after all the Averno ones. Mascara tries for a torito, but gets caught on the way up and dropped for a powerbomb. Mephisto scoop, slam, and he's headed up to miss a move. No, he just stalls climbing the ropes, and Mascara swing kicks him out. Corner plancha to the floor. Replays. Kahoz towels off his son. Mascara in first, Mephisto behind him for the cavernaria. He is not Dragon Rojo, this does not work, though mascara swings around his arms wildly as if he's in great danger. Slow up. Mephisto Gori stretch, Máscara rolls out too far, so Mephisto has to stumble backwards into the sunset flip one two no. Another pinfall, another two count. Mascara briefly tries a grounded suástica, then slams Mephisto and slowly heads up. Top rope splash meets boots, one two no. Announcers are into the near falls, but they’re not. Devil’s Wings, Devil Wings again, one two foot on the ropes. Mephisto lays on his back sadly, instead of following up. Scoop, slam. Mephisto lets everyone know he's going up. Mephisto stalls on the apron, fixing his wrist tape. Mephisto slowly climbs to the top. Senton con giro misses. Mascara climbs on top, one two NO. Máscara drag Mephisto in position but Mephisto grabs him by the hell. Máscara stomps him down, and the starts climbing but Mephisto cuts him off with a slap. Slap to the face. Valagueza! Right in the center of the ring, one two NO. Mascara fans are loud now Mephisto turns Máscara going over. Despite the total failure of all his tries going up, Mephisto is going up. Just as soon as he finishes misses with his wrist tape. Mephisto up top – met with a swing kick. Máscara up with him, Mephisto battles him and goes for – top rope Devil's Wings! One two NO! Kahoz is upset with the count, Tiger Hispano turns there, and misses Máscara turning over the pin, one two NO. Mephisto turns his back on Mascara, Máscara jumps on his shoulders, casadora, campana, we're done here.
