Recapped: 02/17/09

Match 1: Pierrothito (c), Mini Violencia, Mini Warrior vs Bam Bam, Mascarita Dorada (c), Shockercito
Arena Puebla, 02/06/09

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:58
Approx Rating: really fun
Other Match Notes: No entrances. Monito is with the tecnicos for no reason (except it's the third from the top match, I guess)

1: Violencia and Bam Bam are working on the mat while everything else is shown. Violencia pulls down his straps for a slap match. Violencia misses a punch, and Bam Bam superkicks him down. Armbar, Shockercito adds a weak clothesline and then puts on his own armbar, but Violencia kicks him away. Violencia tries to get away, but Shockercito gives him a drop toe hold and a crucifix rollup. Violencia gets free and chops Shockercito around. Whip, Shockercito back with a spinning headscissors. Shocker stops to wave. Off the ropes, caught in a side slam, Violencia walks over the corner while delivering it so Pierrothito can come in with a slingshot elbow drop. Pierroth takes Shockercito to the corner, whips him the other way, and charges with a thru the ropes clothesline, then back in with a slingshot senton. Pierrothito poses – maybe you'd like to do that not facing the ramp?” Pierrothito picks up Shockercito, who fights back but gets stopped with a shot to the back. Whip, clothesline is too high (of course) and Shockercito gets a delayed headscissors. Pierroth runs him out of the ring with a shoulderblock. Dive? I don't think that's going to work. Doesn't matter, Dorada cuts off Pierrothito with a swinging kick. Dorada in with a – well, maybe a headscissors, but Pierroth bends down and Dorada ends up sliding down his back. How odd. Dorada kicks Pierroth in the leg, whip, reversed, Dorada's bodyscissors armdrag sends Pierrothito out. Dive? No, Warrior cuts him off with a top rope plancha. Dorada charges Warrior in the corner, Warrior flips him to the ropes and celebrates, Dorada climbs up to the top rope, walks the rope a bit, and flies off with a spinning headscissors. Dorada off the ropes, up – no, something botched and Dorada tries to make it a quick armdrag. Warrior pops up quick and slaps Dorada. Whip, Dorada rolling faceslam. Dorada off the ropes, over Warrior's back and armdrag him. Rebound armdrag off the ropes sends Warrior the other way. Dorada off the ropes, spinning headscissors sends him out. Dorada sets up for a dive again, but Violencia cuts him off. Shoulderblock for Violencia, who's led back for a Bam Bam flying armdrag (or at least some of it.) Bam Bam gets speed – slingshot tornillo! Warrior charges his partner Pierrothito near the ropes, Pierrothito tosses him up and out for a backdrop tope con giro, except Warrior gets almost no distance and brushes the apron with his head on the way down. Bam Bam Barely caught him and might have got kicked in the head in the process. That couldn't have felt good. Those two recover while Shockercito counters a Pierrothito spot to hop on to the top rope – Asai moonsault! Dorada in, top rope headscissors on Pierrothito. Pierrothito holds on, but probably not for the best – Dorada spinning armbar into a satellite armbar, that's it. Announcers mention Dorada as National Minis champion just to confuse me into believing CMLL actually remembers that title. Fist bump for Monito!

2: Rudos have a long discussion before getting started here. Shockercito is just pacing. Pierrothito finally is ready to go, so they give us a shot of Monito reacting. Shockercito sends Pierrothito to the ropes with a bodyscissors armdrag, then runs there for a springboard armdrag. Shockercito fireman's drop in the corner,, and Dorada holds him in position as Monito goes up – second rope butt splash! Crowd approves. Dorada adds a headstand splash and covers, but but Violencia knocks Shockercito out of the ring and breaks up the pin. Violencia goes out to knock down Shockercito for some reason, while Bam Bam stands on the apron confused. Warrior slide dropkicks him out after taking down Dorada in the ring. Warrior to the top – wow, never actually seen someone do a flying axhandle to someone one laying on the ground (without getting kicked in the chin.) Rudos group together on Dorada. Warrior kicks and holds him upside down. Dropkick to the head, dropkick to the back, Dorada sat up for a triple dropkick. Rudos all pose, guess they're not done yet. Dorada looks done. Bam Bam next, knocked down, picked up, and held for a double dropkick to the head. Shockercito tries to fight but goes down without being hit. Lots of organizing in the corner, never a good sign. Shockercito does duck the corner whip and ducks Pierrothito's clothesline, but Warrior is able to take him down with a boot. Shockercito is whipped to Pierroth, who boosts him up for Violencia on the top rope. What is he doing? Violencia holds Shockercito on his shoulder and turns him face towards the ring – so Warrior can climb up for a super high 'rana. (Didn't come off quite right, but quite an idea.) Warrior holds Shockercito in position for a Violencia senton, and Shockercito is down for 3: Pierrothito gives Bam Bam a gory special and his bridged inverted facelock – that's it.

