AAA Mini Line - 08/16/08 (#847)
Recapped: 08/16/08

Previously: AAA and the Legion fought a bit and Konnan and Roldan argued. No, really! AAA beat the Legion in a trios. Zorro was hurt. "Mesias Superior" except HE LOST THE MATCH. Wins and loses not meaning a lot here. Hell Brothers don't get along.

The only match they hype this week, including naming the people who I thought were supposed to be surprises. Oh well.

Four sided ring.

Match 1: Escorpion Negro, Rio Bravo, Tigre Cota, Tito Santana II (c) vs Babe Rap, Javi (c), Kevin, Ricky
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 5:22
Notes: Pepe Casas is ref. No entrances. Rudos are hyped as Poder del Norte. They flash the rudos picture sup so quick good luck at remembering who's who.

Five seconds of chain wrestling before it breaks down. It's the tecnicos fault - they broke up a Rio Bravo hold, and then rudos jump in to defend. Turns into a beatdown from there. Kevin has a message painted on his abs, but it's hard to get a look at it. Comeback is quick, maybe after 90 seconds. Lots of actions, making me confused if there's a big clip here or not. Kevin does a top rope twisting top con giro (sorta) to the floor. Tito Santana is given a odd looking spike DDT. Barrio Boys still have the skateboard, and dropkick it into Rio Bravo's groin. Barrio Boys individual showcase from there. Escorpion Negro has stolen Hijo del Diablo's hair. Ricky does a moonsault to the floor, and almost hits his target. Javi gets Tigre Cota with a figure four half nelson (I think) for the submission. Not the captain, but they end it anyway.

In Ring Promo: Zorro's got no sling. No No No NOOOO it's impossible he'll be kept out of the title shot match

and now they hype up surprise wrestlers in the match. Perhaps they should work these things out before producing the show.

Promo: Histeria says he's going to win the the title because he's the best rudo

Promo: Mascara Sagrada says [muffle muffle muffle].

Match 2: Mini Histeria vs Mascarita Sagrada 2007 in the AAA Minis Championship Tournament
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Mascarita Sagrada
Match Time: 2:43
Notes: Remember when THIS was supposed to be the title match? Well, different title, different Mascarita Sagrada. Is Mini Histeria still the #1 contender for the Mexican National Minis championship? That would explain why Dorada hasn't defended it, how could he? Look at those empty upper level seats. Heeeeey, Copetes is working today. This is the first non major show he's been in ring in quite a while.

Histeria grabs Sagrada as he's stretching, whips him, takes him down, and scissors his leg to hyper extend it. Histeria celebrates, then gets back to the business of kicking Sagrada around. Corner whip, charge, Sagrada moves, off the ropes, under the clothesline, up Histeria and down with a faceslam. Corner whip, Histeria boosts Sagrada to the corner on the charge, Sagrada fights him off and takes him out with a spinning headscissors. Sagrada quick to the apron - Asai Moonsault connects, and both are down on the outside. Replays, as I notice other portions of the upper level which look mostly full. Both back in (clipped?), Histeria sneaks in a cradle one two no. Histeria kicks Sagrada and gets him up just enough for a powerbomb. One two no. Kind of a slow count. Big slap Sagrada, and Histeria tries another powerbomb. Sagrada lisp free, off the ropes, up and over sunset flip one...two.......three. AAA's really toned down the heel ref shtick this year, way for Copetes to bring it back at the dumbest moment. Histeria plays dead (from a sunset flip?) then pops back to his feet to argue a fast count. I dunno. Replay shows Histeria lifting up his right shoulder so we could all see it wasn't pinned. Maybe they shouldn't be looking at that angle. Naturally, they show it multiple times so Arturo can point it out over and over again. Not much of a match.

Promo: La Parkita says he's going to be the new champ

Promo: Mini Abismo Negro says he's got the experience to win. These were all shot in the same (training?) ring, it seems like.

Match 3: Mini Abismo Negro vs La Parkita in the AAA Minis Championship Tournament
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Mini Abismo Negro
Match Time: 3:13
Other Match Notes: Hijo de Tirantes is ref. They're all ready to go, and have to wait for someone to remember to blow the whistle. Oops.

