Arena Coliseo, 08/22/2010

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:53
Rating: got better as it went on
Notes: Gatos Negros have personalized Puma jerseys. I'm going to pretend Tiger Kid bought them to patch things up after turning on him in the cage match. Astro Boy promo! For some reason, Tiger Kid's got better things to do then show up for the promo with the rest of his team. Referees are Tiger Hispano and Bestia Negra, maybe.

1: One on ones – Tiger/Starman (long chain lucha, not interesting), Metalico/Inquisidor (tried a lot of stuff, but had all sort of powerbombs with an Inquisidor legscissors spot, where Metálico was trying to lift him up by one arm but couldn't), Astro/Puma (got lost for a moment, very short compared to the others) before it broke down. Puma springboard dropkicked Astro Boy, then flipped him to apron. Astro Boy forearmed him into a Starman top rope headscissors, sending him out, and Astro Boy followed with a tope con giro. Other four all in, técnicos wrap things up quick easily.

2: Metálico/Puma sequence, so Metálico can get in his rolling apron headscissors. Tiger Kid pulls off his jersey because he's serious against Starman, and Metálico absconds with it so he can defile it a bit; the cameras largely miss this. Tiger Kid ends up going thru the ropes to the floor, and Starman follows for a quebradora. Inquisidor is unable to stop the técnicos run, eating a springboard twisting armdrag from Astro Boy, then a spinning headscissors. Tiger Kid tries to block Astro Boy's path from sliding out, but Astro Boy slides thru Tiger's legs and trips him off the apron. Puma decides to springboard to the top rope, walk over the corner to the other set of ropes (barely hanging on) and dives at Astro Boy. I think he might he wanted an armdrag, but is lucky to make any contact. His feet where not staying on those ropes. Back inside, Inquisidor blocks a Metálico clothesline with a kick, then drops him with a chestbreaker. Sharpshooter armbar finishes that one up. Tiger takes care of Starman with the dropkick to the butt - > casita combo, and that's the fall.

3: Puma King kicks Astro Boy directly in the face. Starman is tripped face first into the bottom buckle and dropkicked in the backside. Astro Boy ducks a weak double clothesline to headscissors out Puma and start the comeback. Metálico and Starman tope Inquisidor and Tiger, leaving Puma and Astro back in. Evasion, Astro Boy 'rana, Puma King roll thru, one tow NO. Always a nice surprise when the first move doesn’t end it. Astro Boy spinning headscissors out into a backbreaker – he landed on his feet before delivering it, so it's not quite as cool as Aerostar's. Other rudos get counted out, though TV calls it before it happens.

Match 2: Hijo del Fantasma, Máscara Dorada, Toscano vs Jushin Liger, Sangre Azteca, Terrible
Arena Coliseo, 08/22/2010

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:08
Rating: okay
Notes: Mima Shimoda is out with Lyger for the entrance, but disappears before the match. Monito is with the técnicos. Rudos do a group promo and are especially wacky. Fantasma follows that by being serious. Referees are Tiger Hispano and Rodolfo Ruiz.

1: Terrible/Toscano (brief), Fantasma/Lyger (Fantasma tries to be cool, fails), Sangre/Dorada (awesome before it starts – Dorada does a springboard front flip and roll into the ring, Lyger points to Sangre to top it, Sangre teases a springboard a few times, then just steps thru the ropes!) The lat two exchange armdrags and miss dropkick until Sangre wins with a rolling jumping spinning heel kick. Sangre celebrates, Fantasma dropkicks him. Terrible boots Fantasma. Toscano chops Terrible, chops Lyger, chops Sangre. Rudos shrug it off, and all kick Toscano around. You know CMLL's the realistic promotion when they're laying out matches around Toscano not being any good. Unfortunately, Toscano comes back to give Lyger a bad spear to set up the finishes.

2: Dorada gets Sangre on his inside rope springboard headscissors. Lyger kicks him down, dances a bit, then has no idea how to take Dorada's spinning around the ropes headscissors. It is an inexplicable move. Dorada poses, rudos clean house to start the beatdown. Terrible and Fantasma have a Monito tug of war. Fantasma is stomped away and Terrible spins Monito around by his head. Sangre has Lyger hold Monito's legs open, and lands his middle rope dropkick to the butt. Referees are completely unconcerned. Corner charges for Toscano, including Sangre low blow dropkick. Toscano is amusing in his half hearted selling. Rudos go for Fantasma’s mask, then set him up in the Tree of Woe for Sangre’s dropkick. Terrible covers him for one pin. I just realized I have no idea who's supposed to be the captain. Not Fantasma, because the match just moseys on. Toscano takes the butt dropkick as well, and that's the match.

3: Rudos in charge. Fantasma side steps a charge, Sangre takes a dropkick bump in the corner, then eats the big monkey flip. Terrible knocks Fantasma and yells. Terrible is not wearing his usual tag gear with Texano, for whatever reason. Fantasma manages to kick Terrible in the head, then headscissors him out. Tope is cut off by a Lyger stop sign from the apron. Lyger forearms him, but Fantasma kicks him out as he tries to come thru the ropes. Triple tope by the técnicos does not seem that impressive for some reason. Maybe it is Sangre falling down a bit after he's being hit by Toscano, not looking much hurt at all. Fantasma gets Lyger in a time killing submission, Toscano puts Terrible in a camel clutch, and Dorada springboards into a counter dropkick by Sangre. Sangre covers, técnicos are way too slow in breaking it up (though Fantasma still kinda does.) Announcers alert us that Dorada's the captain. Rudos pull the other técnicos into inside cradles to stop them from breaking up the pin, but the referees refuse to count because the match is over. Sangre totally owns this one by himself.

That's it.
