Match 1: Sagrado vs Mephisto in a lightning match
Arena Mexico, 08/07/2009

Winner: Mephisto
Match Time: 6:49
Rating: Good
Notes: Sagrado's got a nice looking hooded jacket. Rafael el Maya is ref.

Lockup, break. Lockup, chain wrestling, right up until this video segment ends. Why did they edit 14 seconds of the match into this clip?

Anyway, Sagrado has Mephisto rolling, taking an armdrags. Mephisto still has his muscled physique here. Another exchange, Sagrado flips out of an armbar nicely into an armdrag. Another exchange, but Sagrado reverses an under armbar into a headscissors. Mephisto off the ropes, into a big hiptoss. Sagrado ready for more, but Mephisto will have to get up first. Sagrado off the ropes, rebound armdrag, and Mephisto goes out on that one. Sagrado wasting no time– tope, sending Mephisto into the front row. Front row person pats Sagrado on the back and encourage him out. Mephisto has to pull himself out of a chair. Both are in danger of being counted out, but Mephisto pulls Sagrado off the apron so he can climb in first. Sagrado waits gets up the apron and waits for him. Mephisto charges, and catch his boot in the ropes. Sagrado snap kicks him away. Springboard 'rana, Mephisto blocks it falling backwards, and powerbombs Sagrado, who covers the back of his head on the way down. Cradle, one two NO. Sagrado is still grabbing his head, but insisting on going on. Whip, reversed, Mephisto runs into the spinning backbreaker, gutbuster combo. Chest slap contest, which Mephisto actually wins. Mephisto grabs Sagrado, and takes his time setting up the whip. Reverses, Sagrado spins Mephisto around, but Mephisto counters into a spinning DDT. One two NO. Sagrado pounds the mask, looking for help. Crowd isn't that into it, but a Sagrado chant does pick up. Some boos to counter it. Mephisto off the ropes, waved by, into a Sagrado powerslam, one two no. Sagrado off the ropes, 'rana, rolled thru, one two NO. I wish we had a middle portion of this match, but the tope accelerated things. Sagrado waiting of Mephisto to get up again, and then superkicking him out. Ah, dive time again – of the ropes, double jump, but Mephisto's on the apron and ducking out of the way. Sagrado lands on the apron himself, Mephisto charges, hiptoss blocked and Mephisto hiptosses Sagrado to the floor instead. That's a hard fall. Sagrado springboard twisting tope con giro, to the feet of the front row! That was nice. Both crawl back in before the count. Mephisto whips Sagrado to the corner, charge in, Sagrado slips out of the ring and hits him with a high kick. Sagrado leaps to the middle, bounces to the rop rope, moonsault off one two NO. Uh oh, that's kinda his move. Hope he has a backup plan. Crowd behind him as loud as they've been, though it's mostly coming from one section. Sagrado 'rana is tossed off, Mephisto kicks him, double underhook faceslam. That should do it. One two NO. No one's finisher is quite working tonight. Both men are looking winded. Mephisto clothesline misses, Sagrado shoulderblock, both rush the corner, Sagrado leaps up, and Mephisto crotches him. Mephisto pulls him on to his back – superbomb actually works! Oone two THREE. 99 out of 100, Sagrado reverses that to a 'rana, but not tonight.

Match 2: Metro ©, Pegasso, Rey Cometa vs Loco Max, Nitro ©, Skándalo
Arena Mexico, 08/14/2009

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 16:07
Rating: good.
Notes: Pegasso & Rey Cometa get a shared entrance, while Meto gets to pose all by himself. Tuareg are happy to have Nitro back. Refs are Bestia Negra and Rodolfo Ruiz.

1: Tuareg are too busy posing together to start the match, and then they all don't know who's going to start. Does Loco max get to wrestle in his mask? That seems odd. Skandalo and Cometa to start. Lockup, Skandalo waistlock, Cometa looking for a way out, armbar will work. Into a hammerlock. Skandalo to a headlock – there's that odd segment break again.

