AAA Mini Line - 12/29/07 (#657)
Recapped: 01/08/07

Four sided ring. No sign of Dr. Morales.

Match 1: Barba Roja, Billy Boy (c), Hijo de Pirata Morgan vs el Ángel (c), El Brazo, Super AAA
Estadio Beisbol Colon de Xalapa, 11/15/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 9:08
Notes: No entrances. Hijo de Tirantes is ref. Brazo is doing his Latin Lover gimmick. Barba Roja has his right shoulder taped up. There's no earthly way the 'rudo' team makes the slightest bit of sense, and Billy doesn't much get along with his Pirate partners (who are back to being rudos here - or are still rudos, the chronology is crazy at this point) but piling him in with five guys who absolutely don't matter makes him look just as irrelevant. There are occasions where it's better not to be on TV, and it would've been better than being wedged into this match.

Match starts off with a big edit, taking out Super AAA/Hijo del Pirata's segment. We get the briefest Angel/Roja work before focusing on EL Brazo comedy, though that doesn't last long before Billy is setting up spots for Super AAA. Super AAA has the problem of not establishing himself as any sort of personality at the same time that there are a half dozen better/more interesting high fliers at the same time. Brazo teases a  dive, but gets worked over to start the beatdown. Big move is Billy managing to give El Brazo a backdrop. Brazo is really fat, but I know we've got Porky coming so he can't be that fat. Brazo starts the comeback by refusing to sell a Billy Boy kick. Billy Boy takes the big Brazo splash too. Brazo gets a top rope splash on all the rudos, but the match goes on because they've got yet more comedy to do. Everyone runs into each other and falls down off bulldogs, except Brazo takes the delayed bump. Rudos end up with a triple double tapatia only for Brazo to break it up. This is a four minute match going nine in usual AAA fashion. Angel gets in Asai kinda corkscrew moonsault on Hijo de Pirata, except it mostly goes by him and into the front row. And I have no idea what it was supposed to be. Super AAA takes a flapjack right on his face for no particular reason. Masochism, maybe. His slingshot tornillo is actually sub Leono. Brazo knocks Billy out of the ring by being fat, and gets in the apron tope con giro on him. Angel gets a slow inverted bodyscissors cradle on Hijo for the win.

After the match, the Legion (Electro, Head Hunter I, Konnan) walk out and beat up both teams, except for Billy, because they thought it was cool was the nWo did it. Now that I know Head Hunter I can beat up el Brazo in an unfair fight, I'm totally paying money to see him. Konan does an inverted bodyslam, which is kinda surprising. Most of the beatdown is on the tecnicos, as the Pirates quickly get knocked out of the ring. As with Extreme Tiger a few weeks ago, Konnan teases asking Billy Boy to join the group but ends up attacking Billy before even letting him get a word in. I think that's the supposed work when the tecnico turns down the forces of evil, proving his dedication to the side of good (which Billy could actually use, since no one seems to know if he's a tecnico or what) but this bit is so absolutely not about getting Billy Boy over.

Match 2: Ayako Hamada, Fabi Apache (c), Mari Apache vs Estrellita (c), Linda Star, Sexy Star
Estadio Beisbol Colon de Xalapa, 11/15/07

Winner: Rudas
Match Time: 8:15 (6:47+1:28)
Notes: No entrances, so we missed finding out what Linda Star's entrance music could possible be. Fabi's totally screwed here (yet somehow the captain - maybe Ayako and Mari figured Fabi's totally taking the pin anyway so they might as well make it definite.) She and Billy Boy need to either turn tecnico or inform people that they are tecnicos and would like to stop teaming with rudas who want them dead. Copetes is the ref. Linda is taking Cinthia Moreno's place. Estrellita has new gear that looks very nice. Actually, the gear could be like four months old, she hasn't been on TV that much.

