CMLL GDR - 05/24/08 (#131)
Recap: 10/15, 18/08

Open: Interviews by Vangelis (who points out that he is in fact a Nazi) and Axel (possibly not a Nazi.)

Match 1: Hiroka (c), La Seductora, Rosa Negra vs Goddess, Luna Mágica, Marcela (c)
Arena Coliseo, 05/18/08

  1. tecnicas
  2. rudas
  3. tecnicas

Winner: tecnicas
Match Time: 13:32
Approx Rating: Eh.
Other Match Notes: Time killing entrances. Goddess' Spanish makes Marco look so good. Seductora's gear makes it look like she's wearing a thong on the outside of her outfit. I'm sure that's the idea, I just don't know why that's the idea. Hiroka's promo is better.

1: JIP, at the end of Marcela beating up Hiroka. Probably the end of the end of the best part. Goddess is fine with Rosa Negra, and celebrates because he's thinks it's fine, and then Seductora clotheslines her by surprise. Goddess remains the slowest person running the ropes ever. She tries this leaning backwards over the ropes headscissors that doesn't come off right and then botched a fireman's carry escape armdrag. Crowd had been cheering for her originally but boos. Seductora looks ticked as she rolls out and stares from outside the ring. Luna's sequence actually gets over far more, though her big armdrag/headscissors spot is really no better. That sends Hiroka and Seductora out to take Goddess and Marcela sillas. Luna kinda hits Rosa with a dropkick to the knee, fireman's carry slams her, ties up her legs, and put on a limp armbar for the finish.

2: There's a promo for the 30 peso Arena Mexico show during the fall. Rosa and Marcela start off and are good, including a chop battle and a Marcela side backbreaker that looks like it kills Rosa. Beatdown starts before Luna can follow up. Of course they have Goddess run towards one corner, then set her back the other way for a camel clutch/missile dropkick spot. Marcela takes a double spinebuster in the middle of the ring, and Hiroka has the rudas drag her towards the corner to make her splash a  bit easier. Even though the captain actually got beat this fall, Seductora still puts Luna in a submission (blocked out by the fall graphic) and Rosa Negra gets Goddess with a Northern Lights suplex.

3: Tecnicas try all hitting the ring at once. Luna and Marcela get beat immediately, and Goddess appears to have no idea what to do once she gets in, so she just stands waiting for someone to hit her. There's that ad again. Last time I'm going to mention it. Why do they keep corner whipping Goddess? More corner clothesline for her. Luna gets slapped down in the corner, and Hiroka goes after her hair after that. Marcela doesn't go up at all for a double spinebuster, enough to make me think she didn't have any idea that's what was supposed to do. Luna gets corner whipped, hops up to the middle buckle, and missile dropkicks Seductora. (Seductora goes down, holding her left knee.) Comeback, including Goddess with some laughable face slaps. Marcela gets Hiroka good with a spinning backbreaker, then chases her out. The other tecnicas boot out Rosa, and the match comes to a halt for a moment. Hiroka has to walk over to Rosa to tell her to go back in, so something went off. Everyone goes to the tier corner, Rosa beats up Goddess for a while, more corner whips, and eventually the rudas all get dropkicked out so Goddess and Marcela can do top rope planchas. Luna is last, so everyone possible can catch her Asai Moonsault. She's still not much caught. It seems like the tecnicas should win this fall by count out, but they fool around on the outside for a while, Marcela climbs back in, and Luna throws in Hiroka (Goddess trying to stop her but being too late.) Marcela trips up Hiroka, puts her in a tapatia, and that's the finish. Okay. Replays.

Match 2: Ephesto, Misterioso II (c), Vangelis vs Axxel, La Máscara (c), La Sombra
Arena Coliseo, 05/18/08

  1. rudos
  2. tecnicos
  3. tecnicos

Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:05
Approx Rating: destructive
Other Match Notes: So I noticed this was a repeat from FSE, but what I didn't realize, until three days later when I was getting ready to put this up, was that was one of those episodes of CMLL on Fox Sports that FSE skipped. Oops! Guess I should watch this match then. We've got Vangelis and we've got Sombra in a match. That's quite a difference. Sombra has a bad fake laugh. Misterioso talks about Familia de Yoghurt, which needs to be nonfictional ASAP. Why is Mascara the Capitan?

1: Axel and Vangelis as they talk about Vangelis being a former light heavyweight champion, and try to talk up the former champions, which is not meant to make you think how far the belt went down but pretty effective at that. Rudos quickly start the beatdown. Sombra gets rammed tailbone first into the post. Triple boot for Axel. Double toe hold on Mascara? It looks a lot more like a cradle and someone should be counting a pinfall, but referees rule it a submission and that's how the end the fall. ODD.

2: Beatdown continues. Mascara is pressed into a gutbuster. Rudos stand around, taunting the crowd and waiting for Sombra to come in. Triple boot for him. Axel is held for kicks. Mascara rolls under a clothesline, setting up a rolling dropkick on Ephesto. Mascara topes Ephesto (rudos with a lazy double clothesline that misses), Sombra gets Vangelis with a top rope headscissors, rolls away from a Misterioso senton, goes to the apron, and tries a rope flip moonsault onto Vangelis. Vangelis is standing well to close to the ring, and Sombra completely goes over him. Vangelis is so not good. Axel gets the up an over sunset flip on Misterioso for the fall. Mascara hurried over to check Sombra after the dive (and to hit Vangelis), and Axel goes right out to check too. Replays. Misterioso's mask is completely untied, in case it comes up later.

3: Sombra sits on the inside of the corner as the fall starts, looking dazed and hurting, but not out of the match. Mascara and Misterioso start in, Misterioso getting nothing and Mascara getting him with a spinning headscissors and a spinning armdrags. They're done really quick, though they do kill some time with Misterioso running up the aisle to evade. You'd think they'd want go a little longer to give Sombra more time to recovers, seeing as he's still not standing on apron, just on one knee, holding his back and bent over in pain. Axel and Ephesto do fool around with a handshake, Ephesto oddly being the one to trick axel with the Rayo de Jalisco matador wave by. Axel looks eh versus Ephesto, then monkey flips Vangelis into the ropes (Vangelis grabbing his lower back on the landing.) Axel stands and watches as Vangelis runs towards him and clotheslines him, but then comes back off a reversed corner whip with a springboard headscissors. Misterioso tries his bunch, and Axel give shim a slow spinning headscissors into a spinning armdrag. Axel, slingshot top con giro gets Misterioso (and gets caught well. Vangelis and Mascara back in (Sombra looks worse and should've been taken to the back for sure now.) Vangelis misses a corner splash, Mascara kicks him, slams him, and Sombra pops back to life to top rope flip moonsault him. This time, that hits. Mascara gets Ephesto with the dropkick/casita combination, and that's the match.

Sombra quickly goes to the back while the other tecnicos celebrate. Replays Ephesto actually hit the ropes just as Sombra did his moonsault; that could've gone really bad. Time killing, and then the show ends at 4 to the hour.
