Notes: Previously taped in-ring promos and posing for the teams. Quite goofy. Refs are Rafa El Maya and Bestia Negra

1: Match is of course joined in progress after all of that. Inquisidor and Fabian el Gitano, of all people, have the long opening exchange, which ends with Inquisidor being slapped hard and opting to leave. Starman's gear looks like he and Metálico are teaming up on shows too small to make air (at least so far, give them another year.) He gets much the better of Dr. X with armdrags, and they end up in a shoving match on the floor, a cameraman getting caught in the middle. Nitro and Maya are left. This week, Maya tries to get a headscissors from a shoulder powerslam, and it sort of works. Running up the ropes armdrag is sedate for him. Maya slips when running up the ropes, but recovers in plenty of time to plancha Nitro. Inquisidor starts as if he's going to dive, comes to a complete stop in the center of the ring, turns, waits, and finally Starman's plancha hits. Maybe Inquisidor started too soon, because Inquisidor couldn't start climbing that corner until Maya dived, but Starman was just waiting himself for a moment. Casadora on Dr. X is reversed into a face first powerbomb. Fabian, fighting Inquisidor, doesn't break off to help his partner while he’s being pinned. Inquisidor reverses a corner whip, sets Fabian up in the ropes, runs to the other corner, runs back, springboards, slips on the springboards, adjust, falls off, and backcrackers Fabian in the process. Inquisidor may be working with a different clock than the rest of us.

Ras de Lona repeat: Tony Salazar's school.

2: Rudos retain control. Corner charges include Inquisidor doing a wheel kick. Announcers hype tomorrow's show again during this. Maya gets the camel clutch/double dropkick to the face. Fabian takes a backdrop and a top rope splash by Nitro one two Starman breaks it up. I wondered how they were getting out of that. Fabian springboard backflips away form the Tuareg guys, Inquisidor grabs him, and gets him by the rudos. Técnico back in with flying armdrags, rudos all out on the same side – double tope, Fabian bailing out. Nitro jumps on the apron, and manages to armdrag Fabian as he comes in. Fabián comes back with his own armdrag, then holds on for a seated armbar. Captain on captain, that's the fall.

The Dr. X fans are here! She didn't paint her face for this one.

Block A, Universal Tournament recap.

3: Starman sends Inquisidor out with a top rope spinning armdrag, then follows him out for a quebradora. Fabian and Dr. X in next, and only Fabian seem to remember they have any particular issue. Kicks to the side, armdrags, quebradora con giro, and a second on for good measure. Dropkick, and Dr. X gets out. Fabián fakes the dive to pose. Maya runs the ropes, evades, and then gets dropped with a simple heel kick. Nitro avalanches him with a tope. Starman gives Inquisidor one more quebradora con giro, then a wheel kick, but Inquisidor kickout at two. Fabian quebradora is a bit high, so Fabian adds a legdrop to be sure. One two three. Starman behind the back slam on Inquisidor to finish him and the fall.

Match 2: Hijo del Fantasma, La Máscara ©, Toscano vs Felino, Negro Casas, Ray Mendoza Jr. ©
Arena Coliseo, 08/01/2010

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:20
Rating: eh.
Notes: this time, the two teams aren't in the same ring when talking about the match. Ray Mendoza is alerted La Mascara is a Brazo; he's not a fan. Felino's glasses are so dark, he stumbles around like a blind man and doesn’t look the right way when his partners talk. Casas and Felino decided Ray Mendoza smells enough to be on their team. Toscano is not there for his team, maybe that's why Felino can't find them. These two still think they're in the Angeles Rebeldes. Toscano is wearing a hat. Same refs as the opener. Rudos have the parrot!

1: Fantasma and Felino battle on the mat, and the rudos actually get stopped and warned before they can come in break it up. Negro just waits five seconds more than breaks it up then. Fantasma chases Negro to the floor, but Felino grabs him – oh, that goes wrong. Rudos get it together to kick around Fantasma. Is this a beatdown? This is apparently a beatdown. Mascara and Toscano figure it out even later than I, but Toscano manages to keep his hat on while being slapped. Hat finally comes off on a whip. And the refs take it away. Double back elbow, legs yanked apart. Fantasma gets choked by the parrot, and shoulderblocked out. Mendoza accidentally kicks Felino, and Mascara superkicks Mendoza. Mascara is all read to fight Negro, but first they must pose and let Everyone go back to their corner. Chop fight, Mascara takes off his shirt, Negro swoons, and hugs Mascara around the waist, Mascara ear clips him to get away, off thee ropes, Felino cheapshots him, Mascara hits back, Mascara gets the better of Negro and Mendoza, headscissors Mendoza out, and follows with a tope. Mendoza fell hard there. Toscano gets Negro with a Boston crab, while Fantasma rolls up Felino with a casita. That's the fall.

2: Fall starts off with a Toscano sequence. Toscano sure appears to be someone who's decided to mail this in. Felino eventually puts him down and forces him to smell his arm pit. Meanwhile, in the dark of the ramp, Negro Casas is randomly DDTing Fantasma, and so the beatdown has started. Doesn't last long until Felino finishes Mascara with a middle rope elbow drop.

Ras de Lona (not) rerun: Fantasma also gets to talk about that match in Europe with Sangre Azteca.

3: Rudos decide to keep Mascara in and force the tag. Técnicos reach over the ropes when Mascara gets close, so Felino slaps Fantasma down. Toscano loses his balance on the ropes and falls into the ring, like a complete goofball. I have no idea. Rudos just passively let Mascara leave after they've made a wish with their legs. That parrot looks so creepy. Match turns when Fantasma escapes a corner charge. Negro forearms him out, but just stand in place while Mascara comes in and superkicks him. Mendoza slaps down Mascara and follows with a horrible senton. Toscano gives Mendoza spinning backbreaker, but fails prey to Felino’s armpit. Shouldlerblock, and out he goes. Mascara gets Felino with the rolling dropkick, then leaves so Fantasma can face Negro Casas. Chop fight is even until Negro gets in a shot to the throat. Negro poses. Fantasma off the ropes, shoulderblock, Fantasma poses, Negro kicks him from the ground. Fantasma off the ropes, stops to stomps Negro. Whip, reversed, Negro pulls Fantasma down to the mat with a sleeper, and kicks him in the spine. Fantasma kicks Negro in the head, under a clothesline, both men clothesline each other, Mascara and Felino cover the opponents, one two three. Three?

Not the captains, so this goes on. Mascara misses a dropkick, Felino does not misses clothesline – wait, he missed the third. Superkick by Mascara, which might be his fourth this match. Time killing submissions while Toscano plancha Mendoza. Toscano gets up, but Negro trips him up from the outside, and Mendoza breaks the pin. Mascara reaches for Mendoza, but V5 inside cradles Toscano as he argues with Negro, and Felino inside cradles La Mascara. Toscano actually grabs the ropes, then lets go, but it's one two three for both, and that's the match.

Toscano made it all the way thru without taking off his shirt, so he must be happy. The rest of us, not so much.

Pretaped promo has the rudos celebrating their win. That's it.
