AAA Mini Line - 01/19/08
Recapped: 01/20/08
Open is done in the ring, since the first part was on the stage.
Super Fly wishes us a happy new year. There's one from X-Pac in English a little later.
The first half hour of the show are clips from the tag team title match and the title match. They focus on the injury angles, showing the fire table spot and footage of Cibernetico looking like a burnt sausage before showing that match.
Noti AAA
- Crazy Boy's injury. For no particular reason, they've added security
camera graphics to the footage that was on the internet, I guess to explain the
low quality footage. What they do have that I didn't see in the original video
is a second angle, showing someone completely missing Crazy Boy on the catch
from his dive. It's because Crazy got slipped and got no distance on his dive,
but a more experienced guy might have stood a chance.
- Cibernetico's burnt up back look so disgusting
Match 1: Escoria, Diabolica vs Mari
Apache, Gran Apache vs Histeria, Ayako Hamada vs
Billy Boy, Fabi Apache for the vacant AAA Mixed Tag
Team Championship
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 11/30/07
Winner: Mari Apache & Gran Apache, 5th Champions
Match Time: 21:59
Notes: Some changes here - Mr. Niebla's in a left arm sling, so
Histeria's here to take his place. The Morenos team are the last to be announced,
but only Oriental is out with both belts and Prez Roldan (who's got no
time for Oriental's posing on the stage.) Announcers have no idea what's up.
Billy and Fabi have shinny gold outfits. Both Apaches come out to the same
music, which I think is a mistake but I'm never too sure. Did We Will Rock You
get revoked? Hijo de Tirantes is ref and has his top hat again. Roldan explains
that Cinthia's injured and can not wrestle tonight, so the titles are
vacant. Oriental talks about his sister's injury and such, but I'm
distracted by Histeria stealing Tirantes' hat and trying to put it on. Anyway, Oriental
asks for a shot when Cinthia's healthy. As he hangs over the microphone
and turns to leave, Ozz, Scoria, Espiritu come down the aisle with their
own (feedback-ing) microphone. Ozz says they want to win all the titles in
TripleA, so they've got a team to replace the Morenos in this match - Diabolica
and Espiritu. Diabolica's interference was leading somewhere, that's a
surprise. Prez Roldan approves, and states that the Morenos get first title
shot.
Before the match starts, announcers talk about Cinthia taking a Michinoku Driver from Mari (with clip!!!!!) and blame it for the injury. The clip is from the 10/20 taping and does look painful. It could just as much be about building Mari. Announcers call her the Queen of the Michinoku Driver later.
No one can ever agree about who should start the match, so we have discussion, shoving and gentle reminders that we don't like anyone here but Billy and Fabi (and they're rudos half the time.) Billy leaves the rings, leading the three rudos to work out things by themselves. Match starts with Gran Apache and Espiritu, though starts may be too strong word. They've got to yell at the crowd, you see. Lockup, Espiritu armbar, tightening it up, into wristlock to force Apache down to the mat. Apache gets back up to one knee as Espiritu switched to a hammerlock, Apache reverses to his own, then armdrags Espiritu away. Lockup, armbar, snap mare, chinlock. Diabolica complains about it being a choke. Apache stitches to a double wristlock and rolls Espiritu to a backslide, but he headstands out of the pin, Apache armdrags him around, but Espiritu fights back with his own armdrag. Standoff. Lockup, Apache with - an inverted cobra clutch? I have no idea. Apache lets go do take him down, and then scissors Espiritu's leg whiles he's there. Apache nicely rolls it into an reverse figure four, but Espiritu gets the ropes. Espiritu yells at the crowd, and we get a crane shot of them. Lockup, Apache with a go behind, tights the leg and puts a knee in Espiritu's back. Up for an armbar, Espiritu knocked down, picked up while still in the armbar, hammerlock, Espiritu headlock, Apache escapes to an armdrags, Espiritu tries to forward headstand to his feet but splits, which is even better for a rudo. Yelling at the crowd. They're five minutes into this match, by the way.
