AAA Mini Line - 03/29/08 (#826)
Recapped: 05/02/08
Promo: Electroshock says he's going to Rey de Reyes. Kenzo talks in Japanese and says he's doing it for the samuaris! All the participants in the main event cage match will do the same interview
Match 1: Barba Roja, Drake Morgan, Pirata Morgan (c), Pirata Morgan Jr. vs Alan
(c), Javi, Kevin, Ricky
Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba, 03/01/08
Winner: Pirates
Match Time: 11:35
Notes: Hey, it's the new Barrio Boys. With absolutely no introduction.
Ricky is wearing a black flack jacket and looks vaguely familiar, Alan is the
Alan from the original group, Javy is the guy from the Kumbia Kids but we don't
get a good shot of him or Kevin right away. They choose a shot of them entering
from far away as possible, just to make this impossible. Break before this gets
going, because you absolutely must stay tuned to see the Barrios Boys vs the
Pirates! Piero is your ref.
Barba Roja at least has the red beard going, but this is still tough to tell apart when I don't half the guys. Pirates end up quickly jump the Barrio Boys. I think this is Warrior Kevin with blond hair, but I'm not more than 70% sure. Some brawling, some double teams out of the pirates. Not a lot compelling. Alan reveres a Pirata Sr. powerbomb into a faceslam (sorta) and then there's a whole convoluted reversal sequence with another pirate before things get going. Both Alan and Kevin look to be going working hard just in case it makes a difference. Barrios have nice dives - Kevin with slingshot senton, Alan with a running tornillo and Javi with a twisting tope con giro. Ricky's shown the least during the match to that point, but gets in a twisting splash on Pirata Sr. for a near fall. Should've end there, but more spots to get in. Openers really shouldn't go ten minutes - they're openers. Pirates get in stereo quebradas but the pinfalls are all confused to follow up. Alan seem to backdrop himself and it counts as Barba Roja taking a DDT. All the no captains end up in together, then slowly go thru triple spots. Jr. Pirates end up with a triple tope, and now Alan and Pirata Sr. really have to go to the finish. Alan lands a plancha, dropkick to the knee (Pirata Sr. taking a clip bump) and Alan trips him up - for two. Alan escapes a tilt-a-whirl but gets stuck in a sleeper. Pirata takes him down into a double armbar submission for the win. That must be what he was doing last week. The pirates finally found someone they could beat. Too bad it was the Barrio's debut.
Promos: It's the year of the Guapos VIP, Zumbido and Guapito assure us.
Match 2: Gran Apache, Jerrito Estrada, Mari Apache (c), Yuriko vs Estrellita, Gato Eveready, Octagoncito, Pimpinela Escarlata
Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba, 03/01/08
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 12:12
Notes: No entrances here either. They haven't been doing nearly as many
Relevos AAA matches lately. Weren't the announcers saying the Night Queens were
not exoticos? Maybe I parsed their words wrong. Jerrito Estrada and Gran Apache
have matching gear, which is kinda random but good. Copetes is your ref.
Mari starts with Estrellita but really would rather fight the cat. So he comes in, and Mari ends up kicking him right in the face. RUN CAT RUN. He ends being beat and bailing. What a tecnico! Jerrito tags in so this match can actually continue, and Octagoncito faces him. That goes okay. Estrellita pretty much gets the better of Yuriko next, until Gran Apache breaks it up wit ha slap to the backside. Gran Apache has no problem punching a woman and dancing after. Estrellita does the Shocker/UG reversal spot and gets in an armdrags and a a springboard headscissors, but Apache sidesteps a dropkick and slaps her down again. Whip, reversed, Estrellita runs in and Apache dumps her. Estrellita on the apron, slaps Apache from there, and waves Pimpi in - top rope armdrags on Gran Apache. Pimpi gets Gran apache with a reverse bodyscissors armdrags, and much more devastatingly, a kiss. Gran Apache runs from his life to avoid more, and Pimpi ends up kissing a guy in the front row by accident. Gato comedy next, with Gran Apache accidentally slapping everything and some spot going so wrong the crowd dies after it. They need to clip these BEFORE they go for the move, not just when it happens. You kinda know what went wrong - Gato must've blown a springboard here. Rudos take over from here, about 6 minutes in.
