Lucha Libre USA: Masked Warriors #65 (10/08/2011)
Recapped: 10/09/11

Last Week: Lizmark won a title belt.

Hey, this crowd shots look exactly like last week.

Nigel introduces Treachery for an interview. Lizmark says he told the whole world he's the greatest luchador of all time, and the belt is the proof. Lizmark explains the artist at ringside (shown) to create a portrait of him. Because this is the only hour he could get done. The painting is his legacy, “and it will live forever”. So, about 55 to the hour. When Nigel asks what's next for Treachery, Sydistiko steals the microphone and does a very Paul London sounding interview. Tag team titles are next for Treachery, so how about an open challenge. Treachery is scared away from the entrance by Magno and Havana Brother Uno. Kevin Kelly is about marking for Rocky Romero debuting, or maybe just Rocky Romero's pimp fur coat.

They take it to the ring. Lizmark sits down near the artist, who continues to work on the portrait. Rocky already had a microphone, but now starts talking. “Mi gente, where you at? Yo, me and my boy Magno were chilling in the back, and we heard your open challenge. You see, I'm new here in Lucha Libre USA, my name is Rocky Romero, but you can just call me Azcuar! So I've been waiting for the perfect time to make my debut here, and what better time, what better place than now.” Remember when Rocky was Azteko? Never mind. Sydistiko: “This guy looks to be a comedian – yea, the guy dressed like a stuffed animal.” Point, Treachery. Rudos rush the ring, and the fight is on.

Match 1: Rellik & Sydistiko vs Magno & Rocky Romero
Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 12/12/2010

Winner: Magno & Rocky Romero
Match Time: 8:03
Rating: eh
Notes: Ref is that one guy.

Aimless brawling to set up the first big spot – Rellik kicks Mano to his knees, but Romero hops off his partner into a giant clothesline on Rellik. Quebradora on Sydistiko , and Romero adds a running dropkick. Wait, are Todd and Rocky brothers? Shots of the artist are going to be ways to cover up clips, I guess. It's nice switch up from the crowd shots. Rocky kicks Sydistiko around, and kicks us to break.

Rocky Romero does his Azcuar dance, walking right back into Rellik. Dramtic reach back, and Rocky is all scared of Rellik. Rellik’s clotheslines keep missing, and Rocky gets Rellik moving with headscissors. Rocky casadora turned into a Rellik wheelbarrow suplex. Rellik slam, and tag to Sydistiko for a slingshot legdrop. Tag back to Rellik, slingshot legdrop from Rellik, Slingshot senton con giro from Sydistiko. Fake crowd noise is quiet, which Kelly attributes to the rudos being in control. Rocky chant with no one on camera visible moving their masks. Rocky fights back against Sydistiko, but the rudo trips him off before he can get the ropes. Romero works in a modified casadora cradle, one two no. Sydistiko right on him with a leg lariat. One two NO. Tag to Rellik. Side backbreaker, slingshot legdrop. One two Magno breaks it up, but the rudos are on him. Sydistiko tries to throw Magno out, but Magno holds onto the top roe and hangs on the apron. Sydistiko charges into a swing kick, while Rocky escapes a suplex, crawls thru Rellik’s legs, and tags Magno. Flying armdrag in. Sydistiko misses a heel kick, springboard armdrag. Magno forearm is just sort of ignored by Rellik – we're good for one of those per Rellik match – Rellik knee lift, kneelift, kneelift, single leg, legdrop. Match slowed way down again. Rellik back to work with kicks, but runs right into a clothesline. Sydistiko lifted up into a fireman's carry, huge Michinoku Driver (“Magno Driver”), but Rellik breaks it up. Rocky up top, but his plancha is caught by Rellik. Rellik holds him for a bit, spins him around, Romero escapes, ducks a clothesline, and topes Sydistiko on the floor. Mano sneaks a crucifix roll up Rellik, one two NO. Shot of Lizmark again, and back to the ring, where Rellik already has the spinning slam set up. Ref taking out on the spin, Magno freed and punching, Rellik superkicks (we're told, we don't see) Magno. Rellik wandering around. Wandering out. He's looking under the ring for something. Chairs, grabbed and tossed in. Rellik setting up shirts. Mystery Man in Black is back, and up top – missile dropkick connects with the chair and Rellik, which is probably good, but the Mystery Man is grabbing his left knee and rolling out of the ring, which is probably not good. As the announcers point out, that doesn't make any sense with what happened last week. Rellik is back up quick anyway, but Rocky gets him with the “Cuban Cutter”, which is a front facelock into a jumping cutter. Magno top rope tornillo, one two three.

