AAA Mini Line - 05/03/08 (#831)
Recap: 05/31/08
video package mania: recap of Rey de Reyes (and after, since there's Jack Evans in here), with post match comments sprinkled in. Zorro's win, the ladder match, the Legion doing a lot but Parka coming back, and Cibernetico winning the title are all shown.
Video Package: El Gato. Which nicely gives this match a reason to exist.
Match 1: Picudo & Toxico AAA vs Argenis & Gato Eveready
Plaza de Toros de Torreon, Coahuila, 04/05/08
Winner: Tecnicos
Match Time: 7:05
Notes: Toxico seems to have acquired metallic shoulder pads from the
Vipers. Picudo is still doing the Kiss gimmick, despite being the group being
down to just him now. His ring gear is very Diabolico-ese. The video board
actually says Gato Eveready this week. Break after entrance. Pepe Casas is ref.
Long look at the crowd to start the match, and Argenis and Picudo are done by the time they turn back. They seem like they're about to pull the same trick with Toxico and Gato, but head back to the ring in time. The crowd shots featured a lot of shots of Cibernetico fans making sure that we knew they're Cibernetico fans as they put on their Cibernetico masks, so I'm thinking their some talk show peoples I'm just not aware of and some angle's going down later. Rudos take control about 2:40 in, but Gato turns it around on by tricking Picudo into helping him crotch his partner. (The "trick" is just high ten-ing him and asking for him to do it. Picudo is very dumb here.) Rudos argue themselves into positions to take a double tope. Argenis comes up holding his right groin, apparently hurting it in the landing. There might be a clip out here. Toxico gets Gato up for a valaguesa, and Gato escapes by Toxico just letting go. I think Gato may be a magic cat, because that's the only way this works. Gato nearly gets the win with a backwards campana before Picudo breaks it up, but Toxico ends up booting his own partner out. Argenis was standing around outside watching, but wakes up enough to climb the ropes and get in a moonsault on Picudo. Argenis is supposed to be a parody, right? He's impossible even one more note in this match. Inside, Gato gets a rolling abdominal stretch, then an X-Factor, then a casita for the win.
Gato is far to excited about beating Toxico and hugs a bemused Pepe Casas.
Match 2: Mascarita de la Muerte, Mini Abismo Negro (c), Mini Histeria vs Mascarita
Sagrada 2007 (c), Mini Dizzy, Octagoncito
Plaza de Toros de Torreon, Coahuila, 04/05/08
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 11:54
Notes: Still weird to get Mini Dizzy with no Dizzy making TV. Copetes
refs. Focus is on Sagrada/Abismo. Sagrado ends up with the satellite armbar late,
but Mini Abismo escapes fairly and gives Sagrada face first powerbomb
before finishing him off with a top rope frog splash.
Noti AAA
- Video Package: Mini Abismo and Mr. Niebla's fight into the crowd
at Rey de Reyes. Abismo rants that he's not with the Hell Brothers, he's not
with the Vipers, he's with only himself and that's the way he wants it.
- highlights from the Dark match as they talk about new talent in AAA
- another Rey de Reyes video package with dramatic classical music
Vignette: Billy Boy tries to talk to Fabi again, backstage. (They haven't figured out how to get the humming of machines out of here, and distracts from the music.) Fabi explains Billy can make it up to her by, I dunno, throwing this match. Billy's not sure about this idea for some reason. I bet he think Mari would kill him.
Match 3: Fabi Apache & Gran
Apache vs Billy Boy & Mari
Apache in a
relevos increíbles match
Plaza de Toros de Torreon, Coahuila, 04/05/08
Winner: Fabi and Gran
Match Time: 6:01
Other Match Notes: Teams enter in their usual alignment, but that's not
the teams we're actually working with here. Hijo de Tirantes referees here.
Usual post-entrance break.
