AAA Mini Line - 03/28/09 (#879)
Previously: a hair vs hair match was agreed to. We see more of that fight this week than last. Nicho & Lider wanted to be actually paid for their work, so they must be in the right business. Black Abyss burned Abismo Negro. Charly Manson returned
Tonight: Charly Manson, Mesias and a surprise partner vs Zorro, Ozz, Cuervo, plus Parka/Silver King and more.
In Ring Promo: Jack Evans? In Spanish? Teddy and Nikki are there, as Jack carefully pronounces every where. Jack has the insults down. Out for the save – Elegido?!?!? Clothesline for the HF2, Nikki tries slapping him and gets kissed. Elegido starts cutting his own promo, but that's not going to last. Zorro is out firs,t but slows down so he doesn't have to do it alone – Silver King, Nicho, and Joe Lider jump Elegido one sentence into his promo which surely would've taken the word. This all a very strange route to the usual Konnan promo. I guess Hermandad got paid and are happy now? The AAA music starts playing early during Konnan's promo, but it takes a while for anyone to show up. Elegido kills time by holding up a Mexican flag. Ah, they're playing the music for Joaquin Roldan, who's not even in the building yet! That must be one psychic music guy. Roldan's actually coming in thru the crowd. People walking to their seats often get their music played, I'm sure. Roldan immediately goes over the barricade to ringside, so I don't know the point of that trip. Lots of talking gets us to confirm the hair match, with Roldan promising his guy is the surprise guy in tonight's main event. Konnan is searing a whole lot for a guy just talking.
Match 1: Oriental, Tiffany, Billy Boy © vs Gran Apache ©, Mari Apache, Fabi Apache
Auditorio Teopanzolco, 02/28/09
Winner: rudos
Match Time: 11:50
Notes: Hey, Tiffany still exists. Pepe Casas enters with her, not the last rudo, which means something up. Gran Apache waits in the aisle to hit Billy with a chair when he shows – so of course, he's come in thru the crowd (it's the thing to do tonight) and clotheslines the lady Apaches. Gran Apache still has no idea, but misses the chair shot when Billy comes over. They battle on the floor, even for a bit, while the rudos dominate in the ring. Bill eventually gets the advantage by slamming Apache on the stage, then comes back in to get cheap shots on the other Apaches. Break during the beatdown.
Beatdown continues. This match isn't as interesting as the ones they've had lately, or maybe it's because we're stuck at point in the story too long. Gran Apache escapes a corner charge to start the comeback. One day, I need to chart what move leads most to a comeback. When I'm a bored millionaire. Apaches are pretty fun on offense though, blowing Billy up with a double dropkick, Mari giving Oriental a DDT to set up Gran Apache's tope con giro, double suplex for Tiffany before the girls take turns kicking her directly in head. Tiffany tries to go out, but Billy keeps her in to save himself. She still gets double dropkicked out, and so does Oriental, but Billy still won't go in, even getting into an argument with is teammates about it. There's a clip here.
Billy's strayed to close the ring (perhaps with some help from Oriental) and gets pulled in by his hair. He's held and beat by others, but still rolls out at first chance. Oriental comes in and gets beat again. Billy's teammates get annoyed with him and toss him in again, but he manages his own comeback with dropkicks. Yay, heroic Billy Boy. His hair has gotten really long, you notice. Billy fakes tope, poses on one knee, Fabi's drops him with a shining wizard. Fabi and Mari get the better off Tiffany and Oriental for a bit, though Oriental rallies with punches. One 'rana too many gets Fabi Powerbombed by Oriental. Fabi kicks out, but looks pretty out of it. Oriental tries to cut off Gran Apache with a kick as he comes in, but Apache fouls him (and Pepe Casas misses it?) Tiffany's disposed with a kick to the butt and a slap to the face. Billy comes running with a chair, but Gran Apache avoids that and backdrops him. Gran Apache gets the chair himself, and the fans are more okay with that than Pepe Casas. Gran Apache pulls back, things about, and thinks too long because Billy punches it away. Billy in no hurry here. Whip, reversed, Apache gets flipped to the apron, Billy turns around, gets punched, Gran Apache goes up, stops to pose for a second, Billy slaps him and joins him. All the way up, top rope superplex. Billy rolls on top one two three!
He won without cheating, how about that. Oriental and Tiffany give Billy credit, then stomp Gran Apache a little more for fun. Clip here, to the rudos having Gran Apache set up for a chair shot. Aerostar appears from nowhere (added by the clip) to springboard dropkick Billy and break that up. Aerostar gets the chair and look to hit someone. Oriental and Tiffany get away, so Aerostar thinks about hitting Billy, but throws down the chair to check on Gran Apache. Billy kicks Aerostar for being a moron and goes for the chair, but Aerostar dropkicks it in his face. Billy goes out, and Aerostar takes him out with a a huge tope. Aero pops up and stands on the barricade, very proud of himself.

