CMLL GdR - 05/26/07 (#79)
Recapped: 05/27/07
Open: Miguel and Juan Carlos handle the open. Mictlan and Euforia & Nosferatu do the pre-match promos - guess they didn't plan on showing the main event from Arena Mexico?
Feature: Outside the ring with Negro Casas
Match 1: Euforia, Nosferatu, Virus (c) vs Brillante, Apocalipsis, Mictlan (c)
Arena Coliseo, 05/20/07
Winner: Rudos (2-1)
Match Time: 10:02
Approx Rating: Eh. There's been better recently.
Other Match Notes: Entrances. Apocalipsis is a rudo, but when they keep
booking Mascara Purpura for matches he can't make, these things happen.
Brillante's got the Mortal Kombat remix theme now. That music gets around. You
know, it'd be nice if Mictlan was good, since I think I see him every week.
Brillante does the promo here - I bet the other promo's done by Virus, since
that's who's left on that team. YES. I didn't notice he's got one of those
pupil-altering contacts in an eye now. Virus has gone loco, basically.
1: Is the start of the fall clipped? Well, of course. Brillante starts with Nosferatu. Holy crap, they changed the fall graphic animation and it scared the heck out of me and Monito. Magadan just appears out of nowhere to frighten us all. If Nosferatu keeps yelling after applying toeholds, he may actually turn me to his side. Nosferatu actually wins the exchange with a shoulderblock, but things grind to a half when Apocalipsis wants a tag or handshake or something, and Brillante has suddenly remember he's a rudo. So that's a no go. Virus, of course, is more than happy to shake Apocalipsis' hand. Hug! Virus raises Apocalipsis hand - and turns on him with a chop. Beatdown on. I hope this means this mean doesn't end with Apocalipsis turning on his team. He gets thrown around by his mask. Brillante gets the picked up, put down clothesline. Euforia keeps Apocalipsis from interfering while the other two beat up on Mictlan. They don't finish him, instead doing more to Apocalipsis - there's the shoulder powerslam/big boot combo, and Virus adds a senton for the fall.
Olimpico gives his mask to Daniel, who won the Olimpico mask contest. Olimpico's cutting a promo on Damian thru this - huh. I'm not quite sure why.
2: Beatdown goes on. Brillante gets punched and kicked a bunch. Mictlan reveres a corner charge into a backdrop to start the comeback. It's not the most efficient comeback - Brillante has to stand around waiting to do a dive on someone, because Apocalipsis decided to attack him. Apocalipsis and Virus end up back in, with Apocalipsis getting a fireman's carry into a powerbomb for the win. Apocalipsis is thrilled, Mictlan and Virus are like "Huh. Okay, I guess." And then they try to get the crowd to chant for Mictlan.
3: Apocalipsis and Euforia tease handshake, and Euforia just knocks him down. Apocalipsis firey babyface moves are armdrags and dropkicks. That sends Euforia out. Virus comes in, and Apocalipsis rallies back on him to get in a bad top rope plancha. Tags to Brillante and Nosferatu, who gets in a quick back elbow. Brillante gets flipped to the apron, but comes back with a slingshot headscissors. Springboard 'rana has a bit of a hitch in it. Brillante dropkicks out, and does a rope flip dive fake-out. Mictlan gets a headscissors, a powerslam on Nosferatu and a dropkick to send him out, and a backbreaker on Virus. Mictlan tries for a rana, but Virus turns it into a powerbomb. Rudos rush the tecnicos as Mictlan tries to recover. He's left alone in the ring against the three tecnicos and gets the full nelson twist - that's it.
Virus talks about being happy being a rudo. Someone's being carted out behind him, but we don't get a look at it. Well, Apocalipsis and Mictlan are left in the ring, so I guess it was Brillante? Let me check back - when Brillante was on the apron, Nosferatu kicked him off, and Brillante took a spinning tumbling bump off the apron. I guess he landed hard on his right shoulder? He doesn't move from there.
Match 2: Ultimo Guerrero, Atlantis vs Marco Corelone, Dr. Wagner Jr.
Arena Mexico, 05/18/07
Winner: Tecnicos (2-1)
Match Time: 7:50
Approx Rating: Not much of a match - an exhibition of spots with no
substance.
Other Match Notes: Entrances. Someone's finally gotten the advertising
video boards to match up with the entrances - or maybe they just do it with the main
eventers. Wagner has his title that he never actually defends. Evil Monkey is
out with Atlantis. Atlantis waits on the stage for Ultimo, though they get separate
entrances. They rush the ring, running thru Wagner as he's talking to people
just off the ramp.
1: Beatdown to start. Actually, giant at for Milano to start. I dunno. And then we look at Get Well Perro sign rather than the match. Looks the the tecnicos made a small comeback, but Marco misses the top rope plancha and that's end game - Wagner is immediately finished, and Ultimo suplexes Corelone into the ring from the apron for the other pin.
Oddly, no break between falls. Not that it was a long fall. Oh, wait, they're ringing the whistle to start the fall, and then going to break. Great.
2: Here's the big add for Milano again. 30% off! There's a big logo in the left hand corner, and a gigantic scrolling graphic on the bottom of the screen, and it's not going away. Atlantis is hanging out at the far end of the ramp - ah, he's going to imitate Corelone. The dive ends up being so bad, but it hits. Wagner was hanging out on the apron waiting for the tag, but now he'll come in and try to fight. Atlantis and Ultimo work him over as the graphic finally ends. Whip, double press slam into a powerbomb. Look at a kid in a Wagner match - is he more interesting than the man himself? Double corner whip, on Corelone, Corelone kips up out and over one, leapfrogs over each other, slips, leapfrogs over both, and hits the springboard clothesline on both. Wagner with hamstring kicks for everyone, and slams for everyone. Corelone gives Ultimo a tilt-a-whirl slam for a pin, and Wagner puts Atlantis in a tapatia. 1-1.
3: Evil Monkey has been laid out as we return. Guerreros try to protect him, and everyone ends up fighting on the ramp. Tecnicos still in control. Wagner tries to take off Atlantis' mask, CHECK. Whistle for the start of the fall blows about 100 seconds after we came back and everyone was already fighting. Now that the fall has started, Wagner will pose. Atlantis boos him in the head, Wagner poses some more and then gets the better of both Guerreros, though it doesn't look pretty at first. Running tornado DDT, CHECK. Let's look at the people in the crowd. Let's look at the Guerreros taking a break on the outside. Guerreros try to go 2 on 1 from the outside on Marco, and that fails. Lots of leaping - almost the same sequence repeated form the comeback, actually. Evil Monkey tries a plancha, gets caught, gets sat on the top turnbuckle, and gets a hipswivel from Marco. Marco fakes punching him and pulls back, but Evil Monkey flinches and takes this huge bump to the floor anyway. That sucks for him. Ultimo and Atlantis are unconcerned and walking out. Wagner and Corelone for a brawl, and knock them to the floor to they can do their big fives. Wagner does his tope con giro off the ramp, Corelone does a clothesline to the floor. Corelone seems to be pretty happy. Rudos end up back in the ring while Tecnicos pose outside. Wagner gets in, and charges into a drop toe hold. Corelone in, ducks a double clothesline, double goozle, double chokeslam is looking a little better. Wagner heads up top, poses some more, and splashes both guys. Wagner picks them up so Corelone can get in his move - superman dive, one two three.
Pose, lots of shots of women in the crowd, pose, Evil Monkey gets punched, that's it.