The match starts with Billy and Gran doing the some chain wrestling, but whoever's editing gets bored of that and crowd shots us ahead to Billy vs Fabi, already in progress. Billy does hiptoss his wife and teases a kiss, but Fabi shoves him away. Billy asks for a handshake instead, doesn't get it, and kinda half hearted waves Mari in, while Fabi is walking away. Billy nearly causes Fabi to be killed by doing this, but she realizes her sister is in ahead of time and is able to completely control her. Mari's set out with a headscissors, and Fabi attempts to dive after her. Gran Apache, Fabi's partner, cuts her off with...a hug. Gran Apache explains it was just a coincidence he stopped Fabi from taking out Mari, then drops Billy as eh charge sin. Gran Apache holds Billy for Fabi to hit, but Fabi whips him in the ropes instead. Gran Apache gets in some slaps and holds Billy again, but Fabi is conflicted. Actually, not so much conflicted, Fabi turns to walk away of this. Gran Apache proves he's an evil genius once more, whipping Billy into Fabi as she walks away. Fabi turns around and thinks Billy attacked her, of course, and has no problem dropkicking him in the face. Gran Apache is the happiest man in the world, but then much less so when Fabi grabs Mari as she charges in, and tells Gran Apache to hit her sister and his tag team partner. Gran Apache thinks about it, polls the crowd some, and basically stalls until Mari can get loose and turn the tied. It only lasts for seconds before Fabi can whip Mari into the corner and big boot her. Gran Apache charges in behind, teasing a big slap, but stopping short and helping Mari get safely out of the ring.
Fabi demands an explanation, but Gran Apache is saved by Billy charging in with a clothesline. Gran Apache ducks, and Billy holds up just in time to not hit Fabi. Billy pauses for a second, Gran Apache tries to boot him, Billy unpauses in time to move out of the way, and Gran Apache boots Fabi. So confusing, including Billy being sorta happy about that. Billy and Gran Apache get in a chop fight, Billy wins and gets a kick. Billy puts on an armbar abdominal stretch. Gran Apache yells for help, Fabi comes in, thinks about it, decides not to help. Gran Apache is actually able to walk the hold over to the ropes, and get a hand on (or near) the middle rope near Fabi to break it. While Hijo de Tirantes wants Billy Boy, Gran Apache slaps Fabi for not breaking it up. Billy cradles Gran Apache for two. Shoulderblock, off the ropes, Mari gets Billy with a knee and holds hi. Gran Apache charges with a slap, but Billy ducks it and Gran Apache slaps his other daughter. He's going to need a new one soon. Billy superkicks Gran Apache out, and dives after him with a tope. Women back in, and Fabi ducks a Mari wheel kick, ducks a clothesline, catches a kick, and spins her with a dragon screw. Crowd - women, mostly - LOUD for Fabi. Running tornado DDT sends Mari out, and Fabi is quick to the apron for a jumping headscissors on the floor. Inside, Billy gets Gran Apache with a missile dropkick for two. Billy off the ropes, back with a 'rana, one two NO. Billy tries a bodyscissors but gets shoved down into a face first powerbomb. Gran Apache calls him move, and picks up Billy for the crucifix bomb. Mari rushes in - and fakes a knee injury, so she can't save her partner. Fabi dropkicks her down, Mari rolls out, Fabi starts running, and Gran Apache is able to trip her up while still holding Billy Boy in the air. Unfortunately, he lets Billy drop free behind him to argue with Fabi over that trip. Fortunately, he moves as Billy tries to dropkick him, and Fabi takes it this time. Slap for Billy, quick face first crucifix bomb, picked right back up for a standard crucifix powerbomb one two three. Jesus is completely confused about who won this. The way Mari Apache is celebrating, I can see the problem.
Mari brings in a chair before helping Gran Apache stomps Billy Boy. Gran Apache tries to give Billy a big chair shot, but Fabi runs in, grabs the chair, and backs the other two off. They leave. Fabi starts to check on Billy, but Mari rushes back in, forearms her in the back, and kills her again with the Michinoku Driver! Gran Apache and Mari Apache celebrate again. Hijo de Tirantes is very put off by Mari and Gran Apache raising their arms, since it's Fabi and Gran Apache who actually won. Billy Boy wakes up just in time to see his wife out on the mat.