Both battle on the mat, with lots of trips for zero seconds. Abismo finally stops Parkita so he can get to the important yelling at the crowd. Whip, clotheslines misses, Parka grab the ropes, then kicks Abismo. Abismo decides to fake a foul, but no. Parkita poses of the crowd, looks around some, and Abismo finally kicks him. Whip, Parkita back with a spinning headscissors, and Abismo goes out. Time to get the token dive, which is actually quite a tope. Parkita kinda hit the ropes on the way. CLIP. Which is odd, because we can hear the fans counting both guys out, but they won't show it. Back in the ring, Mini Abismo gets a 'rana one two and he can't hold on. Mini Abismo and Tirantes have a discussion, but it's relatively calm considering who's involved. Abismo sends out Parkita with a headscissors, and gets in runs to the rope, sets his footing a bit, and lands a plancha to the floor. Abismo sits next to parkita while recovering, and while we see replays of the move. Both back in, Parkita misses a big boot, Abismo drops him on his head with an exploder suplex. That's probably not the way to take that bump. Mini Abismo heading to the corner, but taking way long. senton con giro misses, Mini Abismo rolls to his feet, Parkita boots him in the head. One two no. Parkita scoops Mini Abismo up, but Mini Abismo reveres to a cross armbreaker, and that's it. Sudden

In Ring: so are they showing us parts of Zorro's speech as a teaser for later, or is this all it? Zorro is angry he's not in the title shot match, since he's the #1 luchador and all.

Noti AAA

AAA has a new website
- who will be the new member of the Guapos?
- Hey, Roldan, how come Konnan is still on the show? Lawsuits.
- in Toluca, the return of Gronda

Vignette: Pirata Morgan and Los Piratas sure hate Elegido. They're not big Alan Stone fans either.

Match 4: Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Aerostar, El Elegido, Gato Eveready
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Pirates
Match Time: 12:23
Other Match Notes: Very tight entrance this week - about as tight as stairway one, except they actually have guardrails up. Gato actually crawls under all the people trying to touch him, which is great. The guardrail isn't an impediment to those who really want to jump the rail and hug Elegido. Rudos jump the tecnicos before Elegido can do his dance! Copetes is ref, so Piero must be the one off. Something for the LA shows?

Lots of brawling. Pirates come together for double teams on Aerostar before finally dealing with Elegido. Double suplex, moonsault, springboard elbow drop, and a dropkick to send him out. Gato crawls in and gets stomped. Straight jacket double suplex for him, and Junior is backdropped into a senton. Everyone gives him somersault sentons. Aerostar takes a double dropkick and a guillotine legdrop. Pose. Aerostar evades a corner charge to start a comeback. Pirata Sr. tries to backdrops both high fliers out, but they hold onto the ropes and snap Senior's neck over it. Flying headscissors to the floor to take care of the junior pirates. long crowd show hen Elegido and Pirata Sr. should be fighting, and Pirates Sr. is trying to get out of there as soon as they show them. Crowd seems to be booing. Elegido gets the best of Pirata Sr. on the floor. The Juniors try to block him, but Elegido just goes around them to get Pirata. After all that effort, Elegido ends up giving Pirata Sr. the most pulled kick of all time. Gato showcase is about normal. Elegido comes in to face Pirata Sr., but Pirata Sr. wants no part of it and Aerostar gets his turn against Hijo instead. Aero takes a flip bump on a clothesline, but flips out of a monkey flip to land on the apron. Hijo comes after him but takes a bodyscissors bulldog, then Hijo gets deked into throwing himself to the floor. Aero follows with a double jump tornillo of all things. Lots of crowd shots. Pirata and Elegido fight, Elegido does his dance, Pirata clothesline him. Pirata Sr. gets his feet up on a corner charge, and then does a leisurely drop into Elegido's upraised feet before carefully setting himself in the ropes for Elegido to kick to the floor. Elegido has to dance before and after doing it, making Pirata Sr. hang a bit. The four non captains all end up in. Gato and gets tossed by Hijo, but ends up hitting a tornillo on to Junior. Aero and Hijo battle on the apron, Hijo does the ring post walk up escape, shoves Hijo into the post, flips into the ring, and 619s Aero to the chest. CANNONBALL! That was actually more a straight stiff reverse tope this time. Back in the ring, Elegido gets Pirata with a plancha, trips him up, and goes for the casita. One two NO. Slow count by Copetes, though not horribly so. Sunset flip lead to a moon spot, covered up with a crowd shot. Elegido kicks Pirata out and head for the dive, but Copetes trips him up. I've really not missed random heel spots, and neither has Elegido. He shoves Copetes down, Pirata snakes back in to foul Elegido and cradle him, Copetes recovers to count the pinfall.

