CMLL Guerreros del Ring on CAN52 #216 (01/09/2010)

Dancing. New mega mix of the three ones they always show.

In the open, they announce Hooligan in the opener, even though Bronco's visible in all of the clips. Would've thought they did that in opposite order.

Match 1: Molotov ©, Sensei, Starman vs Bronco, Dr. X, Nitro ©
Arena Coliseo, 01/03/2010

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. rudos

Winner: rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 11:45
Rating: OK. Nice to see some people I don't get to see a lot of (the whole tecnico team.)
Notes: notes

Before the match, Julio talks about Nitro. Nitro's still listed as a world trios champ. No one cares. Molotov just has his bodybuilding championship.

1: Dr. X and Sensei have some sort of issue. Oh, hey, the Old Man is here with the Tuareg, standing in the técnico corner for some reason. Técnicos tell him to go away. Finally, Dr. X and Starman get started. Dr. X waistlock, Molotov hammerlock, Old Man is leaving. It's not that bad. Dr. X ends up with an armdrag, but Starman gets a matching one from the mat. Starman double leg, toe hold on the mat, Dr. X rolls him onto his back for a pin, one, Starman rolls free. Front facelock, Dr. X reverses out into an armbar, up into a hammerlock, Starman jumping snap mare, and Dr. X rolls out. Starman slowly pursues him towards the entrance. No one's in any hurry. Dr. X tells him just to back to the ring, and so Starman does. Sensei and Nitro in. Circle. Nitro inside cradle, one – no. Lockup, Nitro hammerlock, Sensei headlock, Nitro slips free to trip him. Crowd kinda chanting for the Tuareg. Double armbar by Nitro, Sensei stands up, Nitro armdrags him over. Standoff. Circle. Reaching in for a lockup, double wristlock, Sensei kicks one leg free, and handstands into a headscissors. Nitro checks himself at the ropes. Lockup, Sensei shoved down, Nitro grabs one leg for a standing kneebar. Into a front facelock, Dueling armbars, Sensei kips up to his feet, armdrag out. Announcers talking about Hayabusa is more interesting than this. Nitro and Sensei shove, Nitro bails, Sensei start to chase him but gets bored with that. Are those empty front row seats? It is early so maybe those people haven't arrived, but this reason this arena is extremely dark is probably not because they want to hide the fans. Bronco and Molotov in. Bronco springboards in, waits for Molotov roll in, and immediately big boots him. Good idea, but Molotov just bounces off the ropes, catches Bronco's clothesline, headlock, shot off, back with a shoulderblock. Molotov poses. He's still retained his bodybuilding physique. Off the ropes, waved by, back with a flip into a hiptoss. Not quite as smooth as you'd like, but I couldn't do it. Molotov misses a dropkick, Bronco moving out of the way. Molotov forced into the corner and chest slapped. Bronco is much taller than Molotov, it's not even close. Corner whip, Molotov walks up the ropes and comes down with an armdrag. Bronco goes out, and Molotov follows with a tope. Nitro sets himself for a dive, starts Running, and gets kicked in the back by Starman. Missile dropkick drops Nitro. Dr. X takes out Starman with a running kick, but Sensei gets Dr. X with a top rope flying armdrag. Sensei forces a satellite armbar on Nitro, and Starman finishes Dr. X with a bodyscissors roll up. That's the fall.

Nitro argues with people in the front row in between falls. Replay of Molotov's tope and the finish. Not the most impressive tope.

2: Sensei starts with a flashy spin kick for the crowd's benefit, since he's no where near Nitro when he does it. Nitro observes, then kicks him down and stomps. Seems right. Of the ropes, over, under a Sensei kick, but Sensei gets him with a wheel kick on the next pass. Sensei springboard heel kick connects with Nitro's chest, and Nitro tries to get a foul out of it. Starman in, and booted down by Dr. X, Stomps. Chest slap knocks Starman into the ropes. Headlock, Starman hits him in the side and takes over the headlock, over, under, hiptoss sort for Dr. X. Dr. X stands near the ropes, and Starman pulls him over with a springboard headscissors. That was odd. Dr. X. slides out and falls on the floor, so Starman start his dive, then slides on on his chest just short of the edge of the ring to peer down at Dr. X. Bronco tries to sneak in a senton, but Starman moves, and Bronco sentons the apron – not a fun place to land back first. Starman lands on top of him, Dr X sings, Starman moves, and Bronco gets his partner. Nitro and Molotov in. Nitro off the ropes, Molotov drops down, Nitro just elbow drops him and clears off the técnico apron. That was a bit matter of fact. Let's look at Carolina. Rudos are in full control of the ring by the time they return. Corner charges for Starman, Dr. X working in his outside in dropkick, then giving Starman a snap mare to pull him away from the ropes for the pin. Non-traditional finish there. Nitro sets up Sensei for a Bronco top rope splash, and that's it. Nitro puts Molotov in a abdominal stretch cradle for good measure.

Rudos continue to work over técnicos during the replays.

Wow, actual new footage of edecanes.

