CMLL FSE GdR - 12/09/07 (#37)
Recapped: 12/18/07
Intro: pre-taped by Sagrado and Ephesto (which lasts 3 seconds)
Outside the ring: Mini Pierroth
Match 1: Euforia, Mr. Mexico (c), Nosferatu vs Leono
(c), Mascara Purpura, Stuka Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 11/11/07
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 6:07
Approx Rating: Nothing match. Would have made for about :30 of good
highlights.
Other Match Notes:
1: Joined in progress, with the rudos working over the tecnicos. Mr. Mexico appears to be aware he's feuding with Leono, which is a positive sign for this feud. Nosferatu and Euforia have new gear which much more flame action. Leono get tossed around by his hair a lot. Mr. Mexico directs the beatdown on Leono for an extended period, and it's not as fun as most New Infernales stuff. It also keeps going and going and going for no particular reason. Stuka and Purpura come in, but get kicked out. Ah, they're setting up a comeback - Leono evades a corner charge, Nosferatu kicks the post, and Euforia mis-kicked Mr. Mexico out of the ring next. Leono follow his rival with a tornillo pescado, and the other tecnicos pick up the fall. Purpura lands the SSP clean! Front row fans have nearly identical signs for each tecnico. I guess they used the same stencil.
2: Nosferatu is already working over Purpura as we rejoin, but that doesn't last long. Top rope headscissors sends Nosferatu out, and Purpura poses rather than dive. I believe the announcers are talk about how Purpura not only knows Spanish, but he's fluent in English. Euforia and Stuka are next. Stuka has a nice springboard moonsault armdrag in here, then sets up both Infernales for a Purpura springboard dropkick. Purpura boots his partner into a tope con giro on Euforia, and then flies off screen as part of a gorgeous looking tope con giro of his own. Mr. Mexico and Leono are the only guys left standing, Leono gets flipped to the apron, shoulder from there, springboard into a - low blow. That was not HBK superkicking Shelton Benjamin, but it was fine enough. Referees easily saw that and call the DQ.
They do get a replay of Purpura's dive, though one just at impact and another from a far away angle. They weren't ready for it, because Purpura did it so quick.
El Arte del Catch
Match 2: Averno (c), Ephesto, Mephisto vs La
Mascara, Sagrado, Ultimo Dragon (c)
Arena Coliseo, 11/11/07
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:38
Approx Rating: The motions. They went thru them. I tried to match that
level.
Other Match Notes: Dubbed entrances. Mascara does the promo for his
team. Despite the Triad of Terror being a Triad and all, they get separate
entrances. Mephisto & Averno do the promo for their side.
1: Dragon and Ephesto get the long opening segment. Sagrado looks good against Mephisto. Averno gets an Averno chant before locking up with La Mascara. Mascara is still referred to as an ex-national welterweight champion - he's really done nothing for a complete year. Averno sis sent out after a spinning armdrags, Mephisto kicks Mascara out, Sagrado springboard armdrags Mephisto out and follows him with a tope. Mascara comes in at the time for a tope the other direction Averno. Ephesto and Dragon are left in, Dragon gets the 'rana, but Ephesto rolls thru and gets the clean three. It's a first fall finish, but it's still kinda surprising.
El Diseno: Princesa Sujei
2: The rudos have apparently decided to start a beatdown during the break. Lots of brawling and mask ripping. Unless we're having three two-fall matches, I think this beatdown is pretty ill-fated to begin with, and I wonder if it would've been better to do a straight fall here and a beatdown fall to close (so there's some drama in it), rather than what we're getting here. Dragon getting worked over by kicks and punches in the ring is comically bad, as the camera work exposes how just about every shot doesn't actually come close to hitting. It starts that way with Sagrado too, and I start to wonder if this is some sort of post-modern deconstruction bit, where they they try to simulate wrestling match without ever making contact with each other. Would that be mime? I think you can touch each other in mime. I'm ignoring the beatdown because it's the same stuff you've seen with Averno & Mephisto many times prior. I find Ephesto's tights - which sort of matches Averno & Mephisto's but doesn't exactly - very symbolic. They circle around back to Dragon (I've completely skipped La Mascara getting worked over), but he stays in as short as possible. Mascara back in, Mascara out after a triple boot. Rudos do at triple dive fake and pose, which is the only noteworthy part of this match. Of course, this leads to Sagrado sneaking in with a springboard dropkick to start the comeback. Everyone gets in moves on Averno, Sagrado gives him a Michinoku Driver and finishes with a springboard moonsault. Rudos come in the ring one by one to feed themselves to the tecnicos so they can get their stuff in. EH.
El Art de Catch
3: Sagrado gets showcased first, with a double jump double armdrags on the two who aren't Averno. Mascara gets in his usual stuff, even the rolling dropkick. Mephisto ends up taking a backbreaker on the floor. Ultimo Dragon does the Ultimo Dragon match stuff. Ephesto ends up on the apron, tries a slingshot for no reason, and gets dropkicked to the floor. Dragon teases the Asai Moonsault before landing it. The other four all end up in the ring, Rudos end up shoved into each other, but sidestep the boosted dropkick and kill the young tecnicos with Devil's Wings.
That's it.