Vignette: The Mexican Powers start to discuss this upcoming match, but Juvi's very troubled by Joe Lider's actions in the ladder match. He did totally backstab Juvi to win the ladder match. Juvi emphasizes that it's got to be about the Mexican Powers, not individuals.
Match 4: Jack Evans, Kenzo Suzuki, Teddy Hart vs Joe Lider, Juventud Guerrera, Ultimo Gladiador
Plaza de Toros de Torreon, Coahuila, 04/05/08
Winner: Legion
Match Time: 16:34
Other Match Notes: Lots of confetti. Konnan comes out after Kenzo to
introduce Jack and Teddy as Kenzo's surprise partners. Jack Evans is part of the
Hart Family for the purpose of this tag team. Jack breakdances for Juvi, does
not seem to impress him. Copetes is the referee.
Hooray for repeated crowd shots. Hooray for Juvi and Kenzo attempting to chain wrestle. Kenzo breaks this off to pose for the crowd in a Juvi like manner, which is much better than Juvi doing it. Another clip! The first we see of the new Hart Foundation is Juvi giving them a double shiranui. And another clip. This is AAA. Somehow, they're all outside and Kenzo has single handily got his team in control. Teddy takes out Lider and Gladiador with at op rope moonsault. Juvi pulls Jack Evans in, but Jack turns it around to handspring moonsault headscissors to the floor on Lider. Arturo Rivera laughs in delight for that move. Everyone gets in a huddle so Juvi can do a plancha, but that kinda pales to the rest. MPs are randomly back in control and pose in the ring. Replay of Jack's awesome dive while everyone gets rest in the ring.
Lider and Evans look to start out, but we're all distracted by Kenzo dancing lewdly on the apron. He's even stranger than usual this week. Pelvic thrusts! Evans and Lider in a strike battle is interesting. Very unusually, Joe Lider does a single chop and milks the big reaction, instead of his usual tactic of doing as many moves as usual. Jack stuns Lider with a superkick, but Lider takes off his head with a big boot to the head. STO variant for a near fall. Teddy breaks that up, slams Lider, and gets him with a rope flip moonsault. Crowd chants Mexico, which causes Teddy to show off his headlocks and fujiwara armbar. Teddy flips off Juvi when he comes up in to break it up, so Juvi gets a running start to make it hurt a bit more. Teddy gets Copetes to warn the MPs, so Kenzo slips in and low blow stomps Lider in the meantime. That was great. Tecnicos take turns doing moves until Kenzo decides to run in and hit everyone with a (non folding) chair he happened to have. Juvi tries to German suplex him, and Kenzo just cranks him with a heel kick for a foul. Beatdown from there, though the MPs lay in the ring rather than roll out. You can tell Jack's new here, because he actually goes back to the apron as if he has to be tagged in. Kenzo lifts Gladiador on to his back in a fireman's carry position, and Jack jumps off Gladiador into a moonsault on Lider. Announcers are way impressed. Evans adds a tornillo elbow drop. Kenzo, perhaps motivated by his teammates performance, goes to the top rope, but gets all shaky and comes back down. Kenzo decides to pose instead. Match comes to a halt while the tecnicos all roll out and the rudos have no one to beat on. Juvi comes in and Kenzo puts head in to Juvi's crotch and starts - biting? Not a foul? I don't want to think about this too much. Jack stands in his corner while Teddy and Kenzo taunt Juvi some. Kenzo gives Juvi with a sleeper and pulls him down to the mat, but Juvi breaks free before Teddy can hit the top rope SSP. Comeback starts there and is all over the place. Gladiador gets Evans with a facelock tapatia of all things. Lider adds a dropkick. Neckbreaker/backbreaker combo for Teddy. Both are held over knees for a Juvi springboard double guillotine legdrop. Juvi actually covers Teddy and Gladiador figures he might as well cover Jack, but Kenzo breaks it up. Kenzo and Lider are left in, Lider gets a stunner, Teddy breaks up the pin. Teddy gives Lider a modified backstabber. and poses. Ultimo Gladiador comes in, superkicks Teddy out, and follows with a tope. Jack and Teddy last in, Juvi gets Jack with a a punch flurry. Jack whipped into the corner, Lider whipped into with to hit a leg lariat, Jack whipped out to a Juvi pumphandle powerbomb, Jack landing hard. Juvi covers - oh, no, Joe Lider pulls him off, does he want the pin? He's telling Juvi to go up instead of covering - and that backfires, Kenzo laying out Lider from behind with a flying knee, and Teddy knocking Juvi off the top rope. Kenzo pulls Juvi in position for a powerbomb, but Juvi opts to fall down instead. Kenzo pulls him in position, and Jack adds a 630 senton. One two three.
