Tiger Cota is taping up Silver Kain's wrists for him. This takes longer when Silver Kain has to stop to explain the storyline of his match and tie it into the show name.
Match 2: Dr. Wagner Jr. vs Silver Kain for the AAA World Heavyweight Championship
Centro de Convenciones, Ciudad de Madero, Tamaulipas, 10/01/2010
Winner: Dr. Wagner Jr.
Match Time: 17:28 (5:24+2:25+6:35+3:04)
Rating: OK, nothing special
Notes: Title match in the opener? Silver has his IWRG and AAA belts. Tiger Cota is with him as his second. Aerostar is back out with Dr. Wagner. Copetes is referee. No commissioner in the ring for the belt presentation.
Opening match chop exchange is interrupted by a crowd shot, and Wagner is dropping Silver with a walk up the ropes DDT when they return. Kick to the head, Silver rolls out, and Wagner follows with a tope. Replays.
Wagner back in before Silver, kicking him as he comes in. Chop fest. Wagner kicks Silver's leg out from underneath him, but lets him stand back up. Wagner in no hurry. Corner whip, Wagner charges, Silver gets his boot up, Wagner readjusts his head, charge again, gets another boot. Wagner is fixing his head again when Silver comes charging out. Couple kicks to the front, couple kicks to the back, jumping enziguri to drop Silver. Crowd is displeased. Silver rips at Wagner's eye choke. Headlock. Silver shot off, Silver back with a shoulderblock. Over, slide under, and up to dropkick Wagner. Wagner crawls out. Crowd shot. Silver and Wagner are both suddenly on the floor with the fans waving towels. Hmmm. They walk in opposite direction, and the camera stays on Wagner as Silver has some interaction with the fans. Silver, technically wrestler extraordinary, gets a chair. Wagner grabs a chair to, but Silver pokes his in Wagner’s stomach first. Chart shot to eh back, and in they go.
Back to ripping the mask. This time, Silver is a lot more successful in widening the eye poke. Wagner stands up, but Silver snap mares him back down to go back to work. Running kick to the face. Wagner hung on the ropes, and Cota chokes him to hold him there. Silver goes up, but it turns out he's just going up to pose. Aero – is not helpful, I guess. Silver takes Wagner back, hooks an arm around his head, ands starts to get his suplex. Wagner waves to the crowd with his free arm, but Silver still (eventually) suplexes him. One more suplex, a little faster, and chained into a bodyslam. Two count on the pin. Kind of a reverse surfboard applied.
Clip? Wagner suddenly is setting Silver King on the top rope and pulling him off in a cutter. Copetes takes the long way around to count, stopping to argue with Aerostar, and then counts – one two no. Silver out, and being fanned by Tiger Cota for a bit. Wagner gets frustrated, goes out to kick his brother, and grabs his chair while he's out here. All three in. Chair to the midsection, chair to the back. Once more to the back. Wagner's turn to rip up the mask. Tiger Cota argues this for a bit, and Wagner eventually stops ripping as the mask to go confront Tiger Cota. Break.
Wagner back in, and dropping Silver. Wagner goes to the middle rope to pose. Silver up and behind him. Fans try to warn Wagner, but Silver plucks him off on his back and drops him in an electric chair suplex. One two no. Silver chops Wagner in a corner, Wagner wanders to the next, chop, Wagner wanders to the next, I’m sensing a pattern. Wagner stops to wave on to the fans. Corner whip, corner clothesline by Silver. Silver holds on to his head, sits on the middle buckle and lands the seated tornado DDT. One of each so far. One two no – and Silver turns the kickout into a kimura armbar. Copetes completely unaware there's a submission on, as are the announcers and the fans. But at least we know who Silver has been watching. Slam, one moonsault, two moonsault, Wagner moves out of the way of the third. Casita – where is Copetes? Slow count – one. Two. Kickout. This promotion. Wagner confronts Copetes. Silver spins him around and sweeps out a leg.
