CMLL Guerreros del Ring on 52MX #236 (05/29/2010)
Recap: 06/09/10

Sin Salida plug #1 starts the show, but there are plenty more during the show.

This week, they intermix the preview of the match with the luchadors promos of the matches, then show the open.

Match 1: Horus, Metálico ©, Starman vs Durango Kid, Puma King, Tiger Kid ©
Arena Coliseo, 05/23/2010

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:44
Rating: OK
Notes:

1: Mat wrestling pairs are Tiger/Horus, Durango/Metalico, Puma/Starman, with not much to talk about. Puma fakes a dive on Starman at the end of their bit, setting up a Durango Asia Moonsault instead. Puma then tricks Horus into sliding out, and Horus stand on the floor watching as Puma runs back to the other set of ropes, comes back the front way, springboards to the top rope, and comes off with a tope con giro. That's some patience. Tiger finishes Metalico with a dropkick to the butt and a casita.

2: Rudos in control. Tiger dropkicks Horus in the face very hard on a rolling spot. Rudo fns are passionate in their request for one more. Comeback starts while they have the screen shrunk. They’re usually timing it better that way. Horus does some flying armdrags, I think. Metálico topes Tiger Kid, Starman gives Puma backbreaker, Horus dropkicks him out, and Starman follows with a slingshot tope con giro. Horus tries something – maybe his floatover DDT – but it doesn't work right. He quickly gets a kneeling step over armbar on Durango for the elimination.

3: Matchups are Starman/Tiger (fun when Tiger is on offense; Tiger too obviously sets himself up in position to take moves), Horus/Puma (Horus does a inside/out springboard moonsault, jumping from the middle ropes over the adjacent ropes and to the floor), and then chaos from there. Starman cuts off Kid Tiger form his own dive by plancha and powerbombs his 'rana attempt for one pin. Metálico has some difficulty but puts Durango Kid in a clutch pin for the win. Durango was barely in this match.

Match 2: Metro, Rush, Valiente © vs Dragón Rojo Jr. ©, Euforia, Vangelis

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 12:33
Rating: fun enough
Notes: Valiente has his belt

1: Vangelis tries to power over Valiente. This ends badly for Vangelis, Valiente taking him down, folding up his legs, and hooking him in a camel clutch. More exchanges as 52MX opts to walk around the ring and occasionally give us a decent shot of the action. Back in the match, Vangelis puts a front facelock on Valiente and tries to crank it in. Valiente isn't having it, and tries to reverse to a flapjack. That's not the bump Vangelis takes – he falls on top of his head on the mat in an ugly fashion. Both referees and Euforia all rush to Vangelis, but he somehow gets back to a seated position and shakes his. Replay form multiple angles, all of them showing Vangelis landing on top of his face. That's not recommended! Vangelis looks out of it, but Valiente continues tossing him around, dropping him with a sort of FU. Announcers discuss the difference in weights of the welterweight and light heavyweight division (Magadan has the correct numbers!) to compare this match up. Valiente armdrags Vangelis out of the ring to give him a break. Euforia comes in, and Valiente decides he'll just keep wrestling. Counter, counter, monkey flip, flip escape, and Euforia blasts Valiente with a dropkick. Metro gets Euforia with a tope plancha, and they counter each other on the mat. Euforia trying to hold onto a front facelock on Metro is entertaining. Euforia is sent out via kip up armdrag. Dragon Rojo in last, and sharing the same colors as Metro. Metro knocks Dragon Rojo over with a shoulderblock, because he is strong. Metro tries running again, but Dragon Rojo surprises him with an armdrag. Dragon Rojo chops Metro clear out of the ring, it's quite some chop. Unfortunately, Rush then flattens him with a missile dropkick. Evasive spots end with Rush dropping Dragon via running elbow smash. Follow up senton misses. Rojo gets a moment of advantage with a clothesline, but misses a corner charge and throws himself out. Vangelis dropkicks Rush out, Valiente plancha Vangelis, Euforia pulls Valiente down by his mask, and Valiente hiptosses Euforia. Euforia and Valiente fails as a team, but Valiente and Metro do not – chop and German suplex on Vangelis for one pin, Valiente 'rana on Euforia – no, Euforia escapes, allowing Valiente to put on his armdrag into a headscissors armbar. That set of moves takes a while, long enough for Dragon Rojo and Rush to come back in, and Rush finishes Dragon Rojo with a Boston crab first.

2: Metro/Rojo is shown from walking around the ring cam. Valiente is in a hopping mood to face Vangelis, who only stick in for a few armdrags. Euforia in, and almost cradles immediately for the pin. A spot hoping on Euforia’s shoulders goes wrong, but Valiente immediately gets in an armdrag to sent him out. Dragon Rojo gets in shots, but is dropped on his face and dropkicked out of the ring. Valiente celebrates with a crotch chop? Huh. Rush and Vangelis in, though I'm listening to the conversation about the history of Poder Borica instead. Lots of loud kicks. Euforia comes in while Vangelis recovers on one knee, and tosses Rush into the air. For once, this move actually benefits the rudos; Vangelis catches Rush, sets him down, then Northern lights suplexes him for the pin. Euforia special on Valiente and Dragon Rojo warms my heart by using a cavernaria to actually win a fall.

3: Beatdown. Taking turns chopping for the most part. Knocking the guy down, someone else picking them up and knocking them down. High spot is a two man backdrop. Rudos screw up in a new, impressively silly fashion. After that double backdrop, they all go to pose on the camera side ropes. Euforia poses in the corner, Vangelis steps on the middle of the ropes and poses, and Dragon Rojo kicks the middle rope in his celebration. That causes Vangelis top slip over the top rope and falls to the apron and to the mat. As the other rudos are looking at Vangelis, Metro gets back, charges, and topes Vangelis (just barely getting there.) Rudos turn around, and Valiente is around to attack both of them. Rudos get it together just long enough for Euforia to spear the post on the miss. Valiente dropkicks Dragon Rojo down, Dragon Rojo gets back up too soon, Valiente brushes past him as he runs for the Valiente special, which connects on Euforia. Dragon Rojo and Rush in. Rush catches a clothesline and drops Dragon Rojo with a Samoan Drop. Senton, and an Amarre for the win. This fall took less time then it took me to figure out what that was called in the wiki.