AAA guys on a soccer show
vote for who you think is going to win Rey de Ryes on the website. You know, the tournament they haven't really even mentioned here.
Recap: La Parka Jr./Silver King. You know, it just seems like two week sago when they broke up. Oh, right, it was two weeks ago.
Match 2: Tiger Cota, Tito Santana, Rio Bravo © vs Super Fly, Aerostar ©, Laredo Kid
Auditorio Teopanzolco, 02/28/09
Winner: tecnicos (by DQ)
Match Time: 10:17 (5:15+5:02)
Notes: Piero and Pepe Casas are referees. I do not ask why. Why is Rio Bravo captain? Aerostar I can see. Everyone gets bored and starts hitting each other before they can finish introducing the rudos.
Usual match from these teams, above average though not quite as good as the atómicos. Break during the early portion of the beatdown. Rudos set up the the pyramid triple submission on Laredo Kid, but Aerostar breaks it up with a springboard headscissors on Tigre Cota, which looked pretty amazing. Dive train ended with Tito Santana onto the pile with a slow tornillo (Super Fly and Laredo got in dives beforehand, better ones.) Rio Bravo and Aerostar were left in the ring. Aerostar absolutely spiked Bravo on a 'rana, held the cradle for one, two, and then left go to celebrate. Maybe Rio Bravo was supposed to kickout and was knocked out, maybe Aero just did what he wanted to do there, but just an odd spot. Aero stopped to celebrate and went back to pick up Rio Bravo, but Billy Boy ran out to attack and powerbomb him. The non-concussed rudos ripped off his mask, but both refs awards him the win. Rudos beat up tecnicos a bit more after the match too.
There's a Rey de Reyes video package coming back from the first break in the match, and again after just about every break from her eon out.
Promo: Elegido & Abismo Negro
Promo: Teddy & Jack, who are still confused by Zorro. Teddy & Jack apparently exist in some other world where Zorro's planning to take over the Legion. Also, a discussion point: is Zorro hitting on Nikki? Teddy says maybe, Jack says no, Nikki says Yes. (Elegido is, they agree.) Jack is all about focusing on the matches.
Match 3: Jack Evans & Teddy Hart vs Elegido & Abismo Negro
Auditorio Teopanzolco, 02/28/09
Winner: HF2
Match Time: 6:22 (3:05+3:17)
Other Match Notes: Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Rudos jump Elegido to start the match. Elegido works the first six minutes of the match by himself, Abismo Negro standing in the corner waiting for a tag thru beatdowns and comebacks. There's parts where this is bad, but like the last minute of Nikki/Teddy/Elegido stuff is really bad, even when it's not clipped out. Abismo Negro is just in randomly. As part of his flurry, Abismo drops Jack on his head with a back suplex. After everyone gets a big move – jack gets whipped into a corkscrew tope that totally flies over Abismo's head – Elegido puts Teddy in a Atlantida. Nikki comes in, to pull open her top again. Elegido is not really distracted (and Nikki tries dancing for him, turning around and showing us the white bra underneath the top, probably not the idea here), but Teddy gets free, Hijo de Tirantes pulls him over a schoolboy trip, and Teddy and Jack both cover while Nikki tries to fix her top back. Quick count 3 for the finish. Abismo chases Hijo de Tirantes around after the match.
Promo: Konnan, Joe Lider, Nicho, Silver King – this promo is actually clipped. Konnan has money, so the Hermandad think they're getting paid. Not so fast. Again, they're not happy, but Konnan wants them to do their job to actually get paid. Meanwhile, Silver King has a get rich scheme in mind. I wonder if it's “invest in silver.”
