Match 1: Höruz & Robin vs Bronco & Cholo
Arena Mexico, 04/01/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:25
Rating: seemed like it was going some plaec good, then completely derailed
Notes: Höruz and Robin's music is over dubbed. This is Höruz's first match with the Angel Blanco inspired gear, and this is Cholo's – well, we'll get to that. I can't remember if I've seen Robin in a match, at least one I've recapped. Ref is Babe Richard

1: JCR knows all the edecanes names. Bronco makes Robin jump all around on his arm wringers. Arm wringer toss, and Robin rolls around like his arm might have Bronce. The section behind where Cholo is standing is nearly completely empty. Armwringer is working well, so Bronco sticks it out. Hip block takeover. Stomp. Armbar, bite the hand! Kick to the arm. Robin writhes in pain. He could really use some help here, Höruz. Bronco bites the hand again, and Babe Richard is getting annoyed with this, slapping Bronco in the head to get hm to let go. Armbar. Under armbar trap. Other arm! Robin finally step over flips out of the hold, and gets an armdrag. Two and half minutes in, his first offensive move. Bronco tries to clothesline, Robin ducks under like a scared man, and still gets shoulderblocks. Robin tries to do repeated kip ups, but the camera miss it until he screws up one. Poor Robin. Bronco knocks him into the ropes on a chest slap, charges, and flies to the floor when Robin ducks down with the ropes. Robin dive fake and pose. Cholo in. Höruz in to face him. Lots of quick reversals on the mat, Cholo finally pinning Höruz's arm under his knee. Höruz tries to fight form there, but Höruz pulls him up in an armbar. Springboard flip set up an armdrag escape. There's not many people here. Lockup, Cholo revere armbar takedown, armdrag sends Höruz away. Lockup, double wristlock by Cholo, Höruz force down to the mat, and Cholo steps on the hand. Harsh technique typical for a man from the underworld. Hammerlock, Höruz frees himself with a jumping snap mare. Cholo out, Höruz poses. Tags back to Bronco and Robin. Bronco tells the crowd what's what. Charge, Robin slides under the big boot, then gets Bronco with a jumping armbar on the next pass. Stomp. Whip - no, Bronco has the ropes and isn't going. Robin tries forearms to weaken him. That doesn't work, but Bronco lets Robin start one so he can reverse it. Robin sit son the middle rope, Bronco charges with a fist, Robin kicks it away and headscissors him. Robin sets up for a dive, but Cholo cuts him off in to apron. Cholo hooks Robin's arm and flips on. Armdrag sends Robin to the ropes, Cholo backwards rolls into a headscissors, but Robin shoves him off. Cholo armdrags Robin from the mat, Robin goes out, Richard follows with what looks like a normal (but good) tope. Unfortunately, Cholo gets his left (far) trapped underneath his body as he lands, causing his injury. He immediately grabs it, in some pain. Höruz and Bronco in, Bronco drops him with a quebradora, does another which isn't quite a good. Bronco locks Höruz in – I don't even know what to call it. A double armbar reverse headscissors with bucking action? Let's go with that. It's suitably crazy enough for the win.

Bronco leaves the ring to go collect his partner, but the doctor is already there and tells Bronco to back off. Cholo's in a lot of pain. Referee counts them both out, and Cholo is yelping pain as they put him on the stretcher. JCR calls Bronco's finish a variation of the cavernaria; that works for me.

2: This one continues, but two on one. Bronco didn't seem much concerned before, and starts out by handling Höruz. Backdrop, clothesline sends him out. Robin is down on the outside for some reason (still from the dive), and Bronco holds of with a kick, an axhandle, and run into the post. Babe Richard decides this is TOO FAR and calls a DQ. They want out of this match right away, I guess. Bronco rightfully protests that lame call.

Replay shows the referee might have called the DQ before the ring post shot, but couldn't catch up to Bronco before then.

3: Höruz checks on Robin, who is half dead on the apron. Bronco threatens leaving again, but returns. He sidesteps a Höruz dropkick, slams him on the mat, picks him back up, and puts him in a submission, but Robin break sit up. Robin holds his head throughout – props for trying to get over that DQ. Técnicos knock down the big man. Höruz tells Robin to get up, lifts Bronco over his shoulders, and drops him in the middle of the ring. It's a bit too far for Robin, who's top rope splash only sort of makes it there (on his feet, and then falling down – it's hidden well here.) One two three.