Both Apache and Espiritu yell at the crowd, and decide to tag in their partners. I can't make out what the rudo fans are chanting, but they've got something going. Lockup, Mari with a trip, Diabolica tries a headscissors from the mat but Mari pushes it away, Diabolica armdrags Mari instead. zero leg trip, zero leg trip, stand/kneel off. Diabolica off the ropes, over, off the other ropes, an armdragging Mari out. Diabolica off the ropes one more time - thru the ropes top con giro! Espiritu collects his partner while Billy and Ayako take over the ring. Replay of the dive. Billy tries to get Ayako to tag in Histeria, but I think Ayako remembers the times she killed him when he was Alfa and isn't too worried. Chest slap to Billy Boy, and another. Billy grabs her by the hair and tries to shake some sense into Ayako, so of course Ayako slips free and spin kicks him in the face. Rudo fans want one more. Billy whipped into the ropes, under, back with a headscissors. Ayako misses a clothesline, Billy does not miss his. Dropkicks ends Ayako flying to the ropes, but Billy turns to celebrate and misses Histeria coming into kick him. Histeria's fired up to have an actual match of importance, kinda breaking into a Histeria strut. Kick to Billy sends him into Fabi's corner. Corner whip, (Billy forgets how big this ring is and turns his back to hit the corner many feet before he gets there, and the rudo fans kill him), Histeria charges in but eats boots Histeria comes back and grabs the boot this time, blocking it and putting Billy on the top rope. Histeria stops to celebrate again, and Billy gives him a flying headscissors to send him out. Dive pose fake and tags. Ayako back in, looking around, and not paying any attention to Fabi coming in ant full speed and dropkicking her. Whip, Ayako does a quebrada on to no one, Fabi running right past. I don't think that was the idea, since Fabi waits for Ayako to get back up to duck a clothesline. Fabi gets Ayako with a spinning armdrags and sends other out with a headscissors, but Histeria cuts her off with a big boot before she can dive. Histeria stops to pose again. I guess he's really trying to fill Mr. Niebla's roll in this one. Speaking of, Histeria brings Fabi over the ropes so Histeria Niebla can get in a free shot from the outside. Fabi's head is hung on the ropes so Ayako can get in her kicks too. Speaking of getting in there spots, Hijo de Tirantes gets to notDQ Mr. Niebla's team for his actions,. Meanwhile, Fabi gets a spinning armdrags on a whip, sending Histeria out. Everyone's been in, back to Espiritu and Gran Apache. This time, no mat wrestling, just punches and chops. Gran Apache knows how to block, so he's got the advantage and Espiritu gets battered. Whip, Gran Apache clothesline misses, Espiritu's dropkick does not. Apache starts to head out and turns around, just in time for Espiritu his springboard dropkick. Standing octopus hold is broken up by Mari Apache just before the ten minute mark.
Mari cuts off Diabolica with a kick as she comes in. Whip, reversed, sunset flip, Diabolica rolls thru and pins Mari with an inverted bulldog. One two no. Whip, reversed, Mari misses a corner clothesline and Diabolica clubs her form behind. Mari turns herself around in the corner so Diabolica can hit a bronco buster. Devil's Wings, one - and Apache slaps her in the back of the head to break that up. Gran Apache figures he might as well go wild with those - slap to Billy! Slap to Fabi! slap to Espiritu! slap to Histeria! slap to Ayako! slap to Hijo de T-awwww, he came to his senses in time. Crowd really wants to see it, but Hijo de Tirantes distracts by trying to notDQ. Mari and Gran Apache whip Diabolica in the corner, Gran Apache follows with a clothesline, Diabolica slips out, Gran Apache turns to slap her as she leaves, but gets Mari (charging in behind) instead! Gran Apache is stunned, and kicked by Diabolica. Whip, reversed, Diabolica barely gets up enough for the 'rana, Apache shoves her off anyway., Diabolica punch blocked, and Gran Apache slaps her down too. "OTRA OTRA" No, Apache's got other ideas. Crucifix powerbomb - reversed into a sunset flip one two NO. Espiritu and Tirantes have a discussion about the count, until Mari kicks Espiritu down. Gran Apache sets up Diabolica and tosses her to Mari for a powerbomb, both cover, one two Espiritu break sit up with kicks and stomps for both of them. Team Viper help Espiritu by holding Gran Apache from the apron while Espiritu gets in a couple more shots. Corner whip, reversed, Espiritu leaps to the apron and fights off Gran Apache form there. Espiritu to the top, leaping off the top rope for a 'rana. He comes up shorter than he wanted. Gran Apache powerbombs him, but Espiritu's head was bouncing off the mat either way. That looked quite painful, but he's moving right away. Mari clears off everyone from the aprons again and gives Espiritu the Michinoku Driver of Death, one two three.