3: Rudos still in control. Sensei takes a backdrop. Double hiptoss, dropkick to the face for Starman. Bronco bites Molotov on the hand. Those fingers aren't carrots! Devastating double axhandle. This match isn't doing much or me. Molotov gets sent out on a double boot. Crowd entertaining themselves with a Tuareg chant. Sensei takes a questionably low elbow drop. Triple boot for Starman. Molotov escapes a backdrop with a sunset flip (and escape the follow up dropkick), then Bronco accidentally dropkicks Dr. X when aiming for Molotov. Springboard armdrag sends Bronco out, and Molotov's cleared the ring by himself. His partners come in, and they tease the triple dive – instead, just Starman and Sensei do topes onto Dr. X and Bronco. Nitro gets up on the apron, and comes in with an armdrag on Molotov. Nitro miss a clothesline, Molotov blocks the next, Nitro sill manages to pumphandle slam him. Elbow drop, half crab/armbar, Molotov gives.

Match 2: Brazo de Plata ©, Shocker, Toscano vs Dragon Rojo Jr., Ray Mendoza Jr., Rey Bucanero ©
Arena Coliseo, 01/03/2010

  1. tecnicos
  2. rudos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 14:12
Rating: A typical Brazo de Plata match.
Notes: Shocker has a blow-pop. It's the trend of 2010! Porky is down on his back with both of his partners checking on him when the show joins the match for the captains announcement. Maybe he was rolling in? He's upright and fine after they announce the captains.

1: This match starts with Toscano and Dragon Rojo chain wrestling, so I know to safely ignore it. After they come to a standoff, it's Bucanero and Porky in. At least they're more amusing doing the same spots. Test of strength, Porky gets Rey's hands all the way to the mat and stomps on the. Rey is the one who's crying here. Porky can not take a drop toe hold. Bucanero spins on his back for control, but then offer to let Porky do the same. This is a bad idea. Dragon Rojo tries to warn him what a bad idea this, but Bucanero does not listen, and he gets flattened. Porky poses on his back, and Bucanero crawls to safety. Mendoza and Shocker in, and I can go back to ignoring this. Crowd is behind Shocker. Mendoza ends up slowly crawling out after taking Shocker boot to the face. Dragon Rojo almost knocks himself out trying to chop Shocker, and Shocker doesn't feel it anyway. Big boot for Dragon Rojo. Shocker blocks all of Bucanero's strikes and shoves him down. Pose. Match comes to stop for a moment. Toscano and Dragon Rojo back in. Announcers discuss Dragon Rojo being in France while they had the bodybuilding contest, still a sign of horrible planning. Toscano strips after dropping Toscano with a clothesline. I think Porky faints on the apron in excitement. Though he just may randomly fall down. Toscano ends up with a plancha on a flying armdrag and a quebradora on the next pass. Shocker and Rey Bucanero are very slow coming into break up the pin, and elbow drop Dragon Rojo as scheduled. Shocker and Toscano set up the rudos with splashes to set up Porky's back splash onto the pile.

2: More Bucanero and Porky to start. Porky cranks Rey's head around with a headlock, knocks him down with a shoulderblock, improbably gets Rey and Dragon with a headlock/headscissors takeover. I don't know how Rey got him up. Slowest bad double clothesline spot with Mendoza ever. Porky splashes both Rojo and Rey when they drop down too soon. Mendoza batters Toscano around with chest laps, then whips him to his partner to be kicked down. Beatdown from there. Dragon Rojo dropkicks Shocker questionably low. Porky is held in the corner for a long time. Whip, off the ropes, triple boot to the stomach, Porky takes a delayed bump and looks like a beached whale. (More than usual.) Mendoza holds him in a seated double armbar, and the others add kicks for a while. It seems to me Porky gives here, but neither the wrestlers nor the referee makes a deal of it. Bucanero adds a sliding headbutt, which didn't seem physically possible until just now. Match continues on. Shocker takes a backdrop and a Bucanero senton for a pin. Now the referees are calling the fall, so they clearly forgot Porky was captain and just counted two men down. Rey and Dragon get their shoulders raised and then Toscano gets dumped into a gutbuster by Rojo.

3: Rudos beat up técnicos around ringside, except Porky gets left alone and wanders a bunch. He could use the walk. Bucanero rolls Porky in and tries holding him in submission holds. Porky is too fat for a crossface, apparently. While Rey is figuring that out, Shocker stands outside the ring, grabs the laces on one of Bucanero’s boots, and ties him to the bottom rope! Rey is caught totally by surprise by this, and Shocker ignores Dragon Rojo hitting him to finish his prank. Bucanero gets free pretty easy, sadly. Rudos isolate Porky in the ring. Porky is the only guy in this group getting chants. Corner whip, Bucanero whipped in, but Porky walks out and splashes him. Belly bumps for the others rudos. Toscano comes in and punches Dragon Rojo in his abs a lot. That still does look to be his weak point. Toscano sets up Rojo on the top rope and goes for his mask. Shocker takes Bucanero around the outside of the ring and posts him. Porky and Mendoza stand around. Dragon Rojo gets free, and Toscano misses a dropkick. Big slap by Rojo. Shocker goes cross ring and pulls Mendoza in, leaving two sets of men in opposite corners. Técnicos whipped in each other, turn each other around, and grab the rudos in stalling holds. Bucanero and Porky in, Rey tries a sunset flip, Porky sits on him, one two three.

You watch the replays, I'm done.