In Ring: Yes, this Zorro bit is still going on. Roldan comes out to explain Zorro's not in the match because he's not cleared to wrestle. And that's as far as that gets.

Vignette: Porky is the saddest jolly fat man ever.

video package: Psycho Circus

Match 5: Killer Clown, Psycho Clown (c), Zombie Clown vs Angel, Brazo de Plata (c), El Alebrije
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Clowns
Match Time: 10:06
Other Match Notes: This is said to be for win 164. Cuije has his belt, but Alebrije does not. Porky is wearing a gold jump suit this week. Zombie steals a child, and walks around with him for a long time. He finally escapes into to the ring, ad out of it before they can bag him. Pepe Casas is ref.

Clowns attack tecnicos right after introductions. Superplex followed by a flying headbutt combo on Alebrije is quite something. Cuije is killed with a double elbow drop. Killer adds a legdrop, and they try to bag him. That looks like a 50 pounds bag (of rice), just a little too small for Cuije to fit in. Not that they don't try to squish him in. Rudos are so intent on getting Cuije in the bag, the tecnicos easily sneak up behind them and lay the rudos out. Killer Clown pretends to be hit low, and Arturo calls it a Super Mega Foul. Sadly, no super mega DQ.  Replay show Cuije might have accidentally hit him low, but he's a short guy and it's tough tot get high on a dropkick. Porky and Psycho takes turn posing in the ring for alternating boos and cheers, but the boos and cheers keep alternating the same way after they've stopped. Everyone is very helpful in doing most of the work for Porky. Porky slams the two smaller clowns, then manages to get Killer too. Muscle pose. Alebrije is the next to get the best of the rudos, and whatever spot Cuije does to Psycho (pelvic thrust to the face?) gets clipped out. Angel in, explicit Killer Clown is in and he wants no part of him. Lots of crowd shots. When they stand next to each other, Killer really is taller, but it's not crazy much difference as you might think. Angel can not slam Killer, and Killer throws him down with a double choke. Plancha is caught, and Killer sets Angel up on the top rope to pound. Angel pulls himself up and gets Killer with a headscissors. Lots of kicks, one enziguri, and Alebrije and Angel double dropkick Killer out. Killer has hard time getting underneath the bottom rope. Angel tries a plancha, Killer catches it, and Alebrije gets his own plancha to knock down the pile. Zombie teases a dive, holds up, and gets pulled out. Alebrije goes back in and topes him. Psycho gets ready for his dive, but Porky's in to cut him off instead. Hmmmm. Porky backdrops Psycho clown, then stomach bumps him down. Psycho gets up and kicks Porky. Slam, going up, top rope splash hits. One two three. You know, instead of standing outside and looking sad, Alebrije could've come in and helped there. Maybe Porky just needs to team with smarter people. Arturo singing the instrumental part of the Psycho Circus' music is the best part.

In Ring: Zorro and Roldan, still. Zorro, not cleared.

Vignette: Cibernetico and Chessman meet up backstage. Chessman takes the opportunity to cut another promo on Mesias. They're still not on the same page, Chessman's Venom shirt besides.

Vignette: Crazy Boy and Ultimo Gladiador talk about going for the tag team titles. Crazy Boy is still mad about Joe Lider turning on him. It's be neat if one of these tecnicos were interesting in those guys they were actually fighting today.

