Match 1: Princesa Blanca vs Marcela for the Mexican National Women's Championship
Arena Mexico, 01/31/09

  1. Marcela mecedora (1:31 seen)
  2. Blanca small package (1:17)
  3. Blanca reversed cradle (6:32)

Winner: Princesa Blanca, new champion
Match Time: 9:20
Approx Rating: Much better than I expected, though the super screwy ending.
Other Match Notes: Due to taping problem, this is joined in progress early in the first fall

1: Marcela cradles Blanca for one, but the real idea is to get in a headlock on the kickout. Blanca out to an armbar, but Marcela aggressively armdrags that out and sends Blanca to the floor. Marcela waits for Blanca to get back in, and Blanca taunts the crowd before trying. Blanca missiles a clothesline, and Marcela backslides her, one two no. Blanca sidesteps a dropkick and stomps Marcela while she's down. Whip, clothesline misses, Marcela stops with a shoulderblock to her, and uses the ropes for a big headscissors. Kick, Falcon arrow. I think she might be done, but Marcela doesn't – dropkick to the head, one two no – guess Marcela was right. Camel clutch - no, a mecedora! That's a win. Marcela is a virtuoso.

2: Marcela misses a dropkick at the whistle and gets dropkicked down, so that's no good. Blanca stomps her hard in the ruda corner. Why do they leave title belt on the apron during the match? That can't end well. Blanca works over Marcela in the corner, in between random crowd shots. Announcers talk about Mima being Blanca's corner person a lot, as if it's foreshadowing something. Corner whip, reversed, Blanca stops short and Marcela dropkicks her down in the corner. Marcel backs up, charges, and gets flipped to the apron. Marcela is able to kick Blanca away from there. All the way up top – flying headscissors looks great. Blanca misses a boot, Marcela does not miss her kick. Torture rack into a gutbuster. How is Marcela possibly going to lose this? Figure four, and Blanca small packages her – one two three. Oh, that's how. My bad.

3: Standoff. Blanca chest slaps Blanca hard. Back the other way. Blanca again. Marcela hits harder. So Blanca just boots her down. Blanca goes for power over aim on her stomps. Blanca forces her to the corner, and an elbows her on top of the head. Corner whip, Blanca spends time taunting the crowd and not watching Marcela hop to the top rope – missile dropkick! Blanca goes out, and Marcela follows with a tope con giro to the floor. Mima checks on Princesa Blanca, a bit closer than is actually allowed. Lady Apache yells at her and checks on Marcela. Plenty of time for replays. Marcela gets in first, but does not sit on her knees - smart. Blanca's cut off as he gets on the apron, but locks the turnbuckle smash and knocks Marcela away. Missile dropkick, huge sell by Marcela. One two NO. Blanca slow up and crawling to her corner. One shot of Lady Apache (Hair looking good) and Marcela has her on his stomach and goes for it – tapatia takes a lot of strength to get up, but works – Marcela lanes it back and broth are down, one two NO. Marcela kicks Blanca in the back. Whip, reverse, hiptoss reversed, hiptoss reversed the other way, Blanca kicks her and spins her by her, Marcela flying across the ring. Once more, and Marcela gets totally spun again. Blanca covers, one two NO. I totally could've believed Blanca winning on a hair pull, though that would seem like an illegal way to win. By the way, you know how I've been wondering if Marcela was awesome enough to make this a good match? She's totally on pace, it's unbelievable. Blanca kicks Marcela and lifts her up on her shoulders – F5! One two NO. Blanca and Marcela both stumble to their feet, Blanca striking first with a chop. Pumphandle, lifting Marcela up on to her shoulder, running and dropping her between her legs for a powerbomb, one two NO. Since when does Blanca have all this offense? Blanca up first again – telegraphed clothesline kinda sort hits Marcela just stands there not actually falling down. Awkward! Blanca improvises to a powerbomb, Marcela slips out, double underhook backbreaker. Marcela getting some revenge, Blanca whipped around by her hair. I hope Marcela has a better idea than that – going outside, climbing up – no, Mima pulls her to the floor! Ref totally missed it, but the guys representing the commission did not. As that's replayed, Marcela comes back in and is grabbed by Blanca. Lady Apache comes into argue this sillyness. while the match goes on. Rafa el Maya is missing the action – corner whip for Marcela, she counts with a corner sunset flip, Blanca re-reveres it towards the corner and grabs Mima's hands for added leverage. The commission officer is standing right next to her and pointing out it, but Maya heroically ignores the rudo interference and counts the pin – one two three! New champ.

The commission rep wants to kick Mima out, and she can't believe it. Not that it matters now, her girl won. Blanca get the belt while taunting Marcela. I'm thinking this still isn't over. Replays.

Move: Caballo!

