Tonight’s Congress Theatre show

Last I heard, the Congress Theatre main event was still Blue Demon Jr. & Brazo de Plata vs Satacnio & Villano III. After watching his match on today’s lucha, I really would like to see Porky, but I’m sadly not going to be able to make it out there tonight.

If you do go and check it out, I’d like to know what you thought of the event, and who turned up as the undercarders.

Upcoming Congress Show

Also in Box Y Lucha’s listings:

FMLL? (SUN) 11/27 Congress Theatre Lineup [box y lucha]
1) ?
2) ?
3) Guerrerito del Futuro & Mini Charly Manson vs Gringo Loco & SWAT Kat
4) Mascara Sagrada & Discovery vs Shamu Jr. & Aguila del America
5) Blue Demon Jr. & Brazo de Plata vs Satacnio & Villano III

I’m guessing five matches. Don’t know for show. Box Y Lucha has a listing of a 5PM start, which can’t possibly be true. At Congress’ website, you can reserve free tickets, though I’d guess that doesn’t include ringside. I’ve heard a report that they won’t be selling tickets at the door, but that’s more improbable to me than the 5PM start time.

Park and Wagner were orginally scheduled, but if you can check out the lineup, you’ll see they took a booking in Torreon; Park and Black Tiger are (supposed to be) working to a mask/mask there, so even if Congress paid better now (and I don’t know that they did), Park had to take that booking for what it pays later.

Sometimes, I can’t believe people in Mexico City have a better idea of what the card is at Congress than myself, who’s no more than a hour away from the front door. Then, I think about it a little more, and I’m not that surprised.

I’ve seen Blue Demon enough times now, I think I have enough stamps on my card to get in free next time, and I’ve seen Villano IV a fair bit too – but I do want to see Porky and Satanico so if I can go, I’m probably going. I just won’t know if I’m free to go until, literally, the moment I get in the car and start driving.

10/23 Congress Show

Given I missed two matches trying to find parking and most of another waiting in line for popcorn (at that point, the only thing I’d eaten that day was peanut M&Ms, so it was a necessary sacrifice), the lucha show last night at Congress was really fun. The SWAT/Mascarita vs Mini Charly Manson/Guerrerito del Futuro was okay, but really the LA Park/Tinieblas vs Dr. Wagner/Elektro match was awesome and totally worth the ticket alone. Heck, ChicagoPD could’ve given me a ticket for illegally parking in a permit area and it would’ve been worth that ticket too. Awesome. Park and Wagner stole the show (really, they could’ve put in any two other guys instead of their AAA partners; the ref was a bigger highlight than them); Wagner was the rudo so the crowd did boo him, and it worked out great that way.

I’ll skip the full show report and leave that to, you know, someone who actually saw the whole show. Unless they were doing some sort of guerilla film making and hiding the cameras, I don’t believe this show was taped. Too bad.

I think I settled on a 1750 attendance. That’s pretty good for a show with a minimal amount of posters, maybe a show on a low power (and not on cable) TV show, mostly getting the word out mouth to mouth (maybe they did Spanish language radio ads? They’ve done them in the past but there were no signs for a station at the show.) It could’ve been higher than that, but I feel pretty safe

I think I’m Mistico and Santo away from seeing everyone currently in Mexican lucha I really really want to see. What’s the list? Rey, Ultimo, Wagner, Park, Shocker, Porky, Felino, Virus, both Misteriosos, Nicho – plus more guys I didn’t mind seeing like Demon, Pierroth, Hijo de Pierroth, Super Parka, Rey Mysterio Sr., Mil Mascaras and Universo. I keep thinking I’ve seen Negro but I can’t remember when – maybe I need to see him again to be sure.

Next show was announced as 11/27, with Halloween, Damian, Blue Demon, Mascara Sagrada, Villano III, and Super Porky. My schedule for the couple weeks around that date is up in the air, but I hope I get to go.

Upcoming ELLMEX shows

Remember how I mentioned there was a Lucha Va Voom this Friday? Let’s pretend I never said that. There was a post on the socal boards saying FMLL is coming on October 24, but I’ll believe it when I see it.

Speaking of seeing it!

09/25/05 ELLMEX poster

ELLMEX (SUN) 09/25 Las Lomas, Waukegan Lineup [poster!]
Thanks to Rob for the poster!
1) Rayo Lazer vs El Reo
2) Horoscopo vs Mascara de Jade
3) SWAT Cat & Lanza Llamas vs Yakuza & Mini Charly Manson
no, I don’t think this is the CMLL one
4) Atomo & Mascara Universal vs Halcon Oriental & Tyme Page
5) Principe Franky & Amenaza del Siglo vs el Infernal & Principe Azteca

The full address is 454 N. Green Bay Road, Waukegan, IL. Tickets are listed as $15 ($10) for kids with a 5PM start time.

I dunno if I’m going. It’s a long drive after two nights of TPI; rolling out of bed along might be a strain. Or maybe I’ll be so thrilled with wrestling I’ll have to drive 90 minutes to see more the next day.

This post says they’re also running a show THIS Sunday with Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Charlie Manson and perhaps Espectrito, but I have no cool poster.

This has nothing to do with anything, but I wish they’d put in the 355 extension already.

ELL-Mex results

ELL-MEX (SAT) 07/23 Congress Theatre Results [cw.com board]

No one took results from Sunday’s show, but I imagine they weren’t too different.

The opening lineup for next months’ card is
Lizmark, Rayo de Jalisco, La Parka vs Universo 2K, Mascara Y2K, Blue Panther
Blue Demon Jr. vs El Hijo del Santo Lizmark Jr.? Maybe?

Take your best guess at what will actually occur. Congress’s site doens’t list a show date.
