Recapped: 03/26/11

Hype video and recap of Alvarados vs Renegados.

Match 1: Dragon Lee ©, Enrique Vera Jr., Magnus vs Inquisidor, Rayo Tapatío I ©, Rayo Tapatío II
Arena Coliseo, 03/20/2011

  1. Gen2011

  2. Gen2011

Winner: Gen2011 (2-0)
Match Time: 11:17
Rating: good giving experience level of the técnico crew, though that adjustment has to be made.
Notes: Teams are announced as “CMLL” and “Generacion 2011”. Both are listed on screen as “rudos”, oddly. Referee is Pompin.

1: Magus and Inquisidor are already going when they get to the match. JCR recaps the cibernético shenanigans. Magnus eventually flips out of an armbar and armdrags out. Magnus wants to get going, but Inquisidor is in no hurry. Magnus is a little bit taller. Inquisidor throws him around with a double armdrags, but Magnus comes back with one of his own. Magnus of the ropes, hiptoss blocked and he lands his own. Inquisidor kicks him away, off the ropes, armdrag one way, armdrag the other way. They use back elbows to set up quick pins, and back off. Dragon Lee and Rayo II next, Dragon Lee too fast for Rayo at first. Rayo flips to his feet after the zero pin standoff, and Rayo shoves him. Dragon Lee shoves him back, and Rayo whines and rolls out. Hmmm. Rayo I in and backing up Dragon Lee, but Enrique Vera comes in. They battle for holds, battling strongly but getting no where. Zero trip pins for them, Enrique also flips to his feet, and they also exchange shoves. We're getting on where but angry. Inquisidor and Dragon Lee in. Inquisidor's chop is met by Dragon Lee's kick. Dragon Lee off the ropes, flipping run, Inquisidor misses a clothesline, Dragon Lee rolls over a backdrop, Inquisidor blows him up with a clothesline. Inquisidor is thrilled, high fives for everyone. Inquisidor chops Dragon Lee around. Whip, Dragon Lee waved past, back with a jumping headscissors. Inquisidor out, Dragon Lee charges, Inquisidor drops down, Dragon Lee slides out after him – and Rayo Tapatío II surprises him with a tope. Vera and Uno in, novato whipped to the corner, back with a plancha. Vera 'rana, Inquisidor runs and to break it up but gets caught by Magnus. Fireman's carry double knee gutbuster there. One two three. Rayo Tapatío II dived in to break it up, but just missed.

The fall graphic lists the Gen11 side as the técnicos and the other side as the rudos, which appears to be correct.

2: No one in a hurry to start. Enrique and Dos get going, with Vera throwing around Rayo with an armdrag and dropping a knee on his back. Headscissors, and slow turning quebradora con giro. That was supposed to be slow, I think, to show off his strength. Uno and Magnus in. Rayo Tapatío I: “BOOOOO!” He's been taking the Místico classes! Rayo misses the clothesline, Magnus back with a headscissors. Rayo I drops Magnus with a back elbow and boos again. Corner whip, Magnus climbs up the ropes and down with an armdrag. Rayo I clothesline turned into a quebradora con giro. Clothesline misses because Rayo I is rolling out. Magnus gets in a dive fake pose. Photographs uninterested! Dragon Lee and Inquisidor in. Both charge, Dragon Lee goes over and Inquisidor goes under. Dragon Lee superkick does not come within a half foot of Inquisidor's face, and down goes Inquisidor. Director captured that perfectly, if your idea if perfectly is “most exposed move ever.” Chop, Dragon Lee corner whip, Inquisidor sidesteps him and sets him up top, then pulls him down into the Tree of Woe. While Rayos keep Dragon Lee trapped, Inquisidor runs cross ring to the técnico cover, slaps Magnus, charges back towards the rudos, and lands a sliding dropkick. Rayo I rushes cross ring to knock the técnicos off and – break?

Rudos dominant when they get back to the match. Inquisidor unties Dragon Lee's mask while the Tapatíos backdrop Enrique Vera. Everyone takes turns slapping around Magnus. He's flapjacked into upraised boots. Vera takes a corner clothesline from Rayo II, and is catapulted into a double clothesline. The veteran team is coming up with something. Dragon Lee whipped, rebound hiptoss into a double boot doesn’t look quite right but still surely hurts. Vera held for double chops, but Rayo II takes them by mistake. Vera leads the rudos into a Magnus plancha that he's way late setting up for. Rudos misses a double clothesline with him, and Magnus tosses Vera into a dropkick. Timing is not so great. Vera wanders around the ring to figure out which corner to jump off, accidentally cutting Magnus off from his running dive. Místico II pushes him aside and still lands his tornillo on Inquisidor, and Vera lands a plancha on Rayo II. That leaves Rayo I and Dragon Lee, somewhat familiar. Dragon Lee instantly gets a 'rana, but Rayo I kicks out at his own number. Dragon Lee flips over Rayo's back on a backdrop attempt, leg sweep, standing shooting star press one two NO. Dragon Lee dropkick comes up empty, Rayo I kick, Dragon Lee blocks, and Rayo I rips off the young técnico's mask. Pompin is in position for the easy DQ, though it doesn't stop Rayo from trying a pin.

Rayos celebrate with Dragon Lee's mask

Match 2: Hijo del Fantasma ©, Sagrado, Sangre Azteca vs Ephesto ©, Shigeo Okumura, Vangelis
Arena Coliseo, 03/20/2011

  1. rudos

  2. técnicos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:23
Rating: Mostly ordinary, though Sangre’s progression is interesting to see.
Notes: No entrances, though we can see Mima was with Okumura and Monito is in the técnicos corner. Pompin is the referee.

