Match 1: Inquisidor, Mortiz, Rayo Tapatío I, Rayo Tapatío II vs Bobby Zavala, Dragon Lee, Hijo del Signo, Hombre Bala Jr. in a cibernetico match
Arena Mexico, 03/13/2011

Winner: Veterans
Match Time: 18:31
Rating: good, good story
Notes: Experience vs Youth, where we pretend Inquisidor knows what he's doing. Lies!

Joined with Mortiz and Dragon Lee already going at it. I wonder how many times I'll call him Dragon Rojo. (Many times.) Dragon is mostly getting the better of the man from Tijuana, but they quickly end up in a standoff. Tags to Zavala and Inquisidor. They look very rehearsed, but it goes without problem. Inquisidor is doing these were jumping facelock armdrags. Zavala rallies back on a fought off corner charge before they too have the even match up face off. Hombre Bala and Rayo I in, and they battle on the mat. I'm distracted by Bala's big back scar, but they seem ok. Don't really need three straight equal face offs, but Bala switches it up with a standing moonsault for a two count. Break.

Dos and Signo are last, of course. This one seem as much one side as of them, with Signo only getting in a surprise cover off a trip before they break it off. Tags, and now this thing can really start. Inquisidor and Zavala in. Off the ropes avoidance, Inquisidor really telegraphs a missed clothesline, and Zavala headscissors him out. Zavala charges – no air on the tope, just kind of falling into Inquisidor on the way down. Dragon and Mortiz in again, chopping and talking to each other. Mortiz pulls off Dragon Lee's shirt. Dragon Lee is a beanpole. He's actually like a smaller Tyler Black from when he was starting out. Similar kind of build. Dragon Lee fights back with a back hand chop and a nice standing kick to head. Flipping run off the ropes is missed mostly by the camera. Walk up the ropes armdrag gets Mortiz down for a split second, but Mortiz gets straight back up and flips Dragon with a clothesline. Corner whip, Moritz charges, Dragon Lee nicely flips out of the corner to escape – he has more trouble getting his mask tail out of his eyes than he did with the flip – and Mortiz spears the corner on the way out. Dragon else sets himself, runs – run up the ropes tope con giro to the floor! Replay of that as Bala and Uno start going. Bala grabs the rope on a whip, kicks Uno while flipping over, grabs him in wristlock and springboard back in for a tornillo armdrag. Bala jumps to the middle rope but gets his feet call caught up, and just kind of falls forward with a tope headbutt. Crowd all over the slip up. Bala jumps to the apron, up the corner – Aerostar style inverted tope to the floor! He got Mortiz and the Rayo with that one. Rayo II and Signo in. Signo works with a hammerlock, Rayo tries to snap mare out, Signo throws him down and cover for two. An odd sequence. Headlock exchange, Back, over, waved by, armdrag throws Signo in the ropes. Rayo II charges, and oddly leaps, but Signo kicks him down. Corner whip, charge, Rayo flips Signo the apron, and trips him off the apron from there. Rayo running – hard tope thru the corner. Zavala dropkicks Rayo I as he steps in. All over him with stomps. Whip, reversed, sunset flip, Rayo rolls thru and dropkicks Zavala, and Moritz instantly adds at top rope splash. He was in position as the other two were going. One two NO. Zavala with a hard chest slap that knocks down Zavala. Crowd approves when Mortiz signals he might do another, but he ends up whipped and backdropped. Zavala jumps to the apron, Mortiz follows him – Tijuana Fly to the floor, of course. Crowd does react big. The veteran all rush over and toss Zavala in the ring before the rookies can help. Inquisidor and Signo swing at each other but nothing much comes of it. Mortiz in on Zavala, one two three.

Hombre Bala in for his team. Mortiz's clothesline is immediately caught, and Zavala lifts him on his shoulders for a flipping fireman's carry slam. Bala continues towards the corner, wastes no time going up top, and flies off with a senton con giro. One two NO. Bala is frustrated that wasn't enough. Dropkicks sends Moritz out to the ramp, where Zavala is exiting. Uno is in after a moment, and Bala drops him with inverted Flatliner, one two NO. Bala has a lot of Moves. Bala 'rana does not goe well, maybe he needs to work on that one. One t-kickout. Bala looks uncertain on a springboard try, and jumps right into a Rayo I dropkick. One two three.

Break.

Rayo II and Dragon Lee are in, and Lee goes flying on a hiptoss. And he's out!

Rayo goes running, but Signo cuts him off with a clothesline. Forearms to the back. Snap mare, kick to the spine. Dropkick sends Rayo out. Signo rushes for his own dive, but Mortiz kicks him as he crosses the ropes. Well timed. Rayo II gives the rudo a high five.

