AAA on Televisa #929 (03/13/2010)
Recap: 03/14/10
Previously: MOVES. Mini Vipers beat up Air Force. Guapito was destroyed, and Decnnis screwed La Hermandad. Alex Koslov may have earned #1 contendership for the Reina de Reinas title, but challenges for the crusierweight one. Silver King yelled at Pimpi, and the Legion defeated Pimpi. Electroshock held people in various submission holds and ask for a title shot.
Throughout the show, there are flashbacks to 02/12/10 (very clearly dated, as if that date has a special meaning), where Dorian hung out with Konnan a club. Dorian doesn't want his family to find out, too bad this at least a two camera shoot and they're showing it on TV.
Match 1: Aerostar, Laredo Kid, Súper Fly vs Billy Boy, Decnnis, El Brazo
Gimnasio De La Unidad Deportiva, Toluca, Estado De Mexico, 02/18/2010
Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 10:14 (4:38+5:36)
Rating:not as good as the names might have suggested.
Notes: Tail end of the entrances, with Guapito leading a man in a white untied straight jacket, and a blue paint over his face and bald head, to the ring. This is Hilario, Guapito's new security. The best Guapito could do is an insane asylum escapee; the economy must still be rough all over. Also, someone clearly had fun going to see the Blue Man Group recently. Guapito pulls Hilario away from the crowd by the strap that normally would be tying Hilario up. Billy Boy seems unhappy, so nothing much has changed there.
Laredo and Billy start with mat work, and somehow this doesn't get cut out. Billy has new gear; I don’t know if I'd be spending money on hew gear this point. Ah, there's the clip. They were actually doing good. Aerostar in with Billy, and sending him out with a headscissors Guapito comes in for who knows what reason and gets powerslammed. Brazo tries to break it up with a splash, and splashes his small friend instead. This is why you lost your hair! Hilarious doing a poor job of protecting Guapito, but pulls him out to safety here. Brazo runs over Super Fly in the ring. Whip, Decnnis accidentally whiffs at a kick from the outside, Super Fly slowly runs into Brazo, Brazo does nothing, Super Fly turns around and handsprings kicks Decnnis. Back flip for fun, and then standing around waiting for Brazo to do something. Not so good. Super Fly gets in a backdrop escape armdrag sent Brazo out. Billy in, Billy headscissors. Guapito in again,, putting up the double stop sign. Super Fly relents, and Guapito steps out to the apron to – yell at the rudos? Who knows, Super Fly kicks him off the apron (and no one catches him, poor job Hilario is doing here!) Super Fly fakes a dive and that's it. Laredo and Brazo, crowd goes not go for the Brazo chant. Whip, Brazo charges the corner, Laredo moves out, Brazo hits, it, then Laredo springboard – rolls into nowhere actually, Brazo just moved out of the way. Decnnis slaps Laredo and grabs him from behind, but Laredo ducks down and they both backdrop a charging Brazo. Laredo armdrags Decnnis, but now Brazo grabs him from behind. Billy in, charging, and Laredo and Brazo dropkick him. Decnnis charges, just Laredo ducks, and Decnnis clothesline Brazo into a sit on Billy. That sort of worked, though the crowd didn’t appreciate it. Billy and Brazo just leave, and Laredo tries for a double spin armdrag on Laredo, but losses and falls to the mat. Decnnis kicks him while he's down. Whip, Decnnis picks up Laredo for who knows what, but ends up with a front powerslam. Good time for the beatdown. Punches all around. Guapito to the middle rope, and Decnnis helps him carefully stand on the top rope. This process takes some time. Splash onto Laredo. Everyone else cleared out. Corner clothesline from Laredo by Billy, Decnnis take an odd route for a running kick, and break before Brazo can do anything.
Super Fly in, big backdrop for him. Brazo sits on top, but rolls off rather than staying for a cover. Oh, right, Pepe Casas is ref, and has been pretty invisible here. Aerostar in, and Decnnis just barely pulls off a nudo lagunero. I like Decnnis, but this is Leono-level. While Aerostar is held up, Billy kicks his back, and Brazo splashes him. Laredo back in. Whip, backdrop. Super Fly back in. Someone got bleeped, which is more exciting than this match right now. Corner whip, rudos whip Guapito so poorly, he immediately falls down. This is how it fell apart last time! Anyway, Super Fly stomps him, and gives Decnnis the worst superkick of all time. It was maybe as high as Decnnis' pants level, and Super Fly fell down while delivering it. Técnico do a kick punch comeback, with Hilario rescuing Guapito and making faces at the camera.
