CMLL Guerreros del Ring on CAN52 #222 (02/20/2010)
Recap: 02/28/09

JIP: Místico vs Volador for the MEX Light Heavyweight Title. Místico tries La Mistica, Volador breaks free, Volador tries Mistica, Místico slams him on his face. Místico casita, blocked by Volador, who hooks both a cradle and the bottom rope, one two three. Místico complains, covers up his face, and complains some more. Volador celebrates a lot. Clip to Místico doing a tope from the ramp and thru the ropes to spear Volador. He ran right past Leo Riano, who was standing on the apron for the post match interview. Riano does not seem like he knew it was coming, but he only slightly moved away when Místico ran towards him. Místico rains punches on Volador, then bites and rips up Volador's pants. Místico rips off Volador’s mask, stuff that in his pants, then grabs the belt and hits Tiger Hispano with it. Tiger Hispano doesn't go down, but a foul takes care of that. Místico poses on the middle rope and points at the booing crowd and himself before taking off. Místico stops to pose on the ramp, and gets drenched in flying beverages.

Místico tells us he's still the best wrestler in lucha libre

Open features a lot of clips of the Místico/Volador stuff before highlighting the matches actually taking place today. A lot more random, non-specific to this week's actions clips instead of the clips that solely focus on today’s show. Of course, they still have the video with Perro Aguayo Jr., Damian 666 and Alex Koslov in it, so they haven't changed everything.

Magadan talks about the next match.

Match 1: Dalis la Caribeña, Estrella Mágica, Marcela vs Hiroka, Seuxis, Yeska
Arena Mexico , 02/14/2010

  1. rudas

  2. técnicas

  3. técnicas

Winner: técnicas (2-1)
Match Time
: 11:13
Rating: better than I thought, though not interesting on it’s own.
Notes: Yeska carries the promo for her side, Seuxis (which seems to be the spelling they've settled on, so I need to change things) has a sling or brace on her right shoulder. There doesn't seem to be any consistent spelling of “Dallys” yet.

1: One on ones to start; Estrella Mágica keeps up with Hiroka and Marcela vs Seuxis goes okay, if looking rehearsed. (Crowd boos Marcela when she dropkicks Seuxis out. They’re anti-técnico tonight.) Yeska/Dalis is loud, both women screaming on every move. Nothing is horrible blown (thought some seems slightly so.) Rudas triple team Dalis, but the younger women accidentally boot Hiroka, who rolls out and gets dropped by a Marcela tope con giro. Everyone else stands around for a couple seconds, and nothing good can come of the adults leaving the room. Seuxis drops Dalis in front of the corner for Yeska to go up, and her senton con giro lands (though it was hard for her to miss at that short distance). Seuxis gets Estrella with an inverted bearhug, and that's the fall.

2: Rudas in charge of the ring,. Marcela is tripped up to take a hard running dropkick from Hiroka. Estrella Mágica is whipped into a middle rope silla from Yeska. Dalis takes corner clotheslines, then is whipped into a really weak looking takedown, followed by a painful looking middle rope legdrop from Seuxis. Rudas fight to keep all the técnicas out for a bit, which seems a bit counters productive. They eventually let Dalis in, tossing her around by her hair and tossing her back out. Marcela brought in and whipped or corner charges, but she backdrops Hiroka out of the ring, then easily double clotheslines the other. She's going to win this match by herself if her partners don't screw it up. Dalis throws Hiroka around on the outside, while Marcela sets up the other two for a middle dropkick from Dalis. Marcela gives Yeska a double underhook backbreaker, and Estrella gets Seuxis with a leg grapevine + armbar just as Dalis finishes Hiroka with a cristo. That's the fall.

3: Even as the ring girl is walking towards the ring, Hiroka is already laying out Estrella Magica to start the fall. Estrella manages a fireman's carry escape armdrag. Estrella off the ropes, and dropkicking Hiroka out of the ring. Hiroka walks around the ring, so Estrella doesn't even consider the dive. Tags to Dalis and Seuxis. Seuxis seems very athletic, rolling over Dalis over a drop down, and then again over her on Dalis’ roll. Unfortunately, she finishes with the classic one foot dropkick, never a smooth move. Dalis rolls out, Marcela dropkicks her, Yeska dropkicks her, and looks for her dive (bad time to shrink the screen, but they get it in time.) Yeska goes thru the ropes, and her tope knocks over – Seuxis? Something went wrong there. Looks like Marcela just moved out of the way, but so early that she was barley in the picture. She picks up the rudas and holds them as Estrellita climbs up – plancha onto both. Marcela back in, helping Dalis walk up to the top rope for a plancha on both too. Marcela checks this out, and Hiroka surprises her with a backdrop, one two NO. Hiroka can’t believe that count, arguing with the ref. Hiroka charges, right into a kick, Michinoku Driver, one two three.