Clip again, and Silver has Wagner in the corner. Wagner just shrugs it off and confronts Copetes, but Silver grabs him. Corner whip, Silver charges, Wagner moves, and Silver takes the hamstring bump of the corner. Wagner kicks him right in the head, once more to send Silver out, and follows with his tope con giro from the apron. Both wrestlers hang around the outside and take in waves from their seconds. Silver forearms Wagner from the apron as he charges, and heads up. Missile dropkick connects. One two kickout. Wagner shaking and sticking out his tongue. Silver still up to his feet first . Powerbomb. One two kickout. Silver nodding his head. I guess he has a plan here. Silver kicks Wagner, but Wagner refuses to go down. After the second, Wagner catches the boot. Dragon screw. Wagner Driver! Is that it? Wagner covers, but Copetes I paying attention to Cota. Down to count – one two kickout. There's actually been worse counts in this match. Wagner of the ropes, Tiger Cota grabs the leg, Wagner turns around to discuss, and Silver King clotheslines him. Silver King uses the Wagner Driver! One two NO. Aerostar almost came into the ring to break that up. Aero and Copetes argue it from the apron. Both men up. Wagner forearms, off the ropes, right into a Wagner powerslam. One – no, kickout before Copetes even had to count.
Wagner up to the ropes, Silver King charges, Wagner moves, and Silver wipes out Tigre Cota with a dropkick. Aeorstar in? He charges Silver King, who throws him into a tope con giro on Cota. That was kind of pointless, Tiger had to get up quick just to get knocked down again. Wagner slightly distracted Copetes there. Now Wagner charges Silver, Silver powerbomb, feet on the ropes in the most obvious fashion possible, one two no. Silver off the ropes, waved by, back with a sunset flip, Wagner rolls thru, kick to Silver's head. Wagner limps to the ropes and looks at the fans. Silver rolls out? Wagner goes to the apron from his dive again. Tiger Cota wanders over to help catches, except neither he or Silver really catch Wagner, who splits the middle. I guess they were both supposed to catch him, because they don’t' really sell the spot, instead picking up Wagner and knocking him back first into post. Aero pounds Tiger Cota for a bit, but Copetes gets tin the middle and ejects Aerostar. Cota rolls Wagner back in. Silver makes it on his own. Copetes is busy with Aerostar, so Cota stays in to stomp. Copetes must've done poor job keeping the cruiserweight away, but Aero runs back in the ring to fight with Cota. They grapple near the ropes while Copetes treys to get in between. They all head out, while Wagner reverses a suplex into a small package. No one there to count, though Copetes has finally ejected the seconds. Wagner gets up to complain to Copetes, and gets hit in the back again. Silver King Death Valley Driver. All the way up, no one home to for the moonsault. Wagner pops up, then goes back down tocover, one two [holds up] three. Wow, that was a non-finish.
Wagner dedicates the match to his father.
Konnan and his blurred shirt give a pep speech to his team for the cage match. Electroshock seems to not be listening and bored by all of this. Zorro & Hernandez have matching shirts, how nice for them. Konnan puts Zorro in charge in the match, which confuses and upsets LA Park. Electroshock does some good eye rolling here.
Damian, Halloween and Konnan talk trash about 187. Konnan's naughty t-shirt is a Damian/Halloween one, but we're not allowed to see the middle word on the back. Konnan's speech of course involves the famous people he's fought.
187 retort, in sparkly black and white. Nicho has his golf club. I guess he's just wearing his robe from now on?
Match 2: Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario vs Damián 666, Halloween, Konnan in a hardcore rules match
Centro de Convenciones, Ciudad de Madero, Tamaulipas, 10/01/2010
Winner: Joe Lider & Nicho el Millionario
Match Time: 13:29
Rating: a bloody mess
Notes: Entrances. Piero is ref, the first non-rudo referee on this show.
