Announcers welcome us to the show, focusing on Forjando un Idolo.

Angel de Oro promo to hype the opener. Diamante talks about his Forjando un Idolo match.

Tuesday is Mother's Day.

Match 1: Ángel de Oro, Delta, Sangre Azteca © vs Ephesto ©, Misterioso Jr., Pólvora
Arena Mexico, 03/11/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:57
Rating: fine
Notes: Entrances. Misterioso brings an extra mask. Just in case, I guess. He needs something to talk to on the long walk to the ring. Pompin is referee.

1: Pairs are Angel de Oro/Ephesto, Delta/Misterioso and Sangre Azteca/Pólvora, though they blend into each other via broken pins and such. Oro & Ephesto work very well together. Pólvora leapfrogs Sangre Azteca into a Misterioso kick. Misterioso lifts Sangre up and drops him with the Gori Special, then holds on as Ephesto adds the double armbar for the surfboard and Pólvora repeatedly kicks Sangre's chest. Sangre gives.

Ephesto promo.

2: Rudos still in charge. I think this commentary was taped back when the match happened, because there's no mention of the Forjando un Idolo despite three first place guys. Ephesto lands the Veg-o-Matic legdrop on Angel de Oro, but Delta sidesteps a charge to start the comeback. Backdrop into a sunset flip spot does not go well. Crowd not really into this, but the técnicos do a good job of setting up Sangre Azteca's low blow dropkick on Pólvora. Pólvora rolls instead of being pinned, which sets up opposite tope con giros by Angel and Delta. Ephesto sets up Sangre on the top rope and tries to join him, but Sangre shoves him off. Ephesto falls and rolls backwards, leaving him far away from Sangre's corner. Sangre seems unsure if he's going to make it, but tries anyway, and the low blow dropkick does connect. Sangre gets up, runs around to celebrate, and then covers. Sangre hopes and spins in place a lot.

Delta promo.

3: Showcases go Delta, Angel de Oro, Sangre Azteca. Angel de Oro are good again. Delta 7 Angel de Oro hang out on the ramp for no reason during Sangre's offense, except that just leaves them in the perfect spot to grab Pólvora, stamp him on the ramp a few times, and holds him for another Sangre Azteca low blow dropkick. Thinker pose. Ephesto in, Sangre slides out on him, of course he's toped. Delta with a bad tilt-a-whirl escape into an armbar, Angel de Oro looks a lot better getting his mecedora.

Tania talks to Rodolfo Ruiz. Rodolfo talks about his luchador career. Rodolfo wants the kids to stop waving to the crowd and focusing on the ring instead. Maybe tell your son that? Just saying.

Forjando Un Idolo mentors promo.

Match 2: Puma King vs Hijo del Signo
Arena Mexico, 04/29/2011

Winner: Hijo del Signo
Match Time: 10:35
Rating: good
Notes: Puma is still partying at the Holiday Inn. Aren't we all? (We are not.) No commentary, loud music instead. (This got quieted by me really quick.) Ref is Rodolfo Ruiz. Negro is wearing a Kelme soccer shirt at ringside.