1: Sangre and Okumura start on that mat, which Sangre literally riding Okumura in no time. Okumura makes a comeback that's covered up by the fall graphic, so I believe it was simply magic. Okumura works a kneebar, which Sangre reverses to a cross armbreaker. Okumura gets free, gets tired in a leg hold. Ephesto makes a move to break it up, and Ephesto makes a move to counter him. Sangre wisely just doesn’t let go. Bow and arrow! Okumura easily breaks free, Pompin is busy messing with Fantasma and not in position to count, one two no. Both to their feet, Okumura hipblock takeover, reverse facelock on the mat. Headscissors reveal by Sangre, Okumura breaks free and goes back to his hold. Sangre rolls free to a hammerlock, Okumura gets free enough to a zero leg cover. Leobardo sounds like he's still having a tough time accepting Sangre as a técnico. It's though. Jumping snap mare leads to another zero leg takedown and then both guys putting their hands up and avoiding each other. Odd way to end it, but there it is. Sangre and Vangelis, both people who love black and white. Vangelis is probably a bigger fan of white. Crowd loudly chants for Sagrado. Early exchange is highlighted by a good look at Pompin's earpiece. With these referees, they could easily pretend they were all hearing aids. Finishing sequence is headscissors from the mat, both guys confused about a spot, and then armdrag. Fantasma and Ephesto are next. Fantasma is looking really slim in his black and purple outfit. Ephesto is looking the opposite of slim. Shoulderblock by the big man. Técnicos head to the buckle. Chops in the corner. Corner whip, reversed, Sagrado charges in, Ephesto puts him on the top rope, Sagrado kicks him off and headscissors him away. Okumura tries to surprise senton and misses. Shoulderblocks knocks Okumura down. Off the ropes, clothesline misses, Fantasma back with a headscissors. Vangelis knocks down Fantasma with a back elbow. Chest slap sends Fantasma into the corner. Corner whip, Vangelis charges in, no one’s home, and Fantasma spanks him for missing. Vangelis protests – that's not a foul, no. Jumping enziguri knocks Fantasma down. Fantasma spots Ephesto rushing in, and runs right into Ephesto’s shoulderbreaker. That'll do. Rudos hold off the other técnicos while Ephesto gets the one two three.

2: Rudos holds the ring for a beatdown. CMLL's really cut down on the t-shirt wrestling this year. Plenty of técnicos are still wearing the stylish long sleeve deals, but Okumura is the only one I can think of wrestling in a cheap personalized t-shirt. No more Toscano stripping for, instance. Rudos chop Fantasma in a corner for a while, then into the ropes for a while, then in the opposite ropes. Not exciting. Triple boot finally ends that. Sangre yells at them, and Ephesto killifies him with chops. Sangre is every rudos new most favorite, because he's making their offense look strong. Corner whip, Sagrado flips his friend to safety, sidesteps Okumura's charge, and then pulls off a sort of teeter-totter kick to the head using the middle rope. That was different. Fantasma ducks Vangelis, gets Ephesto with a headscissors, and spinebusters Vangelis. Fantasma baits Okumura into a missed elbow drop, then holds both of the rudos legs for a Sagrado & Sangre Azteca double low blow missile dropkick. Sangre and Sagrado cover for the pins.

Fantasma breaks in Ephesto, Sangre slams him, and the técnicos spread his legs apart so Monito can get in a low blow dropkick. Ephesto sells big. Top rope splash on Ephesto, and butt shake to the face.

3: Rudos refuse to start the fall, and Pompin threatens a countout. Vangelis comes in and offers a handshake. Graphics says fall 2, and will say fall 2 later on. Good work. Crowd loudly chanting Sangre. Chop fight. Vangelis drops Sangre with one, and goes crazy stomping him. Vangelis very proud of his lame stomps. Vangelis shoves Sangre into the corner, but Sangre blocks with his punch. Sangre loads up for a big loud slap, but Ephesto rushes in and grabs the arm. Chop to Sangre. Corner whip, Ephesto whipped in after, Sangre moves, Vangelis charges and dropkicks, Sangre moves again, and Ephesto takes it. Senton by Sangre, no one home. Corner whip, Sangre turns into a low blow dropkick. Vangelis off the ropes, flapjack, running, running, dropkick to the head. Pose. Sangre is the Thinker. Sangre liking the chant for him. Sagrado and Okumura in. Chop fight. Okumura off the ropes, so Sagrado trips him up with a back leg kick. Headscissors sends Okumura out. Vangelis misses a senton. Sentons have a very low success rate. Corner whip, reversed, Vangelis misses a clothesline, Sagrado comes back with a headscissors. Ephesto in, Sagrado calls him out, and drops him with a handspring back elbow. Fantasma in, Fantasma stops Ephesto down the aisle, opposite the entrance. Rudos drop the técnicos with back elbows. Corner whip, técnicos holds up, move, and Okumura dropkicks Vangelis. Sangre tosses Sagrado, but Vangelis catches Sagrado and turns it into a Northern Lights suplex. Okumura trips up Sangre and rolls him into the Gedo clutch. Pinfalls for both, Fantasma too late to break it up, though he does manage to stomp Okumura out of the ring after the fact. That was rude.

Fans mixed on that. Replays and they're done.