So, are these guys in the tag title match now? This is not as much an issue for our announcers as the randomness of the man in black – they points out his switch in people he's helped the last couple weeks, as well as his apparent knee injury

Backstage, Leticia talks to RJ Brewer and Petey Williams. She notes we just saw a mystery man in black hurt his knee, and here's RJ with a knee brace. I'm not sure why Leticia thinks RJ could get back there so fast, but RJ is offended she would think he would wear a mask or help someone who wears a mask. RJ says he hurt his knee in last week's match. Which brings us to that bit where Petey wore Super Nova's mask last week. “With all these wrongs in the company, I decided to make The Right.” Petey Williams: “If you're not Right, then you're 110% wrong.”

Previously: the wedding of Pequeño Halloween & Rebecca Reyes. Hey, Medianoche. “It's been several months since Pequeño Halloween & Rebecca Reyes tied the note under questionable circumstances.” Questionable is a nice way of putting it. Here's Rebecca reacting to the makeup on her face – wait, did they have separate beds?

Backstage, Nigel and Rebecca talk in the lockerroom. Nigel has found footage on the Masked Warrior facebook page - Pequeño Halloween hitting on Rebecca, Rebecca turning to shoo him away, and Tigresa Caliente slipping in to drop some powder in Rebecca's drink. The people who were there probably should've warned her, but I guess Rebecca is a little more angry with Tigresa.

Match 2: Mascarita Dorada & Octagoncito vs Pequeño Halloween & Tigresa Caliente
Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 12/12/2010

Winner: Mascarita Dorada & Octagoncito
Match Time: 5:47
Rating: happened!
Notes: Pequeño Halloween has quite the outfit. Tigresa Caliente is weightless. She has an odd shape these days. Dorada shares one of his ladies with Octagoncito; that's good teamwork. I wonder what they're cutting out here with added Kevin Kelly voice overs?

Pequeño Halloween starts, but tags in Tigresa. Boooo. Tigresa crawls on her knees and kisses Octagoncito's boots. Octagoncito says a prayer and turns for a tag, but Tigresa shoves Octagoncito in the corner. Octagon tries to get around her, and throws Octagoncito into the corner again. Avoidance and comedy. Tigresa gets in kick, Octagoncito headscissors is a poor idea. Halloween tries to help with a dropkick, gets his partner. Dorada in with a nice springboard headscissors. Another one, but Halloween reverse to a faceslam. Stomps. Off the ropes, clothesline ducks under and Dorada back with chops. Run to the ropes, nice springboard back elbow. Headscissors – no, triple rotation headscissors. Dorada goes for a dive, but Tigresa stop him wit a kneeling clothesline. Scoop, rocking Dorada, and holding her on his shoulder for burping. Dorada does not appreciate the disrespect and goes for a sunset flip, but Tigresa slips thru for a kick. Corner whip, Tigresa charges in, Dorada moves, scoops Tigresa on his shoulders, and drops her for a slam. Tigresa rolls out, Hallowen in with a dropkick. Octagoncito charges in, and takes a spinning fireman’s slam. (“Tijuana Drop” - so many names.) Kevin Kelly explains the non tag, as Halloween sets up – split legged tornillo senton. Whip, Octagoncito back with a spinning armdrag. Halloween clothesline misses, Octagoncito slides Halloween out by the chest. Tigresa back in, stomping, and giving Octagoncito sort of upside down curbstomps. Mounted punches. Hey, Lizmark still escapes. Tigresa off the ropes, killing poor Octagoncito with a badly placed kneedrop. Rebecca is on the apron, yelling at Tigresa. Now she's in, pointing to her ring and yelling at Tigresa more. Tigresa pays no mind, until Rebecca lays a hand on her. Tigresa grabs Rebecca by the hair, and rips off Rebecca's shirt, and holds her there so TV can get a good shot. Pequeño Halloween covers up his wife with his own shirt, and yells at Tigresa Before anything can come of that, Dorada headscissors, Halloween out and follows with a springboard plancha. Rebecca shoves Tigresa into an Octagoncito inside cradle, one two three.