Match 6: Electro Shock, Jack Evans (c), Teddy Hart vs Chessman (c), Crazy Boy, Ultimo Gladiador
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Legion
Match Time: 11:37
Other Match Notes: DANCE! DANCE! Teddy's girlfriend is there this week. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Mexican Powers and Hart Foundation get into shoving fits. Crazy Boy is NOT wearing a DTU shirt. Yet.

Crazy and Jack try to do an even exchange. It must work, because even though Jack has a pretty wheel kick and generally seems better to me, they're still cheering for Crazy. Crazy gets Jack with a face first powerbomb, and Teddy breaks up the resulting hold. While Jack got very little on Crazy, Teddy mauls Gladiador and hits Crazy for good measure.  UG eventually stops him with a back elbow and gets a dropkick/619 combo. UG waits for Teddy to get up off all fours to follow up, Teddy ain't moving, so Gladiador slingshot legdrops him right in the back. Chops. Lots of scrolling ads for the new website today. Teddy reverses a clothesline into his Canadian Destroyer. Of course. Chessman comes in and wallops Teddy. Chessman misses a dropkick, lays on the bottom rope, and Teddy's Girlfriend tries slapping him. Very weak. He's chessman, you can slap him hard and he won't break. Chessman comes back with a missed clothesline and superkick. Backbreaker for Teddy, clothesline for Jack that flips him out. Electro slaps Chessman hard around the face (see!) and then does a horrible dropkick. Electro wisely goes back to slapping people around. Crazy Boy brought in, snap mare, kick to the back, and lifted up for a slow spinning hanging DDT. Is this the beatdown? Jack is in, slamming Gladiador and telling Electro to lift up Crazy . Hey, he doesn't need Teddy anymore dot do the double stomp into a moonsault bit! Just making a note of that. Announcer seem to miss it happening. Electro's flapjack gut kick looks okay. Jack and Teddy get the side backbreaker/shooting star press on Crazy. Electro kicks out Crazy, waits for UG to come back, and watches Teddy attack him from behind. Jack starts singing the National Anthem to some boos. Electro gives UG a corner back cracker. Teddy gives him a straight jacket version. Jack shows him over to Teddy's Girlfriend for a shot with her shoes. Teddy gives UG the powerbomb version of his back cracker. Hijo de Tirantes get to notDQ the rudos for the obvious interference, not that they're paying much attention to him. UG goes out, and Teddy drops on to him with a rope flip moonsault. CLIP. Chessman win in before the clip, but not now. Mexican Powers are held for a double clothesline, but Electro end sup getting his own partners and pulled out by Chessman instead. Mexican Powers double teams look sloppy and not good, with Jack taking a worse shot to the face because of one misstep. Ah, yea, he's bleeding from the chin. Crazy was trying to toss Jack into a Gladiador chest breaker, but they weren't positioned right and it turned into a chin buster. UG  gets Electro with an Asai Moonsault on the outside. Chessman gives Teddy an Atlántida, and holds him there, waiting for something. Jack breaks it up after a delay - I wonder how out of it he is. Crazy comes in to fight him, avoiding Jack's jumping spin kick and giving him a headcrusher. (Knee to Jack's bleeding chin - of course that's the move to use now.)  UG calls for a running forearm, but Jack backslides him and bridges even over him, one two no. Jack gives Crazy with a kick combo, off the ropes, and flipped by a Crazy big boot. Crazy calls for his powerbomb, but Jack breaks free on the lift, then leapfrogs over Chessman as he charges. Chessman spears Crazy, Teddy throws him out, goes up quick, and hits his 450 elbow drop. Jack adds his 630 senton one two three.

Jack's got a beard of blood. Hijo de Tirantes helpfully explains this to someone outside the ring by pointing to his chin. Replays.

In Ring: Zorro and Roldan - no, don't care any more

Vignette: Zorro's getting ready to wrestle,. The Legion does not seem to think this is a good idea, but he's not passing up a chance for the title. Konnan says to use his brain. Everyone else get the title for the Legion. Zorro kinda blows them off and heads to the match anyway.

