Recap: 03/17/08
Open: Maximo welcomes us to the show.
Intro: Guerreros and Negro do not talk about their match at all. No announcer stand up.
Match 1: Arkangel de la Muerte, Skandalo,
Virus (c) vs Máscara Púrpura, Mictlán, Stuka Jr.
(c)
Arena Mexico, 03/07/08
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 8:53
Approx Rating: I think I know Purpura's most favorite move
Other Match Notes: No entrances, of course. Rodolfo Ruiz and Tigre
Hispano are your refs for this one.
1: No clip? Possibly. Magadan is back with the announcers this week. Stuka and Skandalo battle over armdrags, then shoves. Both off the ropes, Skandalo ends up with a sunset flip, Stuka rolls free, flips for fun, and dropkicks Skandalo in the face. I guess the flip was to to throw off Skandalo's block. Stuka gets him with a quebrada armdrags, and knocks Arkangel down with a clothesline as he comes in. Whip, Arkangel back with a springboard plancha. Dropkick sends Stuka thru the ropes. Mictlan quick in for his team, slide under, Arkangel runs 3/4ths of the way to the ropes, stops there, and turns to fine Mictlan already on him with a rolling back elbow. The roll gave him extra height on the jump, you see. Virus in and drop toe holding Mictlan, then taking him out with a dropkick. Purpura, with new-ish gear (but still red) flips in over Virus, ducks a clothesline, and drops him with a springboard reverse tope. Off the ropes, running SSP hits, one two three.
2: No clip again. Purpura and Arkangel take their time getting the one going. Lockup, no, Arkangel just punches him down. Purpura ducks a telegraphed Arkangel clothesline, chop, whip, reversed, Purpura flips off the top rope to escape, Arkangel boots him down anyway. Arkangel looks at the crowd, then charges, coming up empty. Purpura shoves him down, grabs his legs, and catapults him cross the ring. Purpura looking for a reaction from the crowd and getting a slight one. Purpura handsprings off the ropes and over Arkangel's back to armdrags him out. Dive tease and pose. Virus and Stuka in, and avoiding each other off the ropes. Stuka eventually gets in a springboard armdrags. After another flip escape, he sends Virus out with an armdrag. Skandalo comes in to dropkick but misses, and gets chest slapped into the tecnico corner. Corner whip, Stuka spins, charges, Skandalo catches him and tilt-a-whirl, Stuka's legs bounce off the ropes and he armdrags Skandalo out. Stuka gets Arkangel with a rope grab headscissors to get all the rudos, then jumps to the apron. Arkangel moves out of the path of an Asai, so Stuka decides to cartwheel to the floor (!?) and get Arkangel with a headscissors form there. Stuka gets his turn to pose, then tags to Mictlan. Virus in for the other side. It looks like Virus wearing a thin mask instead of face paint this week, but I'm not sure. Chest slap battle is even. Mictlan trips Virus up, over on a leapfrogs, quick stop to whip him, Virus reveres it, Mictlan knocks him down with a shoulderblock. Mictlan off the ropes again, Virus hamstring kicks him into the ropes, and pulls him off with a back cracker! That works well. Rudos rush the tecnicos on that move, knocking Stuka to the outside and pummeling Purpura with chest slaps. He's quite a rag doll. Corner whip, Skandalo's charge misses, Purpura tries to go up and over on Virus, but Arkangel catches Purpura and holds him up in powerbomb position. Ark walks over to the corner, where Skandalo adds a clothesline for a Doomsday Device. Purpura flips over to his stomach before being covered, but is pretty well dead. Stuka comes in, Stuka takes a Gori Bomb. Virus covers him with one knee.

Inmortales: Atlantis vs Mano Negro, 10/01/93, 60th Anniversary
3: The beatdown goes on. Mictlan takes a whip, grabs the ropes, and dropkicks two men. Headscissors for Skandalo, the other man. Beatdown didn't go for long. Crowd seems to dislike Mictlan. Arkangel knocks him out with a shoulderblock, Stuka gets Arkangel with a dropkick. Virus comes in for his turn, but Stuka gets him with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Stuka drops Virus with a forward fireman's carry slam in position for Purpura (who's climbing the ropes), then rushes over to another side of the ring for a Asai Twisting Moonsault on Arkangel. Stuka ended up going a couple steps to the left of where Arkangel was, and maybe only their heads made contact. Back in the ring, Purpura has smartly waited till the attention is on him before trying - shooting star press connects! One two Skandalo breaks it up. Mictlan had a chance to cut him off with a clothesline but missed, and this is why you get booed. Mictlan does dropkick Skandalo out after the fact, and adds his tope con giro (which doesn't get caught either.) Back inside, Purpura's heading up again. Another SSP? Yes, he lands it good again! 3 for 3! One two THREE.