Konnan reappears to congratulate the team about the win and rub it in the faces of the fans.
Vignette: Mesias rants to Ozz and Cuervo. They're going for revenge against the Legion, and then he's getting the title back form Cibernetico and the Hell Brothers. It's still the era of the Hell Brothers. The Sect still seems like they're with him strongly.
Match 5: Cuervo, Mesias (c), Ozz vs Alan
Stone (c), El Elegido, Laredo Kid
Plaza de Toros de Torreon, Coahuila, 04/05/08
Winner: Tecnicos, by DQ, but only technically
Match Time:
13:00
Other Match Notes: Pepe Casas is ref. Rudos jump the tecnicos at the
bell. I can't believe that took five matches to happen. Total destruction by the
rudos for moments. Mesias' is the focus of the offense, and Laredo takes the
most visual punishment - ripped mask, busted open head. Laredo is finally able
to turn it around after 6:30, with the other two tecnicos passing thru just long
enough to tope the Sect duo. Laredo and Mesias are left in, and Mesias dominates
Laredo some more, stomping and throwing him around, while pointing out how it's
a mismatch. Laredo's thrown to the outside, and Mesias stands on the apron
posing. CLIP. CLIP.
Alan is dancing after sending people out, presumably, but the rudos are back in control and stomping him down. Alan does get a comeback, but only against the two Sect wrestlers. Same with Elegido. Alan actually gets a little on Mesias, but it falls apart quick when Laredo tries to help out. Mesias brings in a table while the tecnicos have a short run in the ring, and is able to turn the tide himself. Elegido is setup up very carefully, but badly press slammed to the floor on Alan (who can't caught him.) Laredo, now with his fear having being ripped off, is brought back in by Mesias. He finally manages some offense this time, dropkicking him and enziguri-ing him, but Mesias flattens him with a spear, and powerbombs him onto the table. Table does not split, the legs just give out instead. The top of the table is set in the corner, and Laredo is powerbombed it hard. Wow, tables are DQs now! Who knew. Can't really blame Mesias for that loss, it's been legal plenty of times before.
Mesias buries Laredo under a table, just so the imagery is not only figuratively. Crowd chants for Cibernetico, who is here but probably not showing up right now. Mesias uses the broken legs on Laredo, then yanks him around the ring for more. More is heavily covered with crowd shots, so who knows. Mesias gets to rant too, boo.
Match 6: Zorro vs Cibernetico
Plaza de Toros de Torreon, Coahuila, 04/10/08
Winner: Cibernetico
Match Time: 14:13
Other Match Notes: Konnan apparently hit the ring before the show was
rejoined, because he's there clapping for Zorro when he enters with his giant
sword. Charly Manson does get an entrance.
Slow start. Zorro's evasive, then tries a test of strength. No good. Chops, no good. Zorro gets in an eye poke to get some control. Chop. Cibernetico slowly backed to the ropes. Whip, reversed, and we watch Zorro past twice before they cut out to a clip. POOR. Zorro goes outside for a timeout after we come back. Konnan's been watching this from the apron this whole time, and does not drop down to help out despite Cibernetico slowly chasing Zorro around the ring. Hijo de Tirantes has to do it, and Zorro gets in the ring with just enough time to stomp Cibernetico coming in. Zorro slowly works over Cibernetico, including clipping out a knee. Zorro takes time to look at the crowd and taunt Charly, ignoring Cibernetico getting up right behind him. Zorro turns around and tries to punch Cibernetico, but Cibernetico blocks it and punches him three times. Hijo de Tirantes busies himself with Charly, and so misses Konan rushing Cibernetico from behind, forearming him down, and stomping him into the mat.