Match 4: Joe Lider, Nicho el Millionario, Silver King © vs Alex Koslov, Crazy Boy, La Parka Jr. ©
Auditorio Teopanzolco, 02/28/09
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 12:53 (4:13+8:40)
Other Match Notes: Staggered entrances. Piero is ref. La Parka cuts off his dance to rush Silver Kin, and it's off from here. Hermandad are going to wrestle in their belts again, huh. (Actually, Lider takes his off, but Nicho goes the whole way.) Hermandad get the better of the other two and help Silver King turn the tide rather quick. They're pretty effective as a rudo trio with the usual cheats. Park's mask gets ripped just enough to show him bleeding from the forehead. Crazy Boy gets his feet up when Nicho tries to run at him with a cheer, but Lider comes right back with a boot to the head to drag the beatdown on even longer. Silver King is left alone in the ring with parka for no reason, and fires back with awful punches. Lider & Nicho eventually decide they might as well help but somehow Silver King shoving Parka towards them knocks them both down. There's a noticeable clip during the comeback (a loud chant for Parka suddenly dies off) and sudden jump to Crazy/Alex tag moves. Lot of standing around while Parka acts out of it, and eventually lets Alex wrestle Silver King instead. Alex has a nice series to set up a tope con giro on Nicho, then Parka runs around the ring to climb Silver King in the crowd. Crazy Boy and Lider battle elsewhere, Crazy ramming Lider's head into the light tower and climbing up. Silver King climbs up with him, and Parka and Lider end up there yet, so we've got plenty of people there in one spot with Nicho and Alex actually trying to wrestle in the ring. In a quite unlikely turn of events, Silver King gets a roll of tape and tapes Crazy Boy's arms to the light tower (Crazy Boys some how unable to fight back.) Meanwhile, Alex gets a near fall on a powerslam – it would've been funny if he got the win clean while they were setting all that up. Alex frog splash gets a slow two count. Alex calls to finish off Nicho, but Nicho turns into put together a two man piledriver for the win. Parka crawls back in the ring, and the rudos throw a bunch of chairs on him.
Promo: Mesias & Charly Manson, friends now. The past is the past! That's awful charitable of Charly. Mesias seems to know who the mystery person is, though I'm not sure Charly does.
Promo: Now that Zorro's so totally beat X-Pac, he's moving onto Mesias tonight. Charly too
In-Ring Promo: we get the entrances for the next match, but it's just a trick – Konnan promo first. Chessman vs Mesias is the title match for Rey de Reyes, and Mesias better realize Konnan's the man in charge. Mesias is looking today. Not less muscular, though less swelled. Vampiro shows up with Roldan, though in street clothes. He doesn't look like a guy who's about to wrestle, though he's clearly the mystery guy. Konnan says he can't while he's commissioner, which doesn't explain how he's gong to do ti at Rey De Reyes. Not like I'm going to complaining out missing a Vampiro match. Konnan pie faces him and slaps him, but Vampiro does not fight back. Zorro tries shoving him too. Even Hijo de Tirantes tries it! I'd just punch Hijo de Tirantes on principal. Konnan tells Vamp to hang at ringside to watch this match, which seems unfair.
Match 5: Ozz, Cuervo, Zorro vs Mesias, Charly Manson
Auditorio Teopanzolco, 02/28/09
Winner: Rudos by DQ
Match Time: 9:31
Other Match Notes: Without Vamp, this is technically as 2 on 3, though the tecnicos get the early edge for maybe the first time all night. Konnan comes in early to take a flying forearm, which is more than he takes in some matches he actually wrestles. Must be feeling good today. Konnan pushes Vampiro around for half the match. Rudos get control just long enough for Mesias to do a comeback, then Konnan show supt o help his guys get back control, thought taking a hiptoss. Konnan actually lands feet first, but seems to be indicting some hip problem. The doctor is out super fast to check on him, which makes it seem more like an angle, but he is slowly helped to the back in a way that sure doesn't build him up for his hair match. Mesias makes another superman comeback (helped by the rudos standing there and waiting for him to come to them.) Rudos manage to get it back together long enough for Zorro to break out the cane, and the Dark Family sets the tecnicos up for all sorts of Zorro offense. Vampiro turns back up (and Konnan's back at ringside, so strange stuff is going on.) Zorro has the other guys hold the tecnicos at bay for a cane shot, but Vampiro comes in the ring and get cane. Vamp thinks about hitting someone, so Ozz hits him first. Goozle for Ozz, goozle for Cuervo, double chokeslam. I guess he's not commissioner now? Konnan and Vampiro do the most contrived back in to each other spot ever, Konnan yells at Vamp, Vamp takes off his vest and Konnan backs down. Hijo de Tirantes gets in the way, and Vamp chokeslams him (which looked worse than either one of the double chokeslams), and then Vamp and Konnan brawls. Announcers decide that last chokeslam must've been a DQ. Good enough for me. Security breaks up the fight, which the crowd did not seem as into as you'd expect they'd be at this point. They play the dark family's music, so there you go
Zorro leisurely watches this from the stage, cooler than all these guys in the ring. Crowd does chant for Vampiro but there's no buzz. Zorro walks off, knowing better to be scene filler for these two guys. Konnan gets the mic to point out Vamp's no longer commissioner. Vamp agrees, but he's 1000% AAA. Vamp goes after Konnan again, Konnan gets out of there. Arturo Rivera walks off after Konnan, and that's the show.