Cometa turns out of it, but gets thrown down by the back of the mask. Skandalo is warned, ignores it. Nitro is way too fired up to be back, he can't stand still. Lockup, Skandalo facelock, both roll around on the mat reversing it, and neither gets anywhere. Skandalo singe leg takedown, Cometa stood up for a snap mare, crucifix roll up, one two no. Standoff. Cometa is pretty well losing this. Lockup, Cometa trips Skandalo down, facelock on the ground, Skandalo rolls free and on top for zero, Cometa armdrags, flip to his feet, zero leg trip exchange, and another standoff. Skandalo yells at the crow rather than look at his opponent. Tags to Pegasso and Loco Max. Pegasso flipping right into Loco Max's face. Loco takes off his mask now. Lockup, break. Lockup, Loco waistlock, takedown, into a front facelock, Pegasso rolls it into an armbar, Loco Max rolls into at rip and a knee lock, I guess. Pegasso turns free, flips to his feet, but gets armdrags down by Loco. That looked a bit off. Lockup, Loco flips Pegasso over his hip, back behind for a hammerlock. Double wristlock, and Loco forces Pegasso onto the mat. Pegasso gets up, but Loco keeps the armbar on. Pegasso flips free, stops, then does the armdrags. Pegasso looks down at Loco on the mat and stares, which increases tension. Nothing comes of o it. Nitro and Metro in. Nitro's got to stop to pose, thought there's no big reaction. Metro cartwheels over Nitro off the ropes, Nitro knocks him down with a chest slap, then knocks down Comet and Pegasso off the apron as his teammates assault Metro. Metro whipped into a back elbow. Nitro calls his partner to do another whip. Spinebuster takedown, two man tapatía, and Nitro adds a running dropkick to the head. Pegasso springboards in with an armdrag to send out Nitro, and Cometa boots him into a double dropkick on the others. Nice save by the tecnicos. Dives – stereo tornillos! Captains in, Nitro bocks Metro's clothesline, Metro blocks Nitro's clothesline, Metro German suplex one two three. Tecnicos pulled that one out. I guess the rust isn't off Nitro yet.

2: Pegasso and Loco start with off the ropes avoidance bits. Pegasso sends Loco with an armdrag, but gets jumped from behind by Nitro. Skandalo helps with a chest slap of his own, and both back Pegasso back to the ropes. Whip, Pegasso ducks under a clothesline (bad, not much of a duck), Pegasso tries a plancha on the next pass, both rudos catch him, and Skandalo gives him a spinning slam. Whip, Nitro boost him up, and Pegasso dropkicks Skandalo on the way down. Spinning headscissors sends Nitro out. Pegasso stops to pose. Can't really tell the difference between the Tuareg with Nitro and without. Rudos in no hurry to get back in, but Metro gets tagged in the meantime. Nitro in to face him. Nitro clean off the mat while looking around. One solid chest slap knocks Metro down. Whip, reversed, Nitro goes under, hiptoss, hiptoss, hiptossed a third time, and Nitro begs off and leaves. Nitro turns around, celebrates, and eats a Loco plancha. Loco got him good there, but presses his luck with a running shoulderblock. Metro is not budged, and knocks down Loco with his own shoulderblock. Required Loco Max taking a monkey flip moment. Metro is ready for more, but Lock has to get up. Monkey flip. I think Sangre gets lightly more distance, but then he's also taller. It's close. Again, rudos in no hurry to pick it up. Cometa waits. Nitro in, and chest slapping. Cometa can at least and up for more than one, and fires back with his own. Nitro back with his own, and following up with a kick before Cometa can respond. Whip, reversed, Nitro rolls over, and cuts off Cometa with a clothesline. Crowd shot here, oddly timed. Skandalo waved in to help. Corner whip, Nitro whipped in after, Cometa does the between the ropes slip thru escape that's really popular all the sudden, but unfortunately Nitro tries sliding out that side (?) and Cometa just kinda steps on him. Awkward. Comet stomp him and Nitro throws his hands up in frustration upon finally reaching the floor. Skandalo charges in, gets chopped away, and Cometa does a nice top rope tornillo into an armdrag to add it to it. Cometa handspring headscissors, spinning all the way around for it, which also looks neat. Cometa runs for a dive, but slides out after Skandalo instead. Skandalo dares him to charge him. Cometa thinks about it, and Loco Max slides out behind to knock him down before hand Meanwhile, Nitro knocks Metro off the apron and hammers Pegasso. Rudos look like they've got the beatdown going this time. Pegasso is crotched on the post. Metro is fed back in the ring for Skandalo and Nitro, who talk to him on the ropes while waiting for Loco Max to come in. Whip, drop toe hold, elbow drop, camel clutch, Nitro running dropkick to the head. Nitro doesn't have the chemistry with his teammates at the moment. Pegasso crotched. Whip, Nitro spinebusters, rudos hold his legs apart, Nitro drops a low blow elbow drop as the other two drop normal ones. Cometa in, and sidestepping one kick, but getting chopped down before more. Corner whip, Nitro sets Cometa on the top rope and crotches him. Rudos pull him off into powerbomb, and Loco adds a top rope splash. One two three. Metro in, and whipped to Skandalo – Skandalo Driver finishes it.

