10/25 news

Texano’s health status is the lead story on boxylucha.com. He’s in intensive care, on a ventilator, and it doesn’t sound good.

Inside Box Y Lucha #2737
Cover includes Texano in the hospital and Negro Casas in Japan.
– Novemeber calendar poster is GdA
– The Villanos do an interview where the writer mentions how they haven’t lost a step since leaving CMLL, and the Villanos say they’re doing great and have lots of opportunities – though, you know, if CMLL or a promoter wants to call them for bookings at any time for anything at all, they’d be willing to talk.
– Negro Casas talks about his appearance in NJPW. He got to take his wife with him to Japan.
– Santo talks about LdP. He also wonders why Perro Jr. isn’t involved, but reminds us Perro didn’t want the trophy last time (because he felt the Aguayos > Santos), so perhaps that’s why he wasn’t invited. Decent logic.
– Gran Markus Jr. is on the road back to the ring! Be very afraid. I thought he was out due to heart issues, but here he says it was due to a brain injury, “vein of the cerebellum burst.” He’s better now. He’s been occasionally refereeing (under the name Tony Benetto), but he wants to make a full return to the ring. He’s upset someone is using the Hijo de Gran Markus name and wants them to stop.

Ovaciones has an interview with the new Hombre Sin Nombre. They list him as making his Arena Mexico debut, having been a rudo in northern Mexico, but that may just be a cover story. Showing he’s at least aware of what’s going on, HsN wants to pair up with Atlantis, beat up Mistico, and end Negro Casas’ career. It’s good to have goals.

Best insane guess: Anyone seen Incognito lately? (Dumb question.) It only works if you tell people who he used to be.

I haven’t been tracking Sangre Azteca and Starman in NJ, because I figured they were going to lose a whole lot (and they probably should be losing – they’re definite underdogs at this point), and they’ve been very thorough, losing every match so far. Hope they’re impressing people.

Taken from the boxylucha forum: cover of Guerrereo del Ring #6.

If I’m reading this right, this guy is selling the Santo and Demon comics. For what it’s worth.

  1. Incognito was on last Saturdays Arena Coliseo De Monterrey TV. Shitty match w/Antifaz, Angel and Some guy Casanova V some exoticos – in keeping with the trend from every other match on those cards. :(

He looked good the few previous times I saw him though. I’m definitely going to get that Best of Juarez 2004 when it’s released.

  2. Safari’s scheduled for Sundays Coliseo show. Dunno if that’s significant or maybe just a swerve to put us off the scent, so to speak.

I’d rather it wasn’t Safari either – he bores me nowadays, I mostly just like his ’01/’02 stuff

  3. You guys suck. Safari would be in my top 15 workers in CMLL. The guy is awesome but really lazy. Who can blame him when he is basically ignored. Even as a trios champ he was working tag openers one or two times at Arena Mexico. Even Felino didn’t get treated that badly!

Remember Silver King played both Tiger/Bronco when the Bronco gimmick made its’ debut. Rumor has it he will be returning again soon but this time as just Silver King. I think that’d be a better fit for the Cowboys trio w/ Texano Jr. and Tony Rivera.

  4. Safari rules!

I haven’t seen the lazyness or maybe I was just distracted by tigers or other cat-like luchadores. I have a tendency to only remember the good things sometimes.
