AAA Mini Line - 06/07/08 (#836)
Recapped: 06/28/07

Recap: Joe Lider introduces Nicho and turned on FdT. Vampiro made an appearance, and Zorro earned a title match. Perhaps earned is too strong for it. Teddy's foul is omitted, but we do see him putting Zorro on top. Vampiro's return at TripleMania is hyped once more.

Recap: Mesias path of destruction -> Vampiro as a counter measure.

Match 1: Hijo de Pirata Morgan, Pirata Morgan (c), Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Aerostar, Gato Eveready (c), Super Fly
Auditorio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta de Veracruz, 05/02/08

Winner: Piratas
Match Time: 10:12
Notes: No entrances. Copetes is ref. Guess we're not picking up on the Super Fly bit from last week. No graphics for the teams. Pirates waste no time starting the beatdown. Aerostar gets wedged in the corner, dropkicked questionably low by Sr., and pulled off into a big DDT by Hijo. You know, in the bizarro world where AAA and CMLL co-promote, the Pirates are embroiled in a rudo/rudo feud with the Infernales. They're the same teams right now. Lots of combo spots here. Everyone takes turns doing moonsaults to Aerostar, and Hijo is much better than Jr. (Senior opts not to try.) I think Hijo is the better work of the two kids, but I really haven't thought much about it before this week. There are other tecnicos involved at points, I swear, but it's Aero who starts the comeback by getting his feet up on a Sr. exchange. The juniors kick him back in the corner, but Super Fly wipes them out with a top rope tornillo, then ducks a double hop that gets Senior instead. Gato planchas everyone, then the tecnicos take turns splashing the rudos. Rudos dropkicked out, and Gato and Aero tope the kids, and Super Fly does the best ever handstand moonsault to the floor, landing clean on his feet when Senior moves. That was totally the best ever, but Pirata ends up hoping him and telling the fans to clear out from the outside of the barricade. Whip,, reversed, and Pirata goes flying over. Nothing much happens for a while as everyone recovers, so there's plenty of time for replays.

Aero and Junior back in, with Aero taking time to stoke the crowd before fighting. We're not near the end game as I thought we might be. Aero gets in a spinning headscissors, bodyscissors bulldog, and then pretty much tricks the Pirata to taking it out the apron. Aero tries to do a German suplex to the floor from there, but Jr. saves his life by grab the ropes. Jr. ends up trying to dropkick Aero star, missing, and crotches himself on the post instead. That was odd. Hijo faces Gato, who actually holds on for a pinfall of a bodyscissors roll up! Copetes is so shocked to see one, he's slow getting down to count. At least that's what I think that was. Long crowd shot. Shot of the ring – Alebrije's climbing the ropes and a Clown is on the mat?!?! WHAT? They immediately jump back to the match that was actually going on, but I'm too hysterical to pay much attention. That's the new worst editing ever, and I wonder if it's going to happen on every long crowd shot of the night. How does that possible occur with no on catching it? Super Fly and Pirata are in, Gato's bit was pretty much excised. Super Fly gets Sr. in a 'rana, and Copetes takes about three seconds to get down and start counting, and I'm still not sure if he's a bad ref or an evil ref here. He slow counts Flu on a sunset flip, so probably evil ref. Super Fly dropkicks Sr. out, but the kids cut him off with a dropkick. Fly rolls out, but the Pirates pull him straight back in and both cover (in such a way that they're pinning themselves to the mat, but that doesn't go anywhere) and Gato breaks it up. Gato sends Hijo out with a twisting headscissors and gives Jr. and spinning backbreaker. Gato charges Jr. near the ropes, Jr. tosses him up, Gato balances himself on the ropes and springboard planchas Hijo. Meanwhile, Aero Star gets Jr. with a reverse bodyscissors cradle for two, a slow two. Copetes yells at the crowd while Aero gets boosted to the apron. Junior is lost for a second, then starts running for a dive, except the cameraman knows what's next and gives away Aero cutting him off with a 619 before he actually does it. Aero comes in with a springboard armdrags that sends Jr. out, then follows him with a springboard plancha. Pirata Sr. back in, and Super Fly drops him with a top rope moonsault. Copetes slow counts, then stops to look at the crowd. Super Fly off the ropes, into an inverted atomic drop (announcers think foul), and Pirata shoves him out of the ring by his face. Gato gets Sr. with a headscissors, but Pirata ducks a clothesline, puts on his sleeper choke, and whips Gato around to the mat for the Nagata Lock III.

teaser: Reina de Reinas. They actually list all most of the people appearing, including some of those from Oz Academy.

