CMLL CAN52 GdR - 04/12/08 (#125)
Recap: 06/07/08
Intro: Shocker
Open: Promo by Shocker (who remembers he’s got old issues with Toscano). Promo by UG, who explains which level he’s on.
Outside the Ring: Mr. Aguila, part 2
Match 1: Loco Max, Ohara, Shigeo Okumura (c) vs Máscara Púrpura, Stuka
Jr. (c), Súper Nova
Arena Mexico, 04/04/08
Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 6:28
Approx Rating: quick but had it's moments
Other Match Notes: no entrances. Mima Shimoda out to yell at the
tecnicos before the match.
1: As we pick up (clip?), Purpura gets the better of Okumura for a bit. Purpura hiptosses Ohara out of the ring, Loco Max cheap shots, and Stuka comes over to help out. Loco is backdropped, both tecnicos end up on the ramp, and Purpura monkey flips his own partner into a tope con giro on Ohara. Crazy. Purpura ducks a clothesline, gets Loco with a reverse tope, and makes sure to get the Shooting Star Press in for the win. I don’t know where Super Nova disappeared to, because he wasn’t on the apron for the whole stretch, but he’s back in after the fall.
2: Joined in mid Super Nova/Ohara sequence. Nova is just finishing off his offense here, which probably means he didn’t’ get much in the stuff we didn’t see. Ohara is sent onto the ramp via headscissors dive rolls thru the ropes to follow him out there for fun. Stuka in next, and Loco manages to control with a chop, but Stuka comes back and monkey flips him from one corner to the opposite one. Stuka gets flipped to the apron, but comes back with a springboard flip armdrag to send Loco out. Loco moves out of the way to a dive, so Stuka cartwheels on the apron instead, then catches Loco with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Purpura and Okumura in. Seems like time for the rudos to get control, and that’s what they do, jumping Purpura from behind on a handspring and clearing off the apron to isolated on him. Purpura is whipped into the Kamehameha, and somehow does not have a hole straight thru him. Nova gets sent out and Okumura dropkicks him form the apron. Stuka back in, Loco gets in his crooked figure four and Ohara puts on an armbar hold for good measure. Rudos take their time letting go.
El Baul del Ring
El Arte de Catch
3: Beatdown continue for a good thirty seconds before Super Nova slips by a double clothesline and gets Okumura with a handspring back elbow. Ohara and Loco max briefly gets things under control, but Ohara’s yanked out, Nova dropkicks Loco in the knee, and Purpura comes in with a top rope armdrag to send Loco thru the ropes. Super Nova and Mascara Purpura high ten and run to the ropes to dive, but are immediately confused about who’s diving where. They sort it out and hit stereo Asai moonsaults on opposite sides of the ring, with Purpura adding a twist to his. Captains back in, and Okumura misses on the missile dropkick. Stuka lifts him up, drops him down, goes to a corner far away, and lands a big top rope splash for the win.
El Diseno: Starman
Match 2: Dos Caras Jr., Místico (c), Shocker vs Atlantis, Toscano, Último Guerrero
(c)
Arena Coliseo, 04/06/08
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:36
Approx Rating: fine enough with the usual finish
Other Match Notes: prematch promos by Mistico and Toscano, who welcomes
himself back.
Toscano’s been on Olimpico’s workout plan/diet, formerly known as the Tarzan
Boy diet. Rudos enter second, but jump
the tecnicos as soon as they’re assembled.
1: Guerreros beatdown. Mistico gets pressed into a double gutbuster. Rudos like it so much, they do it again. Mistico’s kept in and worked over by Ultimo while Shocker and Dos are handled by the other two. Mistico’s rammed into Dos’s midsection for fun. Guerreros taking time to annoy the crowd verbally. Mistico’s thrown out so they can do corner charges on Dos (who actually goes down to quick for Toscano to get anything in.) Toscano’s way to hyper to to do the Guerreros sit on Shocker. He seems happy to be back. UG holds Mistico over a catapult, and Toscano guillotine legdrops him for the fall. If he knew that was happening, no wonder he’s happy.
Q: ?Quienes participaron en la lucha de apuestas del 70 aniversario?
A: Shocker and Toscano, of course.
2: Rudos destruction continues. Shocker waves for support from the crowd with one hand, while the other arm is barred and Toscano’s stacking his own hand in this face. Rudos give him a drop toe hold, elbow drop combo. Dos ducks a double clothesline to set up Mistico’s spinning headscissors on UG. What do you know, a beatdown last about 30 seconds after the fall changes. UG rolls out, Mistico follows with a tope, and just barley makes it to his target. Tecnicos are too fired up to go down via clothesline, and rudos end up running into finishing holds. Yes, this means Dos holds Atlantis in a waistlock for a few seconds, lets go, and then puts on an armscissors. I am begging for someone to interview Dos Caras Jr. about that move. I need to know why he keeps doing it, it’s just nonsensical.
3: Atlantis and Shocker start, and don’t go before be Shocker slaps the life out of Atlantis. UG comes in to stick up for his partner and chops Shocker many ties, but Shocker gets the better of a corner charge. Double take over, dropkick sends Atlantis out, and Shocker and UG have a staring contest. UG knocks down Shocker with a chest slaps. Shocker gets up, and Shocker knocks him back with another. Shocker allies form the crowd, turn back, and ducks it this time. Body punches right cross combo. Whip, reversal, Shocker slide under, jumps on UG’s shoulder, Shocker/UG counter spot, Shocker ducks a clothesline and hits one of his own. Why does Shocker’s pants have a USA flag design on them? Toscano in, Toscano into to a backbreaker, into a backbreaker, into a backbreaker. Shocker has time to dance, because Toscano’s pretty well broken. Toscano’s pretty funny selling here. Dos tagged in, and it takes some cheating to do anything to him. Toscano gets Toscano with an enziguri while he still on the apron, Atlantis and UG force him into the corner, but Dos just stokes the crowd. Escape over a charge from be them, double hiptoss, spinning armdrags ends Atlantis out, UG misses a clothesline and takes a backbreaker, Toscano teases a plancha and doe sit when Dos finally turns around, Dos catches him, rocks him like a baby, and drops him. Toscano gets up, and gets dropkicked out. Dos fakes the dive and celebrates. Mistico in, Atlantis to oppose him. Mistico off the ropes, over, waved by and back with a handspring back flip. Mistico off the ropes again, springboard headscissors. Toscano in, Toscano misses a clothesline and gets headscissors out. UG in, and they stop to face off. Último Guerrero’s really had death feuds with everyone by now. Mistico headscissors UG out, and tries to escape, but Místico follows him around the ring and launches on him with a plancha. Back inside, the Guerrero are whipped into each other at a slow speed. Superkick/big boot combo to knock them out is much more violent. Double dives? Uh, no, Dos topes Toscano, but Shocker stops at the ropes and then tells Atlantis to go walk to a different side. Atlantis obliges (what?) and Shocker does the double jump plancha. That was not the best moment. Mistico and UG back in, Mistico quickly gets a ‘rana. One…two….NO. Yea, Tiger Hispano slow counting. Mistico off the ropes, La Mistica, UG throws off his own mask in the process. Tiger Hispano saw it the whole way, and still is calling it a DQ against Mistico. I guess Mistico just blocked Hispano’s view.
Guerrero celebrate like they’ve just won the trios titles. UG gets a ride around on Atlantis'’ shoulder. Shocker protests to the commission, good luck on that. We do get a replay from Tiger Hispano’s view, which shows he couldn’t see UG pull his own mask off – it looked like Mistico pulled it off with the headscissors.
