CMLL Mini Line - 08/14/04 (#142)
Welcome To The Show Vignette: Shocker (1000% Guapo)
Vignette: Dr. Wagner talks about how awesome it was to crack the plaque over Canek's head. HIS HOUSE. MUST PROTECT THIS HOUSE.
Match 1: Dr. Wagner Jr. (c), Averno, Mephisto vs
Atlantis, Satanico, Canek (c)
Arena Mexico, 05/28/04
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 6:58
Approx Rating: 80. Not too exciting.
Other Match Notes: Wagner's wearing a Great Muta outfit. It looks quite like one of Black Tiger's outfits, actually. Wonder how he'd get a hold of that. The druid robes seem to be a permanent part of the outfit for Averno and Mephisto. Entrances are sped up today; they're cutting off the music by the time they get midway down the aisle to get the next person down. And after I type that, they don't do it for Satanico. Wagner and Canek meet on the ramp, but it's Canek who gets the better of it. Canek brings the fight to the ring, where the other four start going after it, and surprisingly the tecnicos stay in control.
While Atlantis and Satanico prevent his partners from getting involved, Canek rips Wagner's mask. He doesn't get it off, but he dos give Wagner a DDT. Averno and Mephisto aren't eager to come in, but Averno does when only one tecnico is waiting for them. Of course, it happens to be Satanico. Strike battle is won by Satanico, who adds a whip and a back elbow. Averno thrown around by his mask. Looks like he's got Fuerza-like dreads sticking out of the back of his mask. Averno is set to the floor, and Mephisto doesn't want to come. Actually, Averno comes back in first, but a clothesline is ducked and he's kicked in the gut. Satanico goes for the abdominal stretch while Atlantis takes care of Mephisto with a cross body. Bodyscissors rollup one two three. (1:10) I guess Averno gave up at the same time, because the fall ends there. Wagner thought about breaking up the pinfall, but saw Canek coming for him and backed off. He's still backing off after the fall. Announcers are calling Averno and Mephisto 'the Ingrates' like it's their name - it's probably not, but it's easier than typing Averno and Mephisto repeatedly. Break.
Before the second fall can get started, Averno and Mephisto are helpful holding Wagner back from the beating he so richly wants to give Canek. Since we've got some time, Hace Unos Dias: plaque, head. To lend a new perspective on these events, lets watch them in filmstrip vision - very red, and herky jerky. Present Day Wagner's is yelling at the rabid fans in the meantime.
There's the whistle, ready to go. Canek and Wagner to start - Wagner's eye hole got enlarged, but not that bad. May just be the way it's laying on him right now, though. Circle. Wagner pumped, and kicking Canek in the leg. Chop. Whip, reversed, into a short clothesline. Eh. Whip, reverse, head down too soon and Canek throws him down on the back of it. Scoop, slam. Canek going up? Taking his time, but hitting a plancha and landing on top one two Wagner sorts kicks out and Canek sorta stops covering. Canek calls for the press slam - and gets attacked from behind by the Ingrates. Next time, don't call ahead. Team AM clears the tecnicos off the apron, then get to kicking Canek. Wagner stops, and observes the destruction around him before trying for some of his own - ah, going for the mask. Averno and Mephisto hold Canek down as Wagner pulls the top of Canek's eye hole so far back, it's on the back of his head. Face bite! Canek wisely uses the opportunity to grab at Wagner's mask, which gets Wagner to stop. So does the pro Canek chanting. Look at the crowd. Back in action, double whip for Canek, double AM elbow drop, Mep does the camel clutch to set up Wagner's running running running dropkick to the head. Are the other tecnicos talking to the announcers? Someone is. Canek is stomped out of the ring, and Satanico takes his place. He's beaten down quicker than usual, and they take turns giving him a corner clotheslines. Big spinebuster from Wagner, who holds him in place for stereo top rope headbutts from AM. That's do it for him. (3:08) Atlantis in, and quickly stopped. Triple pump powerbomb, and Mephisto hold Atlantis upside down for Wagner to finish with a dropkick to the head. Everyone pose/cover. (3:17) Canek makes the mistake of getting on the apron, which causes Wagner to knock him off then, and spend the break going after him instead of taking a break. Looks like the beatdown generally goes on between falls.
Feels like the comeback is clipped - we take a far view of Satanico being worked over on the ramp, then come back with Dr. Wagner and Satanico in the ring and everyone in their corners. That doesn't last long before Canek is in, and getting the better of Wagner. Canek's back kick as someone charges in as a signature spot, I'm starting to gather. Canek takes both of hem out of the ring with a clothesline, and AM goes after Satanico in the meantime. Double whip, double back elbow. Double whip, double boot, out goes Satanico. Atlantis in and doing much better - tilt-a-whirl backbreaker for Averno, tilt-a-whirl - no, Mep lands on his feet. Kick for Atlantis, off the ropes, and backdropped to the apron. Averno tries to surprise Atlantis with a dropkick, but knocks Mep to the floor instead, and Mep is killed via Satanico apron dive senton. Back in the ring, Atlantis gives Averno a backdrop and another tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Atlantis celebrates, blocks an Averno clothesline, and hooks him in a double underhook headscissors. Meanwhile, Canek and Wagner are also in. Wagner gets backdropped and clothesline, but Averno's taking too long to give up so something' up. Canek charges at Wagner, Wagner moves and pushes Canek past, Canek collides into Baby Richard who collides into Atlantis and Averno. All those guys fall out of the ring, and Wagner uses the confusion - low blow kick. Cover! Uh oh, he's got no referee. Wagner gets the babyface ref - who was probably checking on Satanico and Averno - to come back in, and he counts, one two three. (2:31) Canek STILL can't beat Wagner.