Rudos immediately use the numbers to hit the técnicos with weapons. Damian lays a chair on Nicho and hammers it with the golf club. Wouldn't it be more effective without the chair? They do the same thing with a garbage can. Maybe it's psychological warfare. Damian uses the edge of a lid to cut Lider's head. This is just going to be hardcore spots which will be ignored later, I should stop typing now. 187 are totally destroyed, and then Nicho just kicks Halloween when he puts his head down too soon to start a comeback. Nicho punches Konnan a bit, but Halloween puts Nicho back down with a lid shot to the head. Break is soon after.
Should've known better, comeback is after the break. Konnan hits Lider in the top of the head, Lider gets back up and just ducks the next one. Dropkick into the chair into Konnan, who goes down in a lump and I hope he doesn't have to get up again. Again, Halloween puts the end to this little run with a chair shot. FdT not so concerned to try a pin, but this feud is not exactly about getting pins. Halloween goes out and brings in a metal board with circular holes and barbed wire strung thru the holes. This one won't end well. Halloween whips Lider towards it, Lider slides to a stop, Halloween charges (NO) and Lider tosses him into the barbed wire board, which breaks. That's his own fault. Piero tires to free Halloween, but that takes some work to get him al untangles (and the board falls on Halloween again.) Meanwhile, Nicho brings in a standard table. Lids shots to Damian and Konnan. Konnan sent into a chair wedged in the corner. Lider wraps barbed wire around an arm, presumably because that's the stupidest thing he can think to do at the moment. Barbed wire punch to Damian, and multiple shorter punches. Hey, look, Damian's cutting himself on camera. Halloween and the other three do stuff but I'm too busy laughing about that. Lider gets in his middle rope backcracker, then suddenly realizes he doesn't need that barbed wire on his arm any more. Konan, Lider, Halloween and probably Damian are bleeding, but Nicho is not, in case you want to know who's the smart one here. 187 try double suplexing Halloween and Damian from the apron thru a table in the ring, but they’re not close enough and it just looks bad. Timing is off too. Halloween's legs hit the table, then Damian is sort of suplexes on the table and sort of suplexed on Halloween.
Lider suplexes thru the remains of the table, and both guys immediately starts crawling around, not even bothering to sell it for a second. Piero cleans out the ring a bit as the 187 gets light tubes. Konnan is the smart one now, getting out of there as the other four use them on each other. Halloween and Lider combine for a horrible sunset flip bit to set up another light tube shot. Damian and Nicho go out so Damian can check Nicho into the crowd and they can stand on the barricade for the spot. Nicho was smart enough not take a light tube. Before they can do whatever they’re trying here, Damian slips off the barricade and falls down. Nicho tries to pose as if he pulled off something and slips and falls down too. This is quite a match Damian throws Nicho into another section to over up. Break.
Lider pours out thumbtacks. Lider, Halloween and Damian all go into them, though the Perros are wearing t-shirts. Lider gets crotched on ladder rungs. Konnan is staying way out of this, which even the announcers have noticed. Damian gets thrown through another barbed wire table, this one on the outside. Lider Death Valley Driver Halloween into a light tube. Konnan comes back in, so I guess we're close to the finish. Lider belts him in the face, Nicho double arm DDTs him into a trash can, one two three. Wow, really close.
Lider sets Halloween in a chair, and Nicho pours the contents of a Draino bottle down his throat. Halloween is really bloody. Halloween goes into convulsions. Nicho collapses ion the mat, while Lider stumbles around. Chessman runs out, grabbing the golf club from a guy near the entrances. Chessman waits, waits, Nicho swings and misses, and Chessman clubs a lid in his face. Superkick for Lider, and Damian and Chessman beat up 187. Nicho makes his own come back on Damian and Lider pushes Chessman out of the ring. That was odd. After some replays, Chessman is back in the ring and clubbing Nicho. Club shots to a can and a chair laid on Nicho, then a lot of clubbing forearms.
Video from the Antonio Pena Mass and more interviews from after.
Replay of the “Octagon's Too Hurt To Be In The Cage Match” vignette from last week.
Video teasing Mesías in the cage match, but then showing him hurt backstage and unable to participate. Hooray for explaining that.