Mortiz comes in to take care of Signo. Corner whip, Signo flips Mortiz to the apron, slap and a kick to keep him there, and a sunset flip powerbomb to the floor! Dragon Lee and Signo throw Moritz back in, Dragon Lee trips up Mortiz, and Signo adds a top rope splash. One two three.

Inquisidor rushes in. Dragon Lee grabs hold of him, but Signo's dropkick only gets his partner. Inquisidor misses his senton. Whip, reversed, Signo clothesline is counted by Inquisidor kicking the arm (well times) and Inquisidor land the front cracker one two NO. Maybe if Inquisidor got a running start? Bad casadora cradle by Signo one two NO. Rayos are yelling instructions to Inquisidor. Signo kicks Inquisidor to the ropes. Whip, reversed, Signo 'rana, Inquisidor reveres on top, one two NO. Inquisidor bats Signo into each corner. Corner whip, reverses, Signo charges but Inquisidor’s stopped early anyway. Inquisidor tosses Signo to the corner buckle, plucks him off his on his shoulder, and drops him with a Buca Storm. One two three.

Dragon Lee off the top rope, plancha on Inquisidor. Inquisidor recovers, and clotheslines down the rookie. Chop sends Dragon Lee into the Tapatio's corners. They're trying to lead on the crowd, who's mostly apathetic. Big turnout, though. Corner whip, reversed, Dragon Lee charge in, Inquisidor sets him on the top rope, pulls him into the tree of woe, and lands a dropkick on the técnico's chest. Inquisidor starts to cover, is totally unaware his feet are underneath the ropes. Referee informs him, Inquisidor turns his body, and Terror Chino is still being pretty kind to count. One two no. Inquisidor kicks Dragon Lee, corner whip again, Dragon Lee gets his feet up, Inquisidor blocks and spins him into draping the ropes. Oh no, he's going for his move! Running springboard backbreaker connects, one two NO. No one cares. It's still pretty bad. Dragon Lee roll over a backdrop and seeps Inquisidor. One two no. Crowd starting to get bored. Dragon Lee kneelifts Inquisidor and drops him in front of the corner. Going up. What now? Shooting star press! Crowd back into it one two three!

Dragon Lee celebrates, but he's got two problems. Rayos do give him credit for pulling that out. Crowd hot here. Lockup, no, Rayo I slaps him down. Whip, Rayo II gets in a cheap shot from the outside! Whip, double back elbow. Crowd booing this blatant cheating. Double flapjack, double elbow drop! Rayo's are destruction machines. Rayo's celebrate they're performance. Whip, Dragon Lee tossed into a powerbomb, one two NO. Crowd into Dragon Lee's plight. Rayos try it again – but this time Dragon Lee reverses it to a 'rana on Rayo I, and II doesn't notice. One two THREE!

Crowd wants to see Dragon Lee pull this off. Chop fight. Rayo shoulderblock, off the ropes, dropkick sends him out. Rayo recovers to the apron and slaps Dragon away. Top rope plancha, one two NO. II can't believe that wasn't three. Casadora, but Dragon Lee crawls away from whatever's next. Both appealing to the crowd for support. Charge, double duck down, Rayo ducks one mid kick, but gets dropped by the other. One two no. Dragon Lee sets up, 'rana, legs hooked, one two Rayo I sneaks back in and pulls Dragon Lee over by his mask extensions, putting Rayo II on top. Ref is screened off and somehow missed this. Rayo I tried to give leverage too, but doesn't need to – one two three. Crowd is displeased.

Highlights of the battle royal for seeding: Ephesto clotheslined Olímpico out. Ephesto threw himself out on a corner charge, leaving Felino and Texano.

Match 2: Averno ©, Ephesto, Rey Bucanero vs El Alebrije, Olímpico, Psicosis © in a tournament semifinal match
Arena Mexico, 03/13/2011

Winner: Invasors
Match Time: 3:03
Rating: brief
Notes: Ref is Terror Chino. Cuije is with the Invasors.

Averno & Psicosis have an 'even' exchange, but Averno’s a little faster (and a little fatter.) Psi offers a handshake, and Averno accepts - and gets clipped by Olímpico. Invasor beatdown is on. Alebrije holds Ephesto over the ropes for a Cuije kick. Random brawling elsewhere. JCR remembers Ephesto and Bucanero had issues last year. They don't remember that during this match. Psi holds Averno for Cuije to do something off the top rope, but the Invasors take too long, and Averno fights out. Slap for Psicosis, forearm for Alerbije, and Cuije falls to the mat. Bucanero gets a hold of him from the apron and tosses him over the corner, where Alebrije catches him. Wrestles are flying around the ring, but that's not as colorful. Olímpico slides out against Ephesto and pays the price. They all do. Bucanero sets up on the ramp, and pulls off the Wagner tope con giro into Alebrije. Averno and Psicosis left standing in the ring. Both charge, avoid, Averno drop toe hold, casita, one two NO. Averno waits for Psicosis to get up, Psi misses a clothesline, referee looking out at Rey Bucanero for no reason, Psicosis goes for the foul, Averno blocks, Psi pulls Avernos' mask and cover, one two three. Psicosis pockets the mask for himself.