Match 2: Ultimo Guerrero (c), Black Warrior, Negro Casas vs Blue Panther (c), Hector Garza, Dos Caras Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 02/02/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:42
Approx Rating: not much before the lame finish.
Other Match Notes: Hector's wearing a red shirt and red pants and looks very odd. Panther points out that he's teaming with UG & Warrior, but they're opponents this time. Negro is wearing a jeans jacket straight out of 1986. Dos decides to charge UG as he enters and gets kicked down. Yet another bad decision made by Dos Caras Jr.! UG is not only saying he's otra nivel, even his graphic has him pointing it out nowadays.

1: Rudo brawling beatdown, with Negro taking Panther and Warrior fighting Red Man. Ultimo goes after Dos' mask, of course. Warrior bites Garza's boot for an extended period. He sure is hungry lately. Dos is dropped right in front of the UG fans, so UG can spend some time with them. Negro and Warrior wrap up Panther, Warrior getting in a drop toe hold and Negro adding the casita. Warrior uses a good old Rosa to finish Hector, and that's it. UG holds Dos out of the way, pulling off his mask enough that Dos has to put a hand on his face

Trivia Question: Who's the shortest wrestler in CMLL? Monito.

2: Huddle dance. Rudos still in control, even though they're a bit lax letting Panther get in shots at people. Panther's taken the Satanico role of old guy who won't go down to your punches so easily. The best part of this beatdown is Warrior ignoring everyone and happily strutting along. Negro bites Garza on the backside. Why does Garza keep doing that spot? Don't answer that. Garza whipped to the corner, UG in after, Garza backdrops him and elbows him. Garza ducks under Negro and Warrior's double clothesline, and Dos gets them both with a double clothesline of his own, plus a corner enziguri on UG. Garza and Panther brawl in the ring while Dos takes UG outside. Garza blows a bodyscissors cradle on Negro and they don't do their best to hide it. Dos suplexes UG on the ramp, and the tecnicos have wrapped up things inside the ring. Dos goes after UG's mask in between falls.

Trivia Question: What was the first mask match? Maybe I screwed that up, but they have Santo/Shadow for the answer.

Random Heavy Metal promo too.

3: Garza and Negro start, with Negro slapping Garza in the face and Garza shoving him away. Negro chops him around, but Garza gives him the stop sing to take off his shirt. Chop, Negro just chops him some more, and Garza realizes maybe he should get his shirt out. Negro eventually gets distracted trying to kicks the shirt away, and this allows Garza to kick him down. Garza turns to throw the shirt down, and Warrior back elbows him down. Warrior whip, Garza misses a clothesline, under, rolling over (?) - well, he slipped and fell anyway. Warrior lays Garza out with a wheel kick. This is not a good Hector Garza day. On the other hand, Warrior is pulling the rope. Warrior charges Garza at the ropes, Garza backdrops him to the apron and chops him there, but then decides to go thru the ropes and gets kicked down to the floor. UG in, so Garza tags to Dos. UG off the ropes, over, and out of there! He's got better thing to do. Panther tags in to deal with Warrior. Lots of chops. Corner whip ,Warrior charge in and no one's home, nice armdrag by Panther, and straight to the armbar. Negro comes in, stomps that, and leaves. Warrior waves Negro back in to help grab panther, who kips up repeatedly. Rudos mange to send him to the ropes but put their heads down too soon. Negro gets kneed, Warrior kicks Panther in the corner and charges, Panther drops down and Warrior take the knee bump in. Panther taunts UG to come in, and immediately takes in Dos. UG turns the other away and runs, but has no one to come in, so he just watches Dos pose for a bit. Crowd is loud behind Dos. UG off the ropes, over, and knocking down Dos with a back elbow. Dos' mask is very loose. Rudo fans hoot for UG. Whip, back elbow misses, punch misses, UG tries a back suplex, but Dos flips out of that, off the ropes, spinning headscissors. Crowd's quited down and, rudo boos can be heard. Dos doesn't follow UG out just backing off was Warrior comes in. Guess he's staying. No, tag to UG back in. That was odd. Dos stops to pose, UG charge as he turns around, and runs right into a spinning backbreaker. As UG gets up, Dos stutter step chases him around and throws a superkick – that kinda sorta hits the ref (but the angle exposes it mostly, if not totally, missing – setup and spot looked poor.) The one live ref checks on the dead one, so UG yanks Dos' mask, cradles him, and the live ref – Pompin - turns around to counter, one two three. That's it.

UG decides to keep Dos' mask and walk off with it. Dos get a towel around his head, and chases after the rudos. They show the same shot of the kick on the replay, in slow motion, so you can see it not at all hit and Maya reacts late. The announcers kinda laugh about it. And that's the show.