Beatdown has some combos, but the crowd doesn't really get into it. Comeback spot seems like a goof - Gato is thrown to Yuriko for a powerbomb, but she can't make the catch and Gato ends up with a silla, sitting on top of Yuriko. It seems like she just lost her balance until the tecnicos rush the ring. I don't know that they're really covering, since the rudos calmly walk to their places to get knocked down by the tecnicos. Mari accidentally whips Estrellita into a tope on to her father. Mari starts to go the apron to dive on someone, but no one's there, so she just stands there on the apron waiting while people reassemble in the ring. The flow of the match has been lost. Gato is really slow thru his sequence and eventually does a lame plancha. Jerrito is quicker getting in handspring tornillo. Pimpi does a dive from the ropes onto the pile, and Octagoncito topes everyone with his twisting top rope Asai Moonsault. Gran Apache teases jumping onto the pile, gets running - and then stops. AH, he'll climbing to the rope instead - fat tope con giro onto the floor. Yuriko stands on the ropes for no reason, Estrellita stops her with punches and climbs up. Mari easily knocks her off the ropes and knocks her into the ring, then flattens her with a missile dropkick. Shining Wizard, that's it sign, Apache Driver. Dr. Morales call of the move: "AAAAGH!" Yea, pretty much. Estrellita is stretchered out after the match.
Noti AAA
- hype for Rey de Reyes, including the ladder match (250,000!), Cibernetico
vs Mesias (revenge!), Scott Steiner, and an Eddie Guerrero memorial.
- Gato Eveready's entrance - show this after his match? Well okay. Jesus and
Gato talk about how impressive Gato is.
- keys keys keys
Match 3: Killer Clown, Psycho Clown, Zombie Clown vs Cuervo, Espíritu, Ozz
Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba, 03/01/08
Winner: Clowns
Match Time: 9:25
Other Match Notes: Clowns steal a child like usual, but the Sect are not
playing - they attack the Clowns while they Clown still has a child in his hand
(and almost drops him - good save by security.) Break before the match actually
starts.
Sect brawls with the Clowns and they're far more on the defensive than in any match to this fight. Sect makes liberal uses of chairs, which certainly helps. Hijo de Tirantes is referee and of course isn't doing anything about it. The beatdown carries over in the ring, including a triple blockbuster suplex on Psycho Clown. Sect are able to keep the Clowns separates and take advantage of the numbers. This works even though Ozz walks off about 2:30 into get a wood panel. Sect try giving Killer Clown a double suplex thru the table, but Killer Clown blocks it and suplexes them to start the comeback. It's quickly a beatdown the other way. Clowns go out of their way not to use the table, which means this is going back the other way one more time. Ozz gets enough of an opening to get his top rope tornillo on Killer Clown, but one random crowd shot later, he's down for no particular reason. Clowns give him the Guerreros sit. Finally, the Clowns give Ozz a triple press slam thru the table for the pin. Good that was immediately the finish.
Since they didn't get a kid, the clowns try to bag themselves on Ozz. Cuervo makes the save. He still gets beat down, but the Clowns are too busy celebrating to finish bagging Ozz at that point.
Vignette: Alan Stone talks about his chances.
Match 4: Konnan, Ron Killings, Zorro vs Charly Manson, Chessman, Juventud Guerrera
Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba, 03/01/08
Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 7:55
Other Match Notes: Pepe Casas is the ref here, and Alicia is with the
rudos.) Match really never comes together to any flow. Part of it's the clipping
that goes on, and part of it's Konnan physical state - he can't do much, and
what he can do doesn't look good. (Like a X-Factor in this match. Zorro gets a
completely clean STF submission on Charly for the win, and Konnan crows about
the success of the Legion after the match.
Promo: Porky tries to make the case he's good looking enough to be Rey de Reyes. I dunno.
Match 5: Histeria, Mr. Niebla, Psicosis II vs Gronda II, Laredo Kid, Octagón
Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba, 03/01/08
Winner: Vipers
Match Time: 6:31
Other Match Notes: Break after introductions, but the Vipers attack
before hand anyway. Piero is ref.
Vipers waste no time going to chair shots, which don't really mean anything. Laredo Kid is press tossed thru a couple of them., then pressed into the fifth row (good thing they had it cleared.) Groon evades a corner charge to start the comeback at about four minutes. Octagon tope. Gronda does an apron double clothesline and Laredo does a twisting moonsault to the floor. Octagon and Niebla are left in, and Octagon gets a bodyscissors cradle for a near fall, but Piero is slow getting into position. Niebla whiffs on the handspring elbow, Octagon takes forever to climb the ropes, and gets hit over by a chair. Niebla puts him in the Nieblina for the big win. This is about how Octagon should be used right now.