Fabi tries for a handshake with Estrellita to start off, but Estrellita won't take it. So maybe that' sit. Fabi needs to do whatever it is possible to get on tecnicas good side, for her long term health. They don't last for long before Fabi accidentally spears the post on the way out of the ring. Mari and Sexy Star are next, Mari not really happy with Sexi posing to the crowd and slapping her on her backside to get started. Sexy Star gets hammered with a clothesline, but comes back with a headscissors. Ayako doesn't get a turn, as we get Fabi asking for a handshake again and Ayako kicking Estrellita down when she thinks about it. Fabi seems okay with that turn of events, and the rudas work fine together in a beatdown, so maybe I'm the only who won't let bygones bygones. Apaches take turns Dragging Sexy Star down by her hair. Ayako gets in a  double stomp to Sexi's back, but otherwise seems to be just staying away from the Apache sisters, who are happy double teaming everyone on their own. Linda Star gets a giant spin (and then clipped out before it ever stops). Estrellita takes a corner boot, a corner dropkick to the head, and a corner running boot to the face before everyone just decides to stomp her forever. Estrellita starts the comeback by reversing a double suplex into a double DDT, and ducking a double clothesline that gets Fabi instead. Comeback brawling, with Sexi star knocking Mari around - how did the back of her gear get unzipped? Mari gets thrown over the rail, right into a section of fans who've had a Zorro poster on the barrier all show. Copetes signals for a timeout - and we get a break! He's got the power.

Mari/Sexi start, and while Sexy does the a sequence right out of Mexican Tecnico 101, everything she does goes fine, making this possibly the best Sexy Star match ever. Low bars are easy to cartwheel over. Ayako takes Linda's head off with a thrust kick, but Linda reverses a flapjack into an armdrags and follows Ayako out with a top rope plancha. Estrellita gets Ayako with a missile dropkick (which hits a bit low), and gets a backslide for a slow count 2. Ayako stops her with a wheel kick, takes her over fast on a German suplex, and Copetes counts just as fast for 3. Maybe THAT's why Fabi's still a ruda - you always get the better referee decisions.

Fabi jumps up and down in celebration, while Ayako and Mari get back in the ring and stare at her. Ayako and Mari don't want their hands raised, because they're suddenly angry with Fabi for winning the match. How dare she! Anyway, they finally get around to turning around here when La Diabolica walks out, and calmly starts stomping Fabi as well. Wow, 3 people instead of 2 people, that makes all the difference. Ayako and Fabi hold Fabi for Diabolica to beat up, and I have no idea why suddenly they're the goons and she's the mastermind. Either there's a mystery non-existent AAA show which explains all the plotlines that don't make sense is making a comeback, or maybe Diabolica's confused Fabi for Rey Bucanero. Billy Boy makes the save, though Mari just kinda walks out before she gets beat. Ayako gives out hard (looking) kicks to the head and Ayako stakes hard (looking) kicks to head. Ah, Mari went for a chair. So Billy's teaming with the Pirates, losing, getting beat up after the match, and now getting beat up by women after another match! Fabi and Billy are destroyed, with Billy taking a couple (soft) chair shots to the head. They do leave on their own after some replays.

Noti AAA
- come with me, to the future, where Teddy Hart, Konnan, Sabu and a cast of thousands killed La Parka Jr.. If that's already happened, why am I watching this taping? SUCH A JIP. Chessman makes 'a save'. Footage of La Parka JR. in the hospital
- Speaking of hospitals, Cibernetico vested one after getting powerbombed onto a table on fire. We get hospital footage of his back, and it's so gross. Like his back got put on the grill. I'll never think of barbeque chicken the same way. I'm just rambling to fill space now. Cibernetico cuts a promo over the phone, so I guess the original audio didn't come out well (since we can see him do a promo in the video.)

Promo: Dark Family talk about NOT giving the Air Force a title shot. Ozz says they're at another level, except when it comes to original lines in their promos (apparently.) I bet Ozz gets jealous of how little work Scoria has to do with his makeup compared to his own intricate design. Anyone, they're with Mesias for all time and no one says "we're killing time till Laredo's healthy".