Histeria and Billy clean out Mari and Gran Apache with dropkicks. Billy off the ropes at Histeria, 'rana, one two NO. Billy clothesline caught into a backslide, one two Fabi breaks it up. Fabi whips Histeria as Billy rolls out. Histeria kicks is blocked, he's spun, German suplex by Fabi on Histeria, one two Ayako breaks it up. Ayako corner whips Fabi, but charges right into a thrust kick. Histeria's clothesline is missed, and Fabi gives him a kick enziguri. Ayako clothesline is turned into a Fabi backslide, one two Histeria breaks it up with a hard kick to the backside. Histeria holds Fabi for Ayako, but Fabi ducks the kick catch enziguri and Histeria eats it instead. Fabi takes care of Ayako with a Shining Wizard. Histeria knocks Fabi towards the ropes, but Fabi sidesteps the charge and Histeria ends up swinging thru the ropes and dropkick Gran Apache. Billy back up and thrust kicking Histeria, but he accidentally gets Fabi when she's holding Ayako. Billy continues on with pause, leaping at Histeria with a plancha, but Histeria catches him and gives him a (non-death) Michinoku Driver. Histeria gives Fabi a reverse DDT, and Ayako goes up top for a moonsault, but Fabi gets her boots up. Histeria charges Billy and gets backdropped over the post and out of existence, then superkicks Ayako over to Fabi for a Dragon suplex! One two three.
Mari and Gran Apache are immediately back in and attacking their family members. Dropkick for Billy, slap to the back of the head for Fabi. Fabi's slapped to the apron, and Billy's knocked into the corner. Niebla's helping (somewhat dragging) Ayako to the back, I guess just leaving Histeria behind to die. In the ring, Billy gets clothesline in the corner and boot scraped. Gran Apache gives Billy a inverted body slam, and Mari adds a top rope senton con giro. No pin? I guess they're not done. Fabi's held on the ropes for a bit and boot choked just to do something with her. Whip, double clothesline looks a bit off. Mari whips her again and trips her into the ropes. Gran Apache kicks at her form the outside, and Mari adds a dropkick to the back. Billy back in, but slapped down quickly. Kicked in the back of the head, kicked on both side of the head. Billy manages to take down Mari and attack her, but Gran Apache breaks that up with a slap. Billy's whipped into the corner, but he superkicks Gran Apache as he charges in, and ducks a Mari clothesline. Mari puts him on the top rope when he charges the corner, but Billy drops her with a seated tornado DDT from there, and Fabi comes back tin to give her a running tornado DDT. A zipper on Mari's pants must've broke, because she's trying to fix it everything time she takes a bump. Billy bends over Gran Apache so Fabi can kick him in the backside. Mari gets up and slaps Fabi, but Billy takes care of her with a short clothesline. Double whip, Fabi misses a clothesline, Mari clotheslines Billy. Fabi charges Mari, Mari tilt-a-whirls her, but Fabi gets a bodyscissors cradle for two - thought the crowd thinks it's three. Fabi picks up Mari, but Mari punches her, then knocks her down with a spinning back fist. Billy knocks down Mari with a dropkick, and then had standing off with Gran Apache. Billy off the ropes, sunset flip, one two no. Small package one two no. Billy chop, but Gran Apache knocks him down with a slap. Gran Apache's got yanked off by Billy by accident and the crowd is on him for male pattern baldness. Crucifix powerbomb - no, Fabi breaks that up with a dropkick to the knee. Shining Wizard/kick to the back of the head combo. Mari back in, wheel kick to Billy, clothesline to Fabi misses and she gives Mari an exploder suplex (!) Cover, but a very tired Gran Apache breaks that up. Billy kicks him out while Fabi grabs Mari by her hair and picks her up again - and again, Billy accidentally superkicks his wife. Billy follows up by connected on the next one with Mari, sot hat's something. Whip, reversed, Billy escapes a tilt-a-whirl and knocks down Mar. Cover one two th-NO. Crowd thought it was three again. They're just a bit hyper. Sit down powerbomb, one two Gran Apache breaks it up, much to Hijo de Tirantes' annoyance. Apache goes tack to the apron, but Billy kicks him off to keep him out of the way. Billy charges Mari, Mari scoops him up - Michinoku Driver of death. One two three, Fabi was too late to break it up. Gran Apache & Mari Apache are the new champs.