Match 2: Mari Apache & Ayako Hamada vs Fabi Apache & Estrellita
Auditorio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta de Veracruz, 05/02/08

Winner: Rudas
Match Time: 11:01
Notes: I thought this was a singles match, but apparently it's a tag. Pepe Casas is ref. Rudas jump the tecnicas before the bell.

Fight briefly splits into pairs, then both work over Fabi for a moment, then the tecnicas are whipped into each other, spin each other around and charge the rudos. Estrellita dropkicks out Mari, but Fabi eats a superkick from Ayako. Quick clip here. Ayako has Estrellita caught in a headlock, Lita shoots her off, Ayako back with a shoulderblock. Off the ropes, into an armdrag, and Estrellita kicks her while she's down. Corner whip, reversed, Estrellita sure is bouncy, second rope headscissors, and a very short bulldog. Dropkick sends Ayako out, and whatever's next is removed for a crowd shot. Tag to Fabi, Mari tries to get her immediately with a wheel kick bust misses. Fabi kicks her right in the face. Whip, reversed, Fabi takes her down with a quick spinning headscissors. Springboard armdrags, waved, by, and back with a 'rana. Fabi sends Mari out with a 'rana, and follows her with an apron diving headscissors. Estrellita and Ayako back in. Ayako knocks her down with a side kick. Whip, Mari trips Estrellita up for the outside, and Ayako dropkicks her in the face. Ayako headbutts Estrellita and Mari cleans Fabi off the apron. Double whip, double boot. Rudas take a moment to taunt the crowd. Whip, clothesline by Mari. Rudas in no hurry. Estrellita stretched around the ring ropes. Mari lifts her up and hangs her over the top rope, and Ayako missile dropkicks her in the side. Fabi in, and Mari repeatedly kicks her in the side of the head. Fabi dragged around the ring by her hair while the crowd cheers for her. Fabi stretched around the ropes. Fabi's thrown around by the hair some. Fabi hung in the Tree of Woe, and Ayako follows with a running dropkick to the face. Fabi slammed, and Mari adds a top rope senton con giro. Fabi's kicked out of the ring, no time for covering. Estrellita briefly gets a hold of Ayako, but Mari helps out and Estrellita is pounded in to the mat. Estrellita is choked by the rudas shins. Double whip, double clothesline is ducked, and Fabi comes in with a missile dropkick to both rudas. Estrellita waits for someone to get up so she can hit them. Fabi doesn't wait, running over to Ayako hand booting her in the head. Mari rolled to the outside instead of ever getting up, and Estrellita follows her to put her in a headlock (and find out what happened.) Inside, Ayako grabs Fabi's arm and pulls her into a powerbomb, but Fabi slips free and enziguris Fabi. Fabi waves Estrellita in, though Estrellita  tries to explain the situation with Mari, but Fabi just wants her to come in the ring. Estrellita does, but also just walks around fixing her top. She finally kicks Ayako out of the ring, but nothing's going on. This is where they needed a clip. Tag to Fabi, just as Mari gets back in the ring. Big kick for Mari. Whip, reversed, Mari drop toe holds Fabi, and pulls her in tapatia! Rolling one, up and down once, up and down twice, open and down three times – and then pulled into a face lock. Is Fabi going to give? Apparently not, because Mari drops her. Mari picks her up – no, Fabi short arm scissors Mari's arm, turns her over, and rolls the scissors around the mat. That's different. Mari won't give either, and pulls Fabi up awkwardly by on arm (and using the legs.) Estrellita breaks up the whole pile with a missile dropkick, then moves out of the way of Ayako's missile dropkick. Estrellita kicks her on the mat, before picking her up. Ayako sneaks in a kick catch enziguri...or she doesn't. Estrellita doesn't sell it, though it came as close to her as those usually do. Estrellita whips Ayako for something as they go to a crowd shot, and we never se what it is. Estrellita slams Ayako and goes up, middle rope kinda senton one two no. That looked vastly improvised, Ayako wasn't lined up for as normal. Estrellita misses a clothesline, and Ayako decks her with a thrust kick. She's calling for the end – hard powerbomb. Ayako goes up - moonsault eats feet. Estrellita knocks Ayako out of the ring with a running boot and goes to the apron. Then goes to another apron. Then climbs the ropes. Plancha connects. Apaches back in, and Mari immediately lifts Fabi into an Atlántida, but Fabi slips down her back and cradles Mari one two no! Fabi pulls Mari up, Mari breaks loose, clothesline misses, and Fabi gets her with a low angle German suplex - and another – and another, bridge this time. One two – no, and Mari's foot was on the ropes anyway. Fabi goes for one more, but Mari breaks free with hard back elbows. Michinoku Driver of Death! One two a million Ayako is in quick to congratulate Mari.

