Match 1: Leono, Molotov, Starman © vs Dr. X, Durango Kid, Nitro
Arena Mexico, 01/02/2011

  1. técnicos

  2. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-0)
Match Time: 13:06
Rating: eh.
Notes: Refs are Pompin and Bestia Negra, together so I can misidentify them together.

1: Opening pairs are Dr. X/Starman in the battle of people who had to change their names, Leono/Starman in guys who unmasked pushed people for a little while (Nitro slaps Leono good, and Leono doesn’t slap nearly as well back) and Durango/Molotov in the match up of two other people who happen to be in this match. Durango Kid wrestling with the sleeveless Addias shirt instead of the body armor this week. This is an amazingly vanilla trios. Durango tries to a fancy submission, and can't get it to work, because that'd be too much spice here. He does land on his feet off a monkey flip, that's nice. Cycle spins around to the first pair, and Starman ends up toping X. Durango goes for his dive, and Leono actually properly cuts him off with a springboard splash. Springboard is much smarter there, it doesn't require the rudo to take a bizarre left turn towards the técnico corner just to set up the spot. Leono follows with what seems like a neat entry in a double armbar. Nitro and Molotov thru a few more spots before Molotov juts puts on a figure four for the fall.

2: Molotov/Nitro sequence ends up with an armdrag and two quebradoras on the outside. It's not Molotov taking them. Leono/Durango continues the match of ordinariness. Starman's mask looks really not much like Metálico, and yet I can't help but always think about their near fictional tag team. Rudos get in a cheap shot on Starman, and dr. X hurriedly unties his mask. Durango and Nitro keep the others busy. Beatdown is a beatdown. Oh, look, a low blow dropkick. If I didn't know there was a really fun match going next, I think I'd stop doing the recap for a day and do something else. Like dive face first into snow or something equally productive. Hey, look, a break, what could that mean!

Starman casually lands on his feet off a rebound double hiptoss. Dr. X is the poor sucker who takes the double chop from his friends. Starman kicked out, but the other técnicos armdrag the other rudos. Molotov jumps to the top rope – and looses his balance! Leono tries to keep him from falling backwards, but Molotov just drops down to the mat and does a pescado. Crowd is merciless. Leono’s springboard plancha much better in comparison. Dr. X sets up for the dive he's not going to do – there's that left turn into a plancha that makes no real sense. Starman casadora, Dr. X gets free, Starman’s 'rana, Dr. X powerbombs him and puts his feet on the ropes one two – Pompin stops Bestia's count because he sees the foot on the ropes. Whip, reversed, Dr. X, into a quebradora. Maybe you want to finish this? Dr. X kicks, Starman catches the boot, Dr. X grabs the mask. No one cares. There are some boos. Dr. X is keeping the mask.

JCR just compared this next match to Infernales vs the Brazos. Because it's the same titles, I guess. And that was a tournament.

Match 2: Ángel de Oro, Diamante, Rush © vs Metal Blanco, Palacio Negro, Sagrado © in a tournament final for a shot at the National Trios Championship
Arena Mexico, 01/02/2011

  1. Sagrado

  2. Rush
  3. Rush

Winner: Rush (2-1)
Match Time: 13:26
Rating: fun!
Notes: Individual entrances for guys competing for a team title. Diamante uses Linkin Park? Since when? Why? They really should get Rush one of the black Nike shirts, if only we get to see what logo he uses. Metal Blanco seems confused. He's wearing white, Palacio Negro is wearing half black and half white, and so is Sagrado.

1: Circle. Lockup, Angel de Oro waistlock, takedown, front facelock, Palacio Negro spins out into an armbar, Angel de Oro rolls to a trip and to his feet, Palacio Negro headscissors from the mat and kip up. Lockup, Angel de Oro forces Palacio Negro down, Negro kip up and armdrags Angel de Oro away. Negro slips behind, takedown, roll over Oro's back, into a front facelock, Oro reverse to an armbar, Palacio Negro quickly flips to a reversal and flips in front of Oro. Angel de Oro seems surprised about who close this is. Handshake. Tags. Metal Blanco springboard front flips into Diamante’s face. Why is Diamante wearing a hoodie? Diamante pushes the new guy away, and he stops to yell towards the crowd. Lockup, Metal Blanco armdrag. Metal Blanco is really smaller than Diamante. Circle. Lockup, Blanco trips up Diamante, snap mare, Diamante lands on his feet. Lockup, diamante armdrag, Metal Blanco takes a moment in the ropes. Crowd getting restless, and this set of counters probably won’t help. Armdrag sends Diamante to the ropes, but he gets up and shoves Blanco. Tags to Sagrado and Rush. Crowd is far more interested with Rush in. Rush gets knocked own, but armdrags Sagrado, who headstands to his feet. They go to head to head, but Rush snakes in an armdrag. Sagrado back with one of his own, Rush armdrag, Sagrado armdrag, chest to chest and shove exchange. Rush piefaces Sagrado, Sagrado pushes back. Rush slaps Sagrado in the chest, Sagrado slaps him in the face! Chest slap battle, Rush seems to win. Clip? Rush whips Sagrado into Rush's corner. Rush charges, Sagrado slips up and hits a swinging kick. Angel de Oro and Diamante are giving their opponents a lot of room. Sagrado goes up, top rope splash one two no. Sagrado just sort of feel off the top rope there, no leap. Headscissors sends rush out, and Sagrado topes Rush – right into an older woman! Ooops. Palacio misses a dropkick, and Oro/Diamante chop down Palacio. Oro/Diamante back them all the way up, double clothesline misses, Palacio boosted into a nice 'rana on Diamante, and Metal Blanco gets his owns springboard 'rana on Angel de Oro. Counts one two three.

