US: 06/13

You know, Thursday are usually slow days. Not today. I think I’m thrown off by the hustle and bustle of having actual lucha libre shows to discuss.

This is attempt three at the Latin Lover/Marco Corleone teaming. First time, Latin missed the show. Last time, the swine flu canceled the show. I do’t know what’s going to happen here.

Mostly, it looks like a poor show to be a rudo. Even if there’s a fluke at the Black Family win the semimain, there’s zero chance they’d actually beat that group of tecnicos (even with Super Fly involved.) Main event is not really a lot better.

I’d heavily favor all the guys on the left side of the cruiserweight tournament matches.

I don’t know how Billy’s going to manage being in a match no involving an Apache.

No Konnan and Vampiro in action, hooray. Konnan is still supposed to be there, booo.

  1. Konnan reads the blog, you better watch your comments! Remember…

“Konnan is one of the few real people in the business that don’t give a fuck.”

    Watch your back, Cubs!

Card looks decent enough but really shows the lack of depth on the roster. Opener will probably get cut to shreds even though it has most of the real talent left in the promotion. Singles matches will probably get a ton of time so yes folks… if Jack vs Tiger wasn’t enough for you the first time – you get an encore! Wouldn’t be shocked if they did another draw to set up a 4 way for Triplemania.

  2. Where’s Silver King?

Will AAA be able to get Wagner vs. Park(a) mask v. mask to happen?

  3. @New Talking Wall: Silver King’s probably on the next taping. Throwing all three cruiserweight matches on here probably pushed other plans off.

Wagner vs LA Park in AAA? Probably not. If Park’s coming in, it’d be to face La Parka.

  4. Interesting to see if AAA would bring LA PARK but i dont think it will happen, im still guessin why konnan say the classic style of lucha libre is odd to him, that might be cos he never learn and always was a bult and still the same as before to much blah blah, gonna miss the apache feud with billy that was gettin to be a classic for aaa, they should make an storyline about billy take his son away from faby and then big apache dad save his grandson if u read this konnan u should do it man

  5. Now that WWE is running Mexico for certain, CMLL has to come up with two big shows to compete with. WWE and AAA. My guess is they’ll run big shows at ArMex on Friday and Sunday around Triplemania.

  6. I wanna cosign the recommendation of Loco Fighters. Really fun documentary that features a bunch of wrestlers from all different feds (and english subtitles). I’ve showed this to a bunch of non-lucha fans and it gets a huge reaction every time.
When it was initially released, it was available at Best Buy for like 10 bucks, fwiw.

  7. Thanks for linking to my review of Loco Fighters.

I really love that doc. I’d also recommend Lucha Libre Life Behind the Mask if you can find it for a good price. Sadly, it’s only like an hour long and doesn’t have any bonus features or anything to make it seem like you’re getting your money’s worth with the DVD. Loco Fighters is actually feature length and covers SO MUCH SHIT.

I think I mentioned in my review how I got mine at Best Buy in the Spanish DVD section, but my friends from other parts of the country were saying their Best Buys don’t even have Spanish DVD sections.

  8. I actually got it at Wal-Mart, it was on a Spanish language aisle display for $8. It might still be available at some Wal-Mart’s with a Spanish section.

  9. On Sunday’s TV in Mexico AAA was promising La Gran Sorpresa for show. Any ideas?

  10. Wagner will job?

Isn’t it also being advertised as La Gran Tracion? Super Fly?