Everyone goes back to their corners, and Laredo and Billy stat fresh. Billy gets a near fall off a suplex, but Aerostar breaks it up with a dropkick. Aero gives Billy a slow Michinoku Driver, and Decnnis breaks up that pin with a harder dropkick. Decnnis gives Aerostar a Gori Special and tries to hook on a leg submission but its Super Fly's turn to break it up. German suplex, and Brazo breaks it up. Brazo sit – his third of the match! - and then a double underhook submission. It is so cold, you can see Brazo's breath as he yells. That must really suck. Laredo breaks it up with a walk up enziguri. Leg kick, off the ropes, Billy trips him up. Super Fly dropkicks Brazo out the other side. Of the ropes, Super Fly dive – oh no, he hit the bottom rope on his springboard, then jumped neck first into the top rope. He didn't go over – he didn't come CLOSE to going over – and fell hard on the mat. Brazo yanks him out of the ring and throws him to the floor as the crowd hoots. Decnnis set up his own dive, but Aerostar cuts him off with a springboard plancha. Decnnis shoulderblocks, but crotches himself on a running kick. Aero springboards dropkicks him out, and Decnnis hurriedly rolls Super Fly out of the way (still hasn't moved from where Brazo left him.) Aerostar springboard, no hands reverse tope connects. Super Fly ended up nearly rolled under the announce desk, and finally starts moving on his own after that dive. Billy and Laredo in, Laredo slamming Billy and going to the corner. Guapito is hanging on the apron on that corner, so Laredo blasts him with a kick, sending Guapito flying from the ring. I don't know how that little guy isn't always using a walker. Laredo 450 splash, one two three.
Guapito, apparently OK, walks in the ring and yells at Aerostar for Laredo Kicking him. Looks like Hilario attacks him, but the camera misses it, of course. Laredo takes a look, keeps walking for a bit, then protects Aero after Hilario has already slammed him. Hilario has been pretty ineffective here, but he carries him off.
Joaquin Roldan, in a badly mic segment, tells Marco, Jack, Rocky and Tiger – something. Dorian is also there. Maybe they'll make it clear later.
Joaquin Roldan, now in ring, talks about Rey de Reyes. He recaps the one on one match with Cibernético and Konnan at Guerra de Titanes not working that way. Cibernético is introduced, and is in the middle of ranting about Konnan when Konnan appears. Somewhere in here, they agree to a lumberjack match. Konnan charges Cibernético and loses badly. Zorro and Alex hit the ring, and serve as punching distracts for Konnan to get in a cheap shot. Chessman's appeared form the other side of the ring, somehow, and helps stomp. Joaquin yells, but wisely does not physically get involved. Roldan waves for people to come down – ah, this was what the meeting with the técnicos was about – but no one's coming. Finally, La Parka Jr.'s music plays and he makes the save with a chair, but not before Alex has sandwiched Cibernetico's knee inside a chair and dropped a knee on it. Cibernetico's left leg is hurt and he ha to be stretchered out. Parka actually swings and gets Zorro, and they have a moment of swinging at each other before the Legion takes off. Cibernético is taken all the way to the back and loaded into an ambulance, where Parka yells at Roldan a bit.
Dorian explains to parka that he was told to have no one go out there – no go mean no go. Joaquin walks in, and that's clearly not the instructions he thought he said. Dorian says Cibernético is the cancer and Konnan is a good dude. Joaquin disagrees. Parka angrily hits things.
Match 2: Mascarita Sagrada, Mini Charly Manson, Octagoncito vs Mini Abismo Negro, Mini Histeria, Mini Psicosis
Gimnasio De La Unidad Deportiva, Toluca, Estado De Mexico, 02/18/2010
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 7:38
Rating: OK
Notes: Entrances, hut just because the Vipers beat up Octagoncito as he's walking out. Abismo take care of him, as the others spin Sagrada round by his ankle. Where's Charly? Oh, he's already on the outside.