Early mat exchanges don't get us too far, but do lead to each guy wanting to show each other up just a little bit. It boils voe rot a chops, and Puma taking Signo down and slapping him many times. Rolling over to exchange strikes not one of which are rally that good) and the outside for a chop fight. Signo clubs Puma on the head and dares him to make a move. Puma decides to back up and signal to the fans, and both come back in. Signo kicks Puma in the ropes, Puma deflects the net, off the ropes, flip over the backdrop (onto his knee), roll under a clothesline, and pulling Signo down by mask. Puma off the ropes, Signo rolled to his feet, whip, reversed, Puma trips up Signo and pulls him on his stomach. What's his plan here? Puma in, Signo slow up to his feet, and back down with a tornillo. Puma kicked Signo in the head on the way down there. Replay, usually solid Puma work. Hit Signo higher than he was expecting, I'd bet. Both slow up. Puma in and rolling first, but his celebrating leaves him open to be hammered from behind by Signo. Forearms and clotheslines and chopped and Puma sent to the corner. Corner whip, Puma flips himself to the apron to avoid the charge. Springboard hop in, Signo ducks under and dropkicks Puma down. Dropkick again sends Puma back to the corner where he started. Signo charges, no one home, Sign hangs himself in the ropes, and Puma dropkick him into the corner hard. Signo dropped by his head on the mat. Puma leans over Signo's upraised legs and tries to press Signo down for a pin, but that isn't going to work. Signo kicks his opponent away. Off the ropes, Signo nails Puma with a dropkick to the head. Puma grabbed, leg hooked, swinging fisherman's suplex. Some hesitation there, but Signo got it. One two no. Both back up in corners, Signo misses another charge. Corner whip, Puma charges in close behind for a clothesline, back the other with for a clothesline, and Signo thrown down on his face in the center of the ring. Cover, one two no. Puma covers again one two NO. Puma covers again, One two NO. Puma would prefer a much faster count. What now? Go for the mask! Signo shoves him away. Shoulderblock, Signo goes wild with punches and kicks and such. Puma bumped completely to the ring. Signo to the apron - Asai reverse plancha connects! That's high tech dive by Signo's level. Replays as both men gather themselves. Both in, and Puma demands the slap fight. Puma is great at taunting Signo in between these. Signo is better at blocking one and slapping Puma in the nose. Elbow drops, and stomps. Whip, reversed, Signo legdrop misses, and Puma nails him with the sweep kick. Puma nods his head yep. Whip, Signo back, Puma leapfrogs him, back again, sunset flip, Signo rolls thru and dropkick him in the chest. Signo ties up the legs and goes – into Puma small package one two NO. That's worked a lot in this tournament, not here. Puma not happy with the counter again. Big boot for Signo, but Signo catches the second, and turns into a powerbomb. That's a Negro Casas spot right there. Bending over cover, one two NO. Casita , kind of in the ropes, but they'll start the counter – one two Puma gets a foot on the middle rope. Puma yells at the crowd. Puma off the ropes, charging, Signo flips him to the apron on the ramp side, and shoves him back that way. Signo climbs the ropes, but Puma kicks his feet on him. Puma back up 2/3rds of the ramp, charges, and runs in with a flying sunset flip powerbomb! One two NO. Both men about at their limit. They get up head to head. Puma chops Signo into the ropes Whip, reverses, Signo clothesline Puma. Grab the legs tied up again, Puma trips Signo up and ties the legs himself. Around into a – figure four? Chop fight while in the leg hold, which isn't very clear. Puma rolls thru, and now it seems a lot more like an inverted figure four. Sign in trouble, crawling to the ropes, reaching one, reaching twice – and has them! Crowd seem into it. Corner whip, reversed, Signo charge into a heel kick. Puma leaps to the apron, springboard frontcracker – is blocked? Stepped away? Signo grabs the legs and doesn't go down. Instead, he stomps Puma three times, ties up the legs, ties up the arms and shakes the head. Nudo Signo is enough to do it.

Signo, who gets completely different music for his win, thanks Negro and is fired up to be in the second round. He's going to win! Negro butts in to scream that Signo is one of the best wrestlers in the new generation.

Tania talks to Maya, who praises Diamante & Hombre Bala.

Forjando un Idolo mentor promo. Same one as an hour ago.

Match 3: Diamante vs Hombre Bala Jr.
Arena Mexico, 04/29/2011

Winner: Diamante
Match Time: 4:45
Rating: hurried but they made the most of it
Notes: Hombre Bala has a new green and black outfit. Referee is Maya. Sound is off.

Fist Lockup ends with Hombre Bala being shoved away, so comes back with lots of kicks to the midsection and boot to the head. Diamante gets up and superkicks him. Snap mare, spine kick, spine kick, spine kick misses, and Bala works him over with kicks to the leg. Kickboxing! Zero leg trips get us nowhere, but Bala gets Diamante with a good armdrag and a less good quebradora con giro. Bullet tope! They're hurrying, and I'd know that even if the the video bar didn't already let me know me know that we were halfway done with the entire video. They don’t lay around selling the move much, both getting back in rather quick. Diamante flips Bala to the apron, Bala calls him out, and forearms him from there, but Diamante blocks a turnbuckle smashes and clothesline Bala to the floor. Diamante runs – tope con giro! Bala bent over on impact, so he caught Diamante's back with his own back. That doesn't work. Diamante down and grabbing his right ankle. Diamante in, Bala to the apron, Bala tells Diamante to come over there, Diamante dive rolls out as Bala dive rolls in. Neat. Bala blocks Diamante's punch, kicks him, looks to the crowd, and turns back into a swing kick. Diamante springboard 450 splash comes up empty! Bala moves just in time, then keeps move for a quebrada, and it connects. Ref Maya checks the pin before counting, one two NO. Both men taking a slight bit of time getting up. Bala clothesline is blocked, Diamante grabs his head and grabs him as if for a cutter and turns to the corner, Bala shoves him off, inside cradle, one two NO. Both men up, Bala clothesline can't get Diamante down, off the ropes, into a powerslam. One two NO. Diamante thought he had it. Both slow up. Diamante boot, knocks Bala into the corner. Diamante rolls and jumps into a 'rana, but Bala powerbombs him in front of the corner. Bala going up, moonsault, tornillo connects, one two NO. Well, Bala is well screwed now. Both up, Diamante blocks a clothesline, turns Bala around again, kick, flip piledriver, one two three.

