08/02 news

Ovaciones is down, yet again – but Tuesday’s normally a slow day anyway, so maybe we’re just missing the IWRG Sunday results. Lucha Insider went down about two weeks ago and I never thought to mention. So I really don’t got the news; let me post those results that were promised:

AAA (FRI) 07/29 Ciudad Madero Convention Center Lineup/TV Taping [box y lucha forum]
1) Transmetal, Infraworld, Diabolico b King Boy, Sadist, ???
2) Hombre sin Miedo, Laredo Kid, ??? b Bravo Rio, Obscuridada, Tito Santana
Not that Tito. I’m thinking Hombre sin Miedo is a comic book fan.
3) Albrije (w/Cuije), Pimpinela, Cinthia Moreno b Monsther (w/Chucky), Sexy Francis, Diabolica
4) Psicosis II CO Histeria [MEX MW]
First two falls were relatively straight, and then it broke down into AAA madness. They ended up brawling outside the building for ‘5 minutes’. When the referees finally got around to counting people out, Psicosis made it back at 19.
5) Zumbido lost in the six way, advancing to the next match. The other particpants, in order of elimination: Incognito, Cuervo, Antifaz, Picudo, Oriental. Hator tried to help out Zumbiudo, but it backfired
6) Piero lost the cage match and was shaved bald. Other particpants, in order of escape: Parkita, Octagoncito, Rocky Marvin, Mini Psicosis, Zumbido, Hator (sorta), Mascarita Sagrada, Jerrito Estrada
Piero is an LLL referee, and was not a scheduled part of the match. He showed up with Hator to help Zumbido again, after the minis decided to all team up after him. Zumbido was helped out, but the minis all came back to help the other minis leave before Piero, so the loser was a referee. Not the first time AAA’s done this, not the last time that weekend.
7) La Parka II, Octagon, Shocker, Luzbel NC? Ciberntico, Abismo Negro, Tinieblas Jr., Chessman
Tinieblas got bored of being a rudo and apparently turned tecnico. Parka and Shocker fought over who would be captain. There was theoritically a match here, but no one’s quite sure.

(SAT) 07/30 Arena Naucalpan Results “Black Shadow Tribute” [KrisZ]
There was another opening match listed on the lineup, but it’s not listed in KrisZ’s results. You’ll live.
1) Drako, Black Jaguar I & II b Super Tri, Star Moon, Baby Maravilla Baby Star
2) Bobby Lee Jr. & Rambo b Hermano Muerte Jr. & Mano Negra [Copa Shadow SEMI]
3) Brazo de Oro & Brazo de Plata Jr. b Halcon Dorado Jr. & Ultraman [Copa Shadow SEMI]
4) Gallo Tapado Jr. & Villano III b Blackman II & Matematico [Copa Shadow SEMI]
5) Blue Demon Jr., Mil Mascara, Rayo de Jalisco Jr., Black Shadow II (Solar) DQ New White Wave (Angel Blanco, Enfermero Jr., Hijo del Gladiator, Dr. Wanger Jr.)
Wagner low blowed Black Shadow II. Black Shadow can’t even get a clean win on a tribute show? Canek showed up to challenge Wagner to a mask/mask match – yea, now he’ll do it.
6) Gallo Tapado Jr. & Villano III b Brazo de Oro & Brazo de Plata Jr. and Bobby Lee Jr. & Rambo [3, Copa Shadow FINAL]
Winners fought over the trophy post match.

CMLL (SUN) 07/30 Arena Lopez Mateos Results [boxylucha forum]
1) Spider Boy & Mini Ninja vs Pachuli Van & Mini Rebelde
2) La Secta Negra b Los Porros
3) Black Terry, Negro Navaro, Ira, Nick la Muerte DCO Rocky Santana, Okada, Ohara, Kameta
4) La Mascara b Sangre Azteca [MEX WW]
5) Canek & Apolo Dantes DQ Dr. Wagner Jr. & Rayo de Jalisco Jr.
Canek faked a Wagner foul.

CMLL (SUN) 07/31 Arena Coliseo Results [ova]
1) Zayco & El Payo ?? Black King & Red Man
2) Rayo Tapatio I & II & Valiente ?? Jeque, Polvora, Vaquero
3) Safari, Brazo de Oro, Metro ?? Arkangel, Dr. X, Mr. Mexico
4) Felino, Satanico, Pantera b Hijo de Pierroth, Okumura, Taguchi
5) Hijo de Lizmark, Lizmark Sr., Negro Casas b Hector Garza, Tarzan Boy, Olimpico
6) Rayo de Jalisco Jr. DQ Canek
Rayo had the win, when Hijo del Canek jumped in to break it up.

Atlantis beat Wagner in Guadalajara on Sunday. They announced the mask/mask as confirmed.

Could I complain about the G1 for a second? I know I do this often but one more time.

PuroresuFan has a recap of a Shinsuke Nakamura interview, where he talks about his plan to win the G1World competition by winning both the G1Japan and G1Mexico (which he says will happen “in September”, thus become ultimate champion over the entire world. It’s a great plan, if didn’t fly in the face of everything we’ve been told thus far by CMLL. There’s four possibilities.

1) We’re about to have a shocking revelation about Kronos’ actual identity, and his power to make August appear to be September

2) NJPW’s being very consistent about not letting it’s workers know what’s actually going on, and Nakamura is just unaware the plans were changed.

3) The slot Lizmark Jr. has and the slot La Mascara is getting are not for the G1World, but are actually just advancing them into the G1Mexico tournament, and CMLL has just not been able to properly explain this. (Maybe they’re even appearing on the post G1 Tour as a special prize.) It’s make sense of this three week lead up tournament; since G1s are heavyweight competitions, all the SL guys in these matches wouldn’t have a chance to enter without a tournament like this.

If this was correct, I’d do a whole 180 on these guys being given slots. Are they part of the Top 8 (or 16) CMLL has access to? Nah. But if they give me 4 – 6 guys who are in that Top 8, I’ve got no problem with them sticking in other people for other purposes. I’m willing to compromise.

(My other 6 heavyweights, not strictly based on the best, would be Ultimo, Perro, Garza, Rey, LA Park, and Santo if you can get him, Mistico if we’re going open weight, and Negro if all else fails. I guess Nakamura has to get one of those spots, but only we’d only worry about that sorta thing if we went 16.)

4) CMLL really screwed this up, and shouldn’t be allowed to play with others until they get their heads screwed on straight.

I’m leaning towards 4, since that’s what I’ve called from Day 1. I so hope 3 is right but I find it hard to believe until we see the card.

  1. I was wondering if there was some difference between some of these guys going to the G1, and maybe the lighter guys fighting for spots in the Super Juniors or something.

  2. Could be possible, but the SuperJ isn’t till next Spring, so it’d be a long wait.

  3. I’m still thinking Lizmark Jr. is the G-1 guy no matter what and this tournament is for Volador Jr. to go to NOAH.