After the whistle, Octagoncito takes the backbreaker/legdrop combo. Charly is kicked around, then dropped near the middle of the ring. Mini Abismo negro has to go along way to land the frog splash, but he's good. Big overhead belly to belly on Sagrada. Well, it's Sagrada, so it can't really be that big. Octagoncito side steps a corner charge, Psicosis throws himself thru the ropes (really, not even near the corner so Octagoncito didn't have to miss much.) Mini Abismo misses his own charge, then misses on the slap and knocks down Histeria. Octagoncito and Charly grab a rudo each. Spinning slam on Histeria, dropkick for Abismo. Charly runs Histeria across ring to send him into a buckle. Whip, clothesline for Abismo. Sagrada's just sort of stood around here, but he does get to dropkick Abismo out. One ones suddenly, down to Charly and Histeria. Histeria celebrates after landing a single clothesline. That's what happens when you don't get in much. Charly reverses the next whip into a short clothesline. Corner whip, Charly flipped to the apron on the charge, Histeria kicked away, and Charly off the top rope with a flying armdrag. Headscissors sends Histeria out. Sagrada and Psicosis in, Sagrada getting in a bodyscissors armdrag and backdrop escape armdrag. Histeria in, and escaping a faceslam to kick Sagrada to the ropes. Corner whip, reversed, Sagrada flipped to the apron, Sagrada climbs up top, off the ropes with a headscissors. Sagrada does a front handspring as a dive fake. Tags to Octagoncito and Mini Abismo. Octagoncito spins Abismo out with a shoulderblock, then leaps off his chest on the next pass. Jarocha armdrag, spinning headscissors into an armdrag sends Abismo out. Octagoncito waiting no time - thru the ropes top con giro! Psicosis and Charly in, Psi shaking Charly with chops. Corner whip, Charly moves out of the way at the very last second, Psicosis brushes past him to hit the post on the way out. Didn't look good, but Charly's springboard plancha to the floor works. Sagrada and Histeria in, spinning armdrag into a spinning headscissors. Asai turning plancha to the floor, but Histeria catches Sagrada and throws him into the apron. Octagoncito and Abismo back in, Octagoncito fights off Histeria once, but his 'rana is blocked before he even gets up and Abismo sort of spinebusters him. One two no. Abismo picks up Octagoncito again for a powerbomb, but Octagoncito uses the momentum to go over the top for a sunset flip, one two no. Octagoncito shoulderblock, Histeria sneaks in to kick Octagoncito before he can get to the ropes, Abismo powerslam. No cover, Abismo sits Octagoncito up, dances around, goes for the big kick, Octagoncito ducks under, and Charly kicks Abismo to stop him. Sagrada with a rolling faceslam and Octagoncito adds a spinning DDT, but that looked a bit off. Octagon covers, but both rudos break it up. Piero needs to get control of this match, and he's choosing to do it by yelling at the técnicos. Abismo is out on the mat, Octagoncito is kicked out, and Charly and Sagrada charge past Piero. Northern lights suplex on Histeria, headscissors cradle on Psicosis. One two double kickout. Crowd whistling, either at this count or that the near falls have been going for three minutes now. Charly and Psicosis left in, Psicosis misses a clothesline, Charly grabs a waistlock, Psicosis tries to elbow free. He finally gets it, just in time for Octagoncito to kick Charly by mistake. Abismo takes advantage of the confusion, kicking Octagoncito in the back of the head, grabbing a waistlock, and yelling to Psicosis. Psicosis off the ropes, his kick hits, and Abismo finishes with a German suplex. And that is the finish – one two three.
Alex Koslov happens upon his “friends”, La Hermandad. He chats them up about their trios match tonight with Tiger, Jack and Rocky, but Nicho & Lider have one question that needs to be answers: why does Konnan keep saying the Legion will have all the titles? THEY're not in the Legion. Alex has no answers, but tries to keep them happy by promising to bring up the issue to Konnan; he'll talk, Konnan will definitely listen. Hermandad do not appear overly impressed with that response. Alex tries the friends approach again, but Nicho & Lider remind him that they're not friends, they're mercenaries, and the moment Konnan isn't paying them, they'll be gone.
Konnan and Dorian in the club continue. Amusing bits only to me: the blond hitting on Dorian the most is wearing a racing theme outfit, not too off from the one Estrellita used to wear. Also, Dorian speaks English to whomever he's talking to on the phone.
Match 3: Extreme Tiger, Jack Evans, Rocky Romero vs Alex Koslov, Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario
Gimnasio De La Unidad Deportiva, Toluca, Estado De Mexico, 02/18/2010
Winner: rudos
Match Time: 5:17
Rating: usual, but shorter.
