IWRG, title matches tonight, AAA Lucha Libre Premier returns, TV notes

IWRG (THU) 10/28 Arena Naucalpan [Mi Lucha Libre]
1) Tonatiuh vs Epidemia
2) Centurión & Dinamic Black vs Alan Extreme & Carta Brava Jr.
3) Bugambilia del Norte, Chico Che, Miss Gaviota b Arlequin Rojo, Comando Negro, Hammer
4) Chiva Rayada, Gato Eveready, Relampago DQ Oficial 911, Oficial AK47, Oficial Fierro
5) Electroshock b Joe Lider, Silver King [bull terrier]

Gato Eveready 2010: A cat you can trust/AAA

Electro won the bull terrier match, with the Maniacos starting off friends not and not quite ending that way. Lider was attacked after the match by Dr. Cebrero, who wanted an extreme match with him. Dr. Cerbero is a goofball.

Sounds like the Oficials were DQed for a mask pull after dominating the match. No telling who’s in the Chiva Rayada outfit now. The name turns up on AAA spot show infrequently, but the gimmick hasn’t made TV since it was other people.

Tercera set up a Chico Che/Comando Negro match.

AAA’s website announced Guerra de Tirantes will be on 12/05 in Auditorio Benito Juárez, Zapopan, Jalisco. That’s outside the extended Mexico City driving area, first time since July.

Tonight’s previews: ESTO, Notimex, AMI Sports (via Gladiatores) focusing on the trios title match. According to that article, Sombra, La Mascara, and Mascara Dorada are calling themselves “Dream Team”. When did that happen? The refs for the title match have been announced as Tirantes & Rafael El Maya. I’m betting on the status quo in both title matches, even though it doesn’t help the Invasors.

AAA’s Lucha Libre Premiere will return this November. The show aired last fall/winter on Fox Sports Espanol (Mexico only) and will be back on that station. They’re taping 11/01, 11/13, 11/20, 11/28 (why did they not mention this until 3 days before the first taping? Peculiar) at Six Flags with no air date mentioned. Last year, this was a points tournament format, where the rules sort of got changed by the end and Dr. Wagner Jr. It was mostly ignored on the main AAA show (and by people who watch AAA) and went unmentioned after it ended. Figured that meant it was canceled, but maybe it’s meant to be seasonal programming – filling in gaps for auto racing and baseball on the network?

CMLL’s Twitter says they’re airing at 4:30 pm (central) on Saturday. AAA’s TV preview hypes the return of Gato Eveready. I was going to make fun of that, but that’s actually a fine selling point.

PuroLove‘s TV listings have “NOAH/Takashi Sugiura Mexico Special” airing on 11/20/2010 on Gaora TV. The Chessman/Sugiura match did not air in Mexico, so that’ll be the only time it turns up.

In the comments, Kyle mentioned Gamestop says the Wii version of Heroes del Ring is canceled. Video game company hasn’t said anything. I think I’ve decided to stop linking to reviews at this point; I think you’ve gotten the idea.

Links

  • Estrellas del Ring has an interview with Super Brazo & Super Brazo Junior. Senior says the Junior is unrelated, but the Junior has a lot of skills and earned the name. This never turns out well. (Early warning sign = this looks like the second Super Brazo Jr. Maybe the third.)
  • SuperLuchas has a promo from NWA Bolivia. NWA Bolivia?
  • News report on a Chilean lucha show in prison.
  • GALLI posted video of their September show in Rockford, outside in the cold and rain.
  • Lucha Libre Salinas is advertising a show for 11/07. LA Park and (Hijo de?) Rey Misterio are pictured on the posters, but the actual names for the show are conspicuously missing.
  • Cronicas Y Leyendas has video of Perro Aguayo vs Fishman in Dallas.
  • Octagon, building houses. We really need a picture of a Casas building a casa (or pinning someone with a casita.)

Lineups

CMLL (MON) 11/01 Arena Puebla
1) Blue Center & King Jaguar vs Ares & Centauro de Fuego
2) Guerrero Maya Jr., Horus, Tigre Blanco vs Bronco, Puma King, Tiger Kid
3) Ángel de Oro, Leono, Sensei vs Demus 3:16, Dr. X, Nitro
4) Máximo, Metro, Stuka Jr. vs Misterioso II, Pólvora, Sangre Azteca
5) Blue Panther, Máscara Dorada, Místico vs Felino, Rey Bucanero, Último Guerrero

A lineup ahead of time! Main event is a rematch. Really, so is the second – same rudo group, just Maximo instead of Valiente. Next Monday is likely fan appreciation here, and they’re telegraphing Bucanero vs Mistico (maybe Rey defends his title?) but they could be setting up the title match in the semimain too.

  1. Nice to see LLP back again. Six Flags says the season is coming to an end, so most of the tapings will take place when park patrons won’t be around to fill the arena.