Break - which is notable, because they went 20 minutes without one. I think they had an extra one or two in the first half hour of recaps, and it worked out nicely here.
Evil Team Apache is handed the belts while Fabi protests and Billy tries to shake off the Michinoku Driver of death. It's a short segment to get in another break.
Chessman wishes us a happy new year on behalf off all the Hell Brothers
Match 2: Extreme Tiger, Halloween vs Sabu,
Teddy Hart vs Crazy Boy, Joe Lider vs Extreme
Tiger, Halloween for the AAA World Tag Team Championship in a ladder
match
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 11/30/07
Winner: Mexican Powers
Match Time: 18:20
Notes: Fireworks for FdT? TJ Extreme is with the tag team here. HBs get
separate entrances so Charly can dance to his cover. HBs are wearing jumpsuits
to the ring. Chessman has a GREEN light entrance. GREEN. It does start turning
red eventually. MPs are third, so the big foreign starts can get the last
entrance. Juvi is not out with his teammates. Crazy & Joe are wearing camouflage. I wish I couldn't see them. Sabu has his ECW music and hearing the
announcers trying to his catchphrase is great. Sabu is announced from India,
though wearing a USA flag as a head dress. Teddy Hart appears to be Teddy Hart.
MPs attempt to slide dropkick a ladder into the Legion team, but the Legion sees
them coming, lifts up the ladder so the MPs and drop them both with a ladder
clothesline before the match even starts. Your tag team champions! Sabu and
Teddy Hart put the ladder back (why?), and Tijuana promptly dropkicks it into
them. Your foreign stars! I'm not doing PBP for this one, let's be real.
Although it is funny to see Halloween and Chessman hit stereo spears. Match is a ladder breaking contest early - people getting suplexed and such on them - which is going make it a bit tougher to win. This crew already has lots of issues with doing big spots that get over because someone else is doing big spots at the same time, and Teddy Hart quickly proves his fits in too well, doing a big Asai Moonsault while Sabu and Crazy Boy are working a sequence in the ring. Why would you powerbomb a guy onto your own shins? It's very impressive that Teddy is agile to do it, but wouldn't it hurt you a lot less if you dropped him on the mat? The in-ring portion of the match is laid out to take turns showcasing guys with everyone else hanging out outside, rather than a back and forth. Tiger makes the first attempt to climbs for the belts at 7:30, Chessman goes to the rope...and Sabu throws a chair at Tiger to knock him off. That was not the spot they wanted to do, so Chessman just hangs out on the top rope until Tiger climbs up the ladder again. I'd give a million dollars for Sabu to throw another chair at him, but instead Tiger jumps off the ladder for the sole purpose of giving Chessman a better angle at spearing him. I think wrestling may be fake.
There's a bit of people climbing up, only for someone else to knock them off the ladder hard. As the climax, an unfolded ladder is leaned on the main one, so Tiger can run up the ladder and kick Charly before he can get the belts. The kick visibly misses Charly (and they show a replay which shows it missing again), but Charly's got no choice but to take giant bump.
The best moments are the accidental injuries. That ladder setup is knocked over to clear room for more spots, but part of it lands right on Sabu's ankle, who had been laying in the ring selling. He grabs his ankle in visible pain for a bit. Halloween tries to kick a ladder out of the ring, and ends up sending it right into Teddy Hart's nose, who just happened to be standing there.
