CMLL FSE GdR - 10/26/08 (#116)
Recap: 10/30/08

Match 1: Satanico (c), Euforia, Nosferatu vs Sombra, Hijo de Fantasma, La Mascara (c)
Arena Coliseo, 10/19/08

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 9:05
Approx Rating: Above average.
Other Match Notes: Fantasma does the promo for his team. Mascara is wearing another shirt with the same message on it. Why are long sleeve tight shirts "in" this season? It still looks dumb. Oops, missed Satanico's promo while ranting. Why is Mascara in charge? I'm not betting on the tecnicos now.

1: joined in midbeatdown. Fantasma shows some hart, taking down Euforia before the other two can peel him off, and even then takes some work. Euforia's red mask with black band looks very odd. Very lucha, but every odd. Nosferatu powerbomb, Satanico and Euforia grab an arm and a leg, and Nosferatu poses on top of Fantasma for the pin. Sombra in, double back elbow, lifted up, and a three man version of the Infernal stretch. That's lethal.

2: Beatdown continues. Fantasma showing heart again, taking down Euforia once more until he's stopped by powerful toe holds from the other two. Satanico goes after his mask for being annoying. Mascara complains from the apron, but is he actually going to anything? Hey, he does, breaking it up just enough to allow Fantasma to get free. But Fantasma and Mascara have untied masks, which surely can not end well. Mascara's beat up some too. A fair bit of holding and trashing talking here. While, Mascara rolls under a clothesline and pops up with a dropkick for Nosferatu. Euforia and Satanico on Mascara, whip, clotheslines misses again and Mascara gets Nosferatu with a tope. Fantasma with with a plancha on Euforia, and a back suplex for Satanico! That man is 59 years old! Cross armbreaker for the submission, while Sombra gets Euforia with a springboard 'rana. One two three.

3: Euforia and Mascara start, Mascara catching a kick and tripping Euforia up. He gets off the ropes once before Nosferatu comes into interference, but Mascara handles them both easily. Headscissors for Euforia, Nosferatu misses a senton, double clothesline misses (they need to work on those!), head down too soon, Euforia gets kicked in the head, Nosferatu gets superkicked. Satánico rushes in, but can not withstand the amazing force of Mascara's rolling dropkicking. He can, however, complaint that he was fouled. He almost gets the call too, but gives up on it when La Mascara stops the rudo referee from calling for the whistle. Sombra and Nosferatu - hey, we don't need to see how the dropkick hit Satanico in the chest right now. Back live, Sombra misses a clothesline he tried to hit, but doesn't miss the clothesline Nosferatu tried. Nosferatu holds him for Satanico to slap, but Satanico poses a little too much before going for seconds, and Sombra is able to leap up and grab them in a headscissors/headlock takeover. Infernales kinda charge, Satanico and Sombra kinda ducks at each other (Sombra thinking backdrop?) and Satanico pretends to get hit and just keeps on going out of the ring. Shoulderblock for Nosferatu, whip, reversed, Sombra up and armdragging. Euforia in and chest slapping Sombra down. Euforia mocks the Sombra chant, then gets back to work. Chop is caught, Sombra gets his own, wristlock, up the ropes, onto the shoulder, and a 'ran sends Euforia out. Follows with what's essentially a handstand over the ropes onto Euforia, into an armdrag for good measure. That was not your usual flip, for sure. Tags to Fantasma and Nosferatu, though crowd keeps chanting for Sombra for a second. They have a discussion about who's father was better, I think, and it turns into a posing contest from there. Nosferatu waits for Fantasma to pose, and punches him down. A smart man! Headlock shot off, shoulderblock. Whip, Nosferatu goes over (a skip that would do Maximo proud), Fantasma hiptoss is blocked, and Nosferatu gets one his own. Nosferatu charges Fantasma downed in the corner, Fantasma is able to move out of the way. Fantasma charges, Nosferatu puts him up top. Nosferatu tries to follow with a slap, but Fantasma kicks him away and headscissors him off. Euforia runs in with a senton, but that misses too. Fantasma gets him with a headscissors into a bodyscissors armdrag. Satanico in, Fantasma hops over a sweep attempt (*), off the ropes, waved by, waved, by, Fantasma throws a spinning kick but Satanico's grabbed the ropes. Satanico is proud of himself, until Satanico takes an enziguri. Fantasma limps to the corner - limps, because after all the crazy jumping he did, he came down wrong on the short hip he did over that sweep, and seems to have hurt his right ankle. Sombra in, and dropkicking Euforia. Corner whip, reversed, Euforia charges in, and spears the post at a slow speed. That wad odd. Nosferatu charges, but Sombra quickly lifts him on his shoulders (! - Nosferatu is looking big), dumps him near the corner, and heads up. Nosferatu recovers quick, and trips Sombra in the corner. Nosferatu goes up to join him, but Fantasma rushes over to dropkick him out. Fantasma goes back to the far corner to ready himself for something - thru the corner tope on Euforia (as Sombra moonsault Nosferatu), but he gets little behind the jump and hits the ropes on the way thru, landing hard. Captains left, and Mascara quickly gets the bodyscissors cradle into the campana.