Notes: Clipped to start? Joe Lider has a black eye
Tiger gets a run on Koslov to start, Hermandad rush into attack them, and Jack and Rocky briefly battle the Hermandad away until the rudos take over. Announcers are talking quite a bit about storylines (what Alex & Nicho & Lider were talking about in the last segment, going back to Nicho & Lider cheating to Marco & Latin at TripleMania). Alex focuses on working over tiger, so Jack only has to take out two when he flips to the apron on a corner whip. Thru the ropes dropkick for Lider, springboard dropkick on Nicho into a DDT on Lider on the way down! Alex returns, only to be whipped into a Romero missile dropkick. Rocky clotheslines Nicho, gives Lider his heel kick. Tirantes threatens a DQ – why? Indian Deathlock on Lider, suplex on Nicho at the same time. Jack runs by the rudos, and lands a springboard double back elbow. Rocky and Romero in and hit their dives – Romero does a tope into an armdrag, Jack does his handspring flip moonsault, and the camera misses most of that. Alex and Tiger back in, Tiger flips Alex to the apron, kicks him and hangs him there, then leaps off the top rope for a dropkick to the head. Pose – how about a cover? A cover! Hijo de Tirantes thinking about it, one....two........Tirantes stops counting and pounds Tiger on the back, then walks away to yell at Nicho and Romero. So we're right back where we were.
Replays. Jack argues with Tirantes, and Alex recovers enough to foul kick Tiger. Rocky takes out Alex with a high kick before he can cover and Rocky takes himself and Nicho to the floor. Jack sets up Alex and climbs up, but Tirantes pulls him down. While they argue, Lider gives Tiger the Lider Storm. Alex superkicks Jack out, and covers Tiger – one two three, a bit of a fast count.
Tirantes walks off with Hermandad, and Koslov attacks Tiger again.
Backstage, Electroshock works out while Wagner talks with the same bad mic Joaquin had before. Again, Wagner thinks Electroshock is winning it for him, and before Electroshock has a chance to call him dumb, Silver King jumps in to remind them they have three enemies to take care of first.
Match 4: La Parka Jr., Marco Corleone, Pimpinela Escarlata vs Dr. Wagner Jr., Electroshock, Silver King
Gimnasio De La Unidad Deportiva, Toluca, Estado De Mexico, 02/18/2010
Winner: Rudps
Match Time: 8:22 (3:57+4:25)
Rating: eh
Notes: Entrances. Noted rudo Wagner is wearing a team Mexico soccer jersey. Cut backstage to Pimpi unsuccessfully giving himself a pep speech. Pimpi goes to kiss Marco, but the rudos cut him off and attack the técnicos, even before Parka has made it to the ring. Break.
Wagner and Electro have sudden and unconvincing issues, but then go back to beating up the técnicos. The peace landed nearly this whole segment, but then they argued over who got to beat up Parka again. Break after just about 4 minutes.
Just after the return form the break, Parka manages a headscissors/armdrag take over on the two angry rudos to star the comeback. Técnicos clear the ring. Pimpi focuses on Wagner and attacks him off screen. Everyone does a lot of standing around. Marco kicks Electroshock a bit. Pimpi chase Wagner to the entrance with a chair, but never gets to hit him. Electroshock I left alone against the técnicos, Silver King having opted to go chasing after his brother. Silver King comes back with a chair and hits Parka in the stomach, back and knee (which somehow makes him flip.) Marco holds Electro in a choke while Silver puts Parka in a toe hold. Pimpi returns to break that up, but Piero is waving for help for Piero. In the meantime, Wagner shoulderblocks Pimpi hard in the ropes and chops him. Electro comes over to help, and Marco belatedly gets involved. He and Electro look at each other for a second, Marco ducks Electro, Electro falls back to the corner, Marco misses the corner splash, Elector runs the ropes and grabs Marco in a cutter. They both roll out, and Pimpi runs over to Wagner to get slapped again. Piero is – leaving the ring with Parka? This match is currently all over the place. Wagner stop to look around, goes back to chopping. Corner whip, reverses, Wagner flips Pimpi, Pimpi knocks Wagner away – Piero is STILL waving for help for Parka – Pimpi lands the top rope missile dropkick. Cover, and even though the doctor is finally there, Piero is still out of the ring. Pimpi lets go, and gets a suástica on. Piero returns, just in time for Wagner to escape. Looks like Piero may be attending to Parka on the outside, but no shot of it. Inside, Wagner catches a Pimpi kick, holds the leg for a while, and dragon screws him. Thumb across the throat. Marco is no where to be seen, Electro is just standing in a corner and watching. Wagner Driver on Pimpi. Wagner goes to point at the crowd and cut his throat again, then turns around to see Electro is already covering Pimpi. One two three.