Tigresa yells at Halloween, but Halloween's busy helping his wife to the back.

Nigel checks on Lizmark and his artist. We're told Lizmark has been giving the artist a hard time. Lizmark tells the people to shut up – he's the champion, the ruler of Lucha Libre USA, and they need to bow down. One kid does bow down (and gets herself on TV.) Here's the painting – it's his head the top of his shoulders, in a red mask. Marco Corleone interrupts, but asks Lizmark to calm down. He's not here to fight, he's hear to bow down to the new champion. Marco kneels to a knee – so he can grab a paint can. “This panting could use a little more color.” Marco goes to throw it, Lizmark covers it up, so Marco dumps the paint on Lizmark’s head and the painting. Lizmark is not happy.

Last Week: Super Nova turned on Charlie Malice, then revealed he was not so much Super Nova. Too bad we haven't heard what Super Nova thinks about all of this.

Match 3: Petey Williams vs Súper Nova
Hard Rock Casino, Albuquerque, New Mexico, 12/12/2010

Winner: Petey Williams
Match Time: 6:59
Rating: eh
Notes: RJ Brewer is with Petey Williams. We are told Petey Williams has DEFECTED FROM CANADA. Awesome. Announcers explain why Super Nova thought this was so offensive; it would've worked better coming from Super Nova.

Punches and chops off the bat, Super Nova casadora bulldog bounces Petey Williams around, and spinning headscissors sends him out to talk with RJ. Super Nova a leans thru the ropes, and boinks their heads together. Corner whip, Super Nova kip up escape, Petey Williams sneaks in a dropkick to the knee. Kneedrop to the knee. Posing. Turnbuckle smash. Attacking the leg with kicks. Announcers recapping the show. Half crab on the bad knee. Knee driven into the mat. Nova battling back with back elbows, Petey stops him with a forearm to the back. Whip, Petey leapfrog, charge, but Nova gets the ropes. Petey charges, Nova goes low bridge, Petey charge out to RJ's side, and Super Nova follows with an Asai moonsaults this time. Break.

Nova tries to fight back, but Petey forearms him around. Charging clothesline, Super Nova ducks under, Petey whips him, Nova clothesline, dropkick, wheel kick, Nova grabbing his head on the mat and down. His head must've bounced on the mat. Both up, Nova waved by, flipping run, back with a headscissors. RJ checks on his partner, Nova charges – tope con giro gets more of RJ than Petey, but both are down. Announcers explain Petey's knee injury is actually from Charlie Malice's Malicious Intent – I forgot all about that. Both back in, Reversals lead to Nova chopping Petey in the corner. Petey set up top. Crowd shot, and they're both standing on the top rope. Super 'rana, Super Nova slowly crawls on top, looks back at RJ to totally give away what's about to happen, one two RJ pulls Nova off. Nova knocks RJ down on the outside, but Petey dropkicks him from inside the ring. Nova thrown back in, clothesline misses, Petey kick, spinning headscissors into a Russian legsweep into a crucifix, one two no. Odd to see that out of the non-luchadors. Kneeling flatliner, one two NO. Petey frustrated, but calling for the Destroyer. Set up – but Nova backdrops free. Nova off the ropes, Spinning into a font facelock, Petey escapes with a waistlock, Nova elbows free, Petey shoves him into the ropes – and RJ gets in a shot while Petey distracts the ref. Maybe a low blow. Destroyer, one two three.

The Right celebrate by stomping down Super Nova, and taking his mask. Petey says he's going to do it again – Magno runs in for the save, bringing in a towel to cover Super nova. RJ keeps his mask. Magno get the mask – and challenges RJ to a mask vs hair match next week! And RJ accepts, so he'll have another mask next week.