The random return of the Inmortales feature just happens to be Místico taking the mask of Black Warrior. What a coincidence. Maybe it's only to show how Místico's won masks before and Volador ought to be careful, but it doesn't appear that way.

Also taken from Ras de Lona (or at least a very similar set up), Atlantis talks about the 6 most important masks he's won: Mano Negra, Hombre Bala, Kung Fu, Villano III, Talisman, and Tierra Viento Y Fuego.

Match 2: Blue Panther, Strong Man, Toscano vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
Arena Mexico , 02/14/2010

  1. técnicos

  2. rudos

  3. técnicos

Winner: técnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:44
Rating: a Strong Man match
Notes: Sadly, Toscano promo – no Strong Man.

1: JIP, with Strong Man and Ephesto. This goes badly for Ephesto, of course. After getting shoved down twice, Ephesto tries a waistlock, Strong Man reverses, shoves him off, and clotheslines him down. Strong Man leans down to cover, Averno rushes in to forearm Strong Man in the back many times, and Strong Man is just slightly annoyed. Averno slaps Strong Man a lot not, not hurting Strong Man and exhausting Averno. Mephisto comes in, just in time to duck the clothesline. Strongman tells them to try clotheslines, and both Averno and Mephisto hurt their arms trying. Strong Man tells them to bring it again – and knocks them down with shoulderblocks. Mephisto swings, misses, and is caught in a choke. Averno chopping, and Strongman rips Averno's shirt of with the other hand. Both rudos hooked, and both hiptossed. Panther and Toscano calmly come in, and finish those guys off. Panther with an espectrino on Averno, Toscano bodyscissors into a back bridge cover, and that’s the fall. Ephesto tries chopping Strong Man again, strong Man is unmoved, and roars, Ephesto runs out of the ring, falling and rolling in his hurry to get away.

Clip: Negro Casas defeats Hijo del Fantasma for the CMLL Middleweight Championship, with brief promos about it from both men.

2: One on matchups are Toscano versus Ephesto, and Panther versus Mephisto. Both are all one sides, so much so that Averno has to run in and save his partner form the farmer's roll. Averno slaps Panther out of the ring, then taunts Strong Man in. Strong Man comes in, and the rudos all run. They return, though Ephesto’s slaps are as ineffective as ever, only hurt his hand. Strong man rips Ephesto’s shirt (Ephesto wearing another shirt underneath?) and chopping him down. Mephisto tries to offer a handshake of friendship, but Strong man is more concerned with Mephisto running off the ropes. Mephisto’s shoulderblocks sends himself out. Averno tries chest slapping, and gets felled by one chop. Headlock, Strong man shot off, Mephisto trips him up, and the other two add a dropkick to the face. That blinded Strong Man, and the rudos take advantage for a beatdown. Panther is quickly finished by Averno's Devil Wings. Rudos need one more, and Toscano eventually finds his way in for the double armbar and pose. That'll do it.

Magadan talks about Ultimo Guerrero

3: Rudos still in control, and working over the two who aren't Strong Man. Toscano’s worked over for a bit, leading to a triple boot and group pose. Strong Man rushes in, and the rudos rush out. Strong Man talks them into coming back, and thinks he's agreed with Averno to make it one by one. What he's actually agreed to is to be jumped by the other two. Ephesto ends up cradling Strong Man from behind, and holding on for his life as the other two forearms Strong Man to wear him down, grab a hold of strong Man. All three men position themselves around Strong Man, and he roars and tosses them all away. Slam for Mephisto, slam for Ephesto, Slam for Averno. Panther and Toscano knocks Mephisto and Ephesto out, and follows with pescados. Panther does sort of a flying hipchecks to the shoulder with his. Averno and Strong Man in, Averno signaling for the crowd to cheer for him (no luck.) Averno tries chest slaps, but then finally figures he might want to try kicking. That works a little bit, so Averno adds some headbutts, bounces off the ropes, and gets caught in a choke. Press slam, Strong holding him up and pressing him three times. Fallaway slams Averno across the ring and shakes the camera, amazing how that works. One two three. Rudos clearly need to go back to the drawing board.

Replays and we're done.