In an interview, Octagon definitely says there were two attackers. The guy who actually the did the damage was unseen, and the guy on the bike was a distraction.
La Parka and Heavy Metal yell at each other from a short distance. They agree that even if it's just them two, they're going out there anyway, for Antonio Pena. Heavy Metal has a electric guitar.
Match 3: Cibernético, Heavy Metal, La Parka Jr., Octagón vs Electroshock, Hernandez, LA Park, Zorro in a cage match
Centro de Convenciones, Ciudad de Madero, Tamaulipas, 10/01/2010
Winner: Team AAA
Match Time: 24:17
Rating: decent angle, not a good match
Notes: Graphics list the team as above. They pick up with the cage down and Metal entering and posing on the stage. Electroshock walks out behind him, and utterly kills him with an accousting guitar to the back of the head. BRUTAL. Electroshock drags Metal to the ring, smashes him into the side of the cage, walks him around the ring, and slides him in the door. Electroshock follows behind, door is shut, start the match.
Copetes locks the door, which seems unnecessary if more people are coming. Metal tries to fight his way back, but Electroshock wears him down and goes to work on his forehead. He's already bleeding from the forearm. Announcers explain it'll be 5 minutes before the next person comes in and, wonder of wonders, they actually have an onscreen clock for this. Judging from the clock, they started that time when Electroshock attacked Metal on the stage, so it's about 4:15 now. That's plenty of time for Metal to make a comeback so he makes it right away, then stops to pose on the middle rope. Electroshock plucks him off the ropes, Metal reverses into a headscissors submission, but Electroshock escapes and pounds him down. Electro poses, Metal takes him down. Think this will be going this way for a while. Metal, already with a face full of blood, holds Electroshock down for a while, but Electroshock insists on getting up, whipping Metal, and spinebustering him down. Rey de Reyes hold. Electroshock lets go, and Metal clotheslines him that full speed. Metal uses his extra shirt to choke Electroshock for a while. 2 minutes to go. Electroshock breaks free and forearms and stomps Metal a bunch. Metal immediately gets up and kicks Electroshock. No one's big on selling in AAA. Long hanging from the cage leg chock by Metal. They shouldn't have given these guys five minutes. I hope they don't do their hair mach in a cage. Crowd can't see the clock, because they don't count down, just boo as the stalling goes on.
A loud horn goes off, and Zorro's music starts playing a bit later. Zorro immediately goes after Metal. Now the duration is down to a single minute, and seems have started as soon as Zorro is in the cage. How peculiar. Giant swings/dropkick on Metal. Zorro changes to his Spain jersey in between the promo and this match, how odd. Octagon is shown shaking his head from the Pena seats. Rudos hold Metal down, content to do nothing. That actually turned out to be 2 minutes, but from the initial siren, and Zorro didn't even start entering until 15 seconds after that.
Parka dances on the stage. He's not that worried about Metal that he can't shake his knees a bit. Zorro is waiting for Parka as he comes in, but Parka is a clothesline a fire on both guys for a bit. Quebradoras con giros for everyone. Break as Parka poses.
Only half minute to go, but the técnicos are at least in total control. Metal is arguing with Tropicasas about something.
Hey, familiar music. Parka has to out-dance Parka before he comes to the ring. Park looks on approvingly at people cheering him. Parka gets in the cage, and gets to work – strut! Dance! Powerslam on Parka. Punches and head smashing. The back of Metal's shirt is bloody, that's how much he's bleed. Rudos content to mostly stomp, except for Park slamming the back of Parka's head into the mask. Looks like he ripped the top of his mask off too.
Big cheer for Cibernético's music. Joaquin Roldan is shown watching backstage, shaking his head. But nothing happens. It's not easy to see, but a man comes out and stands near the entrance.