Tecnicos celebrate. Purpura probably could use to learn another flying move, but he's kinda amusing just like this. He will shooting star press till he can no longer shooting star press anymore.
El Diseno: Sensei! He likes Ninjas, you see. He appears to have painted eyebrows here. Either they grabbed him right after his match for this, or he just came from one, because he could use a shower. They spend more time with him than usual - the music even loops around. I guess they're just fascinated by the Japanese lettering.
Match 2: Atlantis (c), Sangre Azteca, Último Guerrero vs LA
Park (c), Negro Casas, Volador Jr.
Arena Coliseo, 03/09/08
Winner: tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 13:36
Approx Rating: Felt like more than usual
Other Match Notes: Volador has his belt, and a Bart Simpson as Volador
t-shirt. That's good, but does not beat the Homer Simpson as Mistico painting I
keep seeing at the GALLI shows. It's always odd to see Park dancing to music
other than the music we're hearing. Negro, wearing a NJPW t-shirt, challenges
Sangre Azteca to a title match in his pre-tape. They really need to do that
match at some point, I don't even care if Sangre loses and Negro pulls an
Octagon with the belt. YES! THEY GOT THE GUERREROS (cover) MUSIC! Life is now
100% better. Negro has his belt. There seem to be more photographers than
normal. Guerreros get separate entrances, but still mange to start the fight
while Atlantis is talking to children on the way to the ring. Sangre talks about
one day defending his title against Negro, but tonight they've got a trios
match. Ultimo and Atlantis talk about Volador and LA Park. You think Atlantis
and Park would be friends in mutual hatred of Dr. Wagner.
1: Brawl in progress, everyone taking their rival. We have to be informed of the announce crew again, for whichever reasons. Exploding is fun! Brawls to concentrate in the ring, with Negro even coming back for a little bit when the other guys forget to help him. Sangre does get control of Negro on his own with chops, so that's good. His partners hold Negro for a missile dropkick, which is also nice. Park is whipped into Sangre's boots, and Sangre goes to the middle rope to add his low blow dropkick - for the fall! Guerreros are happy to let Sangre do the work, I guess. Volador tries to help out after the fact, and is held down by two so Ultimo can get in a few shots. I can't decide if Volador's gear is purposefully Parka-like, or if I'm just reading way too much to the white lines on black.
Q: [Atlantis] Quien Fue Su Companero y Quienes Fueron Sus Rivales?
A: Mascaras & Cabelleras - Atlantis & Satanico vs MS-1 & Tierrra
Viento & Fuego
2: Guerreros still in charge. Negro takes the flying sit. Parka tries to save his nephew from further beatdown, but only serves to get himself booted. Volador corner whip, Sangre charge, Volador moves, and kicks away the other two. Backflip over the double clothesline, superkick to Sangre, and Volador comes after Ultimo while Negro takes care of Atlantis. LA Park takes Sangre on a tour of ringside. Volador unties Ultimo's mask, then kicks him down in the corner. Negro stomps Atlantis into ramp. Everyone reassembles in the ring without a pinfall, and we check out a LA Park fan (in full gear) in the front row than Sangre and Park's chest slap exchange. Sangre kinda wins, because Parka just walks to the corner after taking one. Sangre talks to the opposite corner, charges, wow, can't believe that didn't work. Park ends up hanging Sangre in the ropes and pulls him off in a back cracker, and it was totally a better spot twenty minutes ago. Scoop, Sangre lifted all the way up on Parka's shoulders, and slammed off. Sangre sits in the corner, and Park squashes him with a strange rolling back attack. Parka covers for the pin, and Negro quickly takes care of Atlantis. Ultimo starts to come in to help, but Volador takes him out with a dropkick.