A clip later, we see replays while Wagner talks on the microphone. Announcers talk over him, and Canek.
Stellar Moments - strangely joined in progress. Rayo de Jalisco kills himself by jumping into a dropkick. Porky hits the top rope splash on a trio of unfortunate rudo victims. Warrior Tope. Ultimo Dragoncito pins Espectrito, while Mini Olimpico beats Fire. Misterioso and Texano Jr. hit stereo sunset flip powerbombs to the floor on Loco Vikingo and someone I don't catch.
Vignette: Guapo U. Looks like a barbecue. Which is though for all those guys who don't have mouths cut out of their masks. Fabiano looks okay here. Shocker announcers the winners of the Mexican Trios Title Shot tournament are Misterioso (Jr.), Texano Jr. and El Brazo de Oro Jr. Good luck to them. Anyone, Shocker uses the barbecue as a discussion point about eating right, but Magica interrupts so they eat right now.
Match 2: Vampiro (c), Tarzan Boy, Pierroth vs Shocker (c), Perro Aguayo Jr., Negro Casas
Arena Mexico, 05/28/04
Winner: Tecnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 8:39
Approx Rating: 75
Other Match Notes: Yep, they punk out Shocker as he enters the ring. Pierroth heads up to the stairs to meet Perro as he enters, and Perro ends up eating the stairs. Negro is kind enough to hurry up and help out, but it doesn't seem to help much. Vampiro shows up to even the numbers.
Beatdown to start. Shocking. No particular intensity. Shocker is wearing tights without the usual pattern. How odd. So much activity, we go a clip of Shocker, Monito, the Guapos and Winnie The Kid on a talk show. Ah, so that vignette way back in 135 was a Mexican Variety Show thing I didn't get. I'm just glad it made sense to someone. It looks like Shocker got the best of Winnie as his goons, but then it was like 12.5 to 3 so I'd hope so. In the match, Tarzan Boy lands a missile dropkick on Negro, but accidentally gets superkicked by Vampiro. That turns it around. First fall seems long, probably isn't. Vampiro wasn't exactly in a hurry to go down on a spear, but Shocker might have jumped for it too soon. Chokeslam is reversed into a bodyscissors roll, which Vampiro escapes only to be dropkicked. Shocker adds a running boot and that does it. (4:20) Falls over, but Tarzan Boy still takes the double stomp and they count the pinfall. Whatever. Weird they did the beatdown and the comeback in the first fall, because there's still a lot of TV time seemingly left.
Settled down into a normal match to start fall two. I can't get into this match. Vampiro just wanders and attack Perro while he's beating down Pierroth. Pierroth seemed a bit confused, but overall happy. Tarzan Boy does a sequence, but we get another clip. Vampiro/Negro stuff, then Shocker/Pierroth stuff. Shocker controls that, and we're onto Shocker/Vampiro, with Shocker doing quite well there, but eating a spinning thrust kick. Shocker ends up suplexing Vampiro out (with a stop hard on the apron) a little bit later, and Vamp gets flattened by Negro's usual dive. Tarzan Boy tries to tope Shocker, but jams his knee into the ropes on the way out. He lands normally, but just doesn't quite gets the distance and comes up limping. That leaves Perro and Pierroth in the ring. Perro gets the double stomp quickly, but right in front of La Nazi, who breaks up the pin with a slap. Isn't that a DQ? Nazi celebrates (losing the match) on the apron, Perro goes after her, and Tarzan clocks Perro in the back with the small step! That's definitely a DQ - they raise Perro's arm this time. (4:19)
Perro sells it like he's dead. Live by the steps, down by the steps. While Negro and the doctor check on Perro, the rudos decide to they might as well beat up Shocker. Pierroth beats him, then Perro levels him with a side kick. Pierroth holds him for more Vampiro shots. Tarzan has a word with the doctor about something, and the walks up the ramp for no particular reason. Perro's loaded up on a stretch as Vampiro and Perro leisurely stomp Shocker. Break.
Next Week: Blue Panther, Shocker, Negro Casas, Pierroth, Mr. Niebla, Atlantis, Ultimo Guerrera, Vampiro, Rey Bucanero, and many more.
The ring girls are standing on the ramp for no reason. Pierroth trash talks Shocker while Vampiro takes apart Negro with kicks. Oh oh oh, Pierroth just said a naughty word in English and it didn't get bleeped. Pierroth throws the microphone and Shocker, so Pierroth must've been a challenge of some sort. Shocker proposes a hair/hair trios matches, and Vampiro rushes over to kick him in the head. I guess that's a no. Oh no, they're going after the mini. Negro tries to save Monito's life and gets shoved ahead. VAMPIRO KICK TO THE CHEST! Shocker and Negro cover up Monito to prevent further midget violence. Monito has to be carried to the back, how very sad. They show replays. I still don't know how a shot to the back KOs Perro, but whatever. Shocker storms the ring in revenge for his small friend, but that's it.