Sombra's limping himself, but quickly in and thru the ring to check on Fantasma. As the doctors and the stretcher crew belatedly come over, Sombra unties his boots, then tells the crowd to chant for his teammate. That's nice of him. Meanwhile, Euforia's down a foot away and it doesn't' appear anyone's paying attention to him. (But he does get up, so that's good.) Replays.

Match 2: Villano IV, Villano V (c), Terrible vs Blue Panther (c), LA Park, Volador Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 10/19/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:22
Approx Rating: Better than I expected, all for the tecnicos.
Other Match Notes: Blue Panther and Villano V promos before the rudos come out, because they're coming out to early to beat the tecnicos. Seeing Blue Panther's new lineup photo, unmasked, makes me sad.

1: Villanos just brawl, and it's not as though Terrible is going to do something different, so that's what we have here. It takes three people to post Park. The powerslam on Volador is nice, and V5 seems to make a point of using the Panther killer cradle on Volador for a pin. Panther is held and worked over for a bit because they're waiting for Parka to come in. Park finally comes in, but Terrible doesn't do much to him until Panther's already bored enough of the double armbar he's in to give up. No legal submission win for you, Terrible.

2: Beatdown continues. V4 and Terrible are pulled out after a minute, and Panther gets his comeback on V5 with a lot of kicks to the back. Panther and Terrible brawl for a bit, then it breaks down to all the tecnicos going thru the Terrible and V4, and triple teaming V5. TRIPLE TOPE. Didn't see that one coming in this match. Refs are serious about the count, so Panther hustles Park and Volador back in the ring, then crawls in himself for the the CO win.

3:  Crowd behind Panther, so V5 wants no piece of him. The crowd eventually goads into him, but V5 does one run of the ropes and rolls out. Terrible works over Panther with chops, and Parka attacks Terrible form behind with his belt to help Panther get control. Villanos stomp down Panther and opportunities moment, V5 saying in to deal with him. That's not so hot. Neither is V4/Panther. Volador makes a save on a sunset flip, but Terrible jumps him in turn. When Terrible has to be the worker of the tam, things are going wrong. Terrible gets a near fall on a head crusher, but Parka breaks that up. Terrible kicks Park as he gets Volador to safety, but misses on a dropkick and takes a back cracker. V4 comes into take care of him, as Volador continues to loiter in the ring. Park gets worked over a second, but ends up with an elbow drop to take care of him. Volador finally goes to the corner as Parka battles V5, V5 getting control with a discus clothesline of all things. Park tags out to Panther, who takes down his rival, then gets him in a double armbar. Rudos break that up and kick him out. Volador and Uncle miss dropkicks, rudos whip them into each other, and Volador goes down. Volador's whipped into Park in the corner, Park puts him on the ropes, fights off the charging rudos, and Volador gets Terrible with a second rope headscissors. V55 misses a senton, Park dropkicks him out. Volador charges Terrible, and connects on a nice tope con giro. Parka gets V4 with a tope, though a bad camera switch causes most of the dive to be misses. Captains left in. V5 gets the edge with a back elbow, one two no. V5 chest slaps him. Whip, Panther sneak under a clothesline, inside cradle, one no. Panther and V5 face to face. V5 with a chest slap, Panther takes a step back, charges, bad 'rana is powerbombed anyway, one two no. Rowdy part of the crowd is into this, but not much else. It's quieter than you'd expect for the two guys who just main evented the anniversary show. V5 charges Panther and gets backdrop to the apron, then gently knocked to the floor. Panther TOPE, head on with V5. Other four in the ring, Rudos tripped down, dropkick to the head for V5, dragon screw for Terrible, Bodyscissors on one, 'rana one the other, and that's the fall.

Lot of time killing of watching guys walk around the ring. They're still not close to the hour, so they interview Park as well. He makes sure to talk about Wagner in there, including the catchphrase. They try to build something with Terrible, but Park calls Terrible stupid and goes back to Dr. Wagner. There's a man who knows his money. Replays. Empty ring. More replays and they're done. There was about 6 minutes from the end of the match to the end of the show. That's quite something.