Vignette: Alan Stone is checking himself out in the mirror. La Parka sneaks behind him and mocks him. The idea is they want to get the title shot for AAA

Vignette: Mesias makes it very clear to Ozz that this match is Mesias getting the title shot he already has, and Ozz better remember that. The best moment of the year is when Ozz finally hits Mesias. I just hope it's the best moment of 2008 and not 2011.

Match 7: Mesias vs Ozz vs Konnan vs Kenzo Suzuki vs Black Abyss vs Joe Lider vs Head Hunter I vs Chessman vs Alan Stone vs La Parka Jr. in a battle royal for a shot at the AAA World Mega Championship
Arena Solidaridad, 07/20/08

Winner: Chessman
Match Time: 19:00
Other Match Notes: They keep call this a Russian roulette, but it's really a Royal Rumble. All the referees come to ringside to watch for eliminations. They start fighting before the whistle blows.

Mesias chokes out Parka with his own t-shirt, which seems cruel. Mesias punches Parka a lot, Parka takes him down and punches him a lot. Mesias has to battle Parka to get him down on a spear. Why did they put these two start? Parka can't do so much this week.

Ozz is third in. That's about 80 seconds. Someone grabs Ozz's hat. They just knock it off his head, so Ozz is thankfully able to get it back. He's also stopped by someone who insists on hugging him, but makes it back to the ring before Parka can throw Mesias out. (How did Parka almost get Mesias out anyway?) Ozz probably shouldn't have worn his entrance gear to the ring, because now they're he's killing time just getting it all back off. Thankfully, Parka is just sitting in the corner and Mesias is just posing. Double teaming on Parka, and attacking the bad arm.

Black Abyss is in next. Fans around the entrance have no fear of of getting in trouble for jumping the rail and or slapping the wresters on the backside. They all do back off when Abyss shoots flames in the air. Abyss is more interested  in shooting flames than this match. However, he's all for the plan of stomping Parka. Mesias doesn't seem to like the idea of geminating along with someone, Ozz tries to broke a piece, and Mesias throws snot at him. CROWD SHOT. Suddenly, everyone's in a different spot, and the time's already up. Mesias is happy about something.

Probably not about Alan Stone being next. Alan uses a strategy of standing in place, letting Abyss charge him, and then just moving out of the way. This works surprisingly well. Mesias just ands around while Alan befuddles Abyss, then touches him once and Alan is dead. Ozz keeps Parka in the corner with kicks. Mesias wipes himself with Alan's coat  as Abyss charges Alan - and gets backdropped to the floor. DOPE. Abyss wants back in, but that's not happening. Rudos still dominate two on two. Alan and Mesias almost take each other out, but hold up on the apron just in time.

Joe Lider rushes at Ozz for some reason. Ozz takes mostly blocks the one shot Lider gets in, and then beats the man up. That was a fail.  Mesias rips off Lider's mask to choke him with it. Meanwhile, Ozz whips Parka to the corner, charges him, misses, hops to the middle rope for no reason, and falls over the top rope with a single punch. DOPE #2! Crowd goes wild. CLIP. I sure like looking at these same shots for the 19th time. Lider and Alan and working sort of together, except Lider's not on the same page as always and mistimes a combo. As soon as Lider gets Mesias with a German suplex, Alan turns on him. Parka and Mesias grapple near the ropes while Alan and Lider do spots elsewhere.

Zorro's music plays, but the referees cut him off in the aisle. He's not allowed! Zorro tires to get past them, but can't.

Konnan's music plays while Zorro mocks the referee. The referees happily allow Konan to come in, and he immediately starts to brawl with Mesias. Konnan's wearing off a shirt that doesn't hide his upper body for the first time I can recall since his hip surgery. Zorro heads to the back, but is passed by Prez. Roldan on his way to the ring. Roldan tells Alan and Parka to get Konnan out of there. Lider too, but Mesias scissors him by the leg and Lider can't possibly break free. Alan and Parka are enough on their own, anyway.