3: Rudos still in complete control. Pierrothito holds Dorada over his shoulders for Warrior to adds a springboard double stomp, and then drops Dorada on Violencia's upraised feet! That's harsh. Rudos have been teaming up enough lately to know their combos. Shockercito is hung on the outside of the ropes, dropkicked back up to a standing potion, and dumped forward onto Violencia's feet. Bam Bam in, Bam Bam kicked into the ropes, rudos rush out to trip him up (partially successful), then to knock him down. Pierrothito holds Bam Bam over his knees, and Mini Black Warrior sets up for his guillotine legdrop – but Dorada cuts him off with his dropkick. That gives Bam Bam time to escape – a superkick for Violencia, brawl with Pierrothito (though Bam Bam forgets Pierrothito is there.) Everyone but Dorada ends up outside, so they focus on Dorada doing nothing. Dorada waits for someone to come in, and connects on Violencia with a rolling dropkick, then gets him with a spinning rebound headscissors. Shoulderblock, quebrada headscissors! Warrior in, triple rotation headscissors into an armdrag! Warrior sent out, Dorada topes him, Warrior catches him, and Dorada still armdrags out. Bam Bam comes in, but misses a missile dropkick on Violencia. Violencia corner whip, charge in, no one's home, Violencia flips off the corner and gets dropkicked out. Pierroth in, Pierroth shoulderblock, Bam Bam charges, backdrop – Bam is totally out of control, and Bam Bam hits hard on the ground. Pierrothito still planning to dive on him, but aborts on the apron when he sees Bam Bam is hiding in the tecnico corner. Pierrothito stops to shoulderblock Shockercito near his corner, and gets pulled down by the mask. Shockercito charges Pierrothito while he's down, and takes a monkey flip into a headscissors on Violencia on the floor! Crazy! Dorada gets another doubler rotation headscissors on Pierrothito, then trips him into the ropes for Bam Bam's long guillotine springboard legdrop. Awful near the ropes, but Tiger Hispano counts it one two three. Meanwhile, Dorada goes up and over for a sunset flip on Warrior, one two three. Great match.

Match 2: Caligula vs Astro Boy
Arena Puebla, 02/06/09

Winner: Astro Boy
Match Time: 2:49
Approx Rating: Eh.
Other Match Notes: Caligula has awesome music. As usual, these guys get full entrances and then about half their match is clipped out.

1: They're still locking up here, so they haven't cut out much yet. Oh, wait, there's a probably edit. And they come back just in time for Astro Boy to apparently blow a spinning headscissors into a spinning armdrags. Caligula goes out anyway, and Astor Boy gets him good with a springboard Asai Moonsault.

Both in after replay, just long enough for Astro Boy to be sent up to show Caligula dive – a pescado splash on a downed Astro Boy. Perhaps they should've just made this into a quick highlights thing and moved on? The time spent on Caligula grabbing his ribs and walking around the ring band back in is perhaps longer than the rest of the match combined. Astro Boy rushes in, blocks Caligula's kicks and punches, and gets him with one chest slap. Perhaps he shouldn't stop to have after that, but he does. Fireman's carry drop, Astor Boy goes up, taking his time – twisting moonsault misses, but Astro Boy lands on his feet anyway. Astor Boy charges back, Caligula kicks him and lifts him on his shoulder – Gory Stretch, kinda modified by going over just one shoulder, and then Astor Boy is thrown off STO like. One two no. Counter, counter, counter, Caligula misses a punch and Astro Boy gives him the back cracker. Odd sitting on top pin, one two three. They pretty much had the fall graphic up before 3.