Match 3: Escoria (c), Espíritu, Ozz vs Aero Star (c), Rey Cometa, Super Fly
Estadio Beisbol Colon de Xalapa, 11/15/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 10:17 (6:01+4:16)
Other Match Notes: They've got the Atomicos belts here, but not Cuervo. We get the end of their entrance. Fuerza Aerea get a group entrance. Looks like Rey Cometa has slightly changed his mask, or it's just the gold edging that makes it look different. Maybe everyone has new gear. Pepe Casas is ref.

Match barely gets going one one one with the captains before the rudos try to take over with numbers. Tecnicos rally back, sending everyone out one side - Super Fly and Aero star topes, Rey Cometa gets a slingshot tope con giro. Rudos come back while the tecnicos are posing, and there's a really obvious clip just as the beatdown get started, jumping us ahead into an action packed chinlock. It picks up from there, including the rudos sneaking in a low blow. Aero Star gets flapjacked into a kick to the midsection. Rey Cometa handsprings around while the rudos watch to start the comeback. Probably shouldn't have just watched. Comeback is mostly brawling, and doesn't last long before a break. Showcase case after the break, with Super Fly getting in his handspring back flip dive, Super Fly double jumping in the ring just to do it and gets Espiritu with a double jump plancha after tricking him out of the ring.  Escoria gets a in-ring tornillo on Cometa, but Cometa is immediately up to set up the next spot - ehhhh. Scoria gets his tornillo dive in as well, but it pretty much misses and Cometa has to pretend for him. Ozz finishes Aero Star with La Darketa, and they try to camera cut it so it doesn't look so bad. (It's still ehhhh, but less so than Cometa/Escoria.) They do sell the move as death, which is nice. Aero is totally under the bottom rope at the finish, but it's the finish so no one cares. There's been much better version of this matchup, but at least the Dark Family's point is right - they're on another level, the Air Force does not deserve a title shot.

Eating!: Jesus Z shares a meal with Intocable and Bello Greco. All about the Stones and Intocable teaming up.

Match 4: Scorpio Jr. & Zumbido vs Alan Stone & Intocable in a bull terrier match
Estadio Beisbol Colon de Xalapa, 11/15/07

Winner: Guapos
Match Time: 12:41
Other Match Notes: Entrances (intermixed between teams), including people doing short promos before doing his entrance. Arturo has backup singers! Guapito is down to one woman! Sometimes, even the best of us have bad days. Intocable only get jumped by one girl, which is an upset. They never actually have security by the railings until someone jumps over them. Copetes is ref. Rudos wait until the collars are on the tecnicos, and then jump them before getting them on themselves. Tecnicos make their comeback about 3:00 in, with the collars still not on the Guapos. Decnis wanders out, brandishing forks. He missed the eating! I guess he's just disappointed. Decnis got in his his gear and all wet down just to pass forks to his teammates. Maybe he had another match somewhere else today? He trips Alan, but gets punched by Intocable. Finally, he passes on those forks, and rudos quickly get back in control so people can bleed. Arturo holds up a fork to the camera, just in case we're unclear of the concept. Perhaps you came from a land of only spoons! Soup everyday! This could be a good feud, but it's not doing it for me for whatever reason. Maybe it's because they've been having the same for a season. Lots of fighting here, very little attempt. Both tecnicos look like they're very slightly bleeding compared to previous weeks (Intocable very very slightly if at all), and get a random short comebacks. Zumbido recalls you can actually win this match at 11:35, but gets speared after touching his third corner. Intocable gets yanked down going for three. Alan gets stopped at two, before he alerts Scorpio that it's okay to let him try one more. He does, he gets stopped again, and then the Guapos accidentally let him free to almost get four. They work the chains free enough for Zumbido to go out and Intocable to follow with a plancha. Alan gets three corner and a chair shot from Decnis. Scorpio gets three corners and helped to the fourth by Guapito. Guess it's a single winner this time.