3: Rudos still in control. Metro gets tripped up, but we see the ring girl instead of more. Her outfit leaves very little unseen. Back in the ring, Comet takes corner charges, including a running low blow dropkick from Skandalo. Cometa beat as he comes in. whip, double flapjack into Loco's upraised feet. Metro back in, but kicked and chopped. Whip, double clothesline is too high, and Metro dropkicks Nitro out. Skandalo and Loco kick him down, but turn to see the other two flying in. Pegasso gets Skandalo with a springboard armdrags, but Loco evades comet – only to run into a backdrop to the apron. Cometa follows up with a chop, but Loco blocks it and hits his own. This leaves Loco on the apron, so when metro tries to tope thru, Loco cuts off the the tecnico with a kick. (metro slowed down near the ropes, really obvious like.) Loco comes back in, but eats a spinning backbreaker from Loco. Loco gets up to charge again, but Cometa scoops him up on his shoulders, and Pegasso comes off the top rope with a double stomp into a tope con giro (sorta) on Skandalo. Cometa drops Loco and goes up, as Pegasso drops Skandalo in front of the other corner – 450 splash on Loco, 450 splash on Skandalo, that's the match.

Match 3: Flash vs Arkangel de la Muerte in a lightning match
Arena Mexico, 08/14/2009

Winner: Arkangel
Match Time: 4:34
Rating: fine Flash show case, but couold've been a bit more competitive
Notes: Ref is Babe Richard

Arkangel is already controlling action to the mat when they get around to showing it, but Flash escapes with an armdrag. Flash goes down to an armbar headscissors combo, but headstands out of that headscissors and exchange zero count pins. Armdrag sends Arkangel to the ropes again. Ark charges with a clothesline, Flash back bends under, Ark nicely waits for him to get up and stop posing. Flash runs by, then goes over Ark's shoulder for an armdrag on the next pass. Ark goes out, Flash sets up and runs towards him – and does a Fosbery Flop type dive over the ropes. Maybe a running twist moonsault, I guess? Unusual for sure. Gotta try things to keep up here. Flash picks Arkangel up enough to chop him. Replays shows Flash probably needs to work on that dive a little more. After the replays, Arkangel has Flash on the top rope and works him over with chops. Flash finally ducks one, headscissors Ark once, and pulls him off with a very loose headscissors. One two no. I would hope not. Ark's open hand slap is blocked, Flash lifts him on to his shoulders, and drops him in front. Flash runs over him to the ropes, pump splash, one two no. Flash shoulderblock, to the ropes, but Ark is right behind him and trips him up as Flash gets to the ropes. Ark tries coming with a slingshot elbow drop but Flash moves out of the way. Quebrada, one two no. Flash mises a clothesline, and Ark knocks him down with an open hand slap. Ark tries another, Flash moves, and Ark somehow throws himself out. Flash backs up, charges, and spins thru the ropes into a headscissors on Arkangel. Neat idea, though it also needs a little bit of refining. Flash makes it in firs, but we see replays instead of what's going on. Flash knocks Arkangel down with something, but they're just back up quick. Flash 'rana, one two NO. Flash clothesline misses, and Ark pulls him into a urange backbreaker. Elbow drop for good measure. One two three. Sure felt like Arkangel got all of one move that match, but I guess that's all he needed. Replays.