Match 3: Lizmark Jr., Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis (c) vs Marco Corleone, Místico (c), Dos Caras Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 02/08/09

  1. rudos
  2. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-0)
Match Time: 7:24
Approx Rating: nothing worth watching except maybe Atlantis
Other Match Notes: Hijo de Lizmark is still blaming incompetent refereeing on his hair loss to Marco Corleone. Dos Caras Jr. is wearing the colors of Red Bull. Perhaps that's just the way I'm interrupting it. Místico is wrestling here with two function knees. That won't last. Somehow, he has no title belts. Dos' promos complains about UG's methods the last few weeks. Why does Lizmark Jr. bring a water bottle with him to the ring. UG jumps Dos to get this going.

1: Rudos are 3 on 1 when the match is picked up. Lizmark goes tossed into a double gutbuster, and stomped out of the ring. Dos is kicked coming in. Looks like his mask is untied already. Corner whip, Dos sidesteps Atlantis' charge, Lizmark misses his clothesline and G is too busy posing on the top rope to set the enziguri coming. Marco chooses quick and decides to go after Lizmark with his stone punch, leaving Atlantis to run on the floor after Atlantis. Marco dances and kicks Lizmark down in the corner as everyone else follows around on the outside. Dos chases UG back in and sets him up on the top rope, going after his mask. Atlantis sells big for Místico on the outside, even taking the suplex on the ramp! Dos is so upset at Ultimo Guerrero, he keeps going to the crowd to wave for a reaction. So very upset. Dos and Ultimo are left in the ring, Ultimo over and out – Dos tries to follow with a tope, and catches his legs in the ropes yet again. If Dos wasn't so tall, he'd never hit a dive. Though, his lets probably wouldn't get stuck that way. Marco gets Atlantis with a punch, but Lizmark sneaks in a superkick to take care of him, and Místico turns right into the Atlantida for the finish.

2: Lizmark is working over Marco as the fall starts, but that quickly backfires via leapfrogs. Marco stops to pose, which annoys Lizmark. - who just pulls him down from the corner and chops him. Whip, reveres, Marco puts h his head down too soon, Lizmark sunset flip, Marco blocks it by hip swivel. Lizmark is ticked now. Chest slap, Lizmark punches him back. Chop, big punch. Lizmark does sell the punch good. Lizmark tries one more time, and this time gets batter width punches into the corner. Marco backs up, charges, Lizmark ducks down, Marco flips to the apron, Lizmark pears around to see what happened to Marco and turns right into Marco's swiveling hips. Ultimo in, Dos in, Ultimo out. They play cat and mouse for a bit until Atlantis get tagged in, who be lately realizes that means facing Místico. Místico flipping run, springboard headscissors ends Atlantis to the ropes, 61boooooo, Místico springboard headscissors back in, and Atlantis head out. Místico ready for a dive, Atlantis ROLLS TO ESCAPE (Atlantis is awesome), UG comes in, so Místico hurries to tag Dos in. Pose off. Mostly, Dos posing looking at the fans. Chop fest, which quickly goes bad for UG. UG off the ropes, right into a powerslam. Dos can't help but get up and shake his hands,, instead of actually trying to win. UG gets up, kicks him down into the corner, charges and takes the knee bump out. Dos goes for a dive, but Lizmark saves his life by dropkicking him out. Lizmark waves in Marco, and is all ready for him this time with chops and kicks. Whip, head down too soon, and Marco kicks it. Lizmark chop, Marco punch works stronger. Lizmark misses his punch, Marco clothesline him out, and follows with the apron clothesline. Atlantis and Místico in, can Atlantis pull this out again? He doesn't like his odd. Whip, Místico back, headscissors lower than the head. Místico wristlock, run up the ropes and twisting armdrag off. Atlantis rolls out, Místico not wasting time – that's how you do a tope! Atlantis is DONE. Dos and Ultimo in, much to UG's horror. Dos goes to climb the ropes to pose again, and UG just hits him. I think he's just as kick of it. Chop. Whip, Dos does the thru the ropes fakeout, UG miss a clothesline, Dos kicks him in the midsection, press – and UG steals his mask. Dos falls down to cover, UG falling on top of him. Refs were checking on Místico and missed it, and can't see Dos' mask now – 123

UG celebrates with the mask, which at least shows what happened. Marco gets the mask back, but not the win. A woman with a bag dog in the front row is as interesting as this feud. Dos challenges for a title match based on his repeatedly losses (challenging the way UG wins, I guess.) I like how Dos kinda says he wants to do it for these fans in Arena Coliseo, when they won't be there next week. UG points out he's the champ. If Dos can beat him in a one on one match, then he could get a title shot.