El Arte de Catch
3: Ultimo quickly gets the better of Volador. Whip, big flapjack. Corner whip, reversed, Volador charges in, Ultimo gets him with a corner sunset flip one two no. Atlantis expresses discontent with the speed of the count. Both take their time, look at the crowd. Volador walks to the ropes, and Ultimo walks over, chopping him there. Whip, Ultimo tosses Volador up again, Volador comes down with a 'rana, one two NO. This isn't a singles match, but they're doing the dramatic slow count for some reason. Volador of the ropes, up an over sunset flip one two NO. LA Park requests a slightly faster cadence in harsh terms. Ultimo looks at the crowd chanting. Volador nodes his head and fixes his pants. Corner whip, Ultimo charges in, Volador moves, Ultimo takes the knee bump to the floor. Volador gets running for a dive, but Atlantis cuts him off with a running forearm. Other tecnicos get other rudos with bodyscissors cradles for two counts. Sangre slams Negro and sentons him for two, Atlantis powerbombs Park for two. Park's whipped into a corner, Negro's whipped in after him and sat on the top rope. Sangre's whipped in third, and eats a back elbow. Atlantis charges, his kick waved away, and Negro comes off the middle rope with an armdrag. Park dropkicks Sangre out, both tecnicos tease dives, but both rudos pull them out and post them. Negro's walking around perfectly fine one second later. Back to Volador and Ultimo in the ring, looking for crowd reaction more than each other. Ultimo points Volador towards the tecnico fans, Volador looks, and Ultimo chops him. At least they're playing off it. Corner whip, reversed, Volador rushes in with a clothesline, sets Ultimo on the top, and climbs after him - quick 'rana. Volador covers, one two NO. Negro and Park root on from their corner. Both guys stand up and look at the crowd. This time, Volador uses it as a distraction on Ultimo and gets in the chest slap. Corner whip, Ultimo sits on the top rope and taunts Volador into coming. Volador pauses, fixes hi knee pads and jumps up. Ultimo's totally ready for it - kick, front superplex! Dead for sure - one two NO. Both guys are drained. Their partners root them on from their corners. Volador hops on Ultimo's shoulders, spins around, 'rana one two NO. Both slow up. Volador up first and watching Ultimo, then stopping to rest on the ropes. Off the ropes, waved by, spinning armdrags send Ultimo out, and Volador follows with a tope con giro! (Nice catch.) Sangre charges Park as he comes out of the corner, but gets waved by. Sangre turns around, boots Park, but Park rolls with it and powerslams Sangre on his next charge. One two Atlantis break it up. Atlantis grabs Park, whips him, and brings him down with a tilt-a-whirl backbreaker. Bodyscissors cradle, one two Negro breaks it up. Negro puts on a step over armbar, and Sangre has to break that up. Rudos whip the tecnicos together, Sangre's whip gets reversed and Negro clotheslines him. Atlantis clotheslines Negro, Park clothesline Atlantis, and no one's left to clotheslines Park. Park holds Atlantis in abdominal stretch, while Negro casually puts Sangre in a small package (only after Sangre calls him over.) Ultimo breaks both the small package and the hold up. Volador in and missing a dropkick. Último tries to clothesline him, misses, and gets Tiger Hispano. Bestia Negra is busy with Negro Casas, and totally misses Ultimo tossing counting another 'rana try with a low blow uppercut. Bestia Negra starts to count, one two and Negro and Parka break up his count. Those are the only two guys who could get a way with that. Park kicks Ultimo down, Negro boots Atlantis out, Park dropkicks Sangre out (almost into Negro), and it's time for dives - silla on Atlantis, Parka tope on Sangre (with Park hitting a foot on the ropes but living.) Ultimo back up, Volador still down hurt. Ultimo charges on Tiger Hispano, since Bestia Negra it out checking on the dived guys. Volador sneaks behind Ultimo - low blow inside cradle! He might have the rope too - one two THREE.
They kinda ignored the captains there, but I forgot too. Ultimo can't believe such cheating was allowed. I can't believe that was only seven minutes. Tiger Hispano isn't hearing any complaints from Ultimo, since he did take a clothesline from him. On the outside, Sangre's getting a knee checked on. Replay of the finish - can we get a reverse angel to see if Volador has the ropes? We can hear the guys cut promos on each other. Ultimo is on another level, who knew. He seems more than willing to take Volador any time he's ready. Their microphones are only on in the arena, and don't sound good on TV, but the Volador/Ultimo is teased for sure. More replays, but never of the other side. Looks like the rudos fouled Volador while we were looking at them anyway.
That's it.