Interview: Arturo talks to Alebrije, who keeps staring at his Mascot Tag belt. I guess it reminds him of Cuije, since the guy himself seems to still be in possession of the Clowns.

Noti AAA
- recap of Vampiro's return and everyone's reaction
- Jesus is the Reina de Reinas champ! Or he's just holding the belt to talk about the tournament. Tiffany is unmentioned

Vignette: Alebrije, still waving the title belt around, confronts the Clowns (who are hanging out in front of the graffiti wall.) Gee, I wonder what could be in that bag. I think I get it now – the title belts is the ransom for Cuije, though I do not know why the Clowns want to be Mascot Tag Team champions of the world. Oh, wait, they don't – the Clowns say the belt isn't good enough and they just want to win their match tonight and then perhaps Alebrije will get his friend back.

Match 3: Killer Clown (c), Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown vs El Alebrije (c), Intocable, Laredo Kid
Auditorio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta de Veracruz, 05/02/08

Winner: Psycho Circus
Match Time: 10:36
Other Match Notes: Clowns bring the bag, with someone fighting to get free inside, to the ring. Clowns let Cuije free from the bag when Alebrije enters, and he rushes over to Alebrije for safety. Alebrije tries giving him his belt back, as if it'll help. Alebrije doesn't want to go anywhere near the ring, which of course is the way Alebrije is going. You can't really blame the little guy. I didn't realize this until I just thought to check, but this is Intocable's last taped match to date. Copetes is ref.

Mixed brawl to start, with both sides even for a bit and the tecnicos eventually clearing the ring. It turns into a normal match from there. Laredo/Zombie sees Zombie doing back flips and moonsaults for no particular reason. Alebrije outsmarts Killer and Zombie for a minute. Psycho draws Intocable and mocks his dancing a lot. The other two break up a near fall so Intocable bumps them around. Totally strange to see the Clown being booked like just another team. They finally start the beatdown on Laredo, though the other two stand on the apron not realizing it at first. Beatdown lasts long enough to get combo moves on each guy, and then long enough for Zombie and Psycho to throw themselves out out of the ring so Laredo and Intocable can hit tope con giros on them. Killer and Alebrije are left in, and Alebrije gets a standing moonsault for near fall. Middle rope elbow drop, Alebrije says that's it – oh, yea, it is because Zombie tripped him. Killer superplex, Psycho splash, win for the Clowns.