Diamante is out of breath talking his win, but is ready for técnicos or rudos.

Match 4: Averno, Mr. Niebla ©, Negro Casas vs La Máscara, La Sombra © , Rush
Arena Mexico, 04/29/2011

  1. técnicos

  2. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 8:59
Rating: not a lot good
Notes: Entrances. Rush, then La Mascara, then Averno attacking La Mascara from behind to speed this whole thing up. The rest of the rudos are with Averno, but go take care of Rush. Sombra hurries to help. Zacarias is out last. Tirantes' suspenders actually cover up part of the ad, they'll have to fix that.

1: Beatdown. Averno goes for La Mascara's mask while the other rudos take care of the other técnicos. Suplexing a guy on the stage is a good way to get everyone paying attention to you, as Mr. Niebla notes. Averno happy taunting the crowd while his partners hold La Máscara for him. One kick to the head, back up on the top buckle to go for the mask again. La Mascara's mask is ripped up good. Rush slaps Niebla around a bit. Rudos press slam Mascara out on this his partners, and are quickly DQed. As always, rudos are completely confused by that rule.

2: No commercial break between falls. Niebla smells up the ring girl's armpit. Zacarias is just hanging out in the rudo corner, not really doing much. A lot of brawling. Really lazy double shoulderblock by Negro & Niebla to send Sombra out. Zacarias gets in a cheap kick just to do something. Averno stokes the rudo chant. Triple headbutt to Sombra is at least fun. Sombra ducks a double chop, and Negro's taking out. Rudos boot out Sombra, but Rush missile dropkicks Niebla. Rush moves out of the way of Averno senton, and Máscara storms back in to quebradora con giro Averno. Mascara rips up Averno's mask, so badly CMLL has to blur the screen, but not bad enough for a DQ. Mascara set up on the top rope for more, and the other técnicos brawl with the other rudos. Mascara headscissors sends Averno out, and Mascara follows with a tope. Rush misses a dropkick on Negro, Negro lights him up with kicks to chest. Whip, reverses, Negro limbs under a clothesline, but walks right into the superkick. Rush and Negro Casas need to have a singles match. Chops by Rush. Rush taunts the crowd! Whip, reversed into a Negro sleeper, Rush drops down and kicks Negro in the head. Off the ropes, hiptoss, blocked, Rush blocks into an abdominal stretch cradle – which is a submission this time, because Negro gives. OK.

Niebla in. Slap for Rush. Rush chop. Niebla asks for more, gets more. Niebla takes down his tope and demand another chop. Niebla starts to dances, blocks Rush's chop, slaps him in the face, powerbomb! One two thee! Don't mess with Mr. Niebla! Sombra springboard rolls in, but Niebla causally dropkick him down. Full on Niebla dance now. Spit is – caught! Went a bit to the side there. Niebla is fired up, and turning into Sombra's springboard dropkick. Sombra leaps to the top rope, faces int, and dives out with a moonsault to the floor. Mascara and Averno in. Máscara rips off his shirt. Off the ropes, under, shoulderblock, springboard into a casadora, rolling into to the campana, but Averno shoves Máscara off into Tirantes. Tirantes stumbles but seems alert. Averno goes for the foul kick, Mascara blocks, Averno throws his mask, past Mascara, Tirantes catches it (!), Averno screams (!!) and covers up. Mascara covers Averno, and Tirantes fast counts one two three. Huh. Don't throw masks at Tirantes, he does not appreciate it.

Reverse angle replay show us Averno has frosted his hair again.

Next week: Mascara Dorada, Averno, Mephisto, Ephesto, Máximo, Sombra, Super Porky and Forjando un Idolo.

Announcers wrap up.