Abismo Negro is out after the match, and beats the Vipers one on three. This is helped by them attacking one at a time. Unfortunately for Abismo, just when he's about to give the Martiente special to Niebla, he's distracted by Zorro entering. Zorro claps for Abismo, but no one seem to quite believe it. Zorro offers the hand one more time, then urns away and comes back with a big cane shot to the head. Another one to the head knock him down, and Zorro beats a mean while he's down. Electroshock, Kenzo Suzuki, Konnan and Ron Killings join a stomp down of Abismo. Laredo wakes up enough to fail at making a save. After he's thrown down, Piero tells Laredo to stay down and get out of the way of the angle. Prez Roldan and his security show up - and the Legion immediately beats up the security. For some reason, Roldan thinks it's a good idea to stick around. Just when it looks like the Legion might be getting to him, Cibernetico's music plays. There's a clip in here, and they jump ahead to Cibernetico already in the ring with Killings, Konnan and Roldan bailing. Zorro's almost chokeslammed until Kenzo intervenes. Stunner for Kenzo, kick wham Stunner for Electro, Zorro tries to flee but can't make it thru the ropes. Whip - and Zorro just grabs the ropes and gets out. Hey, Zorro's no dope! Cibernetico rips off his shirt because it's restraining him from talking. Cibernetico's seems to have lost some upper body mass. Ciber says he's the next heavyweight champ, and he's siding with all the AAA and HBs guys to take care of the Legion and the Sect. He's coming for Mesias, even though Mesias ain't here. Legion think about storming the ring, think better when the tecnicos in the match and Anismo have Cibernetico's back.
Match 6: Alan Stone vs Brazo de Plata vs El Elegido
vs Zumbido vs Electro Shock vs Escoria vs Intocable vs Kenzo Suzuki in a domed cage match where the first four who escape advance to Rey de Reyes
Plaza de Toros la Concordia de Orizaba, 03/01/08
Winners: Zumbido, Elegido, Alan Stone and Super Porky
Match Time: 15:07
Other Match Notes: Porky needs help getting into the ring, and thru the
door. Intocable does the worst cartwheel. Match actually starts before the break, but
only a couple seconds before.
There must be no "must wait" period because everyone's trying to climb from the get go. Lots of people being battling over climbing to kill some time. Rudos all get along, even those seemingly on feuding teams. Porky does a corner sit onto all of them. The tecnicos all knocked own the rudos together, dances for them, and started climbing. Rudos caught up with most of them, but Alan was hanging from near the top for quite a while. Escoria was finally able to just lung at him from the top rope to get him down. With everyone else occupied, Zumbido slowly climbs up the cage. Intocable fought him, but then they decided to climb as they fought, hanging fro m the top of the cage. Intocable couldn't hang on, but Zumbido could. He sure took his time, though I think he was having much more problems climbing out of the cage that he thought. Or maybe he was just stalling for Alan to climb up and knock him down, since that's what happened. Kenzo climbs up after Alan and takes him down with a testicular claw, which no one needed to see. Intocable climbed up to kick Kenzo down, but then lets go of the cage himself. That's why he's Intocable.
Seems like Elegido gets his trunks pulled but that image gets pulled from our sight. Rudos generally take over, though Porky kinda wanders around instead of getting beat. Zumbido rushes up the cage one more time, and after the same crowd shots we keep seeing, climbs out. I don't think Zumbido could figure out how to get all the way out once he got near the top, but he eventually figured it out. Elegido and Alan both get away from the rudos at the same time and climb out. Elegido is out first, and Alan has to keep lifting his legs out to evade being pulled down. Meanwhile, Ozz, Cuervo and Espiritu are at ringside, and handing in furniture to the rudos. Hey, the same crowd shots they keep on showing. I don't know why they keep showing the same ones, but whatever. Porky ends moving out of the way of an Electro charge and uses his fatness to run over Kenzo while Intocable takes care of Scoria. Intocable is so concerned about winning Rey de Reyes that he holds the ladder while Porky climbs out. This is still going to be kinda tough for him. Kenzo and Electro stop Porky's climb, so Porky climbs down to take care of them. Elegido starts to climb up to help, but Porky and Intocable get matters well in hand by trapping the rudos under the ladder while Porky climbs. Intocable holds the ladder while Porky reaches to the top. Elegido and Alan climb the cage to help pull Porky over - the top step just gets Porky even with the hole in the top. Porky gets hanging on the top rope of the cage, but the ladder slips away. Intocable resets the ladder, Porky pushes off of it, and makes it on top.
Intocable does explain himself after the match. Porky deserved it more and Intocable hopes he gets another shot, I think. At least they asked this time.
That's it.