Vignette: I spoke too soon! Konnan says hi to Super Fly, Laredo Kid, and Aero Star. See, this time, Konnan has their names and pictures on his cell phone, so he's all good. Do they want to join the Legion? Laredo quickly says no, Aero seems to side with him, and Super Fly still can't believe they won't even consider joining. Before he gets too far, Octagon makes a run-in and declares Super Fly as AAA. Who was asking you? Super Fly doesn't seem to agree, but Octagon convinces he's got to make the case he's got to stick with the Pena family. Super Fly comes over to that side, but he's doesn't seem very confident with his decision.

Match 4: Antifaz del Norte, Histeria, Mr. Niebla (c) vs Abismo Negro (c), Octagón, Super Porky
Auditorio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta de Veracruz, 05/02/08

Winner: Vipers
Match Time: 12:39
Other Match Notes: Welcome back Antifaz. Feel free to yell at the camera randomly. Octagon is in a dancing mood. Super Porky is dressed like Scott Steiner this week, but ends up putting the chain mail hat on Antifaz for whatever reason. This is the last time I've got Abismo showing up, but watching him enter, I wonder if it's actually Black Abyss playing the role. It is the gear Abismo has been wearing, so maybe I'm wrong and he just looks off for different reasons. Niebla jumps him right away. Hijo de Tirantes is the ref

Vipers beatdown. Highlight has to be Octagon not wanting to come into take his beating, taking one slap (which misses by inches, and it's hard for a slap to miss without someone trying), and rolling out. Is this the man Super Fly needs to be listening to? I say no! He does come back in corner and very stiffly takes some corner clotheslines and a gentle toss off the top rope, before Antifaz near kills him with a top rope frog splash. Vipers work over Abismo's mask. Abismo just breaks free of the Vipers and clotheslines out Niebla to start to start the comeback. Niebla and Abismo fight in the aisle while the rest do a little in the ring. Antifaz and Porky work, with Antifaz helpfully running towards Porky for as many armdrags as possible. Histeria gets sexually harassed by Porky for a bit, and it seems like some of that is cut out. Tirantes totally allows Niebla to get the advantage by stopping Abismo from punching Niebla so Niebla can get those punches in himself. The Niebla/Abismo stuff here isn't very hot, and the other stuff isn't any good. Porky and Octagon get their dives and the captions are left in. Abismo gives Niebla a backbreaker, pulls down his straps, and calls for the martiente. Niebla chest slaps him, but he won't go down. Niebla comes off the ropes, and Abismo hits him with an awkward looking clothesline. Abismo grabs Niebla, then lets go, then gets grabbed by Hijo de Tirantes.. This is looking like they have a plan, but someone's forgot it. Abismo moves to soon, but Niebla still ends up booting Hijo de Tirantes. Abismo gives him another backbreaker, and now it's time for the piledriver. Or not, Niebla fouls him, takes off Abismo's mask, and puts the mask on himself (over the top of the Niebla mask). I was following along until the last part. With Hijo de Tirantes till recovering, Octagon comes in to protest to him, then goes for the Abismo mask – Niebla fouls him too. Porky gets kicked coming thru the ropes. Viper work over Abismo on the outside, and throw him back in. Niebla takes off the mask, tells everyone to cover, and Hijo de Tirantes finally comes to life to count. That was needlessly complex.

Viper destroy Abismo a bit more after the match. Octagon and Porky run them off.

Vignette: Mesias wants the title back, wants the Hell Brothers finished, wants Zorro dead, and wants Vampiro dead. The Sect will get right on that. They leave Mesias to think.

Vignette: The Sect comes back to shout about something. Mesias walks out on them, muttering about Vampiro. I'm thinking the Hell Brothers/Sect match was supposed to air first, then this vignette, then the next match, but who knows.

Match 5: Zorro vs Mesias
Auditorio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta de Veracruz, 05/02/08

Winner: Zorro (by DQ)
Match Time: 12:43 (12:03 + 0:40)
Other Match Notes: Kenzo is Zorro's second. Ozz is Mesias' second, despite not being in the earlier vignettes. Pepe Casas is ref.