Stellar Moments:

Promo: Black Warrior, threatening Yujiro. He's got back up – the rest of Poder Mexica. Black Warrior pretends to smoke something at the end of this group promo, which is great and wrong.

Match 4: Black Warrior ©, Dragon Rojo Jr., Sangre Azteca vs Naito, Ray Mendoza Jr. ©, Yujiro
Arena Mexico, 08/14/2009

  1. Poder Mexica
  2. Poder Mexica

Winner: Poder Mexica (2-1)
Match Time: 10:18
Rating: not that much, but some parts better than expected
Notes: No Limit really shouldn't have Electroshock's music. Just for my own sanity. Mima Shimoda is out with them. Ray Mendoza gets more cheers than I would've thought. Maybe they're dubbed into his music? They don't have a video for him, but then finding action highlights might be tough. No Limit and Mendoza wait for Warrior down at the end of the stairs, and Warriors stalls just long enough that you know Dragon and Sangre are coming around the side to attack. Sangre grabs Yujiro and rushes him all the way back to the ring, while still having the snake head on. Got the wrong one, though.

1: Warrior brings Naito back to the ring, and I assume that's because they're making a switch, but it's more just brawling. V5 starts to make a come back on Dragon Rojo, so Sangre has to rush over to help him. Naito takes the sunset flip rolled into a dropkick. Sangre Azteca adds the low blow dropkick. Mendoza is held for Sangre punches. They get him on to his knees and Warrior oddly tries to choke him from underneath. That doesn't work, but corner charges, including Sangre's dropkick, work better. Yujiro in, and attacked coming thru the ropes. Whip, spinebuster, Warrior sits up Yujiro with a dropkick low, Dragon Rojo and Sangre add a dropkick high. Poder Mexica leaves Warrior in, and he promptly puts his head down too soon and gets it kicked. Naito and Mendoza pull the other two off the apron and beat them on outside, then come in to help Yujiro. Missile dropkick by Naito. Powerslam by Mendoza, but he pulls Warrior up by three. Naito & Mendoza double backdrop, double elbow drop, Yujiro covers, one two pulled up again. Why cover him? Whip, back elbow. Naito over. Whip, clothesline. This is not so exciting. Whip by Mendoza, clothesline. What a team. Mendoza stomps Warrior, but the refs are puling him off – for a DQ? Both sides argue for a bit, but it stands. That's the weakest excessive violence disqualification I've ever seen.

After the rudos give up the argument, they do try and get their money's worth on Warrior.

