5) Hijo del Fantasma, Máximo, Volador Jr. DQ Ray Mendoza Jr., Shigeo Okumura, Taichi
6) Gigante Bernard, Shocker, Strong ManHéctor Garza, Terrible, Texano

Defying predictions, Gigante Bernard did not turn on his opponents, even though he’s scheduled as a rudo for matches in the rest of the tour. Tecnicos went over in two falls. Rudos were running scared of the tecnicos.

Semimain was also a two fall win. Tecnicos took the first, Taichi fouled Maximo in the second.

Ras de Lona had interviews with all the CMLL guys on the 06/06 card, including Strong Man and Magadan conversing in English. Also, Gigante Bernard on Strong Man: “Strong Man very strong. Also, very bad smell.” They also included Volador & Atlantis talking about their title match on Tuesday, Mistico talking at the Lucha Libre Expo press conference. He announced the top 3 matches for their show, which is below. The only mention of 100 episodes was a bit at the end where Porky and Taichi gave Magadan and Rivera cakes. That was actually great.

On LLF’s 10th Anniversary show, Angelica unmasked the previously undefeated Dark Unicorn in the finals of an 8 women loser’s advance tournament. Dark Unicorn unmasked as Hailey Hatred, the gimmick name she’d been using in Arena Coliseo Monterrey of late (and previously in Ohio, where she’s from.) Birthday, but no age given.

Fuego en el Ring catches up with Marco Corleone.

Al Filo del Ring has interviews with Psicosis & Histeria and Hijo de Fishman, from the AULL show.

The Gladiatores talks to Black Warrior, who’s talking about teaching wrestling classes.

AAA (or their video game company) is sending out a sweet looking photo book to video game reviewers.

Cronicas Y Leyendas looks back at a Santo & Lizmark team.

Segunda Caida continues thru 2009 IWRG with the 10/26 show.

Robert has reviews of the 10/17 and 10/19/09 AAA recap.

LuchaWorld has KrisZ’s news update.

Random rudos/rudos match, Invasors third from the top.

CMLL (FRI) 06/04 Arena Mexico

5) La Máscara, Máximo, Volador Jr. vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano Jr.
6) Shocker, Strong Man, Toscano vs Atlantis, Gigante Bernard, Último Guerrero

Not Inferno en el Ring. Gigante Bernard turns rudo without actually turning, which is the way nowadays. Poder Mexica teams up against the Mexican Trios champs, hmmm. Hope Dorada makes the show.

Haven’t seem them myself yet, but Robert says IWRG’s lineups go like this:

Thursday: Kenzo Suzuki, CIMA, Nosawa, Tozawa vs Veneno, Mascara Anno 2000 Jr., Gato Eveready, Pantera – Japan vs Mexico more important then IWRG vs AAA
Sunday: Dr. Cerebro vs CIMA [IWRD MIDDLE], Laredo Kid, Super Fly, Aerostar vs Freelance, Suicida, Cerebro Negro

At least I called the title match. Something I got correct lately.

CMLL (SAT) 07/24 Centro Banamex
1) La Máscara, Máscara Dorada, Máximo vs Averno, Ephesto, Mephisto
2) Atlantis & Último Guerrero vs Jushin Liger & Nobuo Yoshihashi
3) Místico, Shocker, Strong Man vs Héctor Garza, Terrible, Texano

Atlantis & UG’s opponents were announced as unnamed representatives from NJPW, but I believe that’s who they’ll end up being.  Most likely a women’s match there as well.

  1. 52MX has expected matches, I think. Not sure why until half past the hour to tell you about the main event.

IWRG has the 04/18 show again. Five straight reruns.

  2. If only I could review shows from the future I would have known to skip watching that AAA 10/17 show. Oh well.

Tmrw’s CMLL TV will be great to analyze. They will be airing 3 matches – top 2 + Lightning. Total time of all three matches = *just under* 30 minutes. There shouldn’t be any reason they would need to edit anything out of each match, not that any of the matches will actually be good.

Teleformula is still taping IWRG from the looks of the photos so I wonder what the heck is going on.

  3. Looking at the lineups, When did Ray Mendoza join the independents? I thought he was just a Japanese sympathizer?

  4. @thecubsfan: Not sure why, but MVS has done this before, especially on the LATV show. Can’t wait to see what they air there.

LA Park just did a long shoot promo on La Parka Jr. He came off like the total babyface, and I would not be surprised if he is cheered at Palacio.

  5. @Rob: Not sure if we’ll be able to see the entire CMLL show tomorrow. CMLL.com says they start at 2, while tvguide says 1. If it starts at 1, I think xej runs an infomercial, and we’ll miss the first hour.

