Arena Mexico, 08/14/2011
rudos
Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:24
Rating: OK
Notes: Ref is Bestia Negra. Zacarias is with the rudos
1: Ultimo Guerrero and Porky start, Porky crying in short order. UG manages a waistlock takedown on Porky, and an actually working sunset flip (solely so they can set up a bad looking roll thru dropkick spot.) Máximo quickly gets on Dragon Rojo’s nerves. Negro and Mascara circle and no more before UG attacks Mascara from behind to start the beatdown. UG holds Mascara over the middle rope, and Zacarias stands on the bottom rope to repeatedly kick him. Negro stands on Porky in the corner for a while, as UG submits Porky’s son. Double suplex finishes Porky and the fall.
2: Mascara is tossed into the ring for a Dragon Rojo missile dropkick. Porky sidesteps multiple charges and belly bumps UG out. Máximo boots Mascara into a dropkick the other two. Porky holds up his hands for a high ten, but the other guys ignore him and do their own spots. UG back in, suplex revered into Porky’s small package, one two three.
3: Corner pose off by both teams. UG and Mascara start in, Mascara evasive and then headscissors. Quebrada for Dragon Rojo and a spinning armdrag to send him out. Negro hugs Mascara low as he takes off his shirt, and Mascara Mongolian chops Negro (!) to break him loose. Negro fights back with an array of kicks, but Mascara lands the superkick. Zacarias tries his luck, and gets kicked out of the air again. Máximo in, and he goes thru the Guerreros in usual fashion. Negro gets a block everything slap to the forehead, no kiss. UG is able to knock down Porky with a shoulderblock, but it also able to throw himself into armdrags. UG knee bump out (check!) and Porky dives on him from the apron. Máximo misses the double springboard butt bump, but immediately gets Dragon with the block everything kiss. Cradle, whoever is, turned right into Dragon Rojo’s double armbar, and Negro finishes Mascara are the same time. Rudos take it.
Match 2: Volador Jr. vs Héctor Garza
Arena Mexico, 08/14/2011
Volador backcracker (2:41)
Winner: Hector Garza (2-1)
Match Time: 11:34
Rating: slow
Notes: Volador is in a sort of Capitan America outfit, with a body paint top. Ref is Edgar, I think. He looks different. No entrances, so the first shot is…
1: Volador taking Garza’s head off with a superkick! Well, then. Garza gets back up, gets superkicked again. Volador decides to cover this time, one two thr-NO. Volador throws Garza out. Stomps right in front of the first row. Volador slams Garza into the post, and comes in to wait for Hector. Hector does make the twenty count, and manages to trip up Volador and punch him a bit. Volador is confused about this. He wants a handshake. Nope, Volador kick. Whip, Garza slides out, Volador doesn’t want to go out there. He eventually decides to go, and Garza slides back in. Volador puts his head back in, and Garza kicks it. Garza quebrada, right into Volador’s feet. Volador fired up, posing waiting, and Garza backs into backcracker. One two three.
2: Volador corner whip, superkick. That’s #3. Volador sits on the second rope and contemplates. Waiting for Garza to get up. Hector does, plancha, Garza catches it, holds him for a bit, tosses Volador behind, Volador lands on his feet, there’s #4. Corner whip, Garza backflip escapes, Volador charges into a quebradora, and a second. Garza shoulderblock, moonsault bodyblock one two three. Tied up.
Highlights of the 2nd Match
Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío I, Inquisidor vs Hombre Bala Jr., Super Halcón Jr., Starman
2-1: Pompin is ref. Showcase for Super Halcón, looking better and landing a tope con giro on one of the Rayos. Other técnicos wrap things up.
2-2: Starman gives Inquisidor a quebradora on the floor, only to be caught by a Rayo II tope. Rayo I takes care of both the Gen11 guys until help arrives, and then holds up Halcón for Inquisidor jumping front cracker. Double chickenwing cristo finishes him, and the rudos try to take his mask.
2-3: Rudos in control. Bala sidesteps a corner charge to star the comeback. Bala does a bad missile dropkick, and the Gen 11 guys tope the rudos while Starman rolls. Uno and Starman left in, Starman suástica ends it.
3: Garza still has all his clothes on. That won’t last. Volador is stalling on the outside. Mask is unbuttoned, ever since hw on the first fall. Volador tries for that handshake again, but Garza waves his finger no. Volador off the ropes instead, over, flipping run, and meeting the stop sign. Pants off. We miss something Garza does with them as they shoot the crowd. Doesn’t matter much, Garza quickly is stripping off his shirt. Volador doesn’t stop this time, kicking Garza as he does. Whip, Garza slides out. I’ve seen this. Volador’s seen this. Volador is not sliding out this time. No way. Oh no, he’s walking over there. Garza jumps on the apron and shoulders him in the midsection. Slingshot roll in by Garza, Volador charges, Garza lifts him up for a martinete, Edgar break sit up, but just gives Volador the same advantage. Garza reverses it again, but turns it into a front suplex. One two NO. Volador slapped into the corner. Walked to another corner. Walked to a third corner! I can see you’re taking this seriously. Corner whip, Garza flipped to the apron, and swing kicked off. Volador slowly gains speed, rushes back and lands the tope con giro. Replays. Volador back in, charging Garza as he comes in, and being tossed right to the floor. That was poor strategy. Garza to the middle rope, outside of it, and moonsaults to the floor. Replay of that. Garza back in and posing on his knees. Volador to the apron, Garza charges into another swing kick. Volador slowly going to the corner, as Garza makes a show of playing dead every time Volador looks his way (and not being dead at other times for the fans benefit.) Garza crotches Volador on the top rope and smiles about it. Volador adjusts his legs before Garza starts climbing. Top rope ‘rana. One two no. Not the strongest cover there, almost just hovering over him. Garza unties his hair, takes his time, to the second rope, and Volador clips out his knee. Garza caught in the ropes, Volador guillotine legdrop lands. One two NO. There’s the fall graphic, now the fall can actually end. This is very slow, but the crowd is into it. Off the ropes evasion ends with a double clothesline, either man going down but both grabbing their arms. Volador tells Garza to run, then sneak runs behind him, but only ends up accidentally clotheslining the referee. Volador turns, tosses Garza, and fouls him. That’s great, but you have no ref. Volador checks on Edgar, who’s recovering well, then goes back to Garza. Garza yanks off the mask, hides the unmasked face under his leg, and covers, one two three.