2: Beatdown continues. Announcers are busy marking out for people at ringside. No Limit has a whole sequence on Dragon Rojo, then they Mendoza to add his senton. That was actually like team work there for a second, very odd for this match. Sangre comes in, but gets kicked out. Dragon Rojo takes backdrop over the ropes and into the great unknown past the limits of the screen. Sangre back in now, and being worked over. Spinebuster dropkick combo for him, then hold on the apron for a Mendoza dropkick. This leaves Mendoza in the ring alone for a minute, so Warrior gets in to confront him – only to get knocked down by Yujiro, of course. Everyone takes turns chop and slapping him. No Limit holds him for a Mendoza charge, but Sangre kicks him from outside, and Dragon Rojo springboard dropkicks the other two. Mendoza takes a casual bump off Sangre's wheel kick, and Warrior destroys him with his tope. That was something. Inside, Mexicans rammed into each other. No Limit hammer them with forearms, but Black Warrior arrives to make the rescue. Naito takes a boosted dropkick from Dragon Rojo, and Sangre follows him out with a plancha. Dragon Rojo trips up Yujiro on the ropes, and Warrior adds the 619. One more dropkick, Yujiro really feeding his chin for that. Sangre comes back to lift up Yujiro, Dragon remembers to chop him down eventually, Sangre holds him over his knees, and Warrior adds the guillotine legdrop. Everyone covers, one two three. Mendoza's the captain, which Mendoza remembers, but absolutely no one else does. Mendoza attacks Sangre, and Sangre escapes by running, then celebrating, then running some more. Poder Mexica celebrates on the ramp.

Vignette: Mr. Niebla has new pile of junk for the Peste Negra junkyard. Lots of great trash , which he raves about to Negro. Negro's reading a newspaper (Metro, of course), where he finds out that Místico is in Japan. Niebla wants him to focus on their match. There are sure some random homeless people hanging out around here.

Match 5: Héctor Garza, Shocker ©, Toscano vs Atlantis ©, Mr. Niebla, Último Guerrero
Arena Mexico, 08/14/2009

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:46
Rating: not that interesting
Notes: Hector Garza needs a motorcycle for the 20 meter trip to the ring? I'm not even sure it's on besides the light. Shocker is not yet signing his own song to the ring. That's gotta be coming. Mr. Niebla has a Kid Mr. Niebla with him. Rudos rush the tecnicos before the intros are finished. Looks like Babe Richard and Tiger Hispano are refs.

1:Beatdown. Toscano gets a double boot. Shocker take a corner charges and the senton de la muerte. Garza take a three man faceslam, and Shocker and Toscano charge into drop toe holds for the group facelock submission.

2: Rudos still in control. Hector Garza is giving the big sit on the ramp side of the ring. Toscano and Shocker both come in the ring in the meantime to confront, but the rudos get the best of them. Tecincos are all whipped into each other, and all fall down. Toscano is sent into Shocker, Shocker a backdrops his partner to the apron and clothesline Ultimo down, but gets dropped by the other two. Toscano planchas the two rudos, Ultimo is unsuccessful in breaking up the pin, Shocker splashes everyone, then everyone gets up and does their a finish. Toscano is using a basic suplex as a finisher? Huh. That's the fall.

3: Tecnico showcase time. Shocker doesn't feel Niebla chops and gives them back, before armdrag him around and ending with a big shove. Rebound double hiptoss on the other two, doesn't look so good. Garza in, and he still hasn't gotten to take of his shirt. After some avoidance bits with UG, he puts up the stop sign and takes it off, though they're more interesting in showing reactions than Garza. Oh, he's got pull off pants too. Rudos jump him while he's posing, but Garza ends up getting Atlantis with a headscissors and UG with a heel kick of no consequence. Niebla shoulderblocks him, and Garza flies thru the ropes far faster than the impact would suggest. Niebla dance, but Garza cuts him up off climb the ropes, and then kicks him as he hangs. Garza lures UG in, so he can tag in Toscano. I don't know why, but that's what he did. Toscano has to issue his own time out to strip, which is getting old a now. Toscano has nothing to do that the others guys in front of him didn't do. Niebla sends him out with a handspring revenge tope, kicks him down on the floor, and goes the the ropes with a senton con giro , which is pretty neat. Tecnicos rush in, and rudos completely own them – Atlantida, reinera, that's the match.

About four minutes of time killing, and they're done.