Extreme Tiger gives Crazy Boy a Spanish Fly off the apron onto a table, but they nearly totally overshoot it. They avoid major injury (for now) but do not break the table, only tipping it over so the pre-cut line is visible to the main camera for a while.
Chessman going to spear Sabu and ending up getting the ladder (and Joe Lider on the ladder) was
a good spot, but missed spears are almost comical at this point in AAA. It's a bit overdone. Sabu puts him thru a table with a legdrop shortly later. Teddy Hart takes a big bump on a backdrop to the floor, which also looks good.
Charly and Sabu are left in the ring after, and take a moment to clean out furniture before fighting. Charly throws some punches, they very obviously discuss spots while standing there, and then they're completely on different pages when they go to do those spots. Sabu ends up out, and Charly Manson follows him with
a tope, which just so happens leaves them both laying on a table.
Teddy Hart sets up a ladder in the corner and immediately gets spared into it. Halloween kills Chessman with a chair
shot to the head for the second time in the match, though I don't think anyone can remember the first
time at this point. Halloween sets up ladders and tables, setting up Chessman on the table
while Joe Lider is the only one smart enough (!!!!!!) to climb up the ladder of the belt. Halloween ends up tipping the ladder, sending Lider thru the table. Not thru the Chessman, since he'd rolled off when he saw that spot coming. The tables have gone from being impossible to break to being way too easy to break. It's better this way but it's not perfect.
Even though Lider just went thru a table, TJ Extreme sets up a ladder hanging from the ring apron to the barricade and lays Lider on top.
Halloween goes up a high ladder and splashes Lider. The ladder only bends and both guys bounce off to the floor. I believe that hurt quite a bit, but it was quite dumb. Chessman tries setting up one
of the ladders in the ring, but it's completely broken. So he and Charly set up Halloween leaning on it, and break it for good with a spear. And then Charly puts his submission hold on Halloween! What the? Halloween adds a top rope legdrop, so I guess Halloween is dead.
Charly gets a new, unbroken, ladder and brings it in. Meanwhile, Teddy Hart can't figure out if he's supposed to be dead or alive, because he keeps almost getting involved before selling crippling pain.
Crazy Boy grabs him so they'll have something to do. HBs take forever to position the ladder.
Chessman climbs up, and looks at the fans instead of climbing - oh, he's going to elbow drop Halloween instead. HE tells Charly to go up and
Charly does. Charly grabs a belt, and the fans are thrilled - Teddy Hart picks this time to put Crazy Boy thru the last unbroken table - but Charly does not take the belts. He waves NO to the crowd and climbs back down. He and
Chessman stir Joe Lider, carry him to the ladder, and help him climb up. Lider gets the belts, and the crowd gives a mild cheer once the music plays.
This was painfully minor league in stretches AND they completely bury the belts.
Way to go! HBs book it to the stage, pose, and leave. They've got better things to do, quite obviously. Break.
Sabu and Teddy Hart work over the Mexican Powers with chair shots and pose. I'm so sure that's going somewhere.
Decnis wishes us a happy new year.
Match 3: Decnis, Jr., Zumbido vs Alan
Stone, Intocable, Super Calo in a cage of death
Centro de Convenciones de Ciudad Madero, Tamaulipas, 11/30/07
Loser: Scorpio Jr.
Match Time: 16:20 (8:00+8:20)
Other Match Notes: Everyone gets their own entrances. Actually a little
surprised they didn't just use the dome cage again, but maybe it only fits in
Naucalpan. Announcers tell Decnis to take off his gear on top of their desk, so
he does. Guapito Makes It Rain. That totally works. That seems about right.
Everyone sings a long to Alan Stone's song. Oddly, the rudo fans in the front
row are totally into the Stones. Everyone climbs into the ring as they enter. I
don't see a door here, hope no one gets hurt. Break before the match.
Piero and Tropicasas are the refs. Somehow, despite both teams having a variety of colors during this feud, everyone in the cage is wearing white, except Intocable's wearing black. There doesn't seem to be a minimum time in the cage, because the Guapos take control early and run for it with in a minute, only to all get pulled off the cage. First guy to get his trunks pulled is Zumbido, oddly. Tecnicos clothesline all the Guapos and Alan and Calo go for it (Intocable doesn't for whatever reason.) Alan gets up the cage, only for Piero to climb up and throw a glass of liquid in his face. Piero celebrates but is immediately attacked by Chris Stone.