Bronco lays out the técnicos with kicks and walks off. HOORAY Bronco.

Match 2: Metálico ©, Starman, Tigre Blanco vs Dr. X, Hooligan, Nitro ©
Arena Mexico, 04/01/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 15:23 shown
Rating: good
Notes: Técnico team is pretty much the midcard técnico remnants of Gen98? Gen99? It's good Tigre Blanco holds no grudge over Metálico abandoning him for Starman, matching gear wise. They still haven't updated Tigre Blanco's video. Metálico is now using a remix of the Magnum PI opening, which is the greatest thing I've ever heard. It does transition into a normal dance song. Tuareg are all in matching masks. LATV can't tell them apart coming to the ring. It's a bit easier when they reveal their “real” masks.

1: JCC notes Metálico's gold outfit makes him look a lot like El Supremo, and he's discussed a bit. Metálico and Nitro start off on the mat but don’t stay there, or in long. Hooligan/Starman is better, with a nice sneaky kneelift spot by the fifth best wrestler in Mexico. Tigre Blanco and Dr. X are last. Dr. X's red X upper armbands are nice looking. Announcers spending a lot of time introducing everyone and talking about who they used to be, and not a lot about the match. Dr. X dominates Tiger Blanco, but Blanco catches a kick, spins Dr. X, and dropkicks him out. And, local commercial interruption.

About a minute later, my LATV jumps back to see the rudos finishing up the fall with submissions. Crowd shots are never so long as when you're watching for replays. Okay, Starman took out Hooligan with a tope con giro, but then rudos got won the ensuing battle. Dr. X's full nelson bomb and cradle look quite good.

2: Rudos in control. Nitro tosses Starman in the air, Starman lands on his feet, and Hooligan than kicks him. Not a hurry here. Blanco dropped over the top rope for a Dr. X low blow dropkick. Starman is chopped around. Announcers now named dropping El Dorado and El Solitario. Metálico held on the ramp for a Nitro low blow dropkick. Rudo announcers agree: that is not a foul. Starman manages a fireman's carry escape armdrag to start the comeback. Hooligan kicks in Starman's general direction, and Starman goes down. Hooligan chases him out, as Metálico comes in and misses a corner charge on Dr. x. Hooligan grabs Metálico and tosses him down. Dr. X backs up the ropes for something, but Blanco pulls him out as Metálico kicks Hooligan out. On opposite sides of the rings, Metálico and Blanco do stereo Asai moonsaults. Nitro in, but Starman planchas him. Nitro off the ropes, under, clothesline low and telegraphed, Mendoza roll, one two three.

3: Rejoined in progress locally. Tiger Blanco is throwing around Dr. X, but Dr. X stomps him down. Tiger Blanco comes back with a monkey flip. Blanco escapes a backdrop, and dropkicks Dr. X off. Blanco gets a rolling start, rolls over the top rope, and follows with a big headscissors. Hooligan stomps down Starman in the ring, but Starman comes back with a couple of armdrags, including a rope bounce one. Hooligan goes to the floor, and Starman jumps over him from the apron for a nice headscissors. Metálico and Nitro in, lots of avoidance lead to a Metálico side headscissors and an armdrag to send Nitro out to the ramp. Metálico has an elaborate pose. Back to Blanco and Dr. X . Rudo drops the técnicos with a mighty chop, sandwiches him with a him with a corner clothesline, but crotches himself on a slingshot dropkick in. Not sure if that was on purpose or not – I think it was, but the fans reacted to it like it was a botch. Blanco picks him up, and drops him with a Falcon Arrow for the pin.

Hooligan traps Blanco with an arm scissors, which is mostly missed on a crowd shot.

Metálico charges, but his dropkick misses. Hooligan chops him, whip, reversed, Metálico boosts him up, Hooligan comes down with a 'rana. Metálico grabs Hooligan, but Starman's missile dropkick sends up hitting his partner. Hooligan knocks Starman down and climbs the corner. Hooligan plancha onto Metálico! Nitro and Starman in, Starman throws Nitro with a hiptoss, but his 'rana is turned into a powerbomb, and Nitro puts on a sort of reverse cloverleaf to end it. Nitro hangs on to it a bit, and takes a three count before letting go.

Nitro celebrates. Replay shows Hooligan did a sweet entry into his submission. That's it.