Instead of waiting a couple minutes, they just sound the buzzer again, and they play Hernandez's music. Everyone's confused about why Cibernético didn't appear. Hernandez doesn't either, and they play the siren a third time. This time, Hernandez actually turns up. Well, that couldn't have gone right. Hernandez immediately goes to the top rope. For some reason, Parka is standing on the middle rope and being kicked by Parka while he’s on the top rope. Metal runs into a belly to belly suplex, and Hernandez lands a top rope splash. Park chokes Parka on the top rope. Octagon shaking his head at ringside again. Parka standing on near the top of the cage and taunting people. Parka gets free enough to pull at him, but Park kicks him down.
Horn goes off again. Again, cut back to Joaquin watching it on the one monitor back stage. This time, he takes off the headphones, and urgently waves at people to go on. The music of La Secta plays – for real – and out run Cuervo and Ozz. They don't use the door, climbing in to the cage and standing on the top rope. Electroshock goes after Ozz as he stands on the top rope, but backs away. Missile dropkick for Zorro, missile dropkick for Electroshock. Crowd is quiet and has absolutely no idea what to make of this. Secta are wrestling in their big white shirts and goth outfits, for whatever reason. Package flipped into a rolling kick from Ozz. Announcers seem completely unsurprised by this turn of events.
Clip. People are trying to get out, and people are pulling each other down. Hernandez sends Ozz flying with his shoulderblock, and gives Cuervo the border toss into the cage. Break.
Rudos in control firmly down, just assaulting the técnicos. Announcers are so impressed with Ozz & Cuervo that they’re wondering where Cibernético is. Rudos in on hurry to actually escape. Hernandez climbs up, but it turns out it’s for a top rope clothesline on La Parka. Somehow, the rudos top paying attention to Metal, who climbs up undetected and goes over the top. Metal falls from the top of the cage to the floor, which is pretty obviously how he messed up his ankle. He wasn't trying to do it, but he didn't have a good grip as he go over the top of the cage, tried to grab part of the cage around a corner, and never got it.
Metal falls right in front of Octagon, who’s celebrating at first, but then concerned. Piero urgently waves for help, and the ringside doctor (actually at ringside) and the other refs come over. In ht meantime, Zorro climbs up top. He sits on top, posing, and people with bad aim try to throw things at him. Zorro is far more careful climbing down.
Rudos still dominant in the ring. Electroshock clumsily climbs up. La Park springboard twisting senton for no particular reason. Electroshock is half dead getting over the top, but makes it.
LA Park rips up Cuervo's shirt. Ozz is slingshotted into the side of the cage. Cut to backstage, where four motorcycles are behind driven into the arena. On the back of one of them is a man in a motorcycle helmet pained up to look like a skull, and that's the motorcycle driver from before. He hurries towards the ring. Those motorcycles are loud, and they don't quite turn off the sound quick enough Skull mask runs out and grabs onto the side of the cage. He starts to climb up, but keeps looking aback at the fans. I turns out he's waiting for Octagon to come over and pull him off the cage, which he finally does. Octagon chops and kicks Skull Mask around. Octagon slaps the side of the helmet, and the skull mask actually grabs the side of his head, which is funny. Skull mask kicks Octagon away. Ghost Rider reaches into the crowd to grab a chair, but the fans actually shove him away (!) and the only thing he gets is pelted with drinks. Octagon slowly chases the driver around. Cibernetico's music plays, as Ozz & Cuervo both leave the cage. Both guys bolt for the cage wall so fast, that must've been their cue.
Cibernético carefully hops down the ramp, confronting the motorcycle driver. He takes off rather than fight, and goes back thru the stage. There's a brief shot of the guy on the stage during this. Cibernético climbs in the cage and confronts Parka. Parka has his hair pulled in front of his face, because his mask is all ripped up, but still manages a stare down. Cibernético shoves Parka out of the way to punch Hernandez and Parka. Garra Cibernetica for Hernandez, Garra Cibernetica for Parka. Cibernético says something to Parka, and they both climb up. Both over the same time, that's the win.
Hernandez and Park are left in the cage, confused. Cibernético goes back to the stage, where he poses with the mystery man for roughly a second before they both go backstage. Confetti shoots out into the ring, where only the rudos are left. Parka walks back to the stage.
Antonio Pena video package.