Match 3: Terrible, Texano Jr., Volador Jr. © vs Felino, Mr. Niebla ©, Negro Casas in a tournament semifinal match
Arena Mexico, 03/13/2011

Winner: Peste Negra
Match Time: 5:51
Rating: OK
Notes: Match is joined while the Renegados are attacking Peste Negra. Referee is Maya.

Felino is able to repel the other rudos with his smell briefly. Volador now doing a running superkick as part of corner charges. Crowd way behind Niebla., Niebla way behind spitting. They all pound him to cut that out. Niebla tries to kiss Comandante, and Texano has to make the save. Volador gets a hold of Zacarias and talks sternly to the parrot. Felino rushes in to save his feathered friend, but Texano takes care of the cat. Volador slowly backs Zacarias up the ramp, and kicks him down (camera manages to just miss the shot). Texano and Terrible suplex Negro into the ring. Volador shoves and slips Negro down in the corner, then gives him a running kick to the side of the face. That was brutal! Terrible goes after Niebla's mask, then leaves him hanging. Renegados in no hurry to finish this. Comandante tries to help, gets slapped by accident, and that starts the comeback. Brawling. Terrible throws himself out, and Negro kicks him into the laps of the front row. Felino goes after Volador's mask. Niebla holds Texano's face over the bottom rope, Zacarias runs all the way to the other ropes, starts to run, slips, runs some more, and lands a 619 of dubious merit. Big clip here.

Terrible and Negro are left in alone. Negro's chops have no affect on Terrible, but one Terrible shot fells Negro. Felino comes in to try and make peace, but Terrible doesn’t want to touch on him. Felino starts Negro chant instead. Volador and Negro exchange kicks. Negro eventually just standing right in front of a superkick. Tope drives Negro in the front row. Other four all in. Peste Negra use the power of smell on their opponents, are whipped into each other, and stop short of to rub each other's hair and kiss. Renegados try their finishes, but Felino and Niebla reverse – slow 'rana on Terrible, small package on Texano – for the win. Crowd approves.

Niebla, Felino, and Zacarias celebrate, having forgotten about poor Negro Casas.

Arena Mexico, 03/13/2011

Winner: Peste Negra
Match Time: 5:50
Rating: amusing
Notes: Both teams are brawling on the outside as the show picks up. Invasors are far the better for it, even Cuije on Zacarias! Ref is Terror Chino

Negro limps around while running from Olímpico. That' doesn't really work out so well. Olímpico targets the leg. Running kick to the head too. Alebrije, looking very fat, relaxes with a knee on Felino’s throat. Psicosis takes care of fellow former Viper Mr. Niebla. I totally forgot they were partners until this very moment. Alebrije holds, Niebla over his knees for a triple legdrop from the others. Negro strolls down the ramp to the ring, but has time to talk to people on the way. Felino dives in the ring. He's dropped. Cuije in, and Alebrije tosses him for the big splash. Negro in, and kicked. Corner whip, double back elbow. Crowd behind Negro as he waves to them while being hurt. Invasors hold his legs spread in the corner, and Cuije ads a diving low blow headbutt. Negro tries to go after Cuije, and gets stomped. Invasors throw Zacarias in. Alebrije stands on top of Perico! PETA is going to complain about this one. Triple kick to the head! Niebla comes in, gets slapped out. Invasor back up Perico on the corner, and set up Cuije. Corner whip, - Perico spear! Rudos reach to break that fight up, and the Peste Negra run in to beat them all up. Mascots roll out of the ring, Perico on top, as the CMLL rudos got after the Invasors in odd ways. Negro boinks Olímpico on the head a lot, Niebla bites a boot. Invasor regroup on the outside. Back to their corners. Olímpico and Negro in a chop fight. Negro off the ropes, into a clothesline. Olímpico off the ropes, Negro takes him out with a kneelift. Negro throws him out and follows with a silla. Psicosis in, Niebla ducks a clothesline and powerbombs him on the next pass. Alebrije watches, waves Felino by, drop down, and Felino stops on top for a camel clutch. Nieblina on Psicosis, and Zacarias in to kick Alebrije while he's trapped. Peste win.
