CMLL Mini Line - 09/04/04 (#146)
Typed: 09/25/04

Welcome To The Show Vignette: Hector Garza, who invites us to watch the best lucha libre in the world.

Vignette: At the gym, Black Warrior and Rayo de Jalisco discuss getting revenge for a match we didn't actually see last week. Universo, Black Tiger and Dr. Wagner are a tough trio - they're champs, even. Rayo still wants the mask/mask match with Universo, and Canek wants the same with Dr. Wagner. Tiger and Warrior aren't exactly friends either.

Match 1: Dr. Wagner Jr. (c), Black Tiger, Universo 2000 vs Canek (c), Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Black Warrior
Arena Mexico, 07/02/04

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 7:14
Approx Rating: 73

Other Match Notes: Wagner carries his CMLL Trios Title to the ring, but wears the UWA (Canek) Heavyweight Title belt. He won it back on 145 in a match that wasn't shown. Tiger wears his Trio belt as well. Universo, uh, doesn't. Someone didn't get the memo. Of all the possible combos, it's Tiger we see rushing Warrior to get this started.

Beatdown. Crowd shot may have clipped some of it. Universo gets a good third of Rayo's mask off. Tiger uses a front facelock on the second rope forever and no one tells him to get off the ropes. Wagner's got a good third of Canek's mask off. Universo finishes off Rayo with a spinebuster and a half crab. (1:35) Tiger finally hits the spinning DDT he's been setting up when he sees Wagner is going to finish it on Canek with a sharpshooter. Yea, that's it. (2:01) Tiger adds his second rope moonsault and gets a three count for no particular reason. One sided and quick. Break.

Back in time for the second fall, with the rudos still in control. We - the wrestlers, the announcers, ME - are all kinda in auto pilot here until the comeback or something cool happens. Wagner can Canek take a tour of the stands. Wagner picks up a row of two seats - is he going to throw them on Canek? Semi-gently (they are big plastic chairs with metal connectors, anyway), yes. Beatdown goes on. People switch partners a bit. Wagner does a strut. Wagner and Universo double headbutt Canek. For whatever reason, Tiger lets Warrior run down the ramp towards the ring and tosses him in the ring. Given the boost, Warrior has no problems clotheslining the other rudos and the comeback is on. Neat spot which made no sense. Tiger misses a clothesline and sends himself to the floor, which leaves him in line for Warrior. Warrior's tope takes him thru and past Tiger, actually landing him farther and harder in to the seats. The other tecnicos are going for mask revenge, of course. Warrior gets helped out of the seats by the fans, but looks to be hurting. The action in the ring is muddy, but the tecnicos eventually hit side slams; Canek makes a point of show casing how he can hold up his for longer, so Rayo kills time with a legdrop. Double pins. (2:51) Warrior goes for team unity by chasing Tiger into the ring and ripping at Tiger's mask as well. Replays.

Tecnicos still doing the counter beatdown as the final starts. Lots of mask pulling. Canek and Wagner have a pose off on the ramp, with Tiger trying to help and accidentally getting forearmed by his partner. Perhaps a crowd clip later, Wagner and Canek go one on one in the ring. Canek gets his counter corner charge kick in to stop Wagner, and takes them both out with a clothesline. Warrior and Tiger, who knock each other down, but Warrior is up first. Off the ropes, into a dropkick to the knee. Tiger picks him up, whips him in the corner, corner clothesline, grabbing him and landing a seated Tornado DDT. Second rope moonsault, second second rope moonsault catches knees! Tiger tries to claim it's a low blow, but doesn't get the call. Universo and Rayo rush in as the other two rest, and Rayo takes control with a tope. Rayo with the reverse tope on Universo, falling on top the cover one two three. (2:15) Everyone in now, Canek press slamming Wagner, and Warrior giving Tiger a DDT and the Rings of Warrior to get that fall. (2:22) Canek adds an elbow drop and gets a three count over Wagner, although technically it wouldn't seem to count. I think he's happy with it anyway. Champions lose, and pretty decidedly to end it. While we replays, I believe the title match challenge is thrown out and accepted.

Stellar Moments

Vignette: Just in case you thought things were only bumpy for the tecnicos, Tarzan Boy and Pierroth have an animated discussion. Sounds like Pierroth (who thought he was calling the shots, as always), wasn't informed about Vampiro's injury and doesn't like Hector Garza nor wants to be allied with him. The word Regios (regal?) is said a lot. Ooooh, he's tapping Tarzan with a ruler. Ooooh, Tarzan knocks stuff of Pierroth's desk, They loudly agree not to get along.

Match 2: Pierroth (c), Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy (w/Vampiro) vs Shocker (c), El Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Negro Casas
Arena Mexico, 07/02/04

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Match Time: 78
Approx Rating: 10:22
Winner: Tecnicos

Other Match Notes: Pierroth's is wearing a gas mask. Looks more sophisticated than Veneno's. Tarzan's song of the week has people singing the guitar parts for the open. How weird. This week we again get Vampiro's music, and this time it's actually for Vampiro, limping out on crutches and also having words with Pierroth. I'd be scared of a face turn if it was anyone but Pierroth. Vampiro shaved his head since we last saw him. Vampiro's good with both Garza and Terrible. Shocker has new wacky music. This is as close we're getting to the rematch of the cage match for a while, apparently. Fans are on Perro as he enters, though not loud enough to really get over his music. Perro and Casas have a standoff on the stage. This really isn't going to work. Shocker tries to make peace.