On one hand, Electro was actually focused on winning this match, unlike the Doctor. On the other hand, the replay clearly shows Electro was rushing into make sure he stole that pin; it was less about wining and more about him winning. Wagner makes motions he and Elector have problems, but Silver King leads his brother away. Electroshock celebrates by himself.
Backstage, as Electro comes thru the entrance, Silver King yells at Electro some. Electroshock just wants to get past him, but Silver King won't stop yelling and pointing. YOU WON THE MATCH. Big picture, Silver King. Electroshock definitely came off as greedy.
As Konnan walks down an aisle, he once again rants about the Legion winning all the titles. Apparently, All The Titles include the Rey de Reyes, which Konnan (loudly, is there any other way) notes the Legion has won the last two years. Konnan tells Chessman and Zorro that it's their responsibility to do it this year. Chessman and Zorro both say they're going to do it, which causes a bit of a problem. Tonight, Konnan wants them to take out Mesías & Latin Lover. Zorro, in his hazy Zorro state, sticks behind to rant at the camera.
Video Package: Mesías vs Latin Lover vs Electroshock
Match 5: El Mesías & Latin Lover vs Chessman & Zorro
Gimnasio De La Unidad Deportiva, Toluca, Estado De Mexico, 02/18/2010
Winner: tecnicos
Match Time: 6:12
Rating: eh.
Notes: Latin Lover has his hair down. I think it's supposed to make him look younger, but it's not a good look for him. Hijo de Tirantes is ref, so there you go.
Rudos wait until after the whistle. Announcers discuss the mysterious fourth luchador in the title match. I think Arturo Rivera is playing like he knows. Mesías quickly makes a spear intensive comeback. During Mesías' showcase, a “DF Box Y Lucha Commissioner” is put on microphone to tell us that Cibernético has been taken to the hospital. Good to know. This is basically a house show match. INSIDE THE AMBULANCE SHOT – no, they haven't gotten to the hospital yet. Long trip! Also, Roldan is there, even though I thought he was still around after the attack. I don't know. The real purpose is it cover sup a clip in the match, with Latin Lover at the ale end of his big run against both guys.
End game starts with Latin missing a dropkick and Chessman chopping him on the ropes. Big crowd shot, and then suddenly Chessman is spearing Latin Lover. Hijo de Tirantes counts – fair, this time – one two and Piero pulls him off. Maybe there was rudo chicanery, but they clipped it off. Referees argue and shove on the outside, while Chessman wishes someone would just count. In the meantime, Latin gets up, kicks Chessman, and goes for a Code Red. It fails miserably – I don't know if Chessman didn't know what was going on or if the timing was all off, but they just fall to the mat like goofs. (Here's where you could've used an edit!) They start to try for it again, but Latin aborts, gets off Chessman's back, drop toe holds him, and puts on a casita. Piero comes into count, one two three
Mesías is down on the outside, I'm not quite sure why. Tirantes shoves Piero, then Zorro shoves Latin Lover clear out of the ring. Electroshock has suddenly appeared, and he puts Latin in a suástica on the outside. On the inside, Mesías ducks a double clothesline and knocks out both men. Alex in, Alex pressed and tossed onto the other two. Konnan knocks Mesías down from behind, and that finally turns the tide for the rudos. Stomps and such. Tirantes stands around, watching. Electroshock continues to hold Latin in the suástica on the outside.
The ambulance returns – suddenly, Cibernético in the front seat, even though he was riding in the back last we saw – and he limps all the way back to the ring. It's really not too hard for Cibernético to pretend he has a bad leg! Elector has dropped Latin on the outside, and watches as Cibernético gets in the ring. Clothesline to Chessman, clothesline to Zorro, Chokeslam to Alex. Konnan starts to confront Cibernético, then starts to beg off, then just rolls out. Tirantes decides maybe he should leave too. Latin comes back in the ring, just as Mesías and Cibernético have a standoff. The Legion walks out as Cibernético talks to Mesías, and Mesías looks at him. Break.
Video package recap.
More Dorian and Konnan at the club to wrap up. The friend Dorian called is there, and Konnan is happy to see them (in English.) Of course, we don't see him. That's it.