2: Fall starts with Angel de Oro assassinating Palacio Negro with a superkick. Angel de Oro earned his celebration there, but he might have ended Negro's fall if he tried a pin there. Whip, Negro with a handspring flip over a bent over Oro. Negro off the ropes, under the leapfrog, over ht roll – right into walking on his hands. This lasts long enough for Angel de Oro to give the crowd a look - “what am I supposed to do with THAT?” - then turn a round as Negro backflips into a 'headscissors. Angel de Oro punch is blocked, Palacio wristlocks him, runs to the ropes, springboard down to the middle rope, up to the top rope, down to the middle rope, up to the tope, and slips springboarding off for the headscissors, though he still gets more of it. Absurd. Out goes a bewildered Angel de Oro. Meanwhile, Palacio Negro runs off the ropes and rolls, and the director is so sure this must be a dive fake that he cuts to confused Angel de Oro, despite the fact that Palacio Negro just backflipped over the top rope (!!) We never see what happens, but apparently he landed on his feet. Tags? Sure. Blanco and Diamante in. Diamante does a pointless backflip off the top rope to keep up. Metal backflips off a boot plant, then sends Diamante roll with a springboard headscissors. Diamante stays in, get a wristlock and his own quadruple springboard armdrag! Diamante points to Palacio negro, who's eager to come back in anyway. Negro clothesline misses, shoulderblock connects and actually works, Negro off the ropes, over, and tripped up by Rush! Rush pulls Palacio out, and knocks him down with a mighty chop. Metal Blanco is still over there, and complains to Rush about it. Meanwhile, Angel de Oro and Diamante start running – stereo handspring moonsaults to the floor! Sagrado tries to cut off Rush on the apron, but simply gets chopped away. Missile dropkick, one two no. Sagrado tries a clothesline, Rush catches out into a back suplex. There's that senton one two three. Rush poses, is awful proud of himself.

3: Blanco and Oro in, and evasive off the ropes a bit. Dueling flipping runs, but Oro clotheslines Blanco down. Negro jumps in and clotheslines Oro. Diamante on Negro, Sagrado on Diamante, Rush on Sagrado,, and Rush makes sure to stomp Sagrado while he's down. Crowd does not like Rush, even as he chops the two GDL novatos. They both rally, dropkicking Rush. Out. Angel de Oro and Diamante get them with superkicks in turn. Sagrado superkicks out Angel de Oro, Diamante's flipped to the apron, so he reaches thru and trips up Sagrado on the run, sending him flying thru the ropes. Diamante Asai tornillo! Negro and Oro in, except Negro quickly springs to the ropes, Angel de Oro charges, Negro slaps him away, and rope fly moonsaults Diamante on the outside. Angel de Oro gets back to his feet – run to the corner, flip to the outside of the second rope, and moonsaulting from there to the floor! Metal Blanco's turn – running leap to the middle rope, jumping twist to the second rope for a moonsault. Rush going top dive? Rush tope con giro, landing on Metal Blanco’s head! Sagrado is last man last – tope straight to Rush's head! That was fun. Another kicking fight breaks out on the outside, and Rush is the last guy standing. Front row crowd approves of Rush's actions, and he goes back into pose again. Sagrado grabs him from behind – rolling waistlock rollup one two NO. Rush waistlock, Sagrado elbows him way, Rush Northern Lights Suplex one two NO. Rush clothesline easily caught, and Sagrado fireman’s drops him in front of the corner. Sagrado going up with confidence. Top rope moonsault eats knees. Rush covers, one two NO. Sagrado, off the ropes, scooped up on Rush’s shoulders, and down into the Michinoku Driver, Senton, but no one's home. Sagrado senton, but no one's home! Sagrado waving to the crowd, who’s not waving back. Shoulder to shoulder, neither one goes down. High kick to high kick, and both goes down. Diamante and Palacio Negro in with a springboard splashes, one NO. Captains throw out the other guys. I guess they w sant to finish it. Angel de Oro is fired up for this battle. Chop fight turns sideways. Sagrado goes to the leg kick first. Rush comes back with his own. Rush bodyscissors pulls them both over the top rope and out. Angel de Oro and Metal Blanco, Black off the ropes, tosses up and down with a 'rana, one two Diamante breaks it up. Palacio Negro springboards in with a frog plancha, knocking down Diamante. Clothesline caught, and Diamante is fireman's dropped in the corner. Palacio Negro headstand into a rope flip moonsault one two NO. Palacio Negro is fired up, which is surprising seeing as his best move just got kicked out of. Corner whip, Metal Blanco flips Diamante to the apron, Angel de Oro in, shoulderblock for Palacio Negro, drop for Metal Blanco, Diamante springboard 450 splash on Blanco, Angel de Oro mecedora on Negro that's it.

Rush and Sagrado make it back during the three count. Rush takes down Sagrado, but Sagrado starts swinging at him from mat, and they start throwing at each other. Refs have to break them up. They're stood up but still hot, and Rush takes Sagrado down – right into Metal Blanco, who's barely moved since he took the splash. Rush's partners have to pull him away. The refs get Sagrado separated, since his partners are hurting – Metal Blanco is still not moving much and it's only now they've noticed.

Replays and they're done.