Pierroth attacks Shocker and we're on. Again, Garza ignored Perro to go after some else (Shocker), while Tarzan Boy has no problems going after Perro this week. I guess they didn't get along as well as it seemed last week. Beatdown. Waiting for something not worthy to happen. Shocker battles back on Hector while Tarzan and Pierroth are busying themselves with Negro, but he comes back with a blatant low blow uppercut he somehow manages politic into being a shot to the thigh. Perro disappears for a lot of the beatdown, only stalking around the outside while his partners are being beat. What's with the police siren? Nazi ends up giving Perro a testicular claw, I think. That's not too fun. Pierroth of course has no problem beating down Perro. Shocker gets a double spinebuster and a double crab from the other two, and he's done. (2:50) Not too much here. Perro goes after Nazi between falls, and ends up getting a low blow kick.

Hace Unos Dias: Hector Garza debuted, did the tornillo, won.

I think Pierroth is having some fun with the announcers, but we only get to hear the announcers reacting to him. He brings Perro in the ring as the between fall beatdown continues. Replays of the last fall. Finally time to start second fall, where the beatdown continues. Pierroth has Perro into beat, but Garza tells him to stop, which doesn't please Pierroth. Perro and Casas have words while Tarza nand Pierroth have words, but the rudos seem to getting along better. Pierroth goes after Perro again when he poses, and Hector redirects him to Negro instead. Everyone here can agree to beat up Negro Casas - in fact, while Tarzan and Pierroth hold Casas in the corner, Hector offers a free shot to Perro! Apparently, he doesn't go for it, so Garza kicks Negro hard in the midsection instead. More beatdown on Casas, but Shocker sneaks in the ring and starts clearing the ring. It's mostly Casas and Shocker on the tecnico beatdown, with Perro hanging out with the crowd. Casas holds Tarzan for shots from Que Monito, while Perro slips into to beat up Pierroth when Shocker's done with him. Perro decides to pose on the turnbuckles in the middle of punching Pierroth, and Pierroth easily attacks him. Leads to Pierroth getting dropkicked to the head, but it was smart. Perro lands the running Thesz press on Pierroth, who must wonder if he's allowed to fight back. Garza and Shocker going at it in the ring in the meantime, Garza getting the early advantage, signals being crossed, and Garza staying in control by stomping Shocker as he went for a monkey flip. Is Shocker bleeding? Shocker finally gets the armdrag he's been looking for and Garza begs off. Yea, Shocker's got a cut open on his forehead, but it's not really much. Shocker ducks a clothesline, bodyscissors cradle, and out into Indian Deathlock with armbar. Will Garza give? II guess so, (3:55) though camerawork doesn't really show it. Meanwhile, Casas sets up Tarzan Boy with a kneebreaker, but when he goes for the La Majistral, Perro's already scooped the pin away from him. (4:00) Perro's pretty happy with himself, and then goes towards the rowdy fan section to stare at them for yelling at him. Meanwhile, Pierroth wants to know what's going on and who's on his side. Crowd is solidly on Negro's side, if that means anything. Replays.

Everyone's still discussing as the fall starts. Perro's ready to go - wait, Garza's in the ring aging. Crowd wants to see this - CLIP. Nice one.

Shocker and Pierroth now. Lots of chops. Pierroth eventually misses a corner charge, and takes kicks. Shocker tries to tag Perro in, but Perro doesn't feel like coming in. Eventually, he agrees. Perro battles for abdominal stretch, and Pierroth's escape takes them both out of the ring. Meanwhile, Tarzan grabs a hold of Shocker, and holds him for Garza to get free shots. Shocker spits back at him. Garza backs up for a clothesline, but Shocker ducks and Tarzan is out. That leaves Shocker and Garza in the ring. Looks like Negro is standing outside, if you were wondering what happened to him like I was. Shocker strikes for with a big boot, but gets tripped and pulled out by Tarzan and La Nazi. Garza makes a big show of going to the apron and the corner - moonsault to the floor hits Tarzan only! Nice looking moonsault, though. Shocker goes back in, with the express purpose of going back out - TOPE. Perro and Pierroth in the ring, Perro taking down Pierroth, then calling for the stomp. Going up top - and Casas trips him up, before giving Pierroth a running (let's pretend) stomp of his own. One two three. (3:32) Now they're really not going to be friends. Negro wisely goes up the ramp, but Perro picks the mesh parts of the ramp and threatens him with it. Doesn't look like anything's going to come of it. Casas pretends he'll go back in the ring to take Perro, and then just walks out.

Next Week: Rayo de Jalisco, Hector Garza, Okumura, Terrible, Universo 2000, Hijo del Perro Aguayo, Black Warrior, Mr. Niebla, Canek, Pierroth, Dr. Wagner, and many more stars.

Replays of things going wrong for Hector Garza and El Hijo Del Perro Aguayo, and right for Shocker and Negro Casas.

A small five minute over run on this episode, but otherwise pretty standard.