Chessman's music is next, though no one seem to realize it until he runs in. He is announced as the AAA surprise and attacking everyone - Alan gets a superkick, kick for Lider, and a pounding for Mesias. Hey, he did get to fight him! They roll around on the mat pounding each other. Parka wanders over to get his own shots on Mesias. AAA keeps sticking with close tight shots of one fight or another, and they're not really good about picking the important ones - they switch to Lider and Alan killing time while the real action is elsewhere. They really needed just to lay off the camera switches here for a bit. Alan teases falling out, but stays in. Parka gets Mesias over the ropes, but Mesias hooks onto the top rope.  Lider actually and randomly tries to make the save. As usual, this makes it worse - Mesias gets his trunks pulled partially down, and looses one of his hand grips. He holds out, because Parka is helpful to sit there and do nothing while sucking air. Lots and lots of crowd shots.

The Legion couldn't do any better for a surprise than Head Hunter? He does lay out Parka, Lider and Alan with clotheslines before pounding Mesias and Chessman. Head Hunter running and "kicking" is a sight to see. Alan's chest slaps have no effect on him. Dropkicks don't work either. Lider's shots work slightly better. Liger, Alan and Park take turns clotheslining him, and back him up to the ropes. Lider and Alan grab him and Mesias gives him a running shove to knock him out. Bad day for the Legion. Mesias leans over the rope to taunt, and almost gets shoved to the floor by Lider. Again, Mesias' feet dangle over the floor for a bit, but he holds on just enough.

Kenzo Suzuki is last, when he's not latched onto by random people and blocked by cameraman. Kenzo managed to crotch Lider on the post before even coming in, so that's good work. Big slap for Alan. Slaps for everyone including Mesias. Mesias at least fights back, but then they both decide to hit Parka after a moment. Everyone slaps everyone else, Chessman is the only one to take a bump of one. Kenzo and Lider kill time by locking up. Alan catches Mesias with a boot when he charges, and heads to the top rope. Mesias easily shoves him off the top rope to the floor. DOPE #3.

Lider giving Kenzo a stunner is, uh, interesting. He had up too, and gets shoved to the apron by Kenzo. Lider manages to slip back in. Kenzo immediately suplexes him out. Did Lider not go out the first time because it wasn't a dumb enough bump? There you go.

We're left with Parka, Kenzo, Chessman, and Mesias. Alan gets stretched out, having seemed to land face first on the bump to the floor. Mesias holds Chessman in camel clutch as the other two battle. Parka gives Kenzo a flapjack, backs him up the ropes with a kick, crowd shot, and Parka clotheslines him out.

Parka calmly grabs Mesias by his hair to break up the hold, and pulls him to the corner. Mesias get the better of that with punches. Chessman gets to one knee as Parka and Mesias battle near the edge, climbing to the middle rope for no real reason. Mesias yanks Parka's mask and shoves him out with the other hand.

Chessman sets up behind Mesias, waiting for him to turn around and stomping his foot to cue up Sweet Chin Music. Wait, what? Anyway, superkick connects. Chessman goes up to the top rope because he's Chessman and tries a 450 splash. Miss, and Mesias spears him hard into the other corner. Mesias celebrates his impending title shot. Chessman's picked up by the hair, thrown over the rope and Mesias turns to the referees to see them come in and raise his hand. Unfortunately for him, Chessman lands on the apron and pulls himself back in. Mesias is informed he didn't win, turns to see Chessman, charges, and takes a hiptoss to the floor. That's your match.

Chessman is so excited to win the title shot, he steps out of the ring to beat up Mesias some more. Hijo de Tirantes blocks  him, telling him it's over, he's won, and no more fighting for today. Chessman agrees to go back in to get his arm raised. Hey, Cibernetico's music. Cibernetico has to fight thru about eight different people just to get down the aisle. Security very helpful protecting him after the fact. Cibernetico offers a handshake of congratulations. Chessman reaches out for it, looks at the fans, makes the belt signal, and points at Cibernetico. Cibernetico claps for him and want that handshake. Chessman turns instead, taking off his Hell Brothers shirt as he leaves and walking out. Cibernetico gets a "I have the most annoying friends" look at says he'll be ready for the title match. Cibernetico heads to the back, where surely he and Chessman will have a nice chat about this and all will be resolved in the week between.

Hey, they managed to blur out Parka's face on the replay, because you can totally see it on the first shot. That's it.