Konnan leaves, and Zorro continues his slow work on Cibernetico. Again, ii doesn't last long before Cibernetico comes back, tossing Zorro to the apron on a corner charge. Zorro manages to get in another eye poke and punches from there, but stops to talk for no reason and Cibernetico punches him down. Cibernetico pulls him up by his hair and tosses him back in the ring. You can see Konan decide if this is when he's supposed to come back in, and eventually does, breaking up a Cibernetico powerbomb set up with a clothesline. Hijo de Tirantes is nowhere to be seen, but presumably with Charly again. And again, Zorro can get no real offense in this match, he's saved by Konnan attacking from behind. Hijo de Tirantes turns around, sees Konnan punching Cibernetico form the corner of his eye, and has to turn back towards Charly some more. CHINLOCK. Look, I don't watch lucha libre to see bad US style matches. This is a very typical rest hold. Cibernetico battles back, elbows out, off the ropes, and Zorro gets his him with a clothesline around the neck. Long crowd shot clip. Zorro goes for the cane, gets caught, and lets it go. HEADLOCK. This is the most basic match on the show. Cibernetico shot in the ropes, Hijo de Tirantes looks at Charly for no reason, and Zorro gets the cane and lights Cibernetico up with it. Hijo de Tirantes sees the last shot, a low blow, and get to notDQ Zorro. CHINLOCK. Crowd is hot, but hot at Hijo de Tirantes for being a crappy referee. Cibernetico gets free with a back suplex, and both men are down. Whip, Zorro sleeper. This one puts Cibernetico and the crowd to sleep. They do the three arm raise bit - this is a match straight out of 80s WWF, if I haven't made it clear - Cibernetico gets his arm up on the third one, Konnan starts to run in for the spot they're going to do after Cibernetico breaks free, only Cibernetico doesn't move and Konnan has to be kicked out by Hijo de Tirantes. I don't know what happened, but that's when you're supposed to get out. Cibernetico stands up, Zorro hops on his back, and Cibernetico fades again. This is a totally useless match. They do a one arm drop this time, Cibernetico gets up at one, then rams Zorro face first into the corner to get free. (Sleeper time: 1:45!) Clothesline for Zorro, Clothesline for Konnan, spear, pin on Zorro but Hijo de Tirantes ignored it to watch Charly come in, Charly run, and Charly topes Konnan. Cibernetico stops pinning Zorro and brings him in the middle of the ring for a punch, but Zorro begs off forever. Time stops. Cibernetico grabs Zorro by the hair. Time stops again. Zorro eventually tosses Cibernetico out. Cibernetico grabs his cane, as Charly stomps Konnan some more on on the outside. Mesias appears from nowhere, and rushes Cibernetico, hitting with a chair to the gut. Zorro tires to cane Cibernetico, gets Mesias, and isn't too sad about it. Cibernetico comes back in, and Zorro walks in while watching Mesias the whole time. This is dumb. Cibernetico kicks him, Stunner, no, Zorro shoves him off. Cibernetico ducks the clothesline and locks on the chokeslam, but Mesias breaks that up with a chairshot. Zorro figures he might as well cover, even thought's it's clear Hijo de Tirantes isn't going to allow that. Mesias throws Zorro off the pin, and Hijo de Tirantes raises Cibernetico's arm. DQ.
Zorro shoves Mesias, then turns around. Dumb move, Mesias knocks him down and stomps. Mesias stomps Charly, covering up Cibernetico, and Ozz and Cuervo rush in to help stomp. Konnan comes in and gets stomped, so he waves in the Legion - Jack Evans, Teddy Hart and Kenzo Suzuki stomp- well, Cibernetico and Charly, because the Sect splits.
President Roldan shows up, but it takes a while for this to go anywhere. And the ranting doesn't seem to go anywhere except kill some time. That's it.