  6. Very sad to hear that. Was looking forward to the 5/14 matches.

Any idea why LATV would be paying for only a new show every other week?

  7. If this was taped on 4/30, I assume it aired 5/8 or 5/15 in the US.

They just said that the muscular woman at ringside is Strongman’s wife.

  8. @Rob: Budget. If they are paying weekly, buying maybe two episodes a month, this would explain the bullshit. But I don’t think that’s what is happening. I think the programming department sees wrestling as “content”, and they don’t care if it airs in proper sequence.

LATV lost their NYC affiliate, but Time Warner Cable decided to stick with them on 166, for now.

  9. @LLL: But even when they skip a week – they keep airing stuff in sequence. For example:

    4/3 – aired matches from 3/26
    4/10 – repeat
    4/17 – aired matches from 4/3

So they’re still buying all the episodes…

  10. @Rob: One Galavision executive one said that Lucha episodes are “timeless”, when asked about the repeats and older footage airing on that network years ago. The straightened it out, but he didn’t give a shit when it was happening.

LATV execs probably feel the same way about CMLL.

  11. I’m surprised Fabi and Mari don’t have back injuries having to carry those American girls. Hailey Hatred would fit right in with the CMLL new girls. She gives Jackie Gayda a run for her money.

  12. Ah man if they are turning La Parka rudo vs LA Park, that is awesome. People in ACM HATE La Parka.

  13. @Tim: Parka sure acted rudo on Galavision today.

Are you going to FCW in Orlando, or staying home for the Perros del Mal PPV? I’m going to get the PPV.

  14. 3rd week in a row C3 aired the opener. Maybe the twitter comments are paying off? They did make mention of the lucha fans on twitter in a recent update so feel free to msg them and tell them good job airing the openers even if you aren’t watching.:) luchascadena3 is their twitter account.

It’s funny with C3… with the added match they’ve SHORTENED their commercials and taken away a few pointless segments with the ring girls to fit everything in. It almost makes me cry…

  15. I don’t think the Shocker/Bernard/Strongman match was last. Fans was still seated even after it was over.

  16. Opening AAA segment was build-up for the mini’s TLC and for the Cruiserweight title match. Looked like footage from Actopan for the minis.

Now segment two is footage building the women’s match, with the same rock music in the background. Rivera now talking about the ref seconds hair match. It’s a countdown/recap show so far.

Segment three is more video and promo recaps and Rivera talking in a studio or office.

  17. Still no mention of Triplemania being a PPV.

Segment four is more countdown/recap build for Mania. Showing the Vamp/Roldan angle. Not a single match has aired yet. They said they’re going to show footage from Torreon involving the Parkas. This could push everything back a week as far as airing on television.

  18. For a promotion that revolves around TV and wants to compete with the WWE – a recap show is very 80’s.

  19. I agree Rob. I was not expecting to tune in on a Sunday for the first time in weeks, and see a two-hour recap show.

Triplemania is next Sunday at 8:30p, so a recap would’ve made more sense next week anyway.

Speaking of WWE, does anyone understand why Cena is champ, but he had to qualify for the fatal-4-way? Does that mean that if he lost on RAW, he’d lose the title, and the four participants would fight for the title in a four-way?

  20. Oh. Finally they plug tv for Leon, and gave June dates for San Luis Potosi and Zapopan, Jal.

  21. @Tim: Then what if he won his qualifying match? Jericho and Edge would’ve been eliminated. That’s what I don’t understand about WWE storylines these days.

  22. CMLL TV had the Lightning Match + top 2. <30 minutes total and presumably aired edited.

    Just cancel the show.

  23. @Rob: Yeah. It was a bad weekend for Lucha on television. AAA being 100% recap/countdown to Mania, CMinfomerciaLL , and LATV repeat.

I tuned in to CMLL on XEJ from 2-3p because they join CMLL in progress, and saw just one match, or about 11:00 minutes of wrestling.

  24. Well AAA US airing at least had a fun match with Evans/Romero/Tiger vs. Daniels/Lider/Koslov and I enjoyed the Park beat down, even if it was a complete mess. The opener though, total mail in jobs by Billy Boy and Aerostar, but I don’t blame them.

  25. @Kyle: Did you notice that they played music during the press conference clips? And the camera shots were far. I think AAA messed up, and didn’t have a camera close up for the angles and pull aparts, nor did they have proper sound, based on Joaquin’s few inaudible words. Crazy. Obviously, they didn’t book all that stuff to happen to air in the form of a video.