Match 5: Charly Manson & Chessman vs Electro Shock & Zorro
Estadio Beisbol Colon de Xalapa, 11/05/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 9:33
Other Match Notes: Entrances, again with the guys cutting promos just before they go out for their music. Pepe Casas is ref. Break before the match. Crowd loud behind Charly. Announcers get bleeped out, which is very confusing when I'm not paying attention to them. Rudo beatdown to start. Comeback at about 4, with Charly and Chessman hitting topes. Tecnico show case from there, and crowd does chant for Chessman when it's his turn. Rudos get a brief moment of control, with Zorro punching both Hell Brothers, then German suplexing one and superkicking the other. Zorro and Electro arrange their props but don't actually use the chair or cane. Instead, Zorro tries to powerbomb Charly, only for Charly to escape and Chessman to connect on his spear. Electro runs right into a backbreaker. Charly goes to finish Zorro, but Chessman misses the spear on Electro, and Electro hits both HBs with chair shots to the head. Rudos go thru the crowd to get wood panels. They're set up in the corner. Tecnicos get powerbombed thru them. We almost miss the pinfall while looking at the replay of the powerbombs, but they come back in time. Rudos pose a  bunch.

Vignette: La Parka Jr. in the hospital - so we're going to see the injury before they actually show the match with the injury angle. I guess this explains why he's not coming to your show.

Match 6: Head Hunter I, Konnan, Mesias (c), X-Pac vs El Elegido, La Parka Jr. (c), Octagon, Super Porky
Estadio Beisbol Colon de Xalapa, 11/15/07

Winner: Rudos
Match Time: 12:30
Other Match Notes: Again with the mixed entrances. X-Pac does not get to cut a promo, or it's just no shown to us, so sad. No Alicia either. Is Elegido going to wrestle in a neckbrace? No, he rips it off just before he starts dancing. Mesias gets to do a promo before he enters, and he's got the microphone on the way to the ring. He needs to get the catchphrases in, you see. Mesias goes on and on and on and shows us a unflattering picture of Cibernetico trying to fit Antonio Pena's stereotype for top wrestlers. Intocable-esque, you see. Mesias: "es gay!" That too. I don't seem to get the point here, but Konnan expounds on it for our benefit. Then we segue into Mesias calling Konnan a rat and garbage for getting a title shot for Zorro. Konnan talks it over with X-Pac and Head Hunter and is okay. I dunno. Or care.

Cut to the waiting area, where La Parka Jr. has fallen asleep waiting for his turn! Awesome. Thankfully, he wakes up in time to dance. Break before the match.

Rudos jump the tecnicos, imagine that. Parka's got a big shoulder brace. Hijo de Tirantes is the ref for the mugging. If you wanted to see Head Hunter and Super Porky hold onto the ropes and pretend they're doing something, this is the beatdown for you. Look, Octagon got his mask tied in the ropes, for the millionth time. Wouldn't you just start practicing untying notes behind your back at this point? Konan accidentally hits Mesias in the head with a chair to start the comeback, so it's not as though they're being subtle with this. Match is pretty horrible. Mesias doesn't get along with his partners as they go into the showcases. Lots of comedy. La Parka/Konnan groin related bits appear to be clipped out. I'm guessing that's what they were, anyway. Elegido getting his trunks pulled (and held off for a bit) is not blurred this week, so who knows.

End game: Head Hunter I take out X-Pac with a belly bump, Porky takes out Head Hunter with the same, Octagon topes Head Hunter and Porky apron splashes X-Pac to eliminate all of them. Konnan and Elegido, who aren't the captains but will be fort the sake of the finish, are left in and circle each other for a bit. They have an equal strike battle (equally bad), Konnan blatantly fouls Elegido, and Hijo de Tirantes only then turns around to look at the crowd. Parka jumps on the apron, Konnan punches him and stares at him, missing Mesias come in the other side and cover for the pin. This takes forever, but Hijo de Tirantes is more interesting in keeping his own heat and debating counting the foul pin. Konnan turns around after the three and gets in Mesias' face.

Mesias flips Konnan off as he turns around, but both guys just end up walking away from each other, and we stick with the tecnicos checking on Elegido instead. Konnan gets the microphone to cut a promo on Mesias, call out Electroshock, and completely without build set up a tag team title match between Octagon, Parka and Electro and (not here) Kenzo. Tecnicos agree, and everyone pretends like this doesn't break any established rules for the belts.