The bigger cage means they can do more spots, but they're mostly just keeping it to the same brawling as usual. Decnis gets free and climbs to the top of the cage, but Chris Stone blocks his path. Decnis turns around and does a top of the cage plancha onto everyone instead. Everyone ends up tangled in one corner for a stacked up superplex, so Zumbido climbs thru the pile and to the top of the cage to escape. Where's Chris? Oh, Piero and Guapito are stomping him down. Zumbido helps. Guapos manage to get control despite numbers, and corner whip Calo into the corner - who just climbs up and leaves thanks to his partner running interference. He should help his brother, though the next we see of Chris Stone is being beat with a chair in the crowd. Alan starts to get over, which would leave Intocable on his own, but Alan's pulled back by the Guapos. Camera's watching Guapito like he's going to pass the forks. Ah, they even find the forks sticking out of his pocket. That's some good camera work. Guapos are totally in control, so they don't need it anyway. Calo stupidly slides a chair into the cage (there's small openings at each corner), and Scorpio Jr. picks it up to use it on Calo's partners. Forks are passed in as well. Break.
Alan tries to leave, is stopped. Alan and Intocable are bleeding a lot, and the blood's over all the chair they've been using. Alan manages to duck a chair shot that gets Decnis instead, and dropkicks it into Scorpio Jr. Both Guapos take chair shots, so they'll surely be bleeding soon. Alan climbs again, but gets pulled down half way. Intocable climbs, and Piero gets him with another glass of water. Bello Greco is out, pulling Piero off the cage and stomping him while he's down. Zumbido tries to hit him with a chair, but swings and hits the cage, and the chair "bounces back and hits him". Huh. Decnis and Intocable have a very tired looking sequence, ending with Intocable doing a weak (/dangerous) moonsault onto Decnis. Intocable thinks about leaving, but ends up splashing Intocable instead. Intocable climbs up again, kicks Scorpio Jr. away when he tries to get involved, stalls at the top, but gets over. No one's been that concerned about leaving people behind.
Alan's left in with Decnis and Scorpio Jr., and they destroy him for a bit, though it doesn't look good because they're both really dead here. Scorpio Jr. tells Decnis to go, Decnis tells Scorpio Jr. can go, Scorpio Jr. slaps him in the head and yells at him to get out of here. Well, okay then. Decnis starts climbing, slowly, and Alan rushes over, grabbing Dennis by the tights and pulling them all the way down. runs off Alan while Decnis climbs up and over. Alan and Scorpio Jr. left, chopping and punching. Alan gets a 'rana for a ZERO count, because there's no referee and I don't know why he was holding for a pin there. Alan tries for another, only to be caught, bounced off the cage, and powerbombed. Scorpio Jr. starts to leave, but Alan pulls him down by the trunks and now all three Guapos have mooned the crowd. We've been speared from seeing most of it the first two times and it's blurred here. Scorpio Jr. gives Alan double underhook suplex and punches him a few times before looking to climb. Everyone's decided that climbing the corner is the easiest. Guapos hold the Stones off from interfering, but Alan pulls Scorpio Jr. down before he can get to the top. Alan enziguris and goes to climb again, but moving a lot faster than him. However, elects to climbs the cage rather than stop Alan. Alan actually gets about as over the cage as it usual takes for them to be counted as escaped and celebrate, but pulls him back. Alan punches Scorpio off the ropes, and climbs over the top (just as much as before) to celebrate. That's the match - you can tell by the scary fireworks they shoot off from the lighting rig. Stones and Intocable climb to the top of the cage to celebrate with Alan. Break.
All the tecnicos hang out on the top of the cage. Everyone but Alan starts to climb back down the outside, but then he waves them back in - I guess to be there for Scorpio getting his hair cut. The barber actually has to climb the cage to get in! They totally forgot the door on this. Guapos try to claim victory and stall forever before it's finally cut off. Stones leave and celebrate with Bello Greco. Show ends with 's hair getting cut off.