Zorro and Mesias have a technical battle to start. I think of what I'd like to have for dinner. Neither is much entertaining. Again, we've got a difficult to root for situation - am I supposed to be rooting for the guy feuding with the #1 tecnico, or the guy feuding with the #1A tecnico? This week, Mesias gets the heat when Ozz attacks Zorro on the outside, and Mesias follows to get in chair and cheap shots. Mesias brings it back inside, but Zorro surprises him with an over head belly to belly suplex, and Kenzo pulls Mesias out for his own cheap shots. Ozz doesn't try to break it up as quick as Mesias might want. Mesias is able to turn it around in the ring after a bit, but this match ahs no heat or particular flow. It exists to get to a finish, so I'm zoning out until then. Well, I will note there's a break after Zorro gets Mesias with a a wheel kick, and after Ozz has taken out Kenzo with a tornillo, so maybe it'll get more interesting after that.

Zorro slowly puts on his STF, and the Sect all run into break it up with a dropkick. That's a DQ. A long trip for that ending. Legion have to wait for their music to make the save, and then it's just Konnan running off everyone by himself with one chair. Huh.

After the Sect leave, Zorro gets to crow about beating Mesias. That's beating Mesias? Anyway, he talks about winning the title at TripleMaina. Prez. Roldan shows up to hear Zorro rant more, and announce Konnan as his second for the match. Poor Kenzo. Roldan doesn't seem to like that idea of Zorro having someone there.

Vignette: Konnan yelling at the camera. Why are they all hanging out in a bathroom? Why is Jack there and not Teddy? So many questions. Anyway, the Legion have taken over the show for the moment to make another recruiting pitch.

Vignette: Elsewhere, Cibernetico can believe Zorro beat him last week. Charly tells him he was robbed, he'll totally win at TripleMania. Chessman figures they'll show the Legion, if they try to come at the Hell Brothers as a group, the Hell Brothers will come back at them together.

Match 6: Cuervo (c), Escoria, Espíritu vs Charly Manson, Chessman, Cibernetico (c)
Auditorio Carlos Serdan Arechavaleta de Veracruz, 05/02/08

Winner: Hell Brothers
Match Time: 5:07
Other Match Notes: Cibernetico seems to have a limp. Sect jump the tecnicos. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Beatdown. Some whip spot with Cibernetico must've gone unbelievably wrong, based on the length of the crowd shot. It's hard to take the Sect much serious here, based on them never ever winning this matchup. Cibernetico starts the comeback at about 3:45, evading a corner whip. Sect hold out a little but, but Manson sends two of them out and takes them out with a tope. Cibernetico and Chessman are left in with Scoria. Chessman superkicks him. Both whip him to a corner, Chessman's whipped in for a clothesline, Chessman whips Cuervo out – no, Cuervo reverses it, and Chessman spears his own partner! Both Cuervo and Cibernetico are a little surprised, but Cuervo's clothesline misses and Cibernetico chokeslams him very easily. One two three. That was quick.

Cibernetico checks on Chessman for a second before Mesias' music starts to play. He and Ozz walk out so Mesias can stand on the stage cut the Mesais promo – but Nicho walks right by, snatches the mic, and starts his own promo! What the heck, how random. Nicho goes in the ring, yelling at Charly Manson. He's got one question for him – what group is this best? Nicho throws the mic up in the air, Charly reaches up to catch, and Nicho socks him in the gut and starts punching. Chessman want to help out, but Cibernetico blocks his path for god knows what reason. Not that it matters for long, because Mesias and the Sect swarm those two. Prez Rodan's music plays – he's probably not going to be of much help here, even if he has a chair. Actually, al the rudos do take off, so just like what happened with Zorro a match before. HMMMM. Sect leaves, just in time for Zorro to show up. The second issues comes up again, and Cibernetico figures the best solution is for Roldan to be his second. Zorro's more than okay with that, and Roldan accepts. No reaction shot for the HBs, though Charly seems to be clapping. Chessman and Cibernetico seem to be on good terms, so that was just random ness for one day, or a clip for a video package to come.

Replays and that's it.
