IWRG (SUN) 08/02 Arena Naucalpan [Estrellas del Ring]
1) Diva Salvaje & Sexy Gladys b Blasfemia & Gringo Loco
2) Chico Che, Pendulo, Rigo b Black Terry, Heavy Boy, Menfis
3) Bushi, Trauma I, Trauma II DQ Cerebro Negro, Dr. Cerebro, Fantasma de la Ópera
4) Ricky Cruz & Scorpio Jr. b Hijo del Cien Caras & Mascara Ano 2000 Jr.
Cruz & Scorpio were bloody, but won and will get a tag title shot next week. Bushi took Dr. Cerebro out with a brutal move.
Dr. Cerebro was taken to the back, and the tecnicos were on their way to a win, but both Dr. Cerebro and Black Terry came out and beat up the tecnicos for the DQ.
Somehow, Chico Che, Rigo and Pendulo get a title shot against Black Terry’s crew by beating Heavy Boy and Menfis (and not the Trauma/Bushi side.) IWRG just must be in a title match mood.
Ovaciones previews Toscano returning to Arena Mexico. Today is fan apperciation prices, as ESTO notes, so the new plan is that sets up a title match for next week. Looks liek Bam Bam defending his title versus Warrior, Violencia or Damian.
In Record, Sexi Star talks about putting her mask on the line in a match AAA has not really officially announced yet, right? (LuchandoLibre writes about Verano de Escandalo’s card today, so maybe they did announce that lineup and I haven’t seen it?)
DTU congrulates Tercera Caida on it’s third anniversary by pointing out interviews with DTU wrestlers.
A show in Merida saw Fuerza Boricua lose his mask for “the sixth or seventh time”.
El Pancaracio #153 includes a few articles about the good and bad from the lucha libre expo. Some of the changes on the cards are explained as the old “you can’t wrestle in the same place twice on two different shows” rule. Why is that a rule?
Luchas 2000 #481 has Sombra, Volador Jr. and Mistico as Super Sky Team, which may be the tenth different name they’ve tried for that trio. The Averno vs Plata mask match tease is a reference to the Lagos de Morenos show CMLL had been promoting. After the Averno/Mephisto vs Oro II/Plata semimain, there were the usual mask vs mask challenges but since the second show on 08/09 is called “mascara vs mascara”, it could actually happen. It would explain why Oro II and Plata are back as well. Edit: Of course, if I waited until I watched Ras de Lona, I would’ve known this already.
Kcidis has a very happy Naito and a less so Toscano
WrestlingObserver has their AAA recap.
LuchaWorld has Robert on 11/03/08 Puebla and CMLL TV 06/21/08, as well as KrisZ’s news update
CMLL (THU) 08/06 Palenque de la Feria, Aguascalientes
1) Paltino & Super Camaleon vs El Ministro & Sexy Gemenis
2) Carta Brava Jr. & Turbo vs Black Thunder & Vampiro Metálico
3) Mascarita Sagrada vs Mini Gran Cochisse
4) Hijo del Lizmark, Lizmark Sr., Satánico vs Negro Navarro, Solar I, Terrible
5) Mistico & Volador Jr. vs Mr. Niebla & Negro Casas
Lizmark retirement show. Hijo del Lizmark is specifically listed here, and we still haven’t seen the new Lizmark Jr. except for that one match. Glad I had to reprogram things to accommodate that.
AAA Mora (FRI) 09/04 Auditorio de Tijuana
1) Nicho el Millionario & Teddy Hart vs Extreme Tiger & Jack Evans
2) Dr. Wagner Jr., Konnan, Zorro vs Cibernético, El Mesías, Marco Corleone
Promoter says this is the first show he’s been able to run in a year. No one’s getting along with anyone else in that main event. Poor Marco.
